  1. Oh sorry, I did not realized that you were asking for all entries : http://www.techlug.fr/Forum/topic8899.html
  2. [ The link works on my computer. I have added the full link : http://www.techlug.fr/Forum/topic8841.html Hope this helps.
  3. Well, the votes for the contest are done and ... this MOC won with 29 votes before the "Jabba Awards Ceremony" (http://www.techlug.fr/Forum/topic8841.html) of PierroLego16 recolting 25 votes (this was hot).
  4. I am not sure to fully understand your comment : I wrote the story and I have done the creation for the 9-th TechLUG contest http://www.techlug.f.../topic8556.html (in french) where the goal is "a tribute to Jabba". You can see all entries here : http://www.techlug.f...topic8899.html. My point of view is that Jabba is a crime lord and I did not want to give a positive impression of him : this is why I choose the point of view of somebody who hates him and who comes, like the others, at that annual tribute day only for taking some parts of Jabba's treasure..
  5. Thanks. Effectively, as told into the text, the symbol on the floor is inspired from the one of Jabba's clan This MOC has been done for a "Tribute to Jabba" contest but, I think you have understood that I don't appreciate the character.
  6. Yin and Yang spherical disection on a 30 studs diameter lego sphere. The Sphere can be splitted into 5 parts so that all black and all white lego parts are separated. The assembling is easy to do : the two half-spheres are assembled and the whole sphere is locked by the two keys (first the white and then the black one in two parts) inserted into the "poles". More pictures here.
  7. A fountain as Architecture ?? In fact, it is the front of a building : So, why not.
  8. I doubt that it is entirely made of lego : there must be a metallic structure, tyres and metallic parts for the propulsion or not ?
  9. A small update with lowered water pools, modified main access walkway et dark green rougth grass.
  10. Thank you. Well, this project is now on Cuusoo http://lego.cuusoo.com/ideas/view/53461 even if I think that it is hopeless to expect that an Architecture model will come out.
  11. For the Techlug Architecture contest devoted to official residences, I choose to build a modern presidential palace : the palace of the Dawn (Palácio da Alvorada) located in Brasilia in Brasil. This for two reasons : first, I found it absolutly great and second, to honour the memory of the famous brasilian architect Oscar Niemeyer who past away nearly one year ago. Oscar Niemeyer is world wide known as being the designer of most of the official buildings of the new capital Brasilia at the end of the 50-th but he was also one of the architect of the ONU headquarter. The first achieved building in Brasilia the 30 june 1958 was this palace of the Dawn located far away from the administrative and politic centre of the city near the Paranoá lake as shown by this aerial view. It became rapidly one icon of the modern brasilian architecture and the symbol of the technical and cultural brasilian progress of the 50-th. To the question about the reason of its name "Dawn", president Kubishek answered : "What is Brasilia else than the new dawn for Brasil ?". The palace of the Dawn is the official residence of the presidential family but he or she works into the Planalto Palace The particular shape of the outside main pilars of the palace has been used into the symbol of the town. These views allow to see its structure with these pilars supporting a flat roof and with it walls of glass. The inside consists into 3 levels. 1. An underground level having a large garage and a movie room. 2. The main level having large rooms (and mirrors as walls) delimited by two large room at both sides. A red ramp gives acces to this main level from the main entrance (note the high contrast between the grey floor at the ground level and the wooden floor of this main level). 3. An upper level consisting mainlyof private appartments splitted by a mezzanine. A bridge, over the road giving acces to the garage, allows to go directly from the palace to a chapel. Front of the building are two water pools separated by the access to the main entrance : the right pool includes a sculture consisting of 2 statues. The backside of the domain includes a large swimming pool and a large park up the border of the lake. This palace is well suited for receiving important people like B. Obama. Sources : http://www.webflakes...cio-da-alvorada http://www.moderndes...r-niemeyer.html The so particular pilars of the building are build using a few parts including ski sticks. My MOC is a reproduction of the palace and the chapel integrating the two pools and the sculpture In order to not have an empty translucide building, I have included the main structure of both upper levels with the two extrem large rooms, two private rooms and the main entrance space with the red ramps and with the mezzanine (the private appartments are suggested by small rooms). This video shows the building steps http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P0QkBmZytA4 and this other video shows it from all sides http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6QwDuEKR7Po A few pictures of the MOC. The roof can be removed to exhibit the inside. The visitors of ExpoLorraine (9 and 10 novembre) in Nancy could see it in "avant première". To end this presentation, a picture of Oscar Niemeyer walking into the palace. Hope you enjoyed the visit.
  12. Thanks. The original picture taken by Jérôme Dérozard has been chosen because the sky was not just blue :
  13. Thanks. In fact, I use 1x1, 1x2, 2x2 and 2x4 bricks to reduce the total number of parts. The building instruction for the H23 baseplate.
