  1. 70816 Benny's Spaceship, Spaceship, SPACESHIP!- Theme: The Lego Movie LXF File (LDD Version 4.3.8) Errors: - Part 16175 not in LDD, replaced with 3833. -No decorations available on 2431, 6070, 85884, 30363, 52031, 2340, 3037, 87079, 3622, 4490, 60581 or 6636. 15427 can only take one color, as opposed to the two stripes the actual piece has. Substitute decorations given for all minifigures parts (3626, 76382, 73200) -Part 3464 does not attach to either 43898 or 3956. -Part 32187 has to be scaffolded onto 32054, as it doesn't attach to most pin-like technic parts for some reason. - Not an error per se, but the parts inventory in the back of the instruction manual for this set indicates that three of 15303 officially go towards this set's parts count, even though one of them is not used on the model. I've left it to the left side of the brick seperator in this file. Decided to celebrate the release of this magnificent set by posting this! Enjoy!
  2. Haven't watched the movie but according to this tweet made by director Chris Miller yes, it does.
  3. The guys at Brick Fanatics visited the London Toy Fair today, and got a little bit more info on the upcoming second wave of sets. So if we use the prices on the S@H site as a guide that means the Construct-o-Mech is going to be $59.99 and Benny's Spaceship will be $99.99. Brick Fanatics didn't seem to get the price for the dropship but anywhere between $75-$80 would certainly make sense considering the set's size.
  4. @jamesster: According to the latest Lego Club magazine it's a ride/attraction being built in Legoland California. Says it features an 'inside look' at how movies are made, and also houses a display section of the models originally made during development of the movie (!).
  5. Count me in as another guy who preferred the '98 version of Johnny Thunder's face over the '03 redesign. In my opinion, about the only improvement they made on him that year was to add the white 'shine'; otherwise they altered the positioning of his eyebrows and made his mustache less curly, which made the face look worse. (Plus, they gave him an extra vertical line on his chin for some reason. ) This '14 redesign skews much more with the original version, adding only the shine of the '03 version. It's all a matter of opinion of course, but I'm among the ones who think that this version is the best of both worlds.
  6. @CM4S: The construction mech does feature the cockpit rollcage and dual cranes, it's just that they go off the top of the page. Look at where the gulley starts and you can see the rollcage pulled up, as well as the cranes with wrecking balls (their textbox even spills over onto Benny's page).
  7. Hey guys! So I think I've found a picture of the Classic Space-style set that Benny will come in. (Click here for larger image) I found it in a Lego Movie book at Barnes and Nobles; it was on a page dedicated to Benny's character. The main thing that makes me think that this is the set we'll be getting is that both of those windshields (13252 and 6070) were found in Lego's parts database a while back in trans-yellow, as reported here. In addition, it has the look of an official Lego set too- and one that definitely hits a $100-or-more price point! Anyway, judging from this picture, it looks like the main features of this set are: The front half of the ship can detach from the rest (notice where it says 'latch' and has arrows pointing forward in several areas, as well as the gap between wings in the back) Two of the new 1x4 block firing missiles (as seen in the 2014 Star Wars sets, i.e. 75037) Two detachable smaller spaceships on the left and right wings A flip-up radar dish on the back And of course, lots of Classic Space pieces from the 80's! An incomplete list: 3963, 4229, 4735, 4595, 4588, 4598, etc. The whole thing seems to take inspiration from 6931 FX Star Patroller and 6980 Galaxy Commander, with the more classic colorscheme of 928 Galaxy Explorer. I've liked pretty much all of the Lego Movie sets yet seen, but if released the LL-929 will be my favorite of them all by far!
  8. This article about Cuusoo was recently posted on Rebrick. It mainly focuses on what happens to projects after they reach 10,000 votes and the role of Business Manager Daiva S. Naldal in that process. There's also a paragraph that sheds a bit of light on the factors that go into a project passing/failing, which is actually fairly interesting. Enjoy!
