The official photo thread of the 2009 event!
Matn replied to Ras 74's topic in LEGO Events and User Groups
That seems like it was really fun. I would love to meet some of the members here, but I guess that's for when I'm a bit older. -
I like it a bit, actually. A shame they didn't add a second horse, it looks a bit empty now. For 15 euro I wouldn't let this set stand on the shelves, but I guess it will be 19.99 euro... The king is excellent, he looks like he's dressed in his pyjamas. (that'll be a great vignette)

As said, it was a layout put together by the members of BeLUG. So yes, it was a collaboration. For instance, my shipwreck island lies near the front of the pirate ghost boat. It was really nice to see the result, all our creations together made a great layout.

Well, that is the pirate layout that could be seen on the Brick Mania event in Wetteren last weekend. It was also there that the Grand Carousel could be seen. It's a layout made by the members of BeLUG, including me. Maybe you can recognize my Shipwreck Island. My pictures are from Saturday, the above one is from Sunday. Some more pictures: More at our Brickshelfpages: Me: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=384437 Patje: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=384795 Petertjelego: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=384834 I was about to post our layout myself, actually. ;)

Oh, I haven't made anything in that picture. The torso is from Prof. Lupin from the Harry Potter series, and the head was sent to me from The Big Toy Hut. But I think, when I have a very decent printer, I will make my own decals in the near future.

In April I participated with my "Love is... ...accepting he's a zombie" MOC in the Big Toy Hut's Zombie Contest. The Big Toy Hut makes one of the most awesome custom LEGO minifigures. The prizes were some fantastic Zombie minifigures and a Dr. Manhatten minifigure. Unfortenately I didn't win, but hey, look what the friendly guys over at the Big Toy Hut came up with. They send everyone who send in an entry for the contest a zombiehead, which they created. I looks just fantastic. This can also be seen as my first "non-purism" act. D: Great decal, isn't it?

REVIEW: 8968 Agents River Heist
Matn replied to TheBrickDaddy's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Thanks for the review. Your pictures are pretty good, but they are too small. You can make something out of it, but it's difficult. Try to make your pictures bigger, they may be up to 800x600 pixels big! And for hosting your pictures there are different ways, for instance, there is Brickshelf. Or Tinypic. They just copy the link of the image between [*IMG] and [/img*], of course without the *. As said, your pictures look great, with good light and soft shadows. -
Great review! That's an awesome set, for a fair price. However, the only thing I don't like is that AT-ST. The set that was released in 2007 was perfect, I think, and it would be so much nicer if than one was included instead of this smaller and uglier one. The minifigures are, for me, also a reason to try to get my hands on this set.

REVIEW Castle 7097 - Trolls' Mountain Fortress
Matn replied to Svelte's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Fantastic review, svelte_corps! I really like this set. Especially for its great new minifigures, which I would love to get my hands on. However, it seems a bit too pricey for me. When this set would be 50 or 60 euro, I will definitely get this set. -
I'm in search of big quantities of the following pieces: tan bricks 1x2 and tan round bricks 1x1 with open stud. Also welcomed would be big tan arches (or the half ones). I could also use dark bley slopes, the high ones. I don't want to trade, because I don't like to get rid of my pieces , so I only will buy these pieces. And I'd like to only trade with Europian sellers who accept IBAN for transferring the money. Thanks!

For the ones that would love to see the minifigures in close-up: http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/MaTn/Eve...ia/img_2749.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/MaTn/Eve...ia/img_2750.jpg I'm looking forward to your review!

A video showing it's features I've made today at the BeLUG Brick Mania event in Wetteren can be found here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/30479264@N06/3557570614/ Not impressed over here. I thought it would be so much better. The build itself is pretty nice, but that's were it stops. The motor makes to much noise, it's wobbly and I just thought it would be bigger.

Thanks guys. I've taken off the top piece of the mast, and it looks indeed much better now!

Vig. 77b A shipwreck lies on a little island in the middle of nowhere. The ship's owners are trying to survive on bananas and fish. The captain is guarding the captured governor, Jimmy the pirateboy is extremely happy because he has caught his first fish and another pirate is getting angry: his monkey has taken his hat! For the BeLUG Pirates layout. I've seen a ship with a diagonal wall in it, like I just have done, before. But I couldn't remember who made it, euh, so. Here it is:

Thanks JimButcher! Yes, but I still don't know if I will add interior the the whole castle. Maybe, when I'm done, like that's far away , I will look it over and add interior to some recognisable places. The game is also to utopic for me. But for now, I will let the interior out, except for this one weekend. And as said, if I think clear, this can't be a one on one copy of Hogwarts as shown in the books, games and movies. There are just too many buildings and courtyards for my budget, and whoever knows what will happen with this when I lose interest in LEGO or Harry Potter...

