  1. This is a really sweet old-school truck and trailer. The spare tyre is an extra detail worth looking for. If I am not mistaken, you even used some old wheels, right? Well done.
  2. As mentioned in the first post, the 1x1 round plates were inspired by Derfel Cadarn's Guide. I think they're great for stone foundations as seen in DC's MOCs, so I went ahead to use it as a stone foundations for modular houses. I have to admit, this style is growing on me. I live in a flat with no terace/balcony, and that is something I miss. So all my modulars are a sort of manifestation of something I'd like to have...including a little back terace. And thanks for the nice compliments.
  3. One has to go outside the DGTH house to use the bathroom. I know... A secret passage would be a great solution, but then the whole neighbourhood uses the same bathroom, there would be just too many secret passages. And thanks for the nice comments, everyone. I find it interesting, as some people like the green door and the lime/yellow tiling, whereas the others don't. My plan was to make a house more colourful, and since dark green is not so lively, I included the bright tiles.
  4. I know about that. I never get enough space for a bathroom, so when there's a need, my minifigs just go and use the neighbour's bathroom. That one has everything they need. About the green door, they are a bit bright, but I couldn't figure it out what colour would go best with them . So I went for different greens, but I just might try black ones. Probably DBG would be my first choice, but I don't have any. EDIT: bad spelling
  5. That's a nice house with some great details. I like the bay window the most. It's obvious it's inspired by GG, but it looks equally impressive in a 16 wide building. Also the barbecue looks nice in the back garden. It'd be great to see the house in real bricks and also from other angles to show off the side left from the bay windows. The roof should definitely be lower or perhaps, a window could be installed to break off the roof. Anyway, it's well done.
  6. B-RM-5E After a long time, I finally managed to put together another modular building, this time a 16 wide one. I went for a 16 wide building so I could build it in a shorter time and use some non-abundant colours from my colection, but in the end it took me more than 2 months to finish it off anyway. I guess I can admit publicly that I'm a slow builder. To get to the topic, the house from the front looks like this. It has a stone foundations from the Derfel Cadarn's era. I continued with the 'stone' work on the top floor around the little balcony. The house can be divided into 4 sections, all modestly furnished. My favourite detail of this building is the bay window in the middle floor. This window was the centre of the build, and the rest of the house was more or less built around it. I included it as in my opinion a bay window can make a great space for sitting, reading or observing the street. The terace at the back of the house has a similar stone foundation. It's a place for leisure while enjoying a chocolate shake with cream. The sliding doors lead to the kitchen in the first floor. There is room for only the basics (a table with two chairs, a fridge, a stove and an oven, some cupboards and a sink) in the kitchen. The spiral stairs lead to the second floor, namely a living room. There's a TV, a coffe table and a couch. Also, as I include bookshelves in almost all my houses, I tried to made them differently in a corner fashion with offset shelves. I also tried another technique for a couch, and I made it in a style of a sofa-bed, so visitors are welcome to spend a night on the couch. From this point, the bay window looks a great place to put some flowers or sit down to read a book. The spiral stairs lead to the third floor's bedroom. The bedroom is even more simpler due to lack of space. I tried different combinations for the furniture. The final touch to this room is the exotic flower in the pot that turns into a green snake at night. Since I somehow make new topics for showing my MOCs on holidays, let me conclude with a 'Happy March 8th' to all FFOLs out here. Hope you enjoyed it!
  7. More than the earthquake, I admire your building's style. The colour combination looks great - dark tan and tan and dark medium flash (Is it correct?) together with the 'brick' bricks create a distinct texture that looks very impressive. Also, the plain roof with offset slopes adds a great touch to the building. The best part of this MOC is the effect of the earthquake - leaving all the tiny and some not so tiny cracks in the facade. It's done really well and has achieved a realistic effect. I'm liking this a lot.
  8. Well done! I like how you improved your model. It looks better with tiling. I guess my first impression of green plates is grass, and that doesn't fit in the house. But more than that, you added my favourite room - Lego room. The containers for storage look great, and the best part of it is the 'modular Lego layout' on the table.
  9. As I do lab work, I find this MOC very amusing. Luckily, I'm not that clumsy, otherwise I'd need all those new brickforge elements to spill on the floor. The belt for test tube looks great, I'm guessing it's another brickforge piece? All in all, it's a great scene.
