Query about VIP points in store?
Mr Copperhead replied to Hrw-Amen's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I was in a Dallas area LEGO store just before Christmas and they told me they were changing the policy to a 2 year expiration. -
Well, I've never played the game, but these are great little MOCs! They make me want to go and find the game

This is really beautiful. I'd love to see more pictures if you have some.

That is awesome. I love your big landscape!

I found two of them yesterday, but for some reason ended up with three fortune tellers and a Marilyn. I only had time to feel for the skirts. Are there more of the fortune tellers in the boxes? I don't know what to do with those now, but the dress is pretty cool.

Just buy it! You'll love it, it's a great set with lots of cool stuff. The cows alone were worth it for me.

That's excellent! The CN locomotive is a nice touch.
-
Now that's really cool! Are you going to add some more intermediate steps in the evolution?

Hi Faefrost - sorry for the delayed response. I used parts from all of the first wave sets, I forget how many there were at that time, but it was probably around 8 - 10 or so. Also I used parts from two large cups from the Pick A Brick wall in the Lego Store. Mainly that was long white pieces for the walls, a lot of tiles and some plant and flower parts.

That is an excellent job! It really looks good next to the other townhouse. Now I need to go and buy another Olivia's house and copy your idea :)

MOC: Hidamari Apartments from "Hidamari Sketch!"
Mr Copperhead replied to Modulex Guy's topic in LEGO Town
It looks like my post from yesterday went missing, but I love this! It looks just like the cartoon! -
I'm really glad you all stopped by and enjoyed this. I'm very pleased your daughter liked it Mr Meleca! As I took it apart I built it in LDD. A few parts weren't available, but the missing or substituted parts are pretty obvious. I hope LEGO adds the Friends stuff to LDD soon. I think I've figured out how to post links to the files. Brickshelf hasn't approved them yet, but I'm thinking they should be available soon. The first file shows the individual floors and the second one shows them put together. http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/MrCopperhead/Friends-Modular/LDD-file/friends_modular_12.lxf http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/MrCopperhead/Friends-Modular/LDD-file/friends_modular_stack.lxf

Big medieval landscape: BIG UPDATE on page 26
Mr Copperhead replied to maydayartist's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
You've done a beautiful job on this! I'm very much looking forward to more of your work. -
That's just too cool. I love little mallets and you did a wonderful job on this one.

Thanks much for all of your comments! I really appreciate them. I do agree the colors aren't the best, but I wanted to make this only from the Friends sets I had plus Pick a Brick wall parts. Hopefully they add some pink and lime green to the wall soon. I could really use some more. We'll see if my next one may be a bit less jarring to eyes as I've gotten everything but a train and some winter village stuff taken apart and sorted. Plus I've got the second Friends wave to work with now too:) I'm really looking forward to the third batch. Sixoh - it's great to see Pinkie Pie peeking out the door in your MOC! I love how these Ponies fit so nicely with LEGO in size.

I don't like the piracy, but I'm confused. These don't seem to be cheap at all. They have spinners listed at AUD 19.95 which is USD 20.86 right now. LEGO spinners are USD 9.99 at the LEGO store, so I'm not sure why anyone would buy these fakes? Are they really more than double the US price in Australia? The Fangpyre Mech is more expensive as well.

Back in the early 90's I used this product to produce resin 1/72 scale model airplane kits. They still are around today with no appreciable degradation. Interestingly enough, I used LEGO to make the mold boxes, they work really well for that. It's not as durable as the LEGO ABS, but probably would work for custom parts. The level of detail is incredible, but unless you use a pressure casting system you'll probably end up with air bubbles. I've recently tried using the mold putty and it's pretty decent for how fast it works except that I wouldn't use it for a multi part mold. Regular RTV seems to work better. As far as I know, the dyes should work fine with the resin.

That's really impressive. It will be cool to see the garden and minifigs too.

B-OM-34A Hello, I was hesitating for quite some time before posting this as it's my first my first MOC since probably around 1980 and as you can see my photography skills are obviously not that great. Plus a lot of stuff is just simply copied straight from the sets. But I figured, what the hey, someone might enjoy it and hopefully I've figured out how to post the pics here. This is one is made using parts from the first wave of Friends sets and a couple of pick a brick cups. Peter and Anna had a mid-life crises and left their middle management jobs and home in the suburbs to follow their passions in the heart of Heartlake City. Peter has always had a love for hair styling and finally has opened his very own beauty parlor and Anna is exploring her deep love of pastry cooking in the space below. Having no commute has really freed up a lot of time in their lives to perfect their talents. Sorry for the non-LEGO Pinky Pie, but she couldn't resist Anna's cupcakes ! If these pics don't show up, here's a link to the flikr page: http://www.flickr.co...in/photostream/

I suppose I'm a little late here, but thanks for the great review! I just went out and bought the set at lunch :)
-
I thought the same thing about swimsuits and shoes with the splash pool. Why on earth would she wear her shoes there? Oh well, thanks for the review and I'll still buy this if I find it, but I do hope they come out with some new outfits.

There isn't a national VAT here, it's done at the state, county and city level. It varies between 0% in some states and I think around 9.5% in Chicago proper. I think it would be almost impossible to include it in the price since there are so many variations.
-
I don't know, but is VAT already included in the prices in Europe and Mexico? The sales tax isn't included in the US prices so it's actually higher than what you see in most states. That still doesn't explain a doubling of the price, but it may be part of it

Yes Mega Bloks are bad quality, but Lego doesn't have Hello Kitty. I need a few Kitties running around in my cities and castles so I have to buy Mega Bloks.
