What a disaster... ...However, doesn't anyone find it strange the teacher of Defence Against the Dark Arts wasn't able to defend himself against those dark wizards? It's almost unbelievable, perhaps he planned it all because I heard he didn't even pull his wand. Or he was really surprised by his attackers... So they were more powerful and it's unbelievable someone from the inside would to that, let alone a student! Perhaps we should think about why they use the symbol? Perhaps they are after the three artifacts, the Deathly Hallows themselves?! But why kill students for that? Perhaps they wanted Harry Potter to come to Hogwarts? They lured him into a trap! ...Or they don't know a thing about the Deathly Hallows and they just liked the name... EDIT: because of some serious spelling mistakes. Won't happen again!

I wish I could say that, today I've started working (my first real vacation job) and I'm so tired and beaten-up. I can't wait to read through Day One and let my imagination go free, I could use it now! Edit: not that I'm complaining. With the money I'll finally be able to complete my Hogsmeade Stati...sshhh. I've been working on it since August. August 2009.

Finally! , and it's awesome. It shows the beginning of the end, with some different scenes (mostly from the 2nd part) cluttered between it. It's epic! I really thought the film wasn't going to be good, but now I can say I have found some confidence. The trailer reminds me of the film version of the Prisoner of Azkaban, which was in my opinion the best one of the film versions. It looks really good and very epic, like it has to be. I also like the way the group looks older, and Harry so tired and dirty and with the beginning of a beard at the end, just as described in the book. How clever to begin near the end in a trailer. I'm getting pretty excited for the film. I wasn't very excited for the Half-Blood Prince because I already knew that film was going to be about teenage love etc. But this one will be good, I even look forward on the trio camping and having fights and such.

No problem, Sandy. And participation confirmed. I'm really looking forward to the game with these character details. It's just fun to have such a game in the world of Harry Potter, because almost anything can be thought of to be used as background information. I just hope I won't make any mistakes!

I'm really looking forward to this. I'm still a bit confused about the gameplay, but I'll get the hang of it. The main goal is to get in your character and then role play by posting on the specific days, at night something happens and the next day we react on it and we decide who's the bad guy? I like what you've done with the characters' name and figures, it looks very Harry Potter-ish. Oh, and if you're looking for an image for the discussion/Hog's Head topic, feel free to use this one: http://i43.tinypic.com/2v9rwoi.png

Thanks for letting me in, Sandy! And for organizing this. The weather keeps me outside working, but I'm also trying to find time for reading the other mafia games. I think this one will be completely different though. I can't wait! And looks like you've had fun in the Harry Potter theme park! All those souvenirs sound great.

The new Dementor looks really good, I'm glad they gave them a new design. However, the LEGO Dementors always had faces: I'm not sure which one to like more. I like the older version for the body underneath, and it stands on one stud. It looks like newer one stands on a bar into a dish.(EDIT: looks like it's the same, but the body just stands on a dish for presentation.) The arms don't look that good any more, a shame there aren't dark grey skeletons to replace them. But the newer one has an awesome cloak! And the mouth looks better. But maybe I'll just combine them. I can't wait to get them on my hands.

I'm not reading that, I just saw the video a bit. Anyway, nice to hear the Wii has the same co-op made. That's good. No online co-op, but well, it's the Wii. Check this out: And it's not the only one using my (photoshoped) photograph on Google images (just type LEGO Harry Potter Wii or something). I guess imitation is the highest form of flattery. Or in this case, using without permission or link to me.

Like I said on Flickr, great work! Very nice customizing. I especially like the skull with its spine, on a stick. Nice!
-
I wasn't even expecting that. Does it has the ingenious split-screen co-op?
-
So, that's the Wii version you've filmed? It looks good then, so I'm getting that one for the multiplayer functions. Graphics aren't everything.