  10. That's a lovely scene, specially for a first MOC. What I like about it the most, is that how you captured nature really nicely with some simple bricks. The rocks look great, and so does the waterfall. I never liked the bear mold, as I find it unuseful (for me at least), but this MOC wouldn't be the same without the bear. Well done!
  11. These are great! Your son is 1) very young and 2) very talented. I plan to show these to my 8-yrs old nephew (who is (by his words) too old for LEGO, but likes my 'adult' LEGO), I'm sure he'll be as impressed as I am.
  12. Thanks for this review! After seeing first leaked photos and then the official video for TH, I like the set even more. After going through the review, I know for sure I'm getting it! It's a nice architectural design and it seems that building it can teach me some new tricks. On the other hand, if opportunity comes I'm hoping to get another one, for part out and MOCes.
  13. This modification looks amazing! The building is even more imposing, and you managed to keep its style perfectly while improving some details. I prefer a bigger table in the third floor, and the extra rooms (toilet, archive, and the third floor room) all add more realistic touch to a 'properly' working Town Hall. Adding small windows on the side looks fine, the only thing I miss is some old tree with large branches all the way to the top of the building. Other than that, you did a great job with this MOD!
  14. This MOC is full of amazing building techniques. The arch above the door is very impressive and it got my attention almost immediately. On the second look, the amazing floor tiling was revealed, and to be honest, I was so much into finding interesting little details, that I actually missed the 'bad' guys up on the wall.
  15. It looks amazing! Once more GE has proved to be great for size modification, but I believe you're one of the few who went for a smaller scale. The building looks great from the front and fits perfectly with the Pet shop. The side is a bit confusing with all the windows, but I'm guessing your planning to put some public area next to it (a small park or similar). Benches in the park would be great for window shopping!
  16. As you said, nothing fancy and small, but it's lovely. The interior is full of amazing and surprising details. You managed quite well to put everything in. My favourite is definitely the bath tub - I haven't seen it like that before.
  17. There are some amazing brick tecniques. I like how you made the sun seem very large, and the sun rays look amazing by using tridents. Also, the perspective was captured perfectly with a small building far down below. Icarus and it's wings are amazingly done, and you chose his faces wisely to represent his joy of flying high, and fear of falling with broken (or melted) wings. It's an amazing work.
  18. Pierre, thanks for the dimensions. I'm making my order on my monday, but I'll have to wait till the 30th to get it. It's still better than spending another 100 EUR to drive to Munich for this set alone. Five?! What are you going to do with so many? Well, I'm hoping to see a TH review soon, and some MOD/MOC of five!
  19. Honestly, I have to say that GE is probably the only modular building so far, for which size is no limit. The quite opposite is true, the bigger the better. Your modification looks great, but Morty's is just amazing (only thing missing is more goods on sale ).
  20. This might be a strange question about Town Hall. Does anyone know approximate dimensions of the box? I'm planning order via S@H to Danmark, and then it would be packed in the luggage of my family when they'll be visiting me. I'm not sure the box would fit the luggage though. A backup plan is to get the set without the box, but it's somehow more exciting to get the box, admiring all the details and then opening it slowly.
  21. I must agree, it looks really great so far! I actually like the front door better than the door in the 32-wide GE. Seeing your progress makes me want to modify my GE into a 16-wide. I'm looking forward seeing more on this!
  22. She's sweet! And she behaves really nice, posing so calmly. Joke aside, I like how you added a dark red 'line' to her back, and SNOTing out her figure is amazing. Really well done.
  23. We had a similar system back then when I was younger. The bricks were named by their length, such as fours or twos or sixes, but then there we also distinguished between 2xsomething and 1xsomething bricks by using 'double' or 'single', respectively. The plates were 'plates', and tiles we had none. The slopes and inverted slopes were uniformly called 'roofs' or 'inverted roofs'. But most often, the bricks were simply named by their use, so inverted slopes were sometimes named 'toilet' as well. We didn't have so many different types of bricks, so some of the bricks had multiple names, depending on the usage.
  24. As others have said, you did an amazing job! I like the building's style and shape, as it really makes it stand out more. You also used some interesting building techniques, such as the railings on the front steps, and the unusual placement of windows in the left wing of the building. The interiors is equally impressive. What I like the most is the chandelier and the panelled, white and yellow wall. Also, the plants give extra life to the building, and they are nicely composed with different plant elements.
  25. Great work there! I agree 100%. I have enough red bikes, and including more colours would be great! My favourite colours (from your pic) are all four blues, dark green and lime, and dark pearl gray. Actually, any of these colours would be great!
