That would be a great idea.

Nice LDD. I can't wait to see the actual MOC. -
LDD inventories for current train sets?

Great idea! Making alternate models from a single box is what Lego was about when quite a while ago I was a kid... When I browse brickshelf, I often see very nice alternate builds for some creator sets such as 31012 (family house) or 31026 (bike shop and café) -
Custom and motorized Train 79111 Lone Ranger

Nice! How does the front bogie behave in curves? -
I just could not wait... So I dismantled quit a few old things, shelved building plans, spent the whole day building and here it is : As you can see, I used quite a few enlighten printed parts ... Sorry for the poor lighting quality: it's night and I am not a photographer A tender is in the works, but for the time being it is quite rough. By the way, would SMSPTB bean acceptable shortcut?

Super Mega Steam Power Train Builder-- LEGO(R) IDEAS(tm)
Frank STENGEL replied to James Mathis's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Thank you for the .lxf files. Makes one want to get the whole shebang. Your ideas project just gained a new supporter. -
There is a typo in the link: The period should't be there... The idea is great. I'm looking forward to seeing your finished project. It will give another choice to the standard 40 stud diametre bends.
-
Good question. There is some friction due to the flanges, therefore causing a slowdown in curves.
-
Same here. When I first saw these tracks I actually believed they were ME Model tracks
-
I haven't found any problems with the spacing. I had to slightly modify the front and back trucks to prevent them from jumping track.

Browsing your flickr stream, I stumbled on rails... They look certainly interesting. Are they home-made? -
Thank you for the extra photos. The building technique is quite interesting. I'll see if I can adapt it to one of my covered wagons...
-
Nice! How did you build the sides? I imagine you used jumper plates...

Modifying track geometry and homemade 90 deg crossing
Frank STENGEL replied to v6TransAM's topic in LEGO Train Tech
The track is ok. The points certainly aren't flat. -
Good work. Your design captures the essence of the EU07. Is is going to be powered ? One thing though : the bars holdign the flags for the plow look quite low. It could be that in the finished version they touch the track...

Indeed the track looks a lot like BanBao track. It seems that ausini is also producing for store brands (you buy bulk: we put your name on it). That's how I was able to buy the set. The only place I have consistently found them is on aliexpress, and that at prices that made lego almost cheap
-
Well, I tried with an ausini set a while back (http://003.tsdn.net/...px?id=272&type=) The thing is that there is a big difference between what's shown on the site (3D renderings) and the actual product. To be precise: Flesh is actually dark tan The light brown is actually medium brown (but the stickers are the right colors) There is no printing (i.e. no camouflage effect, just a sticker set for some of the details) What I got was a reddish brown tank with zombie looking minifigs
-
The results look quite all right. I for one would love to try printing a wider curve (R56 like the one promised by ME models) in order to have parallel curves....

What would be your wish? If you had one wish.
Frank STENGEL replied to ust60's topic in LEGO Train Tech
As most posters say. I would love: 1. better switches; 2. standard plus one curves. -
Amazing ! Basically a wholesale replacement for IR. What interests me the most is the battery system. I have toyed with lipos before, but have failed to find a protection system for them...

Indeed, it is a type 120A (french numbering, 240 in other circles) from the chemins de fer de l'ouest. There aren't that many photos of a similar loc. This page (sorry in french, look for "1860 à 1875" and after) has got a few. There is no roof above the conductor: just a windshield. The first car was a luggage car similar to the first one found there.

Which BR 94? There were quite a few variations in shape and size...

Thes coaches are beautiful. Am I dreaming, or are they 17 wide?
