  1. Wasn’t it just because not enough people speak Latin any more?
  2. Welcome, nice to have another castle fan here. I look forward to seing your MOCs.
  3. Welcome here, I hope you enjoy your time here and I look forward to seeing some of your work.
  4. Welcome aboard I hope you have a great time here.
  5. Firstly thank you to CopMike, for being so generous as to donate this fine set. One point will the draw be after all the tickets are sold or on a set date?
  6. An interesting name, maybe the commanders a Star Wars fan, I await the arrival of anti=obesity drive Jaba the Hut. On a broader point I’ve always wondered how these operations get there name, if anyone experienced it please lets us know!
  7. I suppose I’m rather heretical when it comes to mixing, I have no problem with taking some Playmobil bottles for taking some photographs in an MOC, I wouldn’t store them together but I can see no harm with them coming in for images etc. I rather like the oversized bottle myself.
  8. Both are very well done, though I’d prefer the army builder one if you made it stormtroopers rather than clones, but that’s personal taste. I love the 300 one and frankly I’d like a shirt with it on – maybe on the back of a polo shirt? As has been suggested you should contact Lego and see if they could produce one. If they wont would you object to people printing their own and transferring them onto shirts?
  9. It seems to me a strange thing, mystifying that we’re still doing so much complaining, Lego has produced amazing sets over the last few years it’s cut down of licences etc nearly everything that we’ve demanded! The criticism of focus testing seems a very odd one to me, as Hinckley said they need a great understanding of their market as its shrinking every year. Isn’t it more like and architect asking what you want your house to be like? Which is what I’d expect if I hired an architect. I spend a lot of time dealing with complaints, and the one that are most easy to deal with are those which, state a short complaint and suggest a remedy that I can understand. If I looked at your letter I’d have to ask what does ‘FUN’ mean isn’t it just subjective and therefore is there anything I can do … well the answer would probably be no.
  10. Excellent results, it goes to show that if you build it (excellent sets) people will come! I think the results also bear out a lot of discussions we’ve had when you decided to buy a licence it has to be one that everyone’s heard of and is considered a classic. While I’m not sure I believe that Lego use Brent North Sea oil as it’s better for plastic polymers and it’s consistently at a lower price than West Texas which is the price the market seems to focus on, so while the price has gone up, it’s not a high as it could be. I could of course be totally wrong about this if someone knows please correct me. ‘The increase in sales was recorded especially on the North American and Northern European markets’ - Assuming the UK is counted as Northern Europe I’m proud to have helped though I don’t think my bank manager is!
  11. A great little buggy I like the retro style and the colour scheme, the use of chrome exhaust makes it seem a bit like a space hot rod to me. Great work.
  12. The price is far more reasonable than I expected, though I think I’ll wait for a double reward stamp week at the Lego store before I buy it.
  13. I am awed, it was only the other day I posted complaining we had seen a picture and lo and behold what turns up. I guess the price will be about £250-300 due to the size but lack of Lucas cut in it. Though I would hope it is a bit cheap I only just managed to afford the Eiffel Tower
  14. Who says it wont be out at the end of the year? I personally think it must be coming fairly soon if it is coming, due to the accessories being released. I also remember reading that theme development now only takes around a year, so it would make sense to be 2009.
  15. With these accessories it does make me wonder if the Pirate theme was meant to come out late this year and has been delayed? I can’t help but think they’d be no point in making accessories for a theme you aren’t going to sell”
  16. Welcome aboard, I hope you enjoy your time here. Which themes do you like best?
  17. Welcome aboard I hope you enjoy your time here.
  18. Thanks for posting the review, I’ve been wondering about this set. To me it does feel a bit fig light, for £50 I’d expect maybe one or two more clones. I’m not to sure about the oversized issue, it seems to me it’s better to have something a bit to large and have a better level or features than something smaller will less.
  19. We haven't even see an image of that yet though have we?
  20. Welcome aboard, I hope you have a great time here.
  21. As far as I know VAT has to be included in the price everywhere in the EU, but even so it leaves a huge discrepancy Example AT-ST 7657 UK 19.99 – the VAT at 17.5% = £16.49 and from there put it into dollars (at 1.98 which I use as that was the exchange rate I got on my last trip) = 32.65 but yet an AT-ST before tax will only set you back 19.99 in the US, so the difference is still huge. I’ll make the point again that with most things I don’t mind to much the difference isn’t that huge once sales tax is included but on Star Wars sets it’s just to far in my opinion. Kogyik I would point out the UK has the longest working hours in Europe and a lot of us do just as many hours as people in the US
  22. Last time I read Single European Act and Maastricht treaty I discovered that Europe was meant to be a single market! Therefore I rather think that the European market is a tad bigger than the US as is Germany for example as for economies of scale last time I checked my orders from shop@home came from mainland Europe and didn’t come from the UK so you are just treating me like a customer in say Virginia getting my package from another state. We don’t have interstate tariffs in the EU so as far as I can see bar a few exceptions like the UK and Denmark with an added currency we are just like America, different sales taxes but otherwise not much else that’s different. I can in my local Woolies despite it looking like something from the dark days of the 80’s ever single alternative toy that I seen on my travels in the US, not a huge range but Toys R Us have a good selection, so I can’t see what apart from buying habits make us less competitive. If the toy market is really uncompetitive perhaps it’s time to refer it to the EU commission or whatever your local country’s had ie UK Competition Commission. I am aware that you can’t set the retailers price but you must give them a guide and anyway you can set your own at a fair level. Regardless of all thus, the God’s honest truth is I don’t mind paying a bit more. Hell in the UK it’s a way of life really, but that doesn’t justify all those years that you charged the US $19.99 for a Star Wars set and us £19.99, nothing in my mind justifies that and never could. Though maybe from all the unsold Tie Crawlers and AT-STs that recently cluttered the Bluewater store before the sale you’ve learned to be just a little less greedy in the UK market.
  23. I visited my second nearest Woolworths today, at which I found the boxes to be full and no security tags. However they have placed them in clear view of the checkout so the staff can always see what’s going on, so I assume that it’s what each store manager decides on as to how to guard these vital Lego products.
  24. Welcome aboard Ihope you have a great time here.
  25. I doubt anyone's heard of him but Harvey Andrews's Hey Sandy.
