  1. OOC: so the unblocked door we saw just before the breakroom connects to the left path from the opening foyer?
  2. "I'd prefer we clear out the rest of this floor before we move down. We should also escort these miners back to the entrance, unless they'd rather go on their own." "Here is a map I've drawn of where we've been so far. Is this accurate?"
  3. I'm not sure what that adjective means, but I'm sure Darksten will do his best to stomp them out in that manner.
  4. "Odd--it did seem to leave one, though, the one it used to crush the Minoid, where we found him. Does this look familiar?" Arthur shows the bearded miner the sketch of the footprint. "A weapon? Can you describe it? Or better yet, can you draw a sketch?" He pulls out a blank paper and pen and hands it to the bald miner.
  5. Kill it with fire, before they arm themselves with the nerf bat!
  6. "We're Heroes of Heroica," Arthur added. "The name's Arthur. Any chance you were able to see what caused the cave-in?"
  7. My big worry is that limiting the effects to 10 Rounds would encourage QMs to try to make more ultra-long battles to "wait out" the Heroes' buffs.
  8. "Right, then...behind me, everyone. My shield should protect us from any stray shrapnel." Arthur stands back, placing himself in front of the others and bracing for impact.
  9. "We were not--what are they?"
  10. "Let's explore the breakroom, then, though I'd rather we keep the path to the lower mine blocked until we're ready to go down. Is there any way we can assist?"
  11. "I see." Arthur is also ready to move on.
  12. IDEA! What if the "Heroica Cocktail" is moved to Elphaba's stock? This really is an availability issue, once the items aren't readily available, people won't use them so much.
  13. Not really. The argument of "I need to balance against the players who are always buffed" falls apart once players can't always be buffed anymore. Rebalancing for consumables would be seen as a poor design decision, and would go out of practice. Meanwhile, the buffs would then feel more powerful, since they wouldn't be used as often and would be more powerful because QMs wouldn't be balancing around them.
  14. It's gotta be pull or nothing; a price increase just limits them to Rogues.
  15. The flip side of the coin is the cost of consumables. I generally won't use a consumable unless a.) I see an opportunity for direct profit through its use or b.) I believe that there is an enemy/fight coming up that will require me to use them to survive. The only final solution I see is to take (some of?) the positive effect consumables out of the Marketplace. This would then make them scarcer resources that players would hesitate to use frivolously, and thus QMs would have no reason to rebalance for them. (See, for example, the way I use Jinxy Juice or Pie's Noxious Venom.)
  16. Arthur nods thoughtfully. "Out of curiosity, why did you continue training as a Druid? Why not pick another path that might help you keep the transformation in check?"
  17. *yoink* Congratulations, this is now on all of my NPCs that are not by necessity (controlled by QM). I'd actually like to see it more often--will help a lot with NPCs being more than just minions.
  18. "I'm sorry--a heart? Well, there goes the automaton theory--though to be honest, it doesn't make much sense. If it's a living thing, why would its heart be visible?" As he muses, Arthur also hands one of his own Smelling Salts over to Erdathcath. "Thanks for that in battle, by the way--it really paid off. Speaking of things said in battle, I'm still quite interested in hearing more about the 'half-tree' thing." For more reasons than you know...
  19. Cleric-Potions? Even for higher-level Clerics, there's Grand Potions available fairly cheaply; it's the Scroll-use and other secondary abilities that make player Clerics useful.
  20. Arthur frowns. "Invincible how, exactly? To be invincible in one manner usually means being vulnerable in another."
  21. Loot Distribution: Erdathcath: 126 Gold, Fire Bomb (since I'm assuming you plan to go Cannoneer) Grimwald: 126 Gold, Smoke Bomb, Plague Venom Arthur: 22 Gold "Minoid, am I correct in thinking you are capable of using additional weapons now? If so, I suggest you borrow my Hollow-Blade Dagger and slot your Remedy into it for swift emergency use, and I suggest Lady Erdathcath lends you her Quick Bow as well so you are better-equipped for ranged combat." "In any event, I agree it would be best to move on, but first Erdathcath and I ought to dig with our shovels--there's no telling what other valuables these rats may have hoarded." "Tell me, Mas--Minoid, what can you tell me about this mine? In your time down here, have you been able to formulate any theories as to the cause of its unusual composition? I'm starting to wonder if perhaps the Goland's origins and those of the giant you encountered might somehow be linked."
  22. "Part wood and part elf?" Arthur gives Erdathcath a quizzical look. "If I may ask, how did that come about?"
  23. OOC: Overkill. "Of course I knew you weren't a dwarf, Master Grimwald, you haven't insulted me or tried to rob me blind or psychotically tried to sabotage the entire party." Arthur shakes his head. "I don't have a lot of experience with dwarves outside of Heroica, but the ones that have been attracted to our organization seem to be among the worst of the lot. I really don't see how anyone could confuse you with them." "If you could focus on making those rats Frail, Master Grimwald, I'd appreciate it. I'd rather not risk your getting injured now if we can avoid it. Everyone else: pile onto Charcoal Rat A, I'll take the other one for now." One hand goes to his sword s he estimates the strength of his enemy. If the Minoid rolled another SHIELD: If Charcoal Rat B is Fragile, Arthur melee attacks Charcoal Rat B from the Back Row with his Gladiator Trident, if successful he throws the Trident at Charcoal Rat A from the Back Row; if his initial attack was unsuccessful he tries his Back Row melee attack again. If Charcoal Rat B is not Fragile, he throws his strongest polearm at it from the Back Row for both actions. If the Minoid does not roll another SHIELD: Arthur throws his Gladiator Trident at Charcoal Rat B from the Back Row. If his attack is successful and Charcoal Rat B is Fragile, he will melee attack with Sir Roderick's Sword from the Front Row; if not, he will try throwing his Gladiator Trident again. Battle Order: Grimwald Grimwald Minoid Erdathcath Erdathcath Arthur Arthur
  24. I was going to save this for the end of your Quest, but: Honestly, I hate it. It feels like it's taking away any kind of roleplaying or strategy and reducing even the most minute things to "try to roll a certain number of 1's and 2's in a row". It's just slowing things down and artificially inflating the length of your Quest; how long have they been trying to get into the building at this point, something like 2-4 weeks? That's way too long, and there's been way too little happening in that timespan. Bottom line: If we wanted to be playing D&D, we would be.
