i thought of posting this moc a few days ago, but didn't for some reason... it looks great in a dio! a bit small for my taste though...
-
oh yeah.... it would be nice to have a real space once again, something that's closer to a ferrari than than a volvo, if you know what i mean....
-
it looks pretty coooool! but: as you said so yourself, you need some controls, so push your pilot backwards and give him ... something... i'd replace the bionicle parts by large black antennas i also wonder what makes this moc a heavy fighter? usually, a heavy fighter means it's quite large, has at least two guys, has some sort of internal bomb bay and a couple of extra guns... i think you should add retractable landing gear. you've got loooooots of room underneath your cockpit, do something with it... what's in the back? it seems you're waisting loooots of valuable space...
-
but what makes you think i'm not keeping an eye on... you... and... space... trust me, if space is really good or... really bad (ofcourse, that will never happen, cos space is after all, Lego's most brilliant theme ever), it'll be pretty tough to not post too much... and, btw, i wonder why so many people ask sooooo many questions about the ranks... as long as you behave, every member is equal here... sort of anyway... post more on space than on ranks i say!

great review of what seems to be a great ship! i do think, however, that the hull is a bit small, they should have added an extra hull section in the middle. it seems to me that the deck is a bit crowded now. a little bit more space for all the stuff at the deck would have been better...

please please please, NO WHITE parts!!! especially if Blacktron is involved!!!!! I DO hope that Lego understand they cannot fool around with Blacktron's reputation among space fans! I'm really crossing my fingers here. If they screw up then i'm going to be seriously pissed

there's no way i'm gonna trash an old box. i put those together in plastic 31 liter boxes and store them in a seperate room. no chance in hell that i'l fold them up or anything... all the newer boxes (2000-2008) i throw away, except for a few ones, like café corner... it's not just that i'm not really into the modern sets, it's also a question of too many oversized boxes... you just can't keep it all
-
g, people... calm down... yes, i'm concerned with Blacktron's legacy too, but as long as we don't have pictures or some more detailed info, it's not worth getting nasty over it...

well there's far more technic involved because it allows more playability. in the older days of sw, you needed to open wings by hand and those wings were attached to the hull with hinges. today they're using technic stuff. it enhances the playability of those models. the downside of this is more complicated technic stuff, but oh well... i guess it also shows that Lego is far more involved in playability than building models nowadays because kids are playing with sets more than they're building.

well what to say? next to the classic xwing and MF was this set the one that turned Lego sw into a huge success. a true legend in Lego's second life... I even find this set is unique because it was still sw created with bricks of the old Lego universe. Don't know if i have one MISB though...

World Economic Crisis - How will it affect our favourite toy?
snefroe replied to frogstudio's topic in Community
1) for a veeeery long while we had an extremely low inflation of less than 2%. borrowing money was veeeeery cheap, as a consequence, many people decided to buy a house or property, even though they could not really afford one. Banks didn't mind because they were signing deals on a daily basis, and they never bothered about the high risks they were taking. Then inflation and unemployement rates went up, so loanes where not only getting more expensive, many people lost their job. people could deal with their loanes anymore. banks lost loooooooots of money ... this is what caused the problem in the US. Many other banks in the world are shareholders and investors in the US banks, so as a result, they lost quite a lot of money too. We, Europeans, are lucky though... European governments and all European banks automatically back up each other in case of major financial trouble... For instance, right now the largest Benelux bank, Fortis, has a major financial problem because they just bought another bank for too much money. three governments are now buying a part of the bank for about 12 billion euro, only to sell it later again when the value of the bank's shares is ok again... there's no risk, nor has there ever been, for anyone's savings. Besides, it's the US own fault. If you don't regulate your financial sector and believe in an extreme way of capitalism, like the Americans seem to do, then this is part of the game. The fact that the Capitol did not accept the last plan to deal with the problem only shows that US politicians are... and i'm being polite here ... morons who should be jailed... 2) the reason why so many people feel there's a crisis is because A: everybody, including the media, says it's a crisis (if you repeat something long enough, people will start to believe it's true); B: prices have gone up because demand is high. not just for luxurious products, but for basic things, like practically any type of common food, wood... we're just being confronted here with what so many people have been saying for decades: this space ship called earth does not have enough provisions on board for 8 billion people, not if they all consume as much as we, people of the west, do... 3) yep, houses are getting really expensive too and salaries are not going up in the same way, so you can buy less with what you make and we want more and more. So suddenly, we feel there's a crisis going on. there isn't... last week we heard here in belgium that the number of travels to sunny countries far far away has gone up with 40% People have never ever spent so much on travels, cars, restaurants as in 2008... Besides, in terms of unemployement, it's never been as low as today... -
i'm ok with the set availability, the main problem is a lack of an actual Lego shop, so you have to either go to Köln for parts/exclusives or order them online... i believe Malta is the worst...

