  1. When do the official written previews of next year's new sets usually come out? I reckon we'll get the full lineup list for next year pretty soon this year.
  2. Only set 42238 still hasn’t had official images revealed for this year’s lineup, so the 2026 Technic slate is basically wrapped up. For next year’s 50th Technic anniversary, will packaging feature explicit 50th anniversary branding just like we saw on the 40th anniversary boxes? Also, are we expecting commemorative printed tiles or similar special anniversary included parts?
  3. What do you guys think? Will TLG release a complete F1 set for all 11 F1 teams? Including the upcoming 42240 coming out in the second half of the year, we already have five models in total: 42171, 42206, 42207, 42228 and 42240. That leaves six more sets yet to be released. Even if we exclude Sauber and feature Audi instead, plus the newly added Cadillac, there are still six models left unreleased. It will likely take 2–3 years to finish the entire lineup, meaning we’ll probably get another two F1 sets next year. If so, they will continue to take up two release slots as usual. On top of that, 77252 and 77258 may also be developed into official LEGO Technic versions in the future.
  4. What permissions do I need to post images larger than 100KB in replies?
  5. I believe the days of fully motorized LEGO City passenger and freight trains that come with a complete track pack are basically over. If you look at the release window from 2006 to 2022, the passenger and freight train lineup is perfectly symmetrical, with set 60052 right at the center. Sets 3677 and 60098 are the standalone red train releases, and from this central point, two distinct generations of passenger and freight train layouts branch out before and after it respectively. It’s safe to say the classic motorized train era has come to an end. LEGO City has shifted its focus to other themes instead, such as Arctic and Police. Now we only get simplified three-car train sets that no longer include motors or tracks. The trains are essentially stripped down, and players have to purchase the motor components separately if they want power functions.Sets 60509 and 60511 represent the new generation of City passenger and freight trains.
  6. It has pneumatics, working suspension, official licensing — it’s a proper truck with a fully functional crane arm. Amid this year’s new releases, it feels totally out of place. Just looking at it takes me right back to the good old days. Easily my Set of the Year.
  7. Buying up all these cars and displaying them together would look absolutely spectacular.Of course, the price tag is just as breathtaking — the Technic version of Speed Champions!
  8. Have you seen the pictures of set 60512?
  9. Looks like hardly anyone is talking about this car model. It probably really doesn’t have any standout features.
  10. This design of the front wheel arch panel has been seen many times on previous small car models.
  11. It closely resembles the B-model of 8433, featuring a variety of small alternate build sets. It’s a pity they aren’t combinable.
  12. If that’s the case, the fundamental reason for the delayed release of 42146 was probably not the lead time for new part molds. It was originally scheduled for 2022, but got pushed back to avoid a direct clash with 42143. This implies that current sales of Technic flagship sets are likely underperforming. Nowadays, Technic flagships have become more of a symbolic release than anything else. We used to get one every single year, yet now it’s only once every two years. TLG staggers their launches on purpose to prevent internal competition with the 1:8 supercar released in the same year. The fact that even flagship lineups are being scaled back clearly shows that TLG is gradually abandoning hardcore Technic enthusiasts who prefer more construction and industrial machinery sets. Engineering flagships are undeniably more difficult to design than 1:8 supercars, yet they sell far worse. It’s only logical that TLG no longer wants to put in huge effort for poor returns. That’s why 2018 was such a great year — Technic flagship and 1:8 supercar were released side by side. It also marked the end of the PF era.
