Here I agree. I hardly buy LEGO sets which cost more than 50 Euro. Luck in finding them on sale plays the only factor in buying them: it was the case with Medieval Market Village and Town Plan. I love my Café Corner and it doesn't matter how much I want the Green Grocer and the other modular buildings, I'm probably never going to buy them. Buying individual bricks to recreate Harry Potter buildings is where my money goes. I hope this set will be around 120 Euro because I don't think they'll make it to big: it still has to sell. But if it ends up being a massive set, being LEGO Harry Potter, I could make an exception.

We don't have to hope for centaurs anymore, we can just buy them at Brickforge within two weeks! I've always hoped someone would make centaur bodies. I tried to make a brick build one, but it failed. Then I was going to remove a horse's head, until I read that there was a chance Brickforge would began making centaurs. And behold, they are making them! I can't wait for them, I'm thinking of using them with muscled torsos and making a decal of it for a brown torso (to have variation with the centaurs).

Good to see you back! Your creations were always a treat for the eye. I remember seeing the first part of your portfolio and I was truly impressed. Your drawing style is really something special, and of course your LEGO skills also. And now that I've seen the second part, I'm even more impressed. Those figures and their drawn counterparts are great! Also good to hear you're currently participating in the workshops. Good luck!

I think Svelte doesn't have to tell us more about it. We've heard enough now to have high hopes and let's keep it like that. I'd rather speculate about the set than knowing what it's called now. I mean, if we know now what's in it, we still have to wait five months before we can buy it. I'd rather wait a couple of months and see some pictures and then wait a month to buy it. I always love some excitement before buying or, in this case, even knowing what the name is. We just know there's a big LEGO Harry Potter set comming, and I'm sure we're all going to like it. Oh, and I think Svelte would be in trouble if he tells us the name.
-
I forgot to say thanks, Svelte. Thanks! I think we're going to hear more at the end of this year. But I think it won't be a Ministry set, I can't imagine how that can be bigger than the Hogwarts set. And indeed, a fifth Hogwarts set would be a bit ridiculous. If it would be something from Deathly Hallows: it should be something massive and very important, and I can't think of something right away. Perhaps the Malfoy mansion, but it doesn't sound very important to put in a LEGO set. I'm placing my bets on Diagon Alley, Harry's first magical experience and a place which returns almost in every book. Or Hogsmeade village in a winter coat, but Diagon Alley is more known. But whatever set it is, I'm sure it will be a fantastic one and it's purpose probably will be to have the LEGO Harry Potter theme end with a blast.

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 3 discussion
Matn replied to Klaus-Dieter's topic in Special LEGO Themes
If I have to be honest, I'm not very excited for these. A big month ago I was so excited to find series 1, and opening them was so fun. The minifigures were all lovely. Series 2 looks even better, but I haven't found them yet and I'm not sure I'll have the same feeling opening them. But with series 3, it's getting a bit too much too quickly for me. Some of the figures sound very interesting: the fisher, the samurai, the elf and the gorilla. The others ones don't sound that exciting and rather normal (in comparison with series 1 and 2, only one or two figures looked less special). And what's up with all the counterparts? We already have a singer, a doctor, a Native American and a minifig doing winter sports. I am however looking forward to see the pictures and it wouldn't surprise I am going to like them all, though. -
New Products BrickForge from BrickFair 2010 now available
Matn replied to Omicron's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
Thanks for the information and the photos! Some time ago, I was going to make a Brickforge order, until I heard rumours of a centaur body. I had been trying for some time then to design one, I was even going to mod a horse's body. The centaur bodies are the highlight for me, they look just great. Good to hear they are in full production. When they're out I'm going to buy a few of them right away, so I can finally create Harry Potter centaurs. I also like the other piece, the hairpiece and a few great accessories. But the centaurs are just awesome, great job of Armothe and it's so cool he really listens to his fans! -
Woah! Svelte, don't tease us like that. You got me excited though. I don't think it'll be another Hogwarts set. It could be a Ministry set but I don't see how that would be bigger than the Hogwarts set. Probably a little town, with a couple of houses, Hogsmeade (winter village) or a few shops from Diagon Alley. Of course, I hope there will be some sweet exclusive minifigures. I'm looking forward to some more info!

