That looks great and very accurate. Those claws are pretty nice, I didn't knew Megablocks did a X-Men licence? =O

Thanks for the nice comments! And yes, as stated in the first post, I editted his mouth so he doesn't look so happy anymore.

Well, this isn't a real customisation but I just editted the figure with the computer. But I want to share it with you, so here it is: First I made Anakin's Hair, my favorite LEGO hairpiece, into black. Not with paint, I don't want too lose the piece, but with the computer. But Harry looked too happy, so I editted his mouth and now he's pretty serious. Then I took a photograph of a Harry Potter poster and used it as background with some editting. And then I added a bit of shadows around him and on him so he fits better with the background. I hope you like it! http://www.flickr.com/photos/30479264@N06/3392653779/

LEGO or not, that's one awesome t-shirt!

I would like to invite all of you (especially those from Belgium or the Netherlands) to come on the 25th and 26th of April to the LEGO Event in Tielt. Tielt is located in West Flandres, not so far from Bruges or Ghent. It's a bit in the middle of West Flandres. It's a two day event in a school in Tielt, organised by the school together with a lot of BeLUG members, but it isn't organised by BeLUG itself. Saturday the 25th the doors open at 10h and close at 18h, Sunday from 10h to 17h. Of course, there will be a lot of LEGO creations to see, but also collections of sets and models built by the children of the school. At first there weren't going to be any shops, but the organisation is trying to get a hold on a few of them because there is a big ask for it.

Here I am again, with some new and improved pictures. And I've added two thestrals! http://www.flickr.com/photos/30479264@N06/.../in/photostream Comments?

That is magnificent! I really like the story and how you worked it out in a MOC. The details are also very nice and the whirlpool effect is good. I also like you creatures. Is it for the "Whale of a Tale" contest?

Everybody knows the famous Brickshelf, where everybody can upload his or her LEGO creations. I check it very often on a day, and I just noticed all the images are gone. I click on a few folders, nothing. I click on my account, it's empty. Oh no? Look: http://www.brickshelf.com/ Maybe they made a big mistake in updating the website, or they are quitting? EDIT: I just noticed the files are still there, but just not on the website for everybody to see it. For instance: http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/misterzu...hip/orca000.jpg Is this false alarm, will it be okay tomorrow; let's hope it.

This third chapter is, again, very well written. The idea is refreshing, and how you have worked it out is great. Keep up the good work!

Can I also be signed up please? I would like to know better how to make good reviews, my latest one was a bit messy so this would really help. Thanks!

I'll also make an attempt on making those characters, from the movie. And then when I have the comic I'll try to make those. But don't expect too mutch, I'm totally new in the "real customizing" of LEGO minifigures. I just really want the Watchmen figures in my collection, and this seems the best way to make them myself. But I think it will take a while to make everything look fairly good. I hope they will look LEGO-ish.

I'm totally excited! My father came in a couple of hours ago, he was late from work (I thought). After a time he got to his backpack and got a big grey baseplate out of it. I immediatly recognised it as the baseplate from the LEGO 7419 Dragon Fortress! He then showed me seperate bags with all the pieces, they are in great, like new, condition. He went this afternoon, he stopped working earlier, and went to the almost opposite part from Belgium to get me this set. He only paid 35 euro for this amazing set. I think it's one of LEGO's best sets, I'm so glad I have it. I've been wanting it so, so long. But. But, I have to wait to make it. Tss. I first have to make almost all my older LEGO sets so I can store them out. ;D

Looks like the heads are slightly smaller than regular LEGO minifigure heads. Well... I hadn't seen that before. :/ It cuts a bit down of the ways to use them for me. But I think they will cause funny creations in the near future!
-
Amazing! I really like this MOC, it's very cool. You did a great job on the broken/sinken ship effect, it's worked out extremely good. Everything fits so well in place, I just have nothing bad to say about this creation.
-
Yeah, thanks. I don't really know which I like more. The official head looks older, and very movie-like with the make-up and so. But his face has a longer mouth that goes down, more like a toad looking, but it doesn't look like she's old anymore. Oh well.
-
Thanks for the comments! =) Yeah, I'm sorry. I don't really have decent photo set-up here, because I don't have to many place (everything is filled up with LEGO). The orange tone came from a yellow lamp =/. But soon, I hope this weekend, I will have good set-up to make pictures. One that will have its own place and the pictures from it will look better. =)

