Heroica RPG - Expert Job Class Discussion
Flipz replied to LEGOman273's topic in The Heroica Archive
Could we actually get that sheet music icon as an item image? It seems like it'd be useful as a base for QMs who want to drop Battle Songs. -
I'd say this is probably the worst player conduct I've ever seen in this game, only it's not because I've seen it happen twice before.

PvP! PvP! PvP! PvP!

I imagine there *are* loopholes. As I mentioned, Ulric and/or Baba having a cure for the Red Death makes them scarier, and I imagine the Fenarian could have been given an order by the Red Assassins that let her bypass some of the rules. By the way, random question: what face part did you use for the female Regulator minifig in the Training Room rule page?
-
*August ...right? At the time of the anniversary?
-
Alternate theory: Ulric has a cure for the problem, which just makes him that much more powerful...

I'm in. Who knows, maybe it'd be something I can actually BUILD stuff for.
-
I like it when Arthur gets annoyed with things in others that he himself is guilty of. It's realistic.
-
In other news that absolutely no one is going to be surprised by, Kintobor is an amazing builder and photographer.
-
That is SUCH a cool character design. Amazing what just a couple changes to a 'fig will do.

Diana shrugs. "My dad knows about all the important players in town. Has to, he's an Ace Assassin, just like me, only he works for a much more impressive person than the Dragonlord. Was actually his boss' idea for me to join Heroica in the first place." "No kidding," Diana remarks, seeming completely unsurprised. ------------------------------------------------- Arthur returns to the Hall, a little worried about his two book-loving allies but confident the pair would work things out. Deftly dodging out of the way of another patron on his way out, he barely misses an Assassin with a ponytail, who leers at him in disgust. "Watch where you're going, jerk." Shaking his head in disappointment--such arrogance for a girl so young--he makes his way back to the table with Hoke, Alex, and Thormanil. "So, anything interesting happen while I was gone?"
-
Yeah, a lot of older Hero pics seem to be vanishing, probably because they were hosted on sites that discard images after a certain amount of time.

Arthur enters the Library for the first time in months, a new friend in tow. "Byblos? Where are--oh, there you are! Haven't seen you in a while, how have you been? Oh, before I forget again, I've brought you a new friend, maybe an assistant if you'd like." "Assistant?" "Only if you'd like, too," Arthur hastily amends. "Anyway, I wanted to ask you about Moon Silk," he continues, allowing Bookmark to clamber onto the Library's mahogany bookshelves. "Hmm...I believe there's a book on the Cult of Mercutio--" "Here, Arthur." Bookmark hands the aged tome down to the Skirmisher from a high shelf. "Err--thank you. Both of you," he makes a point of adding, considering how rudely the Dauntlet had cut the Metasimian off. Was this such a good idea? he wonders. "Well, that's certainly...interesting. It explains a few things, anyway." Seeing both Byblos and Bookmark locked in an intense stare-off, Arthur decides to evacuate to the Hall before he meets a terrible fate. "Thanks again!" he calls as he makes an expeditious retreat.

"Ah, see, that's where the other half of the situation comes in." She jerks her head towards the unusually pale Count the Dragonlord was speaking to. "It all comes down to politics. Count Shadeaux was already a very private man, but ever since he had a bad run-in with some Heroes he's been even more cautious and distrustful. The events at the Foundation Day Ball didn't help, either. He wants no-namers so that everything remains discreet--and so that if we decide to turn on him again he's got a better chance of getting away." She casually stretches out her right hand, examining her nails as if bored. "I'm an Assassin--we specialize in discretion. Especially the permanent kind."

Yeah, roleplaying details like that are totally fine to change. Same with costumes/avatars. Though obviously it's better to set an age and stick with it rather than changing it back and forth every Quest.

Lore question: the Moon Elf Kingdom of Mertution originally worshipped Mercutio before King Haeresias consorted with Lucifuge and Sorceress Ambergaze, correct? Does that mean the modern-day Cult of Mercutio is descended from Mercutio-worshippers from that time who chose to flee rather than embrace darkness and demons?

Not if it's done smartly. For example, the Heroes are exploring a haunted mine, and have to fight off a number of undead miners, who drop Pickaxes. Later on, there's a cave-in, and the Heroes have to use their Pickaxes to dig their way out. Obviously there's other solutions (a Mage's spellcasting, for example, which is probably the most versatile Job Trait depending on the gems carried), but I see nothing wrong with it. Heck, it's possible to use drops and/or shop items as foreshadowing--not everything is a clue as to what happens next, but some of them might be. Obviously that's not the best example, but it's the best one I could think up on short notice.

