  1. Thanks for that jamtf, I shall remeber who steve is from known on.
  2. LEGO SPACE SPYRIUS 6889 RECON ROBOT, I do love this little set.
  3. Can I ask where the name Steve (the Merchant in 6277 Imperial Trading Post) was published that just seems a rather odd name for a Lego character?
  4. I don’t remember the value pack being released in the UK, however I’m lucky enough to have it as it was out the first time my parent took me as a child to the US. It’s an interesting set, in my humble opinion it is weaker than the other value pack one (which looked like a Puckle gun) I also think it’s the weakest in the value pack. It’s good that we are provided with two animals but I think Lego just did the marooned on a little island to many time.
  5. Welcome to Eurobrick, I hope you have a great time here.
  6. Oh dear badger Will is going to bankrupt with these new items, I'm very glad the ammo clip was will be for sale at some point.
  7. Badger, I was quite excited by the Lewis gun and now you tell me I can finally have that SMLE at some point in the future, I’m nearly bouncing off the walls with joy! Can I ask if you know which mark it Will based the model on? Also is the ammo clip just for show or might it be released?
  8. I’m not a great communicator but what I was trying to say was that on the box the sets looks quite exciting and well made and that the Alien fits much more snugly than it does. So I was a bit disappointed that it seemed wider and less compact and certainly less exciting when I opened it,
  9. Sets we miss include minfig sets like this one
  10. The next in my attempt to review every impulse set single handed Theme: Space, Mission Mars Set Name: Alien Jet Set Number: 5617 Number of Pieces: 21 Figures:1 Released: 2008 List Price: £1.99 (GBP) $3.50 (USD) 2.99 (EURO) 5617 Peeron.com 5617 Bricklink Catalog 5617 Shop At Home As always we begin outside of the box It looks rather exciting at first glance. Set that cost a lot more than this one. Now for what
  11. Considering the rarity etc I don’t think they’re to badly priced, it’s just a shame I can’t afford any of them.
  12. A fantastic set from an era when Lego had to be creative with just blocks. I hope we can get more reviews of these early sets going as I find it helpful with ideas for future creations. Thanks for the review and I for one hope for more.
  13. Thanks for all the comments, it good to know you enjoyed the review. Yes I do also have a set of instruction, they’re also in mint condition. I would have added some pictures but I sent them off to a paper conservator recently, don’t laugh! I own a few books from the 1640’s (2) that needed work doing so I though I’d add the instruction in as well, I’m kind of paranoid and protective about this set to be honest. When I get round to getting the decals done I’ll post pictures and them for download.
  14. Congrats to the winners, I hope you enjoy your new sets, and a big thank you to CopMike for runnig the raffle and reading all 17 pages of this thread!
  15. That’s the problem I couldn’t quite tell what, it’s a bit of a problem in a reviewer. Maybe a hose to clip to the fire hydrant I don’t know.