  9. Not quite. Recall this post (this one too); "Fool's Palace" is a translated name from a Dutch site that originates on this very thread. Given that fact I don't think it's accurate to say Fool's Palace was the set's original name. Thing is, the set actually did have a different name during development. Check out the set info section on the left of this preliminary boxart... ..."Finnland".
  10. One of the new sets was revealed at Yahoo! It's 70803, Cloud Cuckoo Palace, which features Emmet, Wyldstyle, Uni-Kitty, and a minor villain named Executron. It's definitely a set along the lines of Friends, what with all the bright colors (some of which are new and thus pretty interesting!). There's also a few neat constructions, like that sun and the snail. Looking forward to seeing more about the line!
  11. Dr.Cogg is correct; check out this interview with Mr. Offerman, where he states as much in the video/transcript. It also lines up with the synopsis on the official site:
  12. I thought about that too, but they'll probably just have the Emmet fig hold on to one or both of the 4 stud long bars instead, much like how there are 6 stud bars attached to each wing that Wyldstyle and Vitruvius could hold onto as well.
  13. Interesting set list. I was afraid the set names would be very spoilerific...but "Pursuit", "Ice Machine", "Waste Crusher"? All very odd names that don't reveal much in the way of plot, provided these are accurate translations. Yep! That design just screamed 'set material' to me. I mean it's small and features with the three 'core' main characters, so it seemed a good choice. For reference: (Link to large version of pic) (Link to large version of pic) Looks pretty interesting parts-wise, what with all the 1x2 bows, clip w/ hole parts, cattle skull horns, and chicken used as decorative element! On a related note, this caught my interest. This set sounds like it'd portray a scene shown in the trailer: (Link to large version of pic) See how Emmet's strapped into some kind of torture device here? It's possible that this is the 'Melting Room' mentioned in the title, and the set would be of a machine featured in this part of the movie. Given the fact that the directors mentioned there would be several large sets made/released for this movie (starting at 16:12), it wouldn't be too far-fetched to believe that the Batwing seen in the trailer or a large classic space ship will be released as part of a possible second wave.
  14. Dug up something interesting while reading this article about the game. Most of the article is just about the first level, but read this segment here: It seems likely that the first part of the paragraph regarding the purple house might also be a good indication of what'll happen at the beginning of the movie. Certainly it explains what exactly Emmet is doing at the construction site before he meet Wyldstyle and Vitruvius.
  15. Those of you worrying about whether or not Lord Business will stay in that huge hat for the whole movie might be interested in this. According to the background images found on various official TLM sites, the character does have hair: (Closer view) It appears to be something similar to this piece in orange with white 'printing' around the bottom half. Whether or not this'll appear in the movie (or sets) we have yet to see, but at least some of us can sleep soundly knowing that this ridiculous cartoon villain might not be as ridiculous as we first thought. On a related note, my investigations turned up an interesting fact. We know that Lord Business runs a business (natch!), but what exactly is the company he runs? The answer is seen above, but if you missed it, notice the word in the bottom right of each following picture... (The text reads "You're being watched -Octan") Looks like the evil corporation of this movie is going to be Octan! Have to say, I never pictured Octan as being evil, but its unusual omnipresence and longevity have led to some unlikely (at the time) theories stating as much. Given the fact that the organization is being set up as an Orwellian-style threat, it might also explain why there are so many police in Lego City (or Bricksburg, as it'll be called in the movie), and why there are 'Super Secret Police' (note the words written on the top of the hummer) as villains in this movie. To end on a lighter note, here's another billboard with something slightly less oppressive:
  16. That's a full-view image of the room the "The Lego Movie" panel was held in at this year's San Diego Comic-Con. is a video of the event. So yeah, it's legit.
  17. This is a very elegant looking creation! The overall scale is perhaps a bit too long, but if looked at as an artistic exaggeration it perfectly captures the 'spirit' of 1920's-era cars. I also love the clever parts usages, in particular the technic blade elements as bumpers, the frog, and especially the transparent chef's hat as headlights! Excellent work oirad 72!
  18. What an amazing build Lego Junkie! I love the overall smoothness of the build, as well as the angles you achived by tilting tiles! It very successfully captures the look of a tough ground vehicle.