Thanks for the replies. Yes, I perfectly know what you mean, Sandy. And I'm aware of the rather big scale. It was even much bigger when I started this project, the boathouse was almost three times as big as the current boathouse! I will try to make the great hall a little bit compacter, without the interior. It has an interior now because I will show this model on the BeLUG event this weekend, and because it's not finished I thought of adding an interior to make it a little bit more interesting. However, having an interior is extremely cool. I am thinking of adding the house points in the Great Hall itself, to make it not too big. I will probably add them on the left and right side of the entrance (just in front of the corresponding tables of the four houses), hopefully in time for the weekend. I'm thinking of a good way to make them. Probably very simple, without round edges. The stairs, you say? Well, I don't want to be thát realistic, let's say that the stairs will be placed in the tower that will come next to the Great Hall? Don't think this creation will be massively huge. One percent, you say? Wow. No, really, that would be ridiculous. It will be a very simplified Hogwarts, but still very recognasible, I hope. For instance, I think I am going to have to leave the greenhouse out (which is also massive, as big as these two parts I already have built...) It will be big, I'm thinking of 12 48x48 plates, which is enourmous for me and my budget, but I would be very happy if I reach the half of it. And if I should be really honest, I somewhat want (a tiny part of me wants) it big because I want to show what I am capable of. But I do think I will make it a little bit smaller in the very near future. I don't try the follow the ingame Hogwarts, that's to big for me. I try to combine it with my own fantasy and thoughts, ... and budget! There is a reason why I haven't bought LEGO myself for a few months already. It's really hard not to buy those new fantastic sets, and instead put a part of my "LEGO-money" in my "Hogwarts-saving pot". And as always said, this is a long term project, so it will take me a couple of years to finish. I hope. Thanks for taking your time to write a comment, you've been helpfull (like with the suggestion of adding more greenery and details ).

Thanks for the reply. ( I have continued my project, I wanted it to be ready for this weekend (BeLUG event), but it just didn't work out. I haven't got enough parts, although I have made a couple of Bricklink orders... Well, on the bright side: the Hogwarts project isn't standing still. (If you have a Flickr account, )please add your notes if you see something to be improved. http://www.flickr.com/photos/30479264@N06/3548438351/

At first I disliked this new theme. But the more and more I see those figures, I like it also more and more. The alien figures are more than awesome! They look so special and great. The three-eyed one could be used for normal monsters and the like. The spacecrafts look also fine, actually.

Very nice comic, and it's actually pretty funny! I'm a big Harry Potter fan and this made a smile on my face. I'm looking forward with what you will come up with next!
-
What a great set. Very nice parts, and I just love the look of it. However, it's too expensive for me. Those tan beards look also very interesting, I was just waiting for these to come. They will come in handy for my Hogwarts project!

I'm glad the staff have removed the pictures. This time I really want to wait untill LEGO shows the pictures. I'm looking forward to the Christmas sets and the Merry Go A Round set. The surprise will be much more surprising when we all wait!

Thanks! And yes they are. Yup, maybe it's the summer feeling that is letting us to build these little carts. Ricecracker's cart was based on mine, and mine on workfromtheheart's great one. This one will hopefully be standing on the next BeLUG layout.

Thanks for this great review! This set is so fantastic! Four, it's almost unbelievable, four minifigures in this little neat set and the accesoires are also really nice. This is certainly a must buy.

Thanks for the great review! I really like this set. I'm a bit sad I don't have it, but however, I do own the Train Engine Shed, which is an even more fantastic set than this one, but they would go well together. I hope I will find this set in the future, because then it would be a great addition to my town when I'm older.

So, yesterday I found a brick with an ice cream on it when I went through my sorting bins. I got it in a bag with random pieces which my grandparents bought me some time ago. So I decided to use it good and make an ice cream bicycle out of it. I remembered that workfromtheheart (a Lowlug member) made one some time ago and he had the instructions online. I couldn't find them anymore, so I worked it out on my own way, together with some unclear memories of the instructions... Here it is: Oh, and Dano commented on Flickr with "Neo Classic Paradisa"... It's doable, isn't it?
