LDD 4.2.5 Bugs
Canticleer blues replied to Zerobricks's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
The cowboy hat seems to fit too high on a minifigure head; in reality the hat sits a bit lower, covering all of the 'top curve' of the head. -

Interesting turn here! Xenu and Cthulhu are being all mysterious so it's hard to make out too much, but from what they are implying it appears that they may intend on helping out the incoming alien threat! Even if not I'm sure that whatever Coldwell is planning on doing won't be all that helpful to Amarillo and the rest of the team. Also, no offense to you Kdog, but with that twelve day wait between parts 7 and 8 I felt a bit like Coldwell at his computer while checking the site for updates, losing a little bit of sanity every time I saw the same panels.

The 'Golden Age' of Lego, is it now?
Canticleer blues replied to Hey Joe's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Personally I believe the first golden age of Lego started around the end of the 70s- '77, '79- with the introduction of things like Technic sets/elements and the minifigure, and continued until 1990. A silver age followed that lasted until about 1996. There was a period where set design for some lines (think Town Junior, Fright Knights, or Freestyle) took a tumble, although the company was still fine on the whole. Some lines (Adventurers and the original Star Wars are my preferred examples) kept Lego to its high standards, but after 1999 the company 'fell from grace' in a lot of ways- sets, technique useage, part design, focus were all over the place and of course financial troubles plagued them as well. It took until about 2006-2007 for TLG to really start getting back on track, and Lego has only gone uphill ever since. -
Hey, the set that the pic is focusing on appears to be the final design of the alien mech that appeared in that AC wave 2 concept art! They changed the shape a bit, but it's definitely a mech- notice the trans-bright green cockpit, multiple legs reminiscent of a spider's, and trans-green tubes attaching from the body of the vehicle to its outer limbs? What's interesting also is the size of that box- it's the same size as 7052 UFO Abduction, meaning that the set probably would've been around $20-25 dollars if it was released. Man, seeing the concept art and this small peek of what could've been makes me rue the loss of AC even more.

Took one look at that picture and just have to say, that is one amazing set! The organic feel of this thing is spot-on, from the curve of the hilltop to all of those round windows. The pieces that make it up are great too; I really hope the 4x4 plate that makes up the clear part of the window on the left is trans-yellow (though realistically that's probably not so ), and those 4x4 round plates with holes will make excellent portholes for boats and submarines. Also, where is this new pretzel piece? I see what looks like cherries in the interior of the house, but these pretzels elude me...
-
@Aanchir: That car is pretty sweet, but the useage of this piece (which was phased out two years ago in favor of parts like this) leads me to believe that it's a model designed just for the game. With any luck though the car'll be easy to access in-game and we'll have a shot at replicating the design.

PAB Cups: What Did You Get?
Canticleer blues replied to ACCURATEin's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Was able to get a small cup's worth of pieces on my last visit to a Lego Store. Nothing too out of the ordinary, but all of them are very useful to future projects of mine, especially those flower pieces there- can't have a city without a little vegetation, eh? A list of elements in the cup would look something like this: 2 X Brick 2x4 in Reddish Brown 4 X Brick 2x4 in Medium Blue 4 X Brick 2x2 in Medium Blue 7 X Brick 1x2 in Medium Blue 8 X Brick 1X2 in Trans-Brown 2 X Slope 45 2x2 Transparent 60 X Plate 1x1 in Trans-Yellow 2 X 2x2x2 Container with Front Opening in Medium Stone (Light Bluish) Grey 5 X 2x2x2 Container with Open Top in Dark Store (Dark Bluish) Grey 12 X 1x2x3 Window Frame with Curved Top in Reddish Brown 86 X Plant Stem in Dark Green 46&1/4 X Set of 4 Flowers in Red -
@ACPin: Alright! Here's a list of all the CMF pieces I've seen in my local store at some point in the past two months: Series 1 Caveman: Hair, Head, Torso Cheerleader: Hair, Head Forestman: Head Magician: Hair, Head, Torso, Legs Ninja: Hat, Head, Legs Skater: Head Spaceman: Hat, Head, Torso Super Wrestler: Head, Torso Tribal Hunter: Hair, Head Series 2 Karate Master: Hair Mime: Hat, Head 1, Head 2, Legs Pharaoh: Hat, Head Disco Dude: Hair, Legs Pop Star: Hair, Head, Legs Witch: Hat Series 3 Pilot: Head, Torso, Legs Rapper: Hat Tribal Chief: Hat, Head Race Car Driver: Hair, Head, Torso Baseball Player: Hat, Head, Legs Series 4 Street Skater: Hat, Head, Torso, Legs Crazy Scientist: Hair, Head, Torso, Legs Surfer Girl: Hair, Head, Torso, Legs Snowboarder: Head, Torso, Legs Punk Rocker: Head, Legs Musketeer: Hat, Head, Torso, Legs Sailor: Hat, Head, Torso, Legs Ice Skater: Hair, Head, Torso, Legs ...And my store hasn't yet received any series past 4. @ Solitary Dark, Sid Sidious: What Sid said is right- the PaB and BaM sections are separate, as each has its own pricing and containers meant to be used only in that section. If you have to hide pieces from one section in the container of another like that, then it's very much a no-go; I'm sure the manager of the store would say the same thing if you asked.

Managed to find some of these today at a local Lego store. The biggest score here is of course the Spaceman torsos- they'll come in very handy for Neo-Classic Space stuff. : D The only thing the store was missing was the matching headgear...hey ACPin, how much would you charge for 5 of those white helmets you have so many of?