Nice, for which console? It's a pity the demo for PC hasn't been released yet. I'm still contemplating whether the PC or Wii version. I just want it to look good, but I think there isn't much difference between the LEGO games on the Wii and other (HD) consoles. Also, will the Wii version have the same elements the others have (because a lot of multiplatform titles have been downgraded for Wii release; best example is DiRT 2), like the co-op mode. I'm going to read a few Wii reviews of other LEGO games, and I'll see then with the reviews of LEGO Harry Potter. Anyways, I've read you've got to wait the post reviews about the game until the 25th. But I bet you can say if you like it or not?

I also agree with a height restriction of 120 pixels. When I was very active on a Dutch game forum I used to have a nice signature. Now, when you get older, those signatures look stupid and seem very redundant. However, on Eurobricks they are very useful! To check out reviews made by users or their own creations, perhaps their websites or some links, it's very useful. But I don't need to see more than that in a signature. I think my own signature is well made, a few links to my LEGO related stuff and four thumbnails (100 pixels high) of my creations directing you to their topics. I was thinking of adding up to 6 thumbnails, but that wouldn't look so good for smaller resolutions/non-widescreen I guess.

Hmmyeah, I like to think that it's a very painful smile. But I don't think it's too bad, it shows that they haven't based themselves entirely on the films. It's their own interpretation which is very nice, because you can only imagine how he looks from the describing in the books. They could have gave him the same wand as Harry, though.

What minifigs are we missing - post your detailed suggestions here

Great topic and ideas! Gender: male Occupation/print on torso: cyclist Type of headgear: cycle helmet Type of facial expression: exhausted, with glasses Color on torso/legs: cycle outfit with yellow stripe to express shorts (like the cheerleader) Accessory: water bottle and an air pomp -
This: Eurobricks Forums > Website, Frontpage and LEGO General > Website & Forums, but it actually isn't a problem. It's perhaps supposed to be, because it actually fits the more simplistic and elegant design. And I also agree with Anio, the boxes look a little bit to long on the forum index. I also like the status on our new profiles!

Great job on the update, guys! When I came home today I checked Eurobricks and I saw the updating was in progress. The layout looked already much smoother and much more modern. So now it's totally updated and I really have to say I liked it immediately! It's cleaner, goes with its time and not so busy any more. The colours are much softer and nicer to look at. The profile pages are also better now. The forum layout doesn't look that compact any more, the pinned topics aren't/weren't (it's being updated I see) very different from the normal ones, and I see some small errors (like the font of the links beneath the menu when you're in a topic), but I'm sure these small things are being adjusted as I speak. Great job on the modernisation and updates!

LEGO Collectable Minifigures General Discussion
Matn replied to Nabii's topic in Special LEGO Themes
My dad got me 10 bags today, what a total surprise! It's definitely a welcome diversion for all the learning I've done this afternoon for the exams. So far I opened up 3 bags, which contained the Cowboy, the Spaceman and the Cheerleader. I like them all! I immediately saw the "quality issues", it's softer and lighter than common pieces. It doesn't bother me at all, the indent on the arms also don't bother me, because it will be purely used as display figures. There's one thing that bothered me at first though, the colours don't look that bright and very soft. But the printing is great, I like the feeling of relief when you rub over the torso. All in all, great figures to be used as collectible items! I just hope I'll be able to not use any of the parts for MOCs. My father will get 10 more tomorrow, and I'll open them later on. I've already saw (with the bar codes) that I have one Cowboy extra. I'll probably keep it in its bag closed, but it still is a very nice figure. Maybe I'll open it as an extra to use in creations. TLG did a great job with these figures, although there are some minor quality issues. For the low price you have some exclusive parts and awesome minifigures. It's nice that they are so widely available, I first thought they could only be bought in official LEGO stores, but no, you can even buy them in the bigger supermarket (although I haven't found them in the toystore yet). I can't wait for the new series! -
Yeah, it was really a coincidence! I visited Eurobricks on the moment Sandy posted this. It's also fun to read the relationships with the franchise, and I've also added a bit more to my answer.

