So far the set I would recommend the most, especially to people on the fence, is the Stealth Shell in Pursuit. It's reasonably priced The Stealth Bike is a decent build with some unique parts Fishface is a fun and interesting figure And it comes with Raphael, a Foot Soldier and some mutagen canisters - even if you've never heard of Fishface or the Stealth Bike, these three elements are nice and nostalgia inducing. Fishface's jetskit thing is probably the weak link in the set, but it's nice piece fodder. Thoughts on the other sets: *Kraang's lab escape - I plan on buying a couple more of this set to troop build. The "cell" to put MIkey in is pretty blah, but Mikey, his nunchucks, the foot soldier and the kraang are all winners in my book. Plus you get pizza! *Shredder's Dragon Bike - an interesting build and a great source of parts, but I find the final bike model itself to be laughably too large when compared to the minifigures. It's hard to take it seriously. Might try and MOC it into a car. Donatello's cool, but he comes with the superior Robot Rampage set. Getting a Shredder is the only reason to pick this one up, IMO. *Baxter's Robot Rampage - probably the second place recommendation from me. The mech is cool and fun, with some neat weapon gimmicks. It's the kind of build I could easily see showing up in an Agents or Sci-Fi theme. You get April, which is a bonus, and Don and Raph. I really like the turtle go-cart. The plane thingee isn't as cool, but it's not a deal breaker at all. *Shellraiser - I find it hard to recommend this one. The Shellraiser itself was a frustrating build and the final model is not very show accurate (from what I can tell, so far it's only glanced briefly in the opening credits). I've started MOCing it slightly to try and fix that (there are some HUGE color differences that I won't be able to overcome, at least not without some serious rebuilding). The Dogpound figure is awesome, but I dislike Mikey with the tongue-sticking-out faceprint, the foot soldier in red pants, and the Kraang android figure pales in comparison to the walker from the Lab set. I also think I'll prefer the Leonardo from the Lair set once I finally get it, but right now this is the only Leo option I have. He's so angry looking, though. Having said all that I'm having a ton of fun MOCing the Shellraiser and the more I play with it the more it endears itself to me. But it's still hard to recommend to someone else.

Legends of Chima 2013 (Action Figures)
Hobbestimus replied to DarkSurgeXL's topic in LEGO Action Figures
Wow, I don't usually dig on Lego Action Figures, but those are kinda neat. I think it's the animal heads winning me over. -
Nice job. The group shot is jealousy invoking.

Nice collection. Your Demolition Man is surprisingly effective. Saw Sly in it right away.

I wonder if the Gorillas will use Woody's long arms...has that been speculated on, yet?

These are nothing too spectacular, but I wanted to show some TMNT love in this thread:

Got everything but the Sewer Lair this morning. My in-store prices were not as badly marked up as the website. And I got 10% off by signing up for the TRU credit card. So yay. (I've built the Kraang and the Stealth Shell sets so far...very cool)

Awesome! Thanks, J2G.

I'd love to see Shredder with a pair of "flesh" arms, if that's possible. His design on the show has his shoulders and biceps exposed, and I wonder if the "blade" piece will cover his forearms enough to create the same effect with all flesh colored arms.

Thanks for the reviews, J2G. I'll be hitting TRU everyday between now and Christmas.

Sooooo jealous.

I think AFOL's need to suck it up and check out the new show. :) It is superior to the old one, while being very respectful of what has come before. And I say this as someone who grew up loving - LOVING - the old show. I think the sets, taken just as Lego sets, might have their flaws, but all my Turtlefan buttons are being properly pushed by the minifigures (even Fishface and Dogpound).

Single panel or not, I laughed.

I love Monterey! My wife and I try and go up there a lot (we're LA based). We went twice this year, in fact. Welcome to the board!

I'll definitely be using some Chima croc pieces for Leatherhead if Lego doesn't deliver an official one, but a Hulk/Wampa sized Leatherhead would be awesome. And TRU cannot have these sets fast enough for me.

Wow, these are fun. I'll be watching all month.

Hobbestimus replied to Thrash's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
LOL, my wife got a package from Brickwarriors yesterday.I don't think she was counting on me checking the mail. -
I'm in Northridge, California (the San Fernando Valley). I didn't even think to price check since my wife has me on a Lego Embargo until after Christmas, lol.

Don't know if this is news or not, but I saw High Speed Chase at Toys R Us tonight. So, they're starting show up.