  16. Warning! This review is likely to descend into me being nostalgic about the Route Master Bus, and London is general. You have been warned. There is some confusion about the set number and I've seen it with three different ones! Therefore I shall adopt 760 Peeron from for this review. I first moved to London four years ago when I started my undergraduate degree, one of my fondest memories was getting (well fighting for space) on a Route Master in the morning and heading off to university. A while later I was just browsing eBay and I can across this set in a mint box in the US even though I wasn't quite out of my dark-age yet I couldn't resist and bought it. Theme: Legoland Set Name: London Bus Set Number: 760 Number of Pieces: 110 (It says so on the outside of the box.) Figures: 0 (It's pre-minfig) Released: 1975 List Price: ? (Sadly I don't know) 760 Peeron.com 760 Bricklink Catalog2 Before we even get to the box I'll show you the box I keep the set and box in. I really don't want this set damaged. Now lets open the protective box and look inside. It looks fantastic, and has a huge safety warning. The back of the box, show the sticker sheet, I plan to decal it at some point. A quick comparison with one of the smaller modern sets, the boxes were much smaller in the 70's. Now time to open up the box and get the pieces out and start building. Looks more than 110 to me.[/. One detail that I think is worth pointing out is the old style windows. Rather than studs at the bottom you have prongs. This makes them harder to place and fit, I'm glad Lego later changed this though I think the 3x window could make a welcome return. Older design system, but was made 3 long. Something I noticed about this old set is that Lego expect you to do a lot more in each step in the 1970's than they do now. This is step 1 This is step 5 it's almost built. One more in build shot. Finally it’s built, I had some problems making sure all the windows line up but they were easily resolved. Side view. A view I remember from waiting in the rain. Full side view. A sight often seen as you start funning to the stop. Sadly you don't get any minifig as they were yet to be invented, but if we add some we can quickly get a typical London street scene going. Running to jump on the bus use to be so popular. The truth is I think this set is great, it really captures the feel of the old Route Master. Also it's really solid looking, sadly there's not really space to put many figs inside. The Rating System Figures: 0/10 (I can't blame them for not inventing them yet.) Parts 8/10 (A great selection of parts, I love 3x windows even though the old style is harder to use.) Fun Fun Fun 9/10 (A great set, once youâ've added some passenger it makes a perfect addition to any city.) Design 10/10 (It's a perfect replica of the Route Master which looks great. Something that looked great in Lego, perfect!) Price: ?/10 (Unknown so can't mark them on that..) Grand Total 27/30 (An amazingly high mark for an amazing set.) Conclusion. This set is fantastic, there have been a number of complaints over the years about the lack of buses in the Lego world well this set is the answer. While it might seem to be made of quite rare parts actually the parts are quite common on bricklink (please don't go and buy them all I want to build a few more route masters) so it can easily be reproduced. While it might seem obvious, the fact that it's a set of an easily identifiable real world bus is one of the aspect think is great, also they picked probably one of the most recognizable buses in the world. To me this set is one of the best I own and due to its condition I think I might be the jewel in the crown of my collection, in the longer term I hope to build up a small fleet of them in a mini-London. Sadly I don't have the stickers for the set, I'm planning on making some and adding them with decals to another copy of the route master. Maybe the 96 calling at Bluewater for the Lego shop.
  17. Opps well that’ll teach me to do reviews without my glasses! Thanks for pointing that out Stauder.
  18. Brick built robot, surely we
  19. More firefighter, there must be a pyromaniac in Legoland somewhere! Theme: City Set Name: Firefighter Set Number: 5613 Number of Pieces: 25 Figures:1 Released: 2008 List Price: £2.00 (GBP) $3.50 (USD) 2.99 (EURO) 5613 Peeron.com 5613 Bricklink Catalog 5613 Shop At Home Starting as always with the box I didn’t know red cylinders were flammable. Interestingly an action shot and not other sets you might like to buy. The contents of the box. Looks much like every other impulse set. Firefighter, not sure there’s much else to say apart from I wish they’d included breathing equipment. Looking pretty pleased with himself if you ask me. The equipment rack is fairly standard and easy to build, it does however include a fire hydrant. Inbuild shot, will I be able to finish this complex build.[/. Unsurprisingly I did. I nice selection of kit is provided. All together, I think the fire is a bit odd but it does add playability. If you want to increase the number of your firefighter and their equipment this is a great way, though there is something missing in my mind. The Rating System Figures: 5/10 (Fairly standard I already have a fair few) Parts 6/10 (Good selection of tools, but lacks the breathing apparatus I’d expect in a set like this) Fun Fun Fun 5/10 (There’s clearly something to do even if you just own this set.) Design 5/10 (Not going to win any awards but it’s robust) Price 8/10 (Nothing to complain about, you get a lot of accessories for the price.) Grand Total 29/50 (Reasonable design and good accessories a good set to improve any fire department.) Conclusion. This isn’t a set I’d necessarily buy, but while I was at Bluewater today I decided I should try to review every impulse set myself, so that why I bought it. Still I think it has some good playability and a good set of accessories if you need more firefighting kit, I just can’t get passed the lack of breaking apparatus, that would have made it a better set in my view.