All this talk of the set reminds me of something- when I first walked into the Elizabeth store and asked about the 3300003, they told me that the store was just taking out its last box of the set, and would likely run out before I would get a chance to obtain one. While waiting in line, however, I saw them pull out about 3 more boxes full of the set- and by the time I got to the counter it turns out they had at least two rows of boxes lined up against the back of the register section. Reading this thread makes me wonder, was the guy just unaware of the stock that was right in front of him? Or was he saying that for other reasons...it seems unusual that the store had that many of 3300003, at least. : o

I was able to score one of those exclusive Lego Store sets. They're pretty neat 'lil things with lots of useful parts. Anyway, the event was super awesome! It was such a pleasure to be able to talk to people like ACPin and Steve Gerling, they're all very nice! Steve has such a great sense of humor, not to mention the fact he's pretty theatrical; very entertaining to watch his little trivia segments with the kids. I even got to contact a few local LUGs in the area; looking forward to attending some meetups in the future. @td8981: Who were you there? It's possible that you talked to some of us Eurobricks members without even being aware of it.

Jersey Gardens Mall Lego Store Grand Opening
Canticleer blues replied to ACPin's topic in LEGO Events and User Groups
@Solscud007: Ah, I wasn't aware of the brick, having only read about it in this thread. As far as I'm aware I haven't received a post card for this event ( could've missed it I suppose ). Therefore I'm not sure if ACpin can really help me there, but if he's willing to help somehow then that would definitely be pretty cool. @Ottolam: If you're talking about where to line up in the mall, it's likely that the store's location will be detailed on one of those directory signs, so by following what those say you should be able to find the place easily. -
Jersey Gardens Mall Lego Store Grand Opening
Canticleer blues replied to ACPin's topic in LEGO Events and User Groups
It took a bit of schedule arranging, but I'll be there for sure! I plan on getting there early and staying for a few hours. The building event is always fun (I've been to an R2-D2 building event in the past, it was very hectic but cool), and it's hard to pass up an opportunity to get one of those exclusive store sets. Looking forward to the 16th! -
PAB Cups: What Did You Get?
Canticleer blues replied to ACCURATEin's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I'm curious about the Elizabeth NJ store's inventory again, and just like last time Brickbuildr doesn't seem to have it covered here: what if anything does that store's wall have in terms of plant/flower pieces? -
My first sets, received at roughly the same time on the same day, were 6589 Radical Racer and 6326 Town Folks. To this day I still have most of the pieces to both, although all are broken to some degree. I also feel it's worth mentioning that some of my first exposures to Lego in general were the Lego Island video game and a mailed catalog featuring the Adventurers theme.

LEGO® CUUSOO 空想 - Turn your model wishes into reality
Canticleer blues replied to CopMike's topic in General LEGO Discussion
It seems the Dark Bucket has failed review. Another 'foregone conclusion' deal- looks like Lego wasn't willing to mess with the basic concept too much for this one. Here's hoping the next few projects in line (Sandcrawler, Space Marines, Exo Suit) will fare better on the pre-reviews. -
LEGO® CUUSOO 空想 - Turn your model wishes into reality
Canticleer blues replied to CopMike's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Hey guys, has anyone else noticed that that My Little Pony entry on CUUSOO has been taken down? I think it's pretty obvious as to why that would happen, but can anyone find an archived version of the page or something? It's possible that like the page for the Ghost in the Shell project it'll have more information on why this has happened. -
REVIEW: 850423 Minifigure Presentation Boxes
Canticleer blues replied to SilentMode's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Excellent review SilentMode! I agree that the design of the display cases, while passable, are somewhat lacking in protection of the minifigures. I may just pick up one or three of these for the deal on the white parts alone...and having a few new-type Classic Space figs certainly helps too. -
It appears that Bricklink is back up now. That was surprisingly quick- glad to see that the admin was able to fix the database problem.

Jersey Gardens Mall Lego Store Grand Opening
Canticleer blues replied to ACPin's topic in LEGO Events and User Groups
It's a bit of a drive for me to get to Elizabeth, but I'll definitely try to attend this as well! Hopefully more information will surface (on time etc.) in the weeks before the opening celebrations occur. -
Well KDog, with this last page here I can say that despite prior concerns from you this whole storyline was indeed ‘Epic'. What started off as regular ‘wacky’ antics for Schwartz and Galanos ended up turning into some very thoughtful character development for the duo. This is one of the reasons I love this comic, and I can’t wait to see more of it. Another excellent thing was the treatment of the clones- too often clones of characters are played off as flat disposable villains or vehicles for lots of angsty speeches. Here, their character was played quite realistically IMO- once they figured out they were clones, they accepted it and moved on, in a manner similar to how I imagine people their age would take learning they’re adopted, for instance. Their death is much more respectable from a writing POV in that it has nothing to do with the fact alone that they’re clones, but rather the composition of their ships as established in the first few comics (and indeed as their out-of-comic reputation holds). With that final fate of theirs, I bet this won’t be the last we’ll see of these two. Speaking of the last panels, it’s the return of Captain Dash! I wonder if he’s still sentient (?) enough to realize that his most recent, er, ‘acquisitions’ aren’t like the rest of his collection. Awesome, awesome job- can’t wait to see how ‘The Search’ plays out!

PAB Cups: What Did You Get?
Canticleer blues replied to ACCURATEin's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Alright, thanks man! Reading some of the other posts here it seemed like at least one of those pieces was being sold in store PaBs, but apparently there are none at my local stores. Shame, as I'm working on a project and trying to get those pieces in qualities over 100 can get expensive...guess I'll look over other options, or at least wait until a parts restock. -
PAB Cups: What Did You Get?
Canticleer blues replied to ACCURATEin's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Question: does anyone know about the selection of parts on the PAB wall at the recently-opened store in Elizabeth, NJ? Particularly if they have any 1x1x5 or 1x2x5 in white? None of the sites that keep track of the walls have any data on that location yet, so I'd appreciate any help.