  19. AFAIK the Female Minifigure Set will qualify for the Fall 2013 review (which hits its deadline on September 1st). That project is currently slated to share its review with the ATLAS mini model, FTL: Faster Than Light, Ghostbusters 30th Anniversary, and Poptropica: Dr. Hare's Lair.
  20. With a current total of 9190 (and counting!), it looks like Brentwaller's Ghostbusters project is now the frontrunner to getting 10000 supporters! Kinda surprising that it overtook Poptropica so quickly, but it's a quality project well worth the spot. Can't wait to see it qualify for review!
  21. 21103 The DeLorean Time Machine - Theme: Cuusoo (Duplicate) LXF File (LDD 4.3.6) Errors: Prints for 3626 (2x), 76382 (2x), and 3069 (3x) not in LDD, replaced with substitutes. Part 87552 also has a missing print, but the program does not yet allow decorations to be added to this piece. All other elements are correct and present.
  22. Check out this article from io9 covering the events of the TLM panel from yesterday. Sounds like it was pretty fun! Note however this part here: First of all, the possibility of a Classic Space fig being not just present in the movie but a main character is really exciting. But that bolded portion (emphasis mine) is interesting in regards to this tweet from the director: (From here) 'Space Village' isn't a set name (as far as I'm aware), but there are a few classic Space sets in that image, most prominently the 920 Rocket Launch Pad from 1979, with a stripped-down 6846 Tri-Star Voyager in the foreground. The set in the back is hard to make out, but based on what's present it looks likely to be 6970 Beta I Command Base. Not sure how these'll figure into the plot of the movie, but the fact alone that Chris Miller is putting stuff like this in the movie says a lot about the team's dedication to the history of Lego.
  23. With all this confusion over Lucy/Wyldstyle's name, I decided to ask the director himself and get the facts 'straight from the horse's mouth'. From Chris Miller's Twitter account: Personally I'm opting to believe the 'Wyldstyle is a codename and her real name is Lucy' theory. Of course if that was the case it sounds like the kind of plot point the filmmakers would've tried to keep secret until it's revealed in the film; my guess is that the marketing people accidentally made this info public when it wasn't supposed to be. So what we might have here is a case of good 'ole prerelease spoilers.
  24. Wow! This is one of the best reviews I've ever read on this site- thoroughly detail-packed and well-researched, with no part left unanalyzed. Everything from the packaging to the contents to the experience and the comparison not only to the film but also to the model that inspired it is looked-at and considered here. Rufus, I really think you deserve some kind of award for all the effort you've put into this review! As for the model itself: it's just as great as I thought it would be. What's not to love here? The box and instruction manual are top-quality; there are lots of great, useful pieces that when constructed create a detail-packed model; and the finished product has a profile and overall feel to it that is leagues better than its chunky-square predecessor. And that's just the model itself- add the excellent minifigures plus all the included extras, and you've got a set that truly goes above and beyond the norm. I'll be picking up a copy first-day for sure! (As an aside...when I first saw the leaked pictures I was thinking of replacing the hood with the 6x8 piece as many others were. As the discussion grew however I've come to terms with the hood, and those last shots where the official model is compared to the Cuusoo submission sealed it; the plate-hood works with the rest of the model to make a smoother whole, so I'm keeping my copy as-is. The 6x8 bonnet isn't as fitting as some make it out to be anyway- the slope is wrong and the sides are too flat to be accurate to the movie version. )
  25. Those offical hi-res images look great! Makes me think: with these being handed out and with the sets supposedly arriving in Lego store stockrooms today, the release of this set might not be all that far off! Also have to say, I'm getting really tired of all the hood complaints. There's a reason for why it looks the way it does and it has to do with functionality over aesthetics (check a certain post on pg. 11 of this thread if you don't believe me ), and at this point I've totally come to terms with why Lego's designers made it the way they did. At the very least if it's really bothersome you could always rebuild the hood; this is Lego after all. At any rate, everything's looking up! Can't wait for that review that'll be coming up soon!