  20. What do you mean the troll’s should outnumber the Crown Knight? How are you going to manage that? Well here’s the answer. Theme: Castle Set Name: Troll Warrior Set Number: 5618 Number of Pieces: 19 Figures:1 Released: 2008 List Price: £2.50 (GBP) $3.50 (USD) 2.99 (EURO) 5618 Peeron.com 5618 Bricklink Catalog 5618 Shop At Home Lets us begin with the box. The troll warrior and his might cart. Set sets for children to pester for at Christmas. Now for what’s inside. The contents of the box, it doesn’t look like much. Now for the troll himself, I’m glad they selected this troll torso rather than the other one for the impulse set I think this one is the superior one. Also he comes well armed with a spear and sword but no shield sadly. Someone really needs to look at the rodent problem in the Castle sets.. Now the cart, nice easy construction as with all impulse sets, I’m still not convinced by the flicking missiles. A line of those would do some damage. What an oncoming army can expect to see.. All together now and it looks rather good. So there we have it a cheap way of bolstering the troll army and outfitting them with some more weapons. Also for anyone planning a Pied Piper MOC another set with a rat in it. The Rating System Figures: 8/10 (|Preferred troll torso and helmet style. ) Parts 7/10 (Two spears and a sword but sadly lacking that all important shield.) Fun Fun Fun 4/10 (Somewhat more to do on it’s own that other impulse at least the troll can fight the rat!) Design 7/10 (Well designed even the flicker missile doesn’t look bad) Price 8/10 (At £2.50 more than the other castle impulse.) Grand Total 34/50 (Lack of a shield and to small to stand alone for my rating system..) Conclusion. Castle fans got a great army builder with The Knight and they’ve been lucky enough to receive another one with this set. I’m glad we’ve got a troll impulse as it allow for enlarging the armies of evil some the Crown Knight don’t totally outnumber all their opponents.
  21. Just thought I’d point out that the premium edition is for sale at Bluewater though they only have two left. 29.99 which is cheaper than importing and you get loyalty stamps.
  22. I noticed that to, personally I reserve judgment for the time being. While I liked rock raiders it was nothing amazing but was just different. I assume Lego must think the theme is good if they’re going to put a huge marketing effort into it, well I’d hope so rather than the line being week and needing adverts to boost the sets.
  23. Do we really need more construction works? Legoland is just one huge building site. Theme: City Set Name: Mini Digger Set Number: 7246 Number of Pieces: 36 Figures:1 Released: 2005 List Price: $3.50 (USD) 7426 Peeron.com 7246 Bricklink Catalog Diving right in let get some photos of the box The digger at work. The back just has more of the same not to inspiring. Once we open the box we find two poly bags and some instructions The total contents of the box, well minus the air Instruction booklet short and simple. Now the single minfig of the set, nothing new of special that I can see. …got a job working construction for the Johnstown Company. Moving onto the digger itself, it’s one of those builds where all you really need is a quick glance at the instructions and off you go. Side view of the finished product. Alternative view, it doesn’t look to bad. Now lets add our construction worker. Looks rather good, though the lifting action isn’t smooth. It’s nothing special, it’s not the greatest construction set that Lego have ever produced but I think it is worth the money. The arm action really does bug me though. The Rating System Figures: 5/10 (Just another construction peon.) Parts 4/10 (Nothing novel and I dislike the new digger arm system.) Fun Fun Fun 7/10 (I think the playability is high and you can get a good load of bricks in the bucket.) Design 6/10 (Not the best designed digger but not the worst.) Price 7/10 (A reasonable price for what you get) Grand Total 29/50 Still halfway decent but nothing to write home about Conclusion. This set is yet another in a long line of Lego digger and to be honest it’s not the best in my opinion. I still hold nostalgic memories for 6504 which I still think is a great digger. From my point of view the set sits to high off the ground and make me wonder how the worker gets in. I really don’t like the digging arm action it will never be smooth and while it poses better I just think it’s inferior. Despite this I still think it’s not a bad set, I’d just like it to be so much more.