Someone uploaded the catalogue of 2010 in high resolution, including LEGO Harry Potter! I'm pretty sure these scans haven't been posted here. Finally we've got a very good look at the final designs. Good to see Dumbledore has a new face print, Luna's normal head print looks good (from what I can make of it) and the new Filch is great. All the other minifigures look also perfect to me. The sets are still looking wonderful, and the interiors even more! Finally a good look at the interior of Hagrid's Hut, the highlight for that set, it's looking nice and cozy. The Hogwarts interior is cramped with stuff, awesome. A bit confusing though, with the trio (looking more adult with their old print) on the page. Oh, and what's McGonagall doing there with Hermoine... I'm excited for these! I'm already thinking of reviewing them all and comparing the redesigns with their old version. EDIT: uploaded smaller images that link to the high resolution scans.

The only thing is, in the books there wasn't even a scene like that. The Burrow didn't burn down. Oh, well. Film makers these days! But I'm not complaining anymore. Thanks to that ridiculous scene we got the best set that's part of the new LEGO Harry Potter theme! Yay!

I finally bought this beautiful set on Wednesday. And today we build it, my father and me. We did slow so it took a while, roughly 3 hours . But we're very happy with the result and the set is definitely worth its price!
-
Yes, the Batmobile was an UCS. I think. Pretty sure though (I bought it for like 20 EURO, great parts pack). But a Hogwarts UCS model? That would be awesome, something like the new Architecture line.
-
I agree. This set is really beautiful and it resembles the real thing very well. But the parts. Tan cheese, so useful for a big tan castle! I probably won't pick it up (as I usually don't buy the largest LEGO sets) but if I would, the set wouldn't stay long together.
-
Hoping to finally finish a building I've started a year ago and starting to work on some new smaller ones.
-
Welcome to Eurobricks, fellow Harry Potter fan! Well, I think most of the LEGO fans see the theme as an expansion to their City or Castle collection. The sets were really useful part packs, expanding their cities with tons of new minifigures and upgrading their castles with new pieces and colours. But over the couple of years, the amount of LEGO Harry Potter fans has risen here on Eurobricks.
-
Well, that was just awesome! I enjoyed it very much, I now know what to do and not to do in next mafia games. (They can be pretty confusing at times) The Harry Potter feeling made everything even better! Thanks for letting me play.

