  1. Well, I was completely fooled. But fantastic game, well done, Shadows. I'm sorry I doubted your powers. It was interesting to see how all of the night actions played out. We'll have to play another one of these mafia games killfests sometime. Oh, and yay me for being the first to die!
  2. Great entries so far, everyone. I particularly like the museum display for the caveman. But I had a question regarding Peppermint M's entry: are we allowed to enter two vigs like that? Not to point fingers at her, but it does seem a little unfair if she gets two entries and everyone else gets one. Unless I am missing that the two are stacked on top of each other... Both are good looking, though. By the way, my rock concert stage has been posted.
  3. Here's my entry: For the Rocker (or Emo Kid, or Skater), I made a rock concert stage. Complete with special effects like the flame machines and colored lights, and nice dark brown hardwood stage flooring, this is what I would display my Rocker in. A close up of the mic and the "ax" (note the stand for the guitar): And one last view of the front with the guitar and flames. By the way, those dark red cheese slopes at the front are supposed to be stage lights. Thanks for looking! You can find larger pictures and additional shots in my Flickr.
  4. Planning, waiting, planning, waiting... it's not as easy as it looks. We never said in order to win, we just said that they must vote off an Insane... or things wouldn't be looking good. Not that it would be different from any other day we've had so far. You'll find out soon enough...
  5. I'd say that Stash2Sixx and Svelte are both suspects. Stash has been playing it safe by posting "nothing" in the threads, and later, complaining that he was a target. I don't remember anyone accusing him, so I just think he wanted protection. As for Svelte, what was the deal with him getting dragged away? What for? A clue? And hooray, Lord Arjay, for getting yourself stepped on by an elephant. Nice attempt to try to kill the host, but I knew Shadows didn't want to loose the title of the only one to ever kill the host.
  6. Thanks, but does it really matter who came up with what? Ricecracker and I have worked on this as a team for the past ten months, and that's not about to change. If you must know, Ricecracker takes the pictures however he wants to, and I write the descriptions to go along with them.
  7. Excellent, thanks SirDillon and Oky Wan. Did anyone notice that the flame pieces in this line are back to the old kind (with the two pegs at the base)? I'm glad, because they let you connect multiple flame pieces to make interesting shapes, and after seeing the pegs missing in sets lately, I thought they'd be gone permanently. Guess not!
  8. I know. The Day 5 conclusion is now up.
  9. Where do you live that you're asleep at six PM on a Saturday? Australia? Sucks to be you?
  10. Please do not play the game in the discussion thread. Thanks.
  11. The votes have been cast, and a conviction has been reached. Bob/ Brian Mason has been convicted. The mob came towards Brian. It was time to end the nightmare. "No, you fools! I am not a crook! This is a scandal!" Brian cried out. But it was no use. The crowd had been convinced that Brian was Insane. "It's too late for you, Brian!" said Ellen, pushing Brian. He stumbled, and fell to the ground. An object slipped from his jacket pocket. The mob gasped. "He's got a weapon! Eek!" cried Shirley. Brian slowly got up and brushed himself off. "Fine. Seeing as I'm not going to get off of this island alive, I might as well do it myself. So much for being elected President. Soon you'll all see that you've made a huge mistake. I'll just be glad to not be here to see it when the Insanes win..." he said. Then, he picked up his revolver, spun the magazine, and cocked it. He brought the gun up to his temple. ...and fired. The powerful weapon blew his head right off his neck. Brain Mason, the Governor of California, was dead. His tent and belongings were searched, and it was certain he was Sane. "Talk about political suicide..." remarked Deborah, before the remaining seven went off to bed. It is now night. Please send in your night actions to Ricecracker. The sooner we get them, the sooner Day 6 can start.
  12. Fantastic review, Cloney! I have to say, this is one of your best yet. Two whole posts worth... As for the set, I'm going to go ahead and give this an 'Outstanding' rating. I really like how this set offers tons of playability and imagination, with modularity, all of the little alcoves, etc. While some of the colors and parts seem mismatched, this is still one hell of a set if you compare it to other late 90s sets. And it's not gimmicky, like some of the sets of today, IMO. The designers went all out on the design (for the most part), and the focus wasn't just on the figs or the play functions.
  13. This looks great! A good way to get some of the most-wanted figures from this new line without having to buy the sets. Anyone know if the advent calendar will be available in the States this time around?
