Yes, that is the proper use for a Bright Polish. (Though now I'm curious, which one? It's usually best to upgrade an artifact that you can take with you through multiple classes, particularly the Expert ones.) Er, I mean, the proper use for a Bright Polish is to generously donate it to me to use on my lovely cloak for triple SP value.

Eh, don't ever bother with BP for shields; eventually you can save up enough gold for any upgrade, and Mystic Knights earn shield upgrades pretty quickly anyway for a MUCH lower price--take the money you would have invested in Bright Polish and invest in Grand Tonics instead. If you're ever at the point where an Enchant literally will not upgrade your shield even at max Ether, you kind of don't need a better shield anyway.

Yeah, I'm definitely interested in seeing this in action via Byblos, not the least of which because Arthur'll have to obey his orders to the letter and the possibilities for that are hilarious. -
I'm more interested in Bright Polish--my Shadeaux Cloak says hello.

Both of those changes look good to me, though I'd still keep the idea of increasing Minstrel song Ether costs on the table, at least until we've had more opportunity for testing. -

OOC: Poison on the Right Hand, since Erdy hit it with Aim, and Jinxed on Mortar Cannon? Does EMP ignore Blinded? Arthur lets out the breath he hadn't even known he'd been holding. Wordlessly, he directs Minoid to throw the Unlucky Horseshoe at the cavern roof, knowing it would improve their odds later on in the fight. Arthur throws his Spider Leg at the Right Hand, then throws his Gladiator Trident at the new stalactite created by Minoid's attack. Erdy fires at the Mortar Cannon and then the new stalactite created by Minoid's attack. Grimwald frails the new stalactite created by Minoid's attack, then repeats if unsuccessful or swings his Splinter Broom at it if he is. Battle Order: >Arthur VS Right Hand (back): >Minoid VS Needle Cavern Roof (back): >Grimwald Frails Stalactite (B?) (back): >Grimwald Frails Stalactite (B?) 4 - 6 Heroes. The number of Heroes a Quest is designed for is listed in the "party requirements" section of the Quest posting in the first post of the Heroica Hall topic.

OOC: I'm not going to argue that method of running Hastened, I'm just going to note that I disagree with it. On mobile early in the morning (1 am-ish), so no formatting other than this; consider the following properly bolded. Arthur throws his Swift Halberd at Monolith and then his strongest throwing weapon at the mortar cannon. Minoid retrieves the unlucky horseshoe. Grimwald Blinds the Left Hand until successful, then the Right Hand if possible. Erdathcath shoots the Right Hand, then heals Arthur if he's still conscious. If Arthur is not conscious, she throws a Smoke Bomb. Battle Order: Minoid Arthur Grimwald Grimwald Arthur Erdathcath Erdathcath -
Oh, of course, I was mostly just asking as in "when has Special Guard actually DONE something".

OOC: In that case, we shouldn't be standing here--there have been multiple times this Quest where I've used Hastened to tank two Free Hits, albeit doing so while my actions were split up. If that's changed and I can only take one Free Hit, then we cannot win this battle--even assuming perfect Critical Hit-on-Fragile rolls, we're going to get picked off by Free Hits and EMP one by one before we can muster enough firepower to take down the heart. "Actually, Erdy, use your second action to heal me, unless I'm already down, in which case keep attacking." -
Question: when was the last time we've actually seen Special Guard come into effect? Thinking about it, I don't think I've seen any mention of it for the past year until now.

OOC: Why did Minoid take the Free Hit? I put both of Arthur's actions first so he could absorb the FH's--Arthur should be down 4HP and Weakened. Also note that this upcoming Round, Arthur deals Jinxed on all attacks. ...also that is not at all what I thought Spike Drop did, but oh well. Did you roll for Confused on it? I also feel, since it's a special effect, that Erdy's Special Guard should be rolled for. How about for my Cloak of Deception Free Hits? -

That's actually somewhat how throwing weapons already work. They deal full damage from the Back Row (and can be imbued with gems like normal weapons), but a turn has to be spent retrieving them before they can be used again. -

What, no painfully obvious, overdone Kirby references? Son, I am disappoint.

"Because I could take drastic measures to save perhaps one individual, but I don't think I could risk it more than once without the battle falling to pieces like this cavern is." "I wish I could use Pessimism against this enemy, but I'm not a Regulator yet and he's mostly immune to Jinxed anyway. We can beat him, but I don't lay good odds on the number of conscious Heroes, what with all of those ranged armor-piercing area attacks." -

Daggers and longswords are way too common, yes. As far as a third class skill (because I agree that Fast Learner as it stands is a bit much), perhaps at the end of battle the Scholar's experience gain is applied to the WP of their equipped weapon? Not too OP, but still a nice reward for a squishy support class and not that abuseable since relatively few classes can use throwing weapons and wands. -

"I apologize, Grimwald, Erdathcath, you will not be conscious for the end of this fight. Minoid...I will do my best to protect you, but I cannot guarantee it, nor give you good odds. Will you survive catastrophic damage again?" Arthur retrieves his throwing weapons, then throws the Gladiator Trident at Monolith from the Back Row. Minoid fires his Quick Bow at Mortar Cannon from the Back Row. Erdathcath fires her handcannon twice at the Needle Cannon Roof from the Back Row. Grimwald Blinds the Left Hand, then attacks the Needle Cannon Roof with his Splinter Broom from the Back Row. Battle Order and actions: >Arthur retrieves throwing weapons >Arthur (Gladiator Trident) VS Monolith (Back Row): >Minoid (Quick Bow) VS Mortar Cannon (Back Row): >Grimwald blinds Left Hand: >Grimwald (Splinter Broom) VS Needle Cavern Roof (Back Row): >Erdathcath (Tritech Handcannon) VS Needle Cavern Roof (Back Row): >Erdathcath (Tritech Handcannon) VS Needle Cavern Roof (Back Row): -

I'm fine with it, though I do worry about Artifact compatibility. Perhaps allow them to wear Artifacts suitable for Mages and Clerics? (On a similar note, there's several Artifacts in the Marketplace [E.G. Ethereal Cloaks] that should be compatible with more Ether-using classes.) Totally agree. -
Erm, actually, Blinded does not prevent Special Damage. Here's how the three damage prevention effects compare when used on enemies: Blinded: Prevents all damage from 4 and 5 rolls and Free Hits. Sealed: Prevents all damage from 6 rolls only. Asleep: Prevents all damage from 4,5, and 6 rolls and Free Hits, but vanishes as soon as the enemy takes damage.

I would definitely appreciate a Meditate roll over an Aim, just because that WILL be an issue. Or even a Meditate option like Prophets get. Interestingly enough, I have a perfect build for this. Shame I plan to stick with Dragoon for a while. -

The racers description actually makes me think of a racecar-themed variation on Kerbal Space Program, just done in LEGO. It sounds fantastic.
