From Almaak to Zotax: all the planets in the LEGO galaxies...
Sid Sidious replied to TalonCard's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
Nice idea. I didn't know there were so many planets. In the European storyline for Slizer, there are 8 separate planets. 7 have an element of one of the Slizers (water, fire, city, etc.) and the eighth is the Judge Dome for settling conflicts. For most of the Bionicle storyline, Spherus Magna is split up into Aqua Magna, Bota Magna, and Bara Magna. Aqua Magna is the water moon where Mata Nui's robot body landed. The storyline for 2001-2008 took place there. Bara Magna is the desert planet where the storyline for 2009-2010 happens. Bota Magna is the jungle moon that is pretty much ignored. -
Monster Fighters 2012
Sid Sidious replied to Darth Nihilus's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
I had been kicking an idea around in my head kind of like this, where the heroes go around to villages being terrorized by monsters and capture it. It seems LEGO used their mind reading probes to steal my ideas. -
Welcome to Eurobricks Mihai. My calculus teacher has the last name Mihai, and he is from Romania.

I'm pretty good at totally BSing essays.

You should let the kids play with them. LEGO is really a children's toy, and you don't want your kids to look back at their childhood memories of LEGO as "the toy daddy wouldn't let me play with".

I thought they would make more games. The graveyard looks interesting. I hope the port will be more sea than city.

LEGO Collectable Minifgures Series 7 Discussion
Sid Sidious replied to whung's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Dark brown packaging doesn't sell toys. There is a lot of science that has gone into the packaging of any product. LEGO is aimed at children, and bright colors attract the attention of children. Yellow, blue, green, orange, and light blue are all bright colors and will get a child's attention. The places I have bought CMs from usually have dark backgrounds, so white would stand out. LEGO is going to try to avoid using colors seen as "boring" by kids, and dark brown is one of these colors. I think that LEGO will use red eventually, but they will probably try to use a lot of other colors before red so they don't have packaging that blends into the minifigure and LEGO logo. -
Nocturnus Guild: Homepage, Sign-up and Discussion
Sid Sidious replied to I Scream Clone's topic in Guilds of Historica
I am joining the guild of Nocturnus, but a thieving rogue hath stolen my only picture. It won't be until the weekend until I can track the fiend down and post that picture. -
Lego Store Special Super-VIP event!

If they need photo ID they better have some good deals. -
Hi Busboy, welcome to Eurobricks. I'm also from Alabama, but I'm from Tuscaloosa.

I like this MOC. The house looks like a nice little cottage somewhere in the country that i would want to live in. The garden looks good too. It has enough plants to make it look full and lush, but not too much to make it look overgrown. in my opinion, the red part in the bush near the door doesn't really look like it fits in the MOC.

I think an Avatar (James Cameron, not the last Airbender) license would be cool. We could get a lot of new foliage and plant parts and Na'vi minifigs would be kind of cool. The second and third movies in the trilogy are supposed to come out in 2013 and 2014, so there is a chance that we might get a license then. I've also heard that James Cameron doesn't give licenses that often, but Steven Spielberg put his name on some Studios sets, so you never know.

I found the PoTC Cannibal Escape at Target for $20.99 (MSRP $29.99). This was when it had just came out too. I saw a sign on the shelf saying the set was $20.99, but i couldn't find the set. I came back a few minutes later and found one left. I think someone returned it to the shelf shortly after wandered away.

Which theme/subtheme did you miss and regret?
Sid Sidious replied to BeKindRewind's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I missed a lot of the cool themes from the '90s like Islanders, Insectoids, and Rock Raiders, but I've bought some on eBay and keep a look out for them at yard sales and such. -
If they buy the LEGO, you can buy it at the yard sale cheap in a few years when they get bored of it.

Great job! I was trying to make some Pokemon a while ago, but they didn't work out.
-
I'd say save your money. It seems like you aren't very impressed by these sets, so wait for a year end sale.

Opinion on Mindstorms
Sid Sidious replied to Sid Sidious's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Thanks for the links, those cleared up a lot of my questions. :) -
I have recently been thinking about Mindstorms. I'm considering buying some in the distant future, but want to know what they are like. I have used other robot systems like Fischertechnik and VEX, plus done some stuff with battle bots, so I have some experience with robotics. Is Mindstorms really basic and hard to make cool stuff without modifying the software, or is it difficult to work with and hard to make stuff outside of the instructions, or is it a nice blend that allows for beginners and advanced people to use it? Thanks for your help.

I think Cuusoo users should be able to vote a dislike or a negative vote or something like that. When a certain amount of votes has been reached and a certain percentage of a MOC's votes are dislikes, the MOC would be removed. Having the certain amount of votes requirement would make it so that if the first vote for a MOC was dislike, it wouldn't get auto-deleted. For example, if the vote threshold was 10 votes and 75% dislikes, a MOC with 100 votes would get deleted if 75 of those votes were dislikes. This would also keep the MOC with 1 vote from being deleted after 2 dislikes.

Either of the Ninjago polybags (the sword glider or bone helicopter) would be a good buy. The smallest alien conquest set (7049) is a good buy since it has 2 minifigs and is only $5.

Using non-LEGO items like string is generally OK, as long as it is for something string would be used for (not just tying pieces together). Stability depends on the MOC. Some are very sturdy and are meant to played with, while others are very fragile and fall apart when touched. Usually they are a combination of both and are mostly stable but have some small parts that break off easily. Usually when I make stuff I just put pieces together at random until I get an idea and then make a MOC out of it.

Review: 7414 Elephant Caravan
Sid Sidious replied to ZeeK's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
The very tip of the elephant's trunk is the same piece as the arm in the lamp post of Winter Village Post office. I was wondering where that piece came from, and now my question is answered. Good review, I like the detailed analysis of the elephant. -
My only castle sets were two small impulse sets until I got the MMV. It is definitely the better of the two. It is an awesome parts pack, the minifigs are very detailed and useful (I really like the old man), and it comes with the two cows. At $100 for over 1600 pieces it is a very good deal for your money. Get the MMV.