It's a great idea, thanks for organizing this! It's perfect with the new LEGO sets coming and such. 1) What is your experience with mafia games, here and elsewhere? I've never played such a game, since I'm always to late to sign in. But now I'm not. I'd love to get to know the game, though, so I'm going to through the other mafia games to see how it works. 2) What is your relationship with the Harry Potter -franchise? Oh, we're very close now. Well, I consider myself a big fan, since I've read all the books too much and because I mostly build in the LEGO Harry Potter theme. It's, obviously, my favorite theme. But I guess you knew that already. I didn't buy any LEGO of the 3rd and 4th film sets, but I got most of them later on. I am building scenes and buildings from the world of J.K. Rowling in LEGO, the Burrow is even my best creation I think. And I've got more WIPs in progress. I got the first book when I was 8, I think, and I've been enjoying them since then. I also enjoyed the films. When the Order of the Phoenix was released, I won a Harry Potter drawing contest and quiz for which I won the book itself. And 9 years later I'm still very much into Harry Potter. When something about Harry Potter comes up during conversation with my friends, I'm the one with all the answers. Sometimes I think I know too much about it, is it still normal to know all the spells used in the series? Anyway, I just love to check on Harry Potter news (on the films that is, because yes, I'm very interested in Deathly Hallows and how they're going to pull things of with all the stuff they left out in the Half-Blood Prince...), to plough through the Harry Potter Lexicon or just admire the Harry Potter fan art on the internet. There are many reasons why I like it so much: J.K. Rowling let the characters evolve during all these years and as a kid I grew up with Harry. I just had to know how the story progressed. And also the writer herself became much better at writing if you compare the first and last book. The first one handles like a real children's book, but the last one is a bit more complex, much darker and builds further on Voldemort and his war against half-bloods (and it's obvious on who's that based). Another reason is how Rowling is able do describe everything and everyone into details, I love it so much that even I use it, perhaps unconscious, in stories I write. And the third reason is the huge fan base around Harry Potter, which just keeps you involved in the story and let's you discover new things everytime. Call it an obsession or hobby, I'm really into Harry Potter. Phew; edited my answer (yeah I let myself go ). Oh, well, now I also could share how I got into it, why I'm still into it and everything. For the next two weeks I'll also be occupied with the exams, so starting in July couldn't be more perfect. Oh, and that's a great little MOC there!
-
They should really get the demo channel back up on the Wii, now WITH demos of games you can buy in stores. Oh, well, I'm going to check out the pc demo and then later hope the Wii version gets equally good reviews as on the other gaming systems.
-
Nice to see they've redone the minifigures with the new styles provided in the new sets!
-
Like I said on Flickr, great job! The story comes better to it's right using a different layout on this forum. The diorama is wonderful and living with all the details and greenery. Everything looks great and the architecture, like always, is beautifully done in your own style. Keep up the good work!
-
Like I said on Flickr, absolutely fantastic! Even if it's not 100%, it's still awesome. I couldn't imagine how to make this train without using non-LEGO stuff. The details are amazing and it just looks like a model train. When I'll build my own Hogwarts train I'll use this a bit as an example for sure! Great work!

Unfortunately, the pictures don't work when used outside that website. So I also searched them; here's the link: http://bluebuddies.com/ubb/ultimatebb.php/topic/1/2398.html (refresh your page if they don't turn up right away). I have to admit, I like them in a way. Yes, there are many big parts, but it's the Smurfs! I loved them as a child, I have a massive amount of figures of them. These figures resemble them very well, so well that this new toy line actually looks just the same as my figures and their accessories, and their houses, just with some studs on them! Looking at these pictures brings back memories... But I'm not excited for the film. It's a Belgian thing, it has nothing to do with America, then why bother making an American film about them? Oh, yeah and it's MegaBloks.
