  1. The forums I have actually joined have all been yearly. Not another monthly bill.
  2. Lego City was ALSO on bogo50 off and is not cleared out in the same way Friends is.
  3. Is anyone noticing that Lego Friends is completely cleared out in the stores around you? I even went to Lego Shop at Home and all of the sets are Out of Stock!
  4. My son got a Duplo brick box for his birth-day (IE it came to the hospital the day he was born). We took 8-10 pieces out of it and put it on his toy shelf at about 10 months and he would hand me a piece and I'd put it on the creation... and etc. My daughter got really interested in playing with Duplo about 20 months. (but we didn't have 8-10 pcs on the toy shelf. just a whole box of her brother's old Duplos)
  5. Of course. Just like they do with City. And Star wars. And Castle. And Space... EVERY series Lego puts out is risky. There are not infinite set options. Period. But if City can tolerate their interminable Fire and Police repeats, I think Friends can tolerate a few repeats as well (especially of set ideas that have gone out of print but girls may still want for themselves -- do we really think NO girl will want a Laboratory set now that Olivia's Workshop has gone out of stock?)
  6. I'm not so sure the levers approximate "flags" to me. The reason I'd display it from the back is that all I think is "levers" when I see that part. Not flags :(
  7. Which Friends sets are you looking at? I decided to delay to October to get the Friends Pool and the horse trailer. I'll need to add some other stuff to get it to $99. Maybe the Garbage truck? And/Or Shelob Attacks since I want Sam and the price of him elsewhere is HALF the price of the set!

    Summertime

Oops. I thought it was a dish of water for the dog. So he wouldn't drink out of the pool!
  9. I love the telephone too. Do you remember where you got the handset from?
  10. I've been looking for Grandmas and not finding a one! I think you got lucky!
  11. There's going to be a new movie set in the same universe. http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-207_162-57602602/j.k-rowling-to-pen-new-harry-potter-inspired-film-for-warner-bros/
  12. I got a few over the weekend but got multiples of characters I'm not interested. Any site out there that is trading CMFs?
  13. Isn't this a Creator Set, not a City set? Or does it matter because it can be used in City stuff?
  14. I know some Lego Creator sets are billed as "Expert" Where do you find the "Beginner" sets? How about "Intermediate" I'm pretty good at putting sets together from regular instructions -- but I have no experience with a lot of the seemingly complicated builds I see in MOCs here. So I am wondering how you learned the more advanced builds? Is there a book that explains different types of building? Is it a matter of doing harder and harder sets (I'm sure part of this is that sets with higher price points can have more complicated builds. Most of my Legos to this point have been in the $25 and under category)? Recommendations?
  15. I'm not sure he knows who Lois or Wonderwoman is. He was the one told me both sets had "2 good guys and 1 villain" and he chose the one where "they were all boys" Most of his superhero knowledge comes from the playground and The leveled readers that are things like "Meet the Avengers" because we have not watched the movies at home.
  16. I did wonder if the Friends world was going to be limited by the characters -- how many cars can one girl have, after all? And boats. And hobbies. I was figuring they'd expand the base of core characters and delve deeper into other characters. A new world (new Neighborhood? Maybe set in a different "feel" than generic city) gives another direction to go.
  17. Its glow in the dark? I didn't know that! I'll point it out. (He's just turned 6 and still needs my husband to help him put the sets together. If I'd known better I'd have pushed him a little toward easier City sets... but I didn't realize it'd be the problem it has been. He'll grow into it!) Yes, he definitely wanted 2 good guys and 1 villain in the set. He's big on the good vs evil dichotomy. (He loves the Tron movies for this reason. It is SO easy to tell who is good and who is bad.)
  18. Its just a data point. In amongst the whole controversy of why Lego doesn't put more girl figures in their sets. I didn't think it'd be a big deal. After all, I played with sets that had boys in them, growing up. I certainly didn't expect to see my son making a decision on such a little thing! (though I guess it may have been a case of all else being equal to him)
  19. Not sure whether to place this here or over in the Friends topic My son finished a summer workbook and went to a local toyshop that was giving 50% off up to $25 off for that. He chose a Lego set. It came down to a choice between Iron Man Extremis Sea Port Battle and Superman Black Hero Escape and he chose Iron Man because it had 3 boy figures in it instead of 2 boys and 1 girl.
  20. I saw the Fall polybag at the Lego store when I was there at the end of July grabbing my Hot Dog stand :)
  21. Right now my favorite polybag is the Friends one with the ice cream stand. I need another one. Then I'll have 4 wheels for a wagon train!
  22. A farm. yay!
  23. Daisy: I saw the garbage truck this weekend (or was it recycling truck? I forget. It looked like a garbage truck) and I was really excited about it too. Haven't decided whether to purchase. i REALLY want the Friends pool and that's a larger set so keeping me from pulling the trigger on other things I like. But I hadn't seen that truck before and its quite tempting.
  24. I think you are going to find this scientist Quite Popular. I'm seeing it pop up on facebook from friends who are NOT big Lego fans. "look what Lego is doing" And getting lots of thumbs up and rave reviews.
  25. odd. I don't know a single child that watches the Simpsons. Certainly they don't play Simpsons when they are out running around. They play Avengers, Spiderman, Grumpy Sparrows and even Spongepants guy. But not Simpsons.