Diana rolls her eyes. "Yes, like I've never heard that one before." She snorts then crosses her arms and leans back in her chair. "The Dragonlord's pretty important, in case you didn't know. He's actually one of the leaders of Heroica--they're called Veterans, with a capital V. If something's bad enough that a Veteran of Heroica's asking for help, then something big is going down. And for something that big, you need the best." The Ace Assassin smirks. "That would be me--Diana N. Justus, Ace Assassin."

"Clothes for a Dragon. Now that would be something worth seeing," before noticing something was amiss amongst his belongings: namely, three tins of bright polish spilled all over his new cloak by Arx's playing. "Oh, no! My cloak is..." The Skirmisher trails off as the fabric soaks up the glossy polish and begins to grow a little brighter. "...not...ruined?" he finishes in confusion. He reaches for a corner of the garment and examines it with his Magnifying glass. "Strange," he says, "The way these threads shimmer and shine...I've never seen...actually, wait, I have." Arthur rummages in his pack for his old robes before remembering he'd sold them to Ellaria. "Some of the robes in the Marketplace offer protection--I'd bet you anything at least some of them are woven with this same fiber." "Moon Silk, perhaps?" a voice offers from inside Arthur's bag. Arthur jumps, startled, before remembering the passenger he'd been carrying around since that dreadful affair in the Regret's lair. "Bookmark! I completely forgot I'd been carrying you! Thormanil, Arx, Alex, Hoke this is Bookmark. We rescued him from the lair of a mad being, and now he's going to live in the Library for a bit. I need to take him there, actually, and I might as well ask Byblos about this 'Moon Silk' while I'm at it. Keep an eye on my stuff while I'm gone, alright?" With that note, Arthur leaves for the Library, cloak and Bookmark in tow.

Then you drop it/offer it in a shop earlier on in the Quest.
-
Yes, provided that Noctus Shadeaux is satisfied with your work. (It's possible, though unlikely, for the Heroes to technically succeed in the Quest, but in a way that leaves Count Shadeaux very unhappy.) Also, it's good to see a bunch of the Quest 66 crew becoming more active again! Maybe Shoker and Professor Flitwick will reappear as well.

"Sounds like this business didn't go down nearly as well as Dastan, then, I take it." Still curious but unwilling to provoke what was obviously a tense situation, Arthur begins opening the second box. ------------------------------------------------ At the doors to the Hall, a dark-garbed figure carrying a crossbow enters. As she walks to the Quest board, she scans the room for her target, making a face when she finally spots the Dragonlord still speaking to Noctus Shadeaux. "Hmpf." Extracting a pen from her satchel, she quickly and professionally signs her name to Quest 104 before taking a seat at the opposite end of the room, and all those who passed by could see her name: Diana N. Justus, Ace Assassin. Current Sign-Ups for Quest #104: Ace Assassin: Dual Dragoons Warlen Melimane, Level 1 Mage (The Chosen Minifigure) Siercon, Level 6 Mage (Siercon and Coral) Actaeon Artus, Level 1 Ranger (Actaeon) Yuji Daeth, Level 1 Cleric (Daeth) The Demon Germ, Level 1 Rogue (samuraiturtle) Drake Flamerobe, Level 11.5 Knight (xxlrocka) Isabella del Toboso, Level 14.5 Rogue (Dharkan) Kiray Nastay, Level 4 Knight (KingoftheZemkp) Four days remaining. QM Note: Meet one of your NPC allies for the Quest! Feel free to have a chat with her if you'd like--or even with Count Shadeaux and the Dragonlord!--during these last few days before we set out.

Just a fair warning, for some strange reason I'm having trouble accessing Eurobricks, on both mobile and desktop. Rebooting the modem seems to have allowed me to actually load pages again, but now a whole bunch of images are refusing to load. Bottom line, if I don't respond to something, that's probably the reason.
-
I'm 90% certain that the samurai helmet won't work, based on my experiments with the CMF space marine armor. Nono, quit mucking around and get those last couple sets done for my Quest.

Pie, you might want to clarify your action there--you wouldn't want to accidentally attack Boomingham instead. Yes, I know it's a lame joke, but SOMEONE had to make it.
