LBR & S@H Product Discount Restriction (NORTH AMERICA ONLY)
Legogal replied to CopMike's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Wow! I was considering joining a local LUG, but will pass now. Sounds like the death of discounts for addicted AFOLs in the US and Canada. The recent ending of discounts for participants during major events was a major blow to my collection of large sets like the ones mentioned on this exclusion list. Maybe we should start a new thread to discuss what, if any, discounts remain for AFOLs. -
Wow! Very cool colors, roof, trees, hunky boyfirend, and overall design! Welcome to the Mothers Who Buy LEGO for Their Own Use Club!

This is much, much better than the HH! Many of us have wanted to use the HH as a base and make a real house. You have done it with such style and lovely colors, which I adore. The interior really pops, too, with such stylish furniture. Thanks for sharing this to help motivate the rest of us into action. Cheers!

WOW! This is just amazing! The first time I have seen it. The way it opens and closes is out of this world! Japanese design for buildings is just so subtle and peaceful...we have many models of their N Scale railroad buildings, and they are delightful little structures. It is my favorite style of building. Congratulations on such a fine build!

steph, What a wonderful idea to sell all sets already built!!! Who needs to build anyway? Thus would give us all more time to pick weeds in the yard, take out the trash, vacuum the crap off our dirty floors (between those &)(;-($@@):-)@);:: tiny boxes filled with you know what), watch the grass grow, and smell, but not touch, those thorny roses! Wow!

Bad bob, NICE builds! It us so much fun finding cool things for LEGO gals to do! I'll gladly buy any new theme starring females because we all want any kind if pieces we can get in those very cool colors! Wow!

Yup, it has got to be much tougher to get your hand on polybags in rural Australia. At least I have access to many Targets, Walmarts and TRU stores as well as a LEGO store 15 minutes from home. And many eBay listings and Amazon with domestic postage. I remember how hard it was to find most products I wanted while living in central Alaska for twelve years... before both Fedex and the Internet. If there is a polybag you are dying to collect, PM me and we can figure out how to send one your way. This is why LEGO needs to offer polybags to everyone through as many distribution channels as it can. It is the only fair way to serve the people.

Almaras, I agree about how much fun it is to get a well designed polybag! Something about a small package that seems so exciting and valuable...checking the prices of some of these bags reveals just how valuable they have become. Too bad LEGO can't make it easier for us to buy them by making larger runs and selling them as regular items. IS ANYONE LISTENING FROM TLG???

I hope that the tractor and other equipment are that azure blue color or something like it so it can fit anywhere. Tired of green tractors a la John Deere in the US. A farm for Friends would be wonderful!

Hahaha! This is a very entertaining thread to read as a woman....we seem to prefer Creator houses, Friends and Town sets. And Duplo as well. If she picks her own set, she will buy in to the hobby. I left a few small Architecture sets lying around last weekend while I was away on at family events, and hubby surprised me by building two of them. He never builds LEGO! So give them plenty of choices, and they may just join you. Good luck!

Roof, roof, roof, and I ain't no dog! And the chimney is first class, too! CONGRATULATIONS! Are you taking reservations for a stay in this lovely cabin? I have some Friends who would love to check in tomorrow....

BraselC: This is a lovely modular! I definitely would buy it! One thing we have to remember is the shelf height limit most of us face with our modular collections. 22 to 24 inches should be the max height so they fit on a shelf up high out if the hands of kids. We just installed IKEA Lack shelves with the hidden inside brackets 23 inches or so below the nine foot ceiling in our renovated LEGO room...for the modulars. DO NOT store heavy containers or books on these shelves because they cannot hold the weight. But they are perfect for modulars. Will post photos once the construction mess is cleaned up. IKEA shipped two 74 or so inch Lack shelves for just $31. from nearby Virginia and they arrived the next day...what a deal!

Selling Instructions for my modular buildings
Legogal replied to Kristel's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
Kristen, I am very excited about the sale of your plans on BL! Please keep both of your kidneys because someone in your family might need one!! ( I considered selling one, too, when I was a single mom for eight years and trying to buy every LEGO made for my little guy to build! I ended up searching every Walmart in the state for after Christmas markdowns up to 80 per cent! Those were the "good" old days!) Oops! My iPad can't can't resist misspelling every different word out there...drives me crazy. We all know it is Kristel, but Mr. iPad does not like your name! Aarghhhh! -
I agree. The polybags given away or sold while sets are in the store are a brilliant idea! We get to add them to our sets or keep them as mementos. Such fun! Also the seasonal sets have been outstanding this year. Spring, summer and fall are also fantastic polybags. All these bags make fantastic gifts and are great for topping off a LEGO purchase that is just short of earning a free gift, which usually is another.....polybag! Hooooorah! We are hooked, and I love it. LEGO gets their full price without discounting all sales, and we get our polybag fix! Everyone wins!