  14. This short video shows how it is build : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=moY0FAm31Ws The mounting by the public and the status on sunday moring (photos by France et Alex taken from this album) it has been entirely unmounting after the exhibition on sunday evening with the helps of many exhibitors
  15. Large Mosaic of the Sydney Opera built by the visitors of the ExpoLorraine exhibition in Nancy (France). The picture makes 480 pixels times 224 pixels and the mosaic is built using 420 16x16 baseplates fixed magnetically on a four panels stand. The Mosaic after the first day of the exhibition : The finished mosaic : The animation team of the Fanabriques LUG : HighRes pictures into my Flickr Album.
  16. Thanks. Well, you are right, I will include this black surrounding base.
  17. If your are interested into middle-age cathedrals, you will certainly know the great lady of Strasbourg : its marvelous cathedral. If not, then have a look to wikipedia you will certainly be impressed by its very characteristic unique tower making this cathedral the highest present middle age building (it was the tallest in the world from 1647 to 1874). (source Google map). Last december, the ARTE TV channel diffused a very impressive documentary on the elevation of the cathedral</a> and this gave me the idea to build it in an Architecture like style. Virtually, it looks like this : (LDView image). The scale was rapidly defined with the 3 studs diameter for the rose window and the sand green slope bricks for the roof. Some pictures of the great lady of Strasbourg made using 1323 parts : Main façade and back : North face : South Face: Aerial views : A small video showing the building process step by step : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SGIiPDbYCQ8 Hope you enjoy it
  18. On that special day, I have edited a not shown previously picture of the 9/11 memorial MOC with a backgroud featuring the waterfall into the fontains.
  19. Thanks Rick : you are right, it is more suited here. No , 20000 is the virtual (not used ly lego) reference of this "box". The MOC uses something like 750 parts.
  20. For the summer L13 contest of the Brickpirate forum into the Architecture section, I choose to reproduce a castle built into the XVIII century : the Haroué Castle situed into Lorraine, France. The real castle The Haroué castle or Haroué Palace is situed into the centre of the Haroué village, south of Nancy. It has been built from 1720 to 1729 on a ancient castle preseving its 4 main towers and the moats. The castle presents interesting characteristics relatied to a year : - 365 windows, - 52 chimneys, - 12 towers (some are included into the building), - 4 bridges over the moats. Today, it is still occupied by the descendants of prince Marc de Beauvau-Craon who was the initial owner. Source Wikipedia (french). More information and nice pictures can be obtained on its website. Some pictures taken from the sky : The main structure is easier to get when the trees are without their limbs : Starting the Architecture version As an introduction, I would only cite Adam Reed Tucker who designed many officiel Architecture sets : The challenge may not seem so obvious: straightforward design and basic LEGO elements, what else could you ask for? However, there are two not so obvious challenges even with a seemingly easy build, namely those of scale and proportion. The aim is then to get the good scale which allows to respect the proportions of a building using LEGO parts and to try to include characteristics details in such a way that the building is immediately identifiable to the people who know it. For tis castle, the starting point are the towers at the corners because, at this scale, it is not possible to use other parts that 2x2 round bricks with a cone on top. This fixes the scale of the MOC as illustrated by this drawing where 2 cm corresponds rougly to 2 studs : At this scale, from the 4 mains characteristics points given above, the chimneys have been sacrified (most of such castle have chimneys), only the 6 outside towers are kept in order to preserve the U form of the castle, the nulber of windows has been reduced but the 4 bridges are present. Finally, as a main decorative element, the huge trees of the forward court allowing to date the representation at the end of spring after rain. MLCAD virtual model. Virtual modelling is well adapted for Architecture MOCs because it alloxs to have a good idea of the final rendering, to have an accurate parts list and to show the buildings steps into a small movie. The real model. It follows accurately the virtual one : I have only modified the portal and added tiles for the description stickers (the writing have been added using photoshop). The pictures below describe the MOC better than my words. More pictures are available by clicking on the small ones : To end, the Architecture like box of this MOC. I hope you will enjoy this french caslte's MOC.
  21. Thank you for the recent posts. I thought that Architecture like MOC did not have to go to another section : the town section is more for minifig scale MOC, isn't it ? I would also have the possibility to visit it but I live to far from it.
  22. Another variation of this model : the Maya bee one by Kazumi and Omar Ovalle
  23. A few hours using Bricksaic, MLCAD and LPub for the picture, two days for building the magnetic stand, a day for preparing the baseplates and the bricks, and, finaly, 8 hours during the exhibition for building it.
  24. For the Fana'briques 2013 exhibition, we have propose to the young (and not so young) public to build a giant mosaic representing the ruin of the Andlau castle with the Spesbourg castle in the background which are located into the Vosges Mountains in France. The mosaic correspond to 512 times 256 studs square built using 512 16x16 studs square baseplates and something like 50000 bricks. The baseplates are fixed on the magnetic stand using magnets glued onto the back of the baseplate. This was particularly appreciated by the young builders who had the possibility to add themself the baseplate they have build. The stand in made with 4 panels (2.06 meters high and 1.03 meters wide) making an angle of 22.5 degrees between two successive panels giving more relief to the mosaic. Finally, the mosaic includes two kind of resolutions : a low resolution using 2x2 bricks for the forest and a high resolution using 1x1 bricks for the two castles. Some more pictures and high resolution ones into this album. Enjoy.
