  1. That's a review ! An ultimate Review Thanks, Jim. Concerning the price, there are something like 1000 various pins (which cost nearly nothing to TLG) in this set : I found that the 1700 remaining parts are clearly too expensive .
  2. Nice to see that you have build the pair . For the top of the head of R2, you could also use the same build as for BB-8 with a Plate, Modified 2 x 2 with Groove and 1 Stud in Center (ref 87580) instead of the 1x1 plate .
  3. Thank you all. The manta is on BrickBrains : http://brickbrains.com/2016/05/manta-ray-lego-dan_sto/ Mantastic

  5. Hello, I am french and I can help you. Send me a personnal message if you are interested to get my help
  6. If you look carefully at the video, you will see that the third black track for the traction is not present at the slope and the looping. So the motor does not help (it would in fact break) and only the gravity pulls the lok. My calculation fixes the mechanical limit. I would like to know how he came to 70 km/h because it looks overestimated.
  7. The fastest speed is reached at the end of the slope and just before entering the looping. This is why I used the simple conservative mechanical model were potential energy m.g.h is converted into kinetic energy (1/2).m.v2 giving v = SQRT(2.g.h) : you see that the weight and the slope of the track does not play a role. So for h = 2 meters, you have a speed around SQRT(40) nearly equal to 6 m/s = 23 km/h which remains far from the 70 km/h .
  8. Of course, if you take the friction and the wind resistance into account, you will need a higher fall to reach 70 km/h
  9. Interesting and funny. As asked on Youtube, how do you come to 70 km/h ? A falling object (without friction) only accelerated by the gravitation has to fall 19 m to reach such a speed following the mechanical energy conservation : m.v2/2 = m.g.h giving h = v2/(2g). Your height seems to be around 2 m so that the final speed is something like 6 m/s = 23 km/h. OK, we have to add the initial speed but it seems to be relatively small ;).
  10. Thanks. Beautiful monstrosity , thanks Thanks. Unfortunately, it has nothing to do with fantasy : north corean communist architecture Thanks. "Brutalist" seems to be well suited for this build . Thanks. Yes, it looks more like a huge sculpture or a rocket (hopefully not a nuclear weapon) with an oversimplified shape. Clearly, the aim was to have the highest hotel in the world and its build corresponds to a few percent of the inner product of North Corea : this is why its construction was a failure. Do you know that they also have the largest stadium in the world : https://en.wikipedia..._of_May_Stadium ? Thanks. I think also that dark blue was a good choice . Thanks.
  11. Well, a building instruction pdf file and a parts list file are available.
  12. Thanks. It should be something like a perch
  13. In France, the tradition on the first April is to try to put a picture of a fish at the back of persons. This is my April fish Poisson d'Avril by Daniel Stoeffler, on Flickr Poisson d'Avril by Daniel Stoeffler, on Flickr It will not be easy to attach on somebody's back . Enjoy.
  14. The Ryugyong Hotel is a 105 levels pyramidal building located in Pyongyang (North Korea). Ryugyong Hotel Pyongyang North Korea by Raymond Cunningham, sur Flickr The construction has started in 1987 aiming to become the world's tallest hotel after completion planned for june 1989. However, the completion was delayed and the construction stopped in 1992. The exterior was finally finished in 2011 after the construction has been resumed in 2008. The interior is still under work. During the 16 years of halt of the construction, it was called "The Worst Building in the World". I found it interesting to build because of its shape which fits perfectly the LEGO Architecture style anf its dark blue colour on most pictures. 15. Thanks for the pictures and the nice smile . I think I should also make a picture of BB-8 with Rey .
  16. Agreed ! BB-8 and Finn by Daniel Stoeffler, sur Flickr
  17. That's a good new because some bricklink sellers were exploiting the popularity of this droid : Notice the "Build the droid of your dreams!"

  19. The image from Facebook (Sorry for the multipost, I had a freezed page during one minute).
  20. Euh, maybe don't you know, but Eurobricks is a forum
  21. Well, after a few minutes, BB-8 starts to tickle R2-D2 and it seems working BB-8 tickles R2-D2 by Daniel Stoeffler, on Flickr but R2-D2 reacts a little bit to strongly R2-D2 kicks BB-8 head by Daniel Stoeffler, on Flickr This illustrates how it is easy to add arms or a camera to these two droids.
  22. Well, it seems that it was really a good ideas but lego will produce its own soon : "75148 Encounter on Jakku – £49.99 The scene from Force Awakens where Teedo on a Luggabeast snares BB-8 (that’s a ridiculous sentence). comes with Unkar Plutt, Rey, BB-8, Teedo and a brick built luggabeast." (source : http://brickfanatics.co.uk/london-toy-fair-2016-lego-news/ ) Sad new for the project holder but it is the risk when submitting such kind of projects .
  23. Very impressive.
  24. I agree but, in most cases, this is what the people are doing. The main problem is the visibility of competing projects : not all supporters scan over all proposed project of the same idea. The way the Ideas website is organized influences a lot the vote. I agree too and this is why I did not bought it. This is the perfect exemple of fail of the whole process . Yes, this is an awesome MOC but imagine (for the low probable situation where it would be produced) what it will become after being redesigned as a set ? Something completely different. When I see this project, I could also imagine submitting my "Nectar of the Sarlacc" one just for trolling Complete view (4 sided) by Daniel Stoeffler, on Flickr