great to see you're still out there, Hobbes, even though i think you're playing more with dipers than with Lego! '8274'... hmmmm... already that experienced.... hmmm... soon she'll be moc-ing your blue locomotive then!!

Power Miners: New Sets for 2009
snefroe replied to cartoondude's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
i think the story is kinda thin though... chrystal eating creatures turning into monsters risking the planet's integrity? hmmmm... i really wonder if this isn't even too farfetched for small children... children always need a clear picture of it all... they like Police or firefighters because they get a very basic but universal story, like a police officer catching a criminal or a fireman putting out the fire... Castle and space normally have very simple and easy to recognise stories too, but this one? hmmmm... nope, don't see it all too well... are these guys supposed to catch the monsters, to kill them, to look for a peacefull solution or are they explorers? i don't see the lines of a simple story here, i see a theme that is balancing between the adventurers story or a conflict story without making up its mind about what it's going to be... -
LEGO Fan Welt Event in Cologne Germany

i'm planning on going, depending on my agenda ... will you be there, Mike? -
well it was a weird day, that's for sure... i remember i was listening to the radio when i was working at university, when the reporter suddenly said a sports plane had crashed into the WTC-tower... at that point i just thought "what a moron". it was only an hour later or so that everybody started to grasp the entirety of what had happened... After that, i only had one word for it all: "surreal"... however, i agree with Sandy. the political perspective of this story is very important, so i'll shut up now too...

well to be honest, it shouldn't be a problem to stack them like this. Lego bricks are severely tested on a regular basis to see if problems of haircracks occur because of this type of usage. besides, many people build models and keep those assembled for many years, so if there were a problem, it would be wide spread and serious enough for lego to communicate about it and improve the production process in such a way that the problem would be resolved... however, if it makes you feel better not to stack them like this, then don't... i also find that current plates and bricks aren't as strong as the old ones, so maybe it is better to find another way of stacking.

this without the bridge.

LOOK AT THIS: Is this how the community taught you to build? look how crappy you put those bricks together!!! One earthquake and your entire gate falls to the ground!! really, you've been watching to many Lego displays, my danish mocer! this is terrible! really!!! SHAME ON YOU!!! i'm pretty sure your daughter does a better job than this!!! please please please, take this offline, i can't stand to watch this anymore!! apart from that, i'm still kinda lost on what it is that you're trying to do. In case you're going to build a larger yellow castle but within the style of classic castle, you may want to build a "donjon" at the center of the of the field. There's an excellent "donjon" on the box of yellow castle... it would be nice to show off a moc based on the actual castle and an official alternative ... ah yes, the gate... you DO know that the gates of classic castle are red, right? as opposed to... yellow? are you blind? and btw, you may want to check out the classic castle in the idea book of the day... set number 6000 i believe it is... that was always a great inspiration for any kind of classic castle in those days

i'm wondering... do your pupils have to make a review as a way to say "thank you" to EB or can they learn all the stuff from the masters here and then put reviews on other sites instead of EB? i mean, you can ask them to do a review in return for the teaching, right?

it's hard to imagine that Lego would ever even think of ending that production. my guess is they'll keep on using it in creator sets or so...