LT, oops...my mistake! Thought you were in Singapore. Adelaide is a long way from there for sure! I have only visited Australia once and remember that it took about 24 hours to fly there from Alaska in 1972 when I was in uni. Things look so organized in your hardware store. Makes me want to buy a tool or two for my next project. A great MOC!

Mr. Gold has proposed marriage to me in my dreams. Guess I don't need to meet him before we marry? Help! There is not enough air and free space in my Lego set boxes....the pieces are dying for lack of oxygen. We need zillions more minifigs for building armies....there are just not enough armies around IMHO! How can we expect world peace without ungodly huge armies everywhere? We need a much, much larger Tower Bridge Set. This one doesn't even fill up my entire 2700 sq ft/ 300 sq meter house, not to mention the second floor. There are way too many female figures in sets now days. Who needs LEGO women anyway? Ditto with pink bricks....who needs pink bricks anyway? It is too easy to tell the difference between different colors of bricks in the instruction manuals that come with large sets. Please make the instructions more difficult to follow so we can't build anything in less than four hours. No adult should be allowed in the monthly instore mini-builds....no sane adult plays with LEGO anyway. Please sell fewer special polybag sets so we all can pay lots more for each one. (That's all for now folks! Gee, that was fun!)

The past two months I have begun collecting LEGO polybags...those little sets with less than 100 parts most of the time. Some of the designs are just outstanding. Has anyone else begun collecting these sets, and what are your favorites? So far the flamingo (40068) from this week's monthly in store build is my favorite, but the clown fish (30025) is a close second. (You can view these sets on brickset.)

Gosh, have not been in a movie theatre in years! Too noisy for my and hubby's taste, so we watch a few at home every six months or so! Too busy I guess. I did just finish 150 plus episodes of The West Wing on flix, and it was outstanding. But I am a strong Martin Sheen fan, especially his film The Way. Our other favorite this year was The Intouchables. Last year I made it through McLeod's Daughters, which was great the first few seasons. The slower a film is, the more we like it! And I do collect lots of film scores even if we don't see the films.

GBC, You have my sympathy as it must be very hard to find decent LEGO prices in Israel. It might be worth taking a trip at some point and even going to a LEGO event in another country to establish some contacts with others. While many of us can afford higher LEGO prices, we generally would not pay them. SO I understand where you are coming from and what you want. Government taxes are a tough nut to crack...ours are going up quickly as states and cities decide they need to squeeze us for more tax, and internet sales are heading that way also, so US prices for most items will be going up soon. I feel really sorry for the person in a distant country who cannot afford even a small LEGO set. My DIL grew up in a poor family in China and had one small brick set (not LEGO) and built that about a thousand times as a child. Now that she lives in the US, she still has a hard time accepting that Americans in general can afford so many LEGO sets. Maybe we have to encourage LEGO to make smaller, less expensive sets more easily available in other less served countries. But then they can see the latest and greatest sets, so that would still be a bummer for them. Scratch that crazy idea....

Wow! This looks great! Love the new ceiling and AC ducts....very spiffy looking. The green goes well with the color scheme. Your tools fit perfectly....wish we had one of your stores near our house! So did you receive any LEGO for your birthday or did you buy yourself some? (That is what I usually do although the kids did get me the bank with the ATM machine two years ago.) My BD is this week also, but I am holding out for double points or some other special before I make another big LEGO purchase. Already picked up several free Friends polybags the past two weeks and some more from other themes that come with purchases this month. Do you collect polybags, and which theme if so? Where do you buy your LEGO in Singapore? Or does it come mostly from abroad? Any good sales on sets at Legoland Malaysia? I hope that they have a good PAB for your use. Cheers!

Sounds like you need to make some good friends in places where LEGO prices are lower!!! Hint, Hint! But with the way that international shipping rates have gone up, this may no longer be much of an option in many countries. Do you know anyone who travels to countries where LEGO prices are lower? Good luck!

Yup, the book looks great as a download! I may still buy the set after reading the book online. TLG is to be complimented for even attempting such a set these days in a world that has gone digital in almost every aspect. Building or growing something real with ones hands is something from which everyone can benefit. It would be fun to source all the parts from BL in one totally different color....like beige/tan because so many buildings are that color. But I already have most if not all of those parts and many more to select from, which will make building much easier than being limited to the bricks in the set.

As to the color of the bricks in the Friends Jewelry Box, what looks like lavender in the photo online is actually dark pink. Here is as far as I got in the build without instructions....help! http://www.flickr.com/photos/75868658@N06/ Yup, I agree with the others that a shade of lavender would have been outstanding. But will settle for what I got because these sets are so rare.