  14. I'm surprised it was the Nazim who killed, you, Great Vizier. I would have thought some of the loyal citizens would've lost their minds after killing zero Nazim.
  15. I like the idea of a sig-fig themed podracer contest, but no ideas really come to mind. It may be easier for someone with a sig-fig like yours, Oky Wan, because you have a theme and a color scheme. But many people don't have that in theirs, so maybe the participation would be a little low... And the voting may make it seem like a rip-off of the FBTB contest.
  16. Thanks for the (one of many) article, Brickster! Your articles are often inspiring- and this is no exception. As a TFOL, I often wonder what to do with my Lego. I'm not very good at MOCing, mostly because I either don't want to piece out my valuable sets or because I'm not organized, and usually give up before I find that one piece I need. Yet, I still enjoy building official Lego sets, and (less than a year or so ago) occasionally review them. Still, I often wonder what the point of spending the money on that huge set was for. The Lego Star Wars MTT set (2007 version) is a great example. I bought it for full price about six to eight months after it's release. I enjoyed the long build, and the set's play features... but it just sits on my shelf, possibly just to look impressive. I don't want to take it apart out of fear of losing the parts and/ or simply not wanting it missing from my display, but I rarely do anything with it. And another problem is, I'm not likely to make much money off of it, in the rare case that I decide to sell it. There are no rare pieces in the set that I can think of, and the now common minifigures would'nt be worth selling them. And I don't think anyone would rather have a used, slightly de-pieced set than a MISB one without being a price not worth selling. Hmm, decisions, decisions. "Why am I spending money on this set that I'll likely never get much use out of? I already have plenty of Lego that I hardly use creatively. And what if I grow out of Lego for a long time, or permanently?", I ask myself. Thanks for the brain food, Brickster.
  17. But you just asked where you could find a pressure injection molding machine. What were you asking if not this? They're not cheap, of course. If you were looking to open you're own store, I would try to do the best you can with what you have in designing the parts, and showcase them to see how well liked they are. Before you spend thousands of dollars making them.
  18. And here I thought you had a sense of humor. Understood.
  19. Happy birthday! Have a great one, and have fun with those PoP night actions.
  20. I saw that a few months ago, and I agree it was pretty good. Some parts were a little unbelievable, , but it had a good plot, and a touching ending. I also saw Kickass, and all I can say is that it was definitely hilarious. HitGirl was the star of the show, and I could not stop laughing at some of her lines. "Hey, so what do you want for your birthday, sweetie?" "I want a puppy" "...What? A puppy?!" "Yeah and one of those Bratz superstar dolls" "..." "Hah, I'm just megablocking with you, Daddy. I'd love a bench-made model 42 butterfly knife". Finally, I saw Clash of the Titans in 3D, and it was pretty amazing. Once I got over the dizziness the glasses brought, the special effects were mind-blowing. The story was pretty epic as well, considering getting this on DVD.
  21. I have to say, for what we're paying, I could've been a little more impressed by the Hogwarts castle. It seems all of the attention is on the figs, while there's not much on the exterior of the castle itself. Still a must-buy for the parts and figs, but it doesn't feel like it's worth 120 USD. On the other hand, I'm liking the smaller sets more. This whole line is pretty expensive, but these little ones make them worth it. The Dobby's Release will be a good way to get Lucius.
  22. Wonderful entries so far, eveyone! A few that stand out to me so far (that I have not mentioned before) are: The Exo-Force Persian Version: Nice interpretation! I think mashing two themes on opposite ends of the Lego spectrum like that are the hardest- fictional futuristic sci-fi and millennium-old desert tales. The harmony in this one is perfect. Oky's night club: Funny entry. I particularly like the gold statue in the back - nice touch. Lego_maniac's Nazim Palace: That's huge! I can tell you put a lot of time into this one. When I saw it, I thought the PoP version of Hogwarts castle. Nice one.
  23. That's what I was rambling about before. I thought that by sending in your nigh actions, you'd become a Nazim. That doesn't seem too plausible now, but there's still the possibility of there being no Nazim. On the other hand, we figured it out this quickly. There probably are Nazim, they're just being sneaky. By the way, are the dead allowed to reveal their night actions?
  24. It has now been 24 hours. You may now vote. Five votes are needed for a conviction toady.
  25. The set we use is just a small section of the beach. For a better idea, take a look at the non-Lego pictures in the sign-up thread or the Day 1 thread. The island is much larger. Like the fictional island from Lost.