  24. And lo! It came from the east (Denmark) the set which had been foretold the cheap army builder and there was much rejoicing amongst the castle fans. The Cardinal then asked was all the rejoicing justified….. Set Name: The Knight Set Number: 5615 Number of Pieces: 21 Figures:1 Released: 2008 List Price: £2.00 Lets us begin with the box. The front shows us are knight and his rack of arms. The back shows us two sets from the Castle range. Moving inside the box now. The contents of the box, it doesn’t look like much. The instructions to help you through the build. Now the reason you probably bought the set, well at least why I did the Knight. This features the new torso for 2008 and is the height of fashion. This brings the number of printed torsos from the Crown Knights to three, which allows for a greater variety in building your armies. A new fashion sensation and all the must have accessories for this season. With a more heavily armoured look he’s ready for anything. The rest of the set is a weapons rack, I assume that once you’ve got a few of these set you’ll probably like me give up building them and part them out. But anyway here are some pictures of what the rest of the elements are spent on. A long and complex build begins. After 360 hour finally it’s finished sadly five minfigs were hurt in the construction of this rack. Now the money shot, where we can see it all come together. It looks great even the rack doesn’t look to bad. Sadly are hero wasn’t ready for other themes just yet. In total we have a good army builder which castle fans have wanted. However there remains a question in my mind as to if this set is good enough on it’s own. Without any other castle sets I can’t see it being to much fun so it’s not a good present. The Rating System Figures: 9/10 (Great new fashion for this season ) Parts 8/10 (Shield, sword, spear, helmet and armour what more could I want? Well two shields.) Fun Fun Fun 3/10 (Sadly it’s rather dull on it’s own I can’t think or to much else to do.) Design 7/10 (Yes it’s the army builder I’ve wanted design, well apart from that Pirate one.) Price 9/10 (At £2.00 what more can I say.) Grand Total 36/50 (Let down by being to small to stand alone..) Conclusion. So let’s answer the question, is it the army all castle fans have wanted? Well yes and no is the answer. While it is a great set and at the now reduced UK price of £2.00 amazing value. I still think it’s inferior compared with the army building capability of Cross Bow attack, I much prefer army building both factions at once.
  25. The Y-wing is the work horse of the Rebel Alliance. It’s well armed and heavily armoured, but you’ll need it because you’ll be moving like a sleepy hut! – General Rieekan Set Name: Y-wing Starfighter Set Number: 7658 Number of Pieces: 454 Figures:2 Released: 2007 List Price: £39.99 Lets us begin with the box. The front shows it in all it’s swooshing glory. http://tdy.org.uk/images/7658-02.jpg The back shows some of the many features of the set and also others you might like to buy in the Star Wars range. After opening the box we find a single instruction booklet Now we come to an important aspect of any Star Wars set the figure, here we’re provided with an anomalous rebel pilot and his faithful R5 droid. The pilot comes with the fairly standard Lego Star Wars non-hero helmet printing. What’s he going to do with the blaster taken on the entire Empire? One of the more interesting parts is the assembly of the engine, which if like me you don’t pay enough attention to the instructions when building you can end up getting wrong. The key detail I got wrong. Just before fitting the last engine. If we look carefully on the side we can see a missile launcher. I didn’t think torpedoes or concussion missiles were fired from there but I may be wrong. After fitting the engine the models looks like this. In all it’s glory. Manning one of the Alliance’s fighters. Not so ready to take on the empire was he? So overall we have a well designed model, which is in my opinion far superior to the original we were offered with Darth Vader way back when Lego Star Wars was new. This Y-wing is sleek and looks great in my opinion, the firing missiles are also a great touch. The Rating System Figures: 5/10 (for the same price the last X-wing had far more figures) Parts 6/10 Swooshability 9.5/10 Design 9/10 Price 3/10 Grand Total 32.5/50 Not to shabby. Conclusion. So finally the answers to the questions you’ve no doubt want to know is the set worth the price. I’ll be frank £39.99 is too much for this set. Despite this I currently have a squadron of three Y-wings, the reasons is this set has been on sale a number of times at £30 it’s certainly worth the money. Lego recently placed them online with a price of £20, this I think was a great price for the set and well work picking one or more up if you wanted to start your own rebellion.