If you could revive any one dead theme...
Matn replied to Darth Legolas's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Dark is such a big word. ;P For me: a dark movie, is a movie with uncensored blood, raw action, seeing people breaking their bones, etc. Even Batman wasn't too dark for LEGO. ;/ Harry Potter isn't dark it all. Maybe the last part will be dark. But untill now they weren't too dark. The sixth movie won't be dark with all the loving between the characters. The end will. -
Dolores Umbridge, a new Hogwarts teacher in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, had a too friendly appereance in the movie. Don't get me wrong, I think Imelda Staunton did a great job on acting her. But in the book she is described as having a toad looking face, so immediatly when I got the LEGO Dolores Umbridge I "customized" her like written in the book. Oh yes, a lot of customizing went into this. Comments would be appreciated!

If you could revive any one dead theme...
Matn replied to Darth Legolas's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Harry Potter. For sure! It was an awesome theme with perfect minifigures and accesoires and parts and, and, ... so far for my Harry Potter obsession. And I would love to see Adventurers back. It's probably LEGO's best theme, it just combined so much great subjects in one big theme and every set was so nice. But with Indiana Jones now, I don't see it getting back. Don't get me wrong, Indiana Jones is a very nice theme, but Adventurers had sets that weren't based on a movie, they were new and very impressive. -
Good story, I really how this is going on. You did a great job on the pictures and the text. This must have taken a while. The diversity in the different characters is worked out well, I'm looking forward to the conflicts they will have in the future episodes, and what will happen next.