I never said I've been protecting people. I said I protected myself last night, but that was indeed a lie. Someone else protected me, but I can't say who it is. I lied because I want to protect the protector from being revealed, the person has and will be very useful for all of us, I don't want the Death's Hallowed to get that protector! So, unlike other lies here, it's not out of self-protection. I also have never heard of a Paranoid Protector, but the one that has protected me did the job good. And to show my further innocence I'll tell you what I can do at night. That's one thing: stupefy people. And it's always been like that. I haven't used it much. So my ability is to block people, and on the fourth night the unfortunate change into a werewolf.
-
So, Jolie Jadis isn't innocent, but impartial. Though you agreed that voting out an impartial is better than an innocent, I think I'll unvote you. It's pretty clear you have been acting on the side of ours. It is for my defence! I lock myself up on the night I turn into a werewolf. If someone breaks in the room, with the intentions to kill me, that person won't come out as a whole again. I can't attack people as a werewolf when I'm left alone and locked up, unless someone tries to approach me and kill me. That's called defence. So, let me be clear: it is a defence mechanism that appears on every fourth night. That has nothing to do with the Death's Hallowed as I can't choose who I attack, I'm not even able to think at that moment as I'm... I'm an animal then. Logical thinking suggests I will only attack Death's Hallowed, as they are the murderers here. And not trusting werewolves is a ridiculous statement! I thought times has changed, but it's clear I should have kept it a secret as people now think I'm suspicious just because I got bitten as a child, as I said, it wasn't my choice and it has never turned me to the dark side. I have never hurt anyone. Is this what our parents have fought for? There are good werewolves out there and I'm one of them.
-
Yes, it's true. I carry the darken burden of being a werewolf. Just like Remus Lupin I was bitten by one as a little child... It was full moon that night and I was still playing outside, all alone. I still hear my father shouting my name... I was walking to our mansion, when all of sudden I heard a wolf growling. I turned around, and then everything went fast... I... I can't explain more how I got bitten... I didn't ever tell anyone this... because I was afraid of losing friends, of being looked at and pointed at. People would hate me, just because I got bitten by one. And now, my fear has become true: people are judging me solely because I am a werewolf. It wasn't my choice! I can't do anything about it... Being a werewolf doesn't make me disloyal, I still can defend the innocent and fight for the good side! I know enough about being a werewolf to explain everything about the transformation. It's not when I get angry, those are just tales. Every fourth night, with full moon, I transform in a werewolf. The pain... The pain is just indescribable... I have to lock myself up in an old classroom, just out of fear I would hurt someone. There's only one good thing about being a werewolf: on that night, I can defend myself against any evil that approaches me. And, sorry, Desiree Jackson. I was going to explain it all to you, but I still wasn't sure if I could tell you something this heavy. You never know who could be standing behind the door and listening, and then later misusing the information. I hope you understand it.
-
I hope the people who have voted for me have thought very good about it, and that they didn't get lost in all the rambling of Jolie Jadis. You are going to vote out an innocent if you do so. And let me remind you, although Jolie has revealed her informant and says she trust her completely, we still haven't heard the reasoning of Elloquence Malleus herself! We all know she's occupied by other matters at the moment and it wouldn't surprise me Jolie is just making use of that. Let us wait for this so-called real evidence against me, straight out of the mouth of miss Malleus, if she even knows anything about it.
-
I'm not going to start again defending myself and throwing away all the 'real reasons' of Jolie Jadis for me being a Death's Hallowed, I have an alibi or it's far-fetched (something Jolie Jadis likes to use). And I'm sure we'll never see the 'real' evidence your so called informer as I know there is none against me. Jingle has put everything I wanted to say in good words, and he even has convinced me to vote. Jingle is the only one making sense here, in my eyes. I've been suspecting Jolie Jadis for a long time now, I even started to believe she's innocent. But things have changed now, and I'm fairly sure now she's not innocent. Although I also trust miss Ching, I think someone she's got mislead to thinking Jolie is innocent. Here I go, my first vote against someone I'm convinced she's not innocent: Vote: Jolie Jadis/Lord Arjay

When and what will the next themed month be?
Matn replied to Joey Lock's topic in Forum Information and Help
I agree, November would be good. Or October, as the new sets will come out then. It sounds a good idea anyway, I was already hoping for a LEGO Harry Potter month when we had our previous themed month! It would be so much fun, perhaps including contests about: characters, epic scenes, classrooms, dormitory rooms, 'behind the scenes': creations about stuff that's not described but could have happened (like playing outside on Hogwarts' ground),... the list of possibilities is pretty big! Yes, I'm already excited. -
Of course, we'll just stupidly believe you're acting on behalf of someone else. Yes, I blocked you, but you said you were attacked by more people that night because you had talked to much and were acting suspicious (how many times do I have to repeat myself?). If something happened to miss Ching, I can't be the cause of that and Desiree Jackson can confirm that. Let's not forget you used Felix Felicis yesterday, because you didn't wanted to be voted out. You had something to hide, but what?
-
Sandy, I must say you're doing a great job and especially with the LEGO scenes. Everything looks so good and fits just perfect with the Hogwarts theme. The effects are also nice, like the lake next to the Slytherin common room or the ghost floating above people.
-
What a tragedy! Two deaths in one night... And I hoped madame Kingston would be better so she could help us... Seriously? I explained it all yesterday, but let me repeat it shortly: I defend the ones who I think are innocent. I blocked you because you were acting suspicious, you even said you were blocked and attacked by many people that night. You just keep rambling and accusing people of being Death's Hallowed even after you admitted you're a liar and that you vote people off because you want to protect yourself?! Oh, yes, and let's not forget we weren't able to vote on you yesterday! Miss Bathory, it seems like you're trying very hard to make Jolie Jadis look good. We all have to follow her because you trust her completely. Why? Is she hiding something? She must be hiding something with all the lies she keeps telling us. I think, like said before by others, it's better to focus on foreign teachers now. But I don't know who to point a finger at. And indeed, why did Valerie MacArthur attack our beloved miss Ching, an innocent ghost who is helping us? I hope she has a valuable reason to do so.
