  1. Honestly I couldn't tell that this was a "rushed" build. The sheer size and detail of the wall and tower are magnificent I especially like the little details: the brick stripes, the holes in the wall, the crane, the bricks and crates behind the wall, the buttresses The slight angle in the wall is great too
  2. I'm glad to hear this! I think the civil war in each guild is a neat idea in that it gives chance for people to work with different people as you said. Yet you can still stay loyal to what ever guild you are in if you so choose
  3. I just said it to Infernum, but it's true for you too: I think this is your best build yet, all the details come together well and the presentation shows them off well. The first thing that stood out to me was your presentation, your pictures look perfect! I really like the 1x1 rounds and 1x2 tiles used to add interest to the wall and the crenelations look good too The little lift is my favorite detail Great work on the landscaping with the waterfall, cliffs, and snow too. I'm really pleased with the strong Mitgardian showing for the MAC.
  4. Indeed your best yet I agree with dG about the photos, they look great! I really like the architectural design on the top of the tower and the wooden bits and scaffolding are superb The angled supports to the scaffolding, the turn in the scaffolding , and the working crane are great details. The landscaping is also excellent. It's really amazing how far you've come as a builder, even just from Challenge VI to now! Interesting backstory too, maybe I'll flesh out Glorfindel's ancestors a bit more Looks like there's going to be a pretty close contest for the Mitgardian MAC prize!
  5. I'm definitely staying in Mitgardia, there's now way I'd leave. I feel like Mitgardia has really become a team of builders
  6. Very glad you could enter! The 1x1 round tiles for the ground look great and I love the backstory to the build The statue is quite recognizable too, I'm especially impressed with how well you captured the beard
  7. @ZC: Sounds good, I have the same question as Masa though. Thanks for all the work you guys have put into this so far, looks like it will be lots of fun
  8. Seeing as there are more votes for ending at the regular date than for an extension, and seeing how late it is in the contest, I will leave the deadline at August 1st.
  9. Would anyone else like an extension for the deadline? I'd really like to see some more entries so if extending it would help people finish theirs I think I could do that
  10. Cool idea to do a double sided house showing change I like the vines on both versions and the door looks good. The second version's woodwork could be a little better in my opinion: if you could do a row of horizontal SNOT dark brown tiles above and below the vertical ones that would help
  11. Mitgardia, not Midgard As Dragonfire said it's one of the guilds of historica ( this sub-forum). Cool vignette! I like the snow and the vegetation looks good too I think the flag would look better standing straight up and down though, or even less of an angle. Nice little section of ruins too, the brown/dark tan look good together
  12. Yes you can, just so long as there Castle vehicles
  13. Too bad Hope school lets up a bit for you, it hasn't even started yet here in the States Thanks for the entry
  14. Glad to have you enter! The scaffolding and fig posing are my favorite parts If you have the pieces to make it a little larger, I think 3 wide doors would look better than 2. Also the round shield seems more Mitgardian than Avalonian, perhaps you could replace it with two Kingdoms dragon shields? Or one with decoration around it
  15. You captured the scene very well! I especially like the rocks and beacon
  16. Another great dwarve! The lowell sphere technique works very well to give him his round shape and I the boots (are those dark brown catapults?). The use of plate rounds for his beard gives a nice texture too
  17. Thanks! He really enjoys Castle themes so I think we can expect more of those from him Thank you for the comment and suggestions
  18. The added small plates improve the path and I like the changes you made to the snow Is there any backstory to this scene? If you have some plants you could add those to the landscape, maybe make some covered with snow
  19. Thanks kabel! Great to hear praise from a veteran Mitgardian
  20. Too bad, looking forward to seeing that stronghold though Great to have you! Looking forward to seeing some MOCs from you
  21. @Mitchellego: Thanks for the entry @Rolli: I was wondering if you'd make the deadline, glad to hear you've started
  22. Avalonia will be glad indeed to have you back! Your build looks very impressive Assuming that you build it in sections you could give each section its own topic
  23. Thanks Ecc! I'll keep your advice in mind for the next castle. The reason they were so low for this one was because of the small footprint: I thought making them higher might make the castle look overcrowded. Definitely will keep higher walls in mind for the next one though
  24. Yay! Mitgardia wasn't quite the same in your absence. How is your sorting coming? Do you have any new builds started yet?
  25. As I said on Flickr this is my favorite build from you yet The wall design looks great, the landscaping is excellent, and the siege equipment/action is superb I only have a couple suggestions: first, I think the towers would benefit greatly if they had some arrow slits/windows; the tudor sections looks a little strange to me, I think taking out the window in the middle and just leaving the two hinging covers would look better and the bley arches supporting that section could use some inverted slopes under them. All in all a very impressive build, I think you have a decent chance at winning the contest
