UK: Free Lego with Sun Saturday 3rd December
surrideo replied to surrideo's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
Thought I was going mad with little confirmation on the Sun website till now. Thanks for the link. 2 free polybags at this time of year aint to be sniffed at, though with the more expensive 60p Saturday paper Makes you wonder if not for the NotW demise if these two sets were due to be given away in October? Nevertheless freeish lego next two Saturdays -
Very simple and "clean" apart from the hoses everywhere Beautiful lighting and reminiscent of the scene from the horrible horrible George Clooney Batman film. The new hulk figure in a different colour could be the closest thing to a lego Arnie though Freeze is a very complex character, sorely underused in the comics and famous a bit like the mad hatter because of the sixties show. This however is nothing like that, great entry

The minifig has come very far. As long as it stays however many cm high it is and retains the same shape and dimensions Ill be happy. The more detail the better. When pirates first came out I wonder if there was the same debate about the printed faces, hooked hand, peg leg etc. All of it is evolution of a classic design

Im Scottish, but why do all bad guys(Purple snake commander) get public school English accents?
-
Trying to think where I was listening to it. Could have been Radio 1(UK) and Elijah Wood was on talking about filming his scenes for the hobbit in New Zealand recently( Apparently a flash forward sort of scene, as Frodo isnt in the books) and talking about all the old LOTR merchandise, how huge the series was but what he really wants is to be like Harrison Ford and the like and be immoratalised in lego. Now that in no way was confirmation but if it isnt a done deal, maybe lego are out there listening

Thinking I may have to pick up The Burrow before it disappears. The after market I think will be very pricey for that one.

Beautifully done. Im not a person for customising but the Joker figure supports the work lego have been doing recently and making much more detailed figs in licenced and non-licenced themes. Whilst Lego would never make such a "dark" joker, the Heath Ledger representation of him here is quite amazing. Perspective is great, almost makes me feel dizzy as my eyes track down the street.

Wilkinsons do lego??

Its great seen reviews for the four sets Ive got my kids for Christmas. Hopefully see one for the Helicopter set soon, pick that up in January when they hit the UK stores The TRU exclusive set doesnt appeal as much to me, not to say my kids may want it to complete the wave

Click the link from the first quote Nothing for the Marvel ones if thats what you are referring to.

Total snob I may be, but I won't be making a cape for my kids, thats what I pay lego for To turn the arguement on its head, who intends to buy the Batcave set and feels aggrieved that there is no jetpack included?
-
Not sure about Europe mainland but I think the UK will see these early January

Review: 5885 Triceratops Trapper
surrideo replied to Masked Builder's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
This set resides in my loft for my kids christmas and alongside the excellent Earth Defence HQ two chunky fun trucks for my kids to build and play on Christmas day. I can see the ADU having to help out the Dino guys -
I certainly hope thay include the cape in that set too. Your point has provided decent discussion and wholly valid imo with the title of the topic I'm not one for the aftermarket either as it happens

Comparing the picture in the paper with a google search. 30055. Released in the USA about two months ago, not sure if its ever been available here. -
REVIEW: 9442 Jay's Storm Fighter
surrideo replied to Velika314's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Im reading right, thats what the ZX/DX upgrades for the characters look like this year? Nice enough torso prints but the Dragons ones were so much more ornate. The Jet reminds me of 1980s Transformers with a ninja twist. Good set, now if only someone would review the rattle copter.....and not on Youtube -
REVIEW: 9441 Kai's Blade Cycle
surrideo replied to Velika314's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Nice update of the Ninja costumes, much more interesting bad guys imo than last year and the transformation does look disappointing but a nice chunky bike that kids will enjoy. One of the first sets I'll get the kids when these hit UK stores in January -
Are the cape and cowl separate entities? Would they not normally be attached? When not made of lego
-
Flicking through the Weekend section of the Saturday Times. On page 7 a quarter page banner for a free Lego Star Wars Vulture Droid in next Saturdays Sun(3/12/2011). No mention of further sets in the promotion, so at this point it looks like a one day thing. I know some people will already have this set, I don't and thought I'd share

Excellent MOC but between this and the Killer Croc coming out of the shower plug I cant see me feeling safe in my bathroom for a while

That's my kids Dino haul arrived from the US and it escaped customs. Not sure how yet, must be how my friend has declared it on the packaging. Brilliant value and christmas from my kids side all wrapped up, sorry for the pun.

Reading a few of the posts in the preceding few pages and knowing how comic book merchandise normally works, plus the scheduling for future Marvel Avengers releases and The Dark Knight Rises sets. Ill definitely be preordering/buying on sight or direct from Lego when these come out in January as I can see them being pseudo limited edition and the astronomical prices of Batman sets to remain. Still haunted by being in Schwartz in New York 3 years ago and not buying the Batman lego they had there as Id find it elsewhere. Idiot!

John Lewis are selling Harry Potter Quidditch Practice for £14.24 and the Alien Conquest Mothership for £29.95. These won't last long, as they will be matching a competitors sale so hurry if you want these sets

Merely my opinion, but I would be surprised if Lego and/or DC would allow a product out without the cape as it wouldn't portray the image of their intellectual property as the majority of fans/consumers perceive it.