This is the last, but certainly not the least, LEGO Harry Potter set. Yes, another Hogwarts set, this is the third one already. But this set takes place in the environment of the fifth Harry Potter movie/book: Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. It's my favorite book. With the thestrals and so. But enough about that, the set you say? The set has about 943 pieces, including 9 minifigures. It was released in 2007. I bought the set for 89.99 euro, which is a fair price to me, I couldn't get it anywere else at a lower price. The box is rather big, just like with every LEGO box, but it's filled about 7/8 so that's good. I think it's very stylish, I like the green logo with the head of the phoenix cut out in it. The logo also appears in the nice designed manual. The back of the box shows the castle unfolded and the various play elements. There are two manuals and the process goes a little bit slowly with only a few steps on each page. You also get a sticker sheet, but only half of the stickers are used, more on that later. The minifigures in this set are awesome. The set includes 9 figures, but also two mandrake heads, two thestrals and the half of a knight. First we have the gang of three: Harry Potter, Ron Weasly and Hermoine Granger. Hagrid joins the party, with flesh hands that can move. He even has fingers, nice details. He also carries a crossbow. Dumbledore has a nice outfit, also featured in a set of the 4th movie. Also included is a new Severus Snape figure! He has a new torso and one of the most nicest LEGO heads in my collection. I just love his expression. Next we have a figure of Dolores Umbridge. She has a nice, pink, outfit with a cool print. The hairpiece is only included in this set and the Green Grocer set. Her face is very movie accurate, I love how they did the pink make-up elements. However, it isn't like described in the book, she looked to nice in the movie, not as described in the book. In the book her face is described as a toad, so I'll make a new one soon. Also included is Draco Malfoy, he also has a nice expression on his face. Probably the best figure in this set is this one: a Death Eather. They are the villains in Harry Potter, the followers of Voldemort. The headpiece is awesome, it's so well designed and detailed, and very movie accurate. It's also a bit scary. I would love to get my hands on a few more of these figures! This part is a bit random for me: a box with Quidditch accesoires. The chest includes two black bowls and a red one. Next subject in this set is the greenhouse. A bit a weird choice, but I can't complain. For me this is a very nice building, with great parts and a great look. The LEGO designers did their best on this little greenhouse and its architecture, it's my favorite building in this set. It is almost completely seald, something we don't expect from LEGO. When it's folded open, it reveals very nice parts. The first section has a little bench table covered with plants and a pot with a mandrake in it. Randomly placed there are a few mushrooms. The second part also has a mandrake, with a magnifieng glass and a blackboard. I don't mind the sticker, it looks very nice with a rather funny and simple drawing. The mandrakes are an exclusive, it's the only set in which these heads are included and they look awesome! Next we have a little shooting range thingie. It's a bit weird, I think, but it adds to the sets' playability. When you turn Harry the piece falls down. The target is a sticker, but a nice sticker. A shame it isn't printed. The shooting range is an addition to this castle segment. It represents the Room of Requirement. The segment has a wall that can open up. Like all the buildings in this set, the segment folds open to reveal its interior. Nothing much to say about this because the two halfs are almost identical to each other. It looks a bit empty to me. One half has a nice piece with four wands attached to it, clever built I have to say. The walls are decorated with nice Hogwarts curtains. Unfortenately, they fall out a bit dark, luckely there are two of them spare. Also included in this segment are two owls and a dark gray rat. Let's move on to the biggest and central part of the set: the Hogwarts castle. I must say, it looks great, doesn't it? You can also fold it up. It looks like a nice castle, indeed with a few gaps, but it does what has to do. I really like the outside of the ground floor. The lion heads look good, and the details are also well done. Right above the door there is a Hogwarts shield, it's a shame this is a sticker. It says: "DRACO DORMIEN NUNQUAM TITILLANDUS", which means 'never tickle a sleeping dragon'. This is the upper part with towers and so. The interior: On the ground floor we found three chambers. On the right we have a fireplace with Sirius' face on a sticker putted on a tile. When you push away the wall with flames on it, you can see it better. The left part has a few nice parts, like an electric looking piece and a trans blue cup. It also has a mailbox and a skeleton head under a globe. The center part looks a bit empty though. Above the wall there are two crossed axes, on the left there is a knight statue which you can pull out to reveal a rune stone. This stone is, again, an exclusive part to this set. I think this tile is great, I'm glad I now own it. The upper part is also full of accesoires and details. On the right we have a green bed with under it a red book. Not so special if you ask me. On the left we have Umbridge her office. Her desk has a parfume bottle, flowers, a trans pink cup and a inkt bottle. Behind the chair there is standing lamp, nice detail. The wall behind the office has two stickers on it, with kittens. How lovely. When you put down the scroll you can open it up to reveal Harry's locked up Fire Bolt, his broom. This set includes two black brooms. The upper center part is the trophy room. Included are some nice golden bottles, a trans blue gemstone, a golden plate, a trans green cup and two ribbons. And at the top of the castle there is an astronomy room. A nice tablet, a sticker, with stars on it and a telescope are standing there. The telescope is very well designed. An overview of everything: These are the spare parts. Gallery when moderated: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=373699 I must say this is a great set. 5378 Hogwarts Castle is well designed with cool accesoires and pieces. I don't like the fact that there are much open spaces in the castle, but that's with every LEGO building. But the castle has a nice overall look, so it isn't a big issue. The greenhouse, on the other hand, is perfect. There aren't big gaps in it, just beneath the trans clear windows (to let the air in, very accurate) and the architecture is pretty good. The highlights in this set are the figures: new and exclusive designs are always welcomed. I also like the two thestrals and the mandrakes. This was a good set for ending the LEGO Harry Potter theme. I think it's such a shame to stop the theme so sudden, and the fifth movie could use more sets because it had nice scenes (like the ministery and Sirius' house, ...). A good set, higly recommended for the LEGO Harry Potter fan and the Castle fan. I hope you enjoyed my review of the 5378 Hogwarts Castle. Please let me know if I have forgotten something.

I saw Watchmen this afternoon and I must say I'm quite impressed! It was a great movie, I really liked it. Everything was worked out very good and the graphics were amazing. The music was also nice, a bit unexpected, but after a bit of thinking, it did fit in well (All Along The Watchtower, wow), awesome movie. I'll definitelly order the comic book when the time is there.

Whaat?! That's really awesome, but aren't that too much of the same sets? Do you never consider just collecting the whole Star Wars theme, like the old sets etc. ?

5378: Hogwarts Castle, I'll build it now. And a review will be up tomorrow!

Yes, thanks for fixing the problem, Hinckley.
