  1. A picture of the real model BB-8 and R2-D2 by Daniel Stoeffler, on Flickr BB-8 : "Come on R2, let's have a glass of fresh oil !" R2-D2 : "..." (Silence) (dialogue translated from the bip-bip language of Astromechs ).
  2. My feeling is that Ideas is not just for "ideas" but for displaying a new expression of an idea using LEGO parts : consequently, the model matters a lot and only completely original models (not necesseraly original ideas) should be there. Of course, having an idea can take a few seconds and most of the work is devoted to propose a functional model in good agreement with the standards of the LEGO sets. Example taken from the last Star Wars movie : a minifig scale Luggabeast ( https://ideas.lego.c...h/q:Luggabeast/ ). The 3 projects correspond to the same idea but displays 3 different ways to build it and are welcome on Ideas. Unsuccessful projects can also be the starting point of a new project base on the same idea with a better (and of course original) model : this is why, I think, that keeping all submitted projects on the Ideas website is a good point.
  3. The famous couple of droids of "The Force Awakens" movie. These two droids are particularly essential because each of them owns a part of the map allowing to find Luke Skywalker. BB-8 : "Come R2, let's have a glass of fresh oil !" R2-D2 : "..." Having approximately 750 parts, this model is more suited for the standards of the LEGO Ideas projects -BB-8 alone is too small and C-3PO increases too much the number of parts). So it is my new project : https://ideas.lego.com/projects/128669 and it waits for your support . May the force be with you to support this project and to share it with all your contact. Thanks.
  4. Thank you very much. I told to the Ideas support that this is not Fair Use of my original design of the panels : they answered that both models are welcome . Similarly, I have contacted the builder who does not see where is the problem because the inner design and the head are different . Yes I know : if you look at the price guide on bricklink for this part you get this selling quantities : January 2016 Total Qty: 320 December 2015 Total Qty: 236 November 2015 Total Qty: 425 October 2015 Total Qty 48 September 2015 Total Qty: 29 (my 12) August 2015 Total Qty: 10 July 2015 Total Qty: 8 ( http://www.bricklink...18646&ColorID=4 ). Concerning the present high price of this part (the part as a value around 0.2 EUROS), I agree with you but there always people who try to profit from our passion . The 3 x 3 round corner plates do not work so well because they do not form a circular disk. We definitively have to wait that these parts become available again .
  5. Am I the only one who believe that the Ideas Project #124592 corresponds to an unfair competition with my project #120370 submitted 6 weeks before ? I believe that it is unfair to submit it to Ideas and to allow it to compete. Indeed the panels used for the Lowell sphere of the droid's body are 90% identical : the 40 studs wide panels differ by only 4 studs (in green).
  6. BB-8 thanks the 1200 supporters on Ideas by Daniel Stoeffler, sur Flickr Another brother of BB-8 build by a french AFOL ( https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10153767172608346&set=gm.481893588664226 )
  7. With Rey (build by a french AFOL ).
  8. Super. If so, a little feedback would be appreciated. Cuusoo has been replaced by Ideas and the Star Wars mid-size droids are already proposed as an Ideas Project https://ideas.lego.c...rojects/124638. If you like them, support the project
  9. Thanks for the link. Of course, they are severals ways to approxime the head and the body. But, if somebody uses my design, I always appreciate to be cited; the instructions being free. Taking into account that the 12 6x3 orange half-circles are very rare, I think that my version will remain difficult to build : this is why I have submitted the Ideas project (at least, in theory ).
  10. Well, somebody from the US is selling my model on eBay http://www.ebay.com/...S4AAOSwaA5Wi03L Of course, without my agreement and without giving me credit for the design . I hope he will not sell them : 129 USD is quite expensive . EDIT : well, he changed the description giving me credit for the model. The building instruction has been published into brickjournal : so, I think that such things cannot be avoided.
  11. Thanks . Another article http://www.examiner.com/article/create-a-lego-version-of-loveable-star-wars-droid-bb-8 Not sure to be a "self-described “brick nerd”" .
  12. Thanks. Well, this morning, I found an interesting article on The Daily Dot describing how Lego fans are lobbying to make the adorable BB-8 droid set official . http://www.dailydot....eas-bb8-droids/
  13. In less than 2 weeks, the Ideas Project ( https://ideas.lego.com/projects/124638 ) has reached 500 supports Thanks to all who supported it but it needs more to reach the first milestone of 1000 .
  14. Video showing the building sequence of this BB-8 If you like it, please, support its Ideas project : https://ideas.lego.com/projects/124638
  15. Thanks. C-3PO will maybe have a second version in one or two years (new small parts are needed). I hope you supported my project .
  16. I hope also but Ideas is definitively tough. Two years ago, I submitted R2-D2 as project and it was not a great success A few months ago, I submitted C-3PO & R2-D2 and BB-8 alone as projects and the result was not really more satisfactory Following a suggestion into the comments on BB-8, as a ultime try with these droids, I submitted this "Star Wars mid-size droids" project and, up to now, it is clearly more popular . But the road to 10,000 supports is long . Clearly, the future of this project is in your hands by supporting it and sharing it with your friends . In advance, I thank you for your support.
  17. This droids is now integrated into a new Ides project with R2-D2 and BB-8 : https://ideas.lego.com/projects/124638 After one week on Ideas, this droids project is one of the most popular Great thanks to all of you who supported it. However, it still needs your support to reach the first milestone of 1000 supports .
  18. Many thanks .
  19. Well, after one week on Ideas, this droids project is one of the most popular Great thanks to all of you who supported it. However, it still needs your support to reach the first milestone of 1000 supports .
  20. Received yesterday, one day after the e-mail.
  21. Received an e-mail from lego/service telling me that the "Rework bag, 21303" is on the way and should reach me in 7/10 days .
  22. They are now on Ideas ( ideas.lego.com/projects/124638 ) and are waiting for your support.
  23. In France, some AFOLs try to set the trains speed record ( ) by using high voltage (up to 45 V) applied a few seconds; during exhibitions, trains run sometimes half an hour at 15 V without damage to the motors. So I think that 12 V will not be a problem for your 9V motors.
  24. Your welcome . I would appreciate some feedback if you build it .
