Huh. I guess I am. Does that make me stupid? As an American, I respect the ministry of silly walks and wish we diverted our healthcare resources into that department. Why, you dastardly English kniggit! I shall break wind in your general direction! (I believe my ignorance of, despite my love for, Monty Python is becoming increasingly obvious.) Well, that was unexpected. -

My disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined. At least Plo’s starfighter will be a new ship in the microfighter collection. I’d think LEGO would put these more desirable figures (Rex and Plo) in full-sized, and thus more expensive sets. Seems insulting to make these ships as microfighters I’d like to see great models to put on display. I really badly want a Fondor… that and a more minifig-scaled U-Wing were the only things I wanted from LEGO as far as Andor coverage. Another TIE variant doesn’t interest me much, although I’m sure it’ll look cool. (I’m honestly over TIEs at this point.) An Imperial specialists/shore troopers battlepack would be the next-best choice in my book. In other news: I’ll be watching the Night-trooper battlepack with great interest. I can’t stand Star Wars mechs, but, if kids enjoy them, I guess I can’t complain. Maul is an excellent choice in that regard, although an uninteresting one in my book. The prospect of another Republic vehicle is intriguing; especially one that features a P1 Pilot. I’m hoping for a V-19 Torrent in line with the falsely rumored one from 2018: S1 Anakin and Obi-Wan, P1 Rex and Cody, the pilot, of course, and the almighty singular B1 battledroid. -

I was focusing on bigfigs with which I found issue. Bigfig Venom, Abomination, Juggernaut, all look fantastic and need to be made as soon as possible. That’d work for Colossus. The Blue People from Avatar are 10’, compared to Colossus’s supposed height of 7’7”, though. Maybe, but Lizard looks more spindly than bulky to me. I’m probably just too used to the version from NWH. -

As a huge fan of LEGO Marvel Superheroes, I will. Bigfig Thing looks good, but it’s way too big. Furthermore: Bigfig Lizard? Way too big. Bigfig Colossus? Ugly, way too big. Bigfig Groot? Looks like a particle of human waste, plain, and way too big. Bigfig Hulkbuster? A good size, actually, but too organic looking. Bigfig Kingpin? Why? Bigfig Hulk? Perfection. I love bigfigs. I want plenty more bigfigs so they can duke it out in my LEGO City street. Not everyone needs to be a bigfig, though. Is Vader a bigfig because he’s taller? Is Chewie? No, and rightly so. I believe the default ought to be the minifigure, then a bigfig is considered if the approximate scale feels right. -

I’m fine with the dark blue on Miles. It’s an aesthetic that most toy companies have been using; I wish LEGO had tried printing the blue darker or less visibly, but they went with the look that they did. I do wish the Spot had the sketch-line details which were present in the movie. Glad we at least know Miles will have an extra face and hair! It’s something every Spider-Man figure should do from now on, honestly. If the car is $12, and the shop is $20, then add a slight bit of an uptick to account for a fourth figure… I see this set as $35. $40 would be justified if Sony wanted their royalties. $50 is unjustifiable whatsoever. I’ll unfortunately wait to buy this until it hits around $35. I really don’t understand LEGO’s pricing anymore. We are past the point of ridiculous. -

So we weren’t going to execute him for saying that all of us smell like waste from the human bowels? or for calling the Alien Empress a not very nice name? Now, and only now, do we decide for an execution? Management must put up with a lot of stuff before we decide to execute, sheesh. -

Thank you for disclosing that these are actual takes of yours. Now I feel open to discuss them in a hopefully civil and constructive fashion. Surprisingly, the whole “Wookiees enslaved by the Empire” deal has never crossed my mind. I don’t care much about alien societies in SW, to be honest. (Except Chiss, but I think the whole “no droids” thing in Outbound Flight is dumb.) I believe it makes sense that Kashyyyk was cracked down by the Empire BECAUSE Wookiees are such a threat to them. ANH is one of the three best Star Wars films… I find that the dialogue is sometimes clunky, and sometimes in action sequences, where exposition should be minimized. Visually, beautifully. The Special Edition does detract from the film experience, which isn’t the case with the other two Original films. The only character who has an arc is Han Solo, and even then his development comes off as flat at best, cheesy at worst. Tarkin is a terrifying villain, though, arguably moreso than even Vader. I’ll debunk this. First thing of which I think when I think about Star Wars is Luke, Vader, Death Star, Falcon, Mando… secondary are the Prequels and Sequels and most other Star Wars. (I only include Mando in my list because Mando S2 was the first SW I viewed as it was being released; I watched TFA, TLJ years after they premiered in theaters, absolutely spoiled on both stories, and just in the past year watched TRoS for the first time.) I’m confused. When does Leia flat out lie? We believed Ben because that’s all we knew in ANH. Arguably, the lies he gives in RotJ (made apparent by the Preq—no, just Phantom Menace) are worse than the initial; if he’s supposed to be coming clean to Luke, then he needs to be completely honest. Yes, say that you compared your best friend to Jar Jar after you’ve explained the politics of taxation on plasma purifying. Vader is mostly a quiet terror in the OT. Chokes a guy, orders his men to kill everyone aboard the Tantive—except Leia, because he understands her importance to winning the war—starts to choke a high-ranking officer who made fun of him, oversees the destruction of a planet of innocent bystanders, chokes someone who got too close to Echo Base, chokes another guy who virtuously takes the blame for losing the Falcon, tortured a Rebel general for the fun of it… The guy is brutal. He does what the job requires him to do. He leads the charge on multiple occasions, showing he doesn’t care if he has to get his hands dirty. If he had to commit unspeakable atrocities to protect the Republic and gain the favour of the one who can save his wife, then he’ll do just that. Yes, Sebastian is the real Anakin—as far as RotJ. I’m accepting of the Hayden Christensen performance, but I like to keep the Original films visually separate from the Prequel movies (vice versa, though, I approve and appreciate). Anyway, I’m still baffled that they called the buildable Rey’s lightsaber set Luke’s lightsaber. Even then, why did we never get the much more iconic Ponda’s arm? -

Pick-a-brick threads? That seems so repetitive and boring, it makes me proud to jonkle here. First, though we need to ask the mods to close down the 2024 LSW Thread and open the 2025 Thread. Then, and only then, do we have a fighting chance. I also suggest we spam this thread with Monty Python lines or stupid Christmas carols. My hot takes: ANH has even clunkier lines of dialogue than the Prequels. Harrison Ford is also the weakest actor when it comes to delivering actual lines of the script (outside of the Cantina). -

Thank y’all so much for the kind words! Genuinely wasn’t trying to fish for compliments, but I appreciate every one of them. (Thought nobody would notice immediately… I thought wrong.) Bro, Seatron is so uncool, it didn’t even exist. XP Anyway, I shifted it to something more akin to a propaganda poster, in light of MandoKnight’s comment of “aspirational”. We done did it, boyos. Is the Aslume officially the longest running thread on Eurobricks? That’d be, hm, insanity. Inspiring. -

I personally will pull a Captain Jag on Billund if that’s the case. As far as I know, Plo’s SF was rumored by a guy who then turned around and said it was false, only for a reliable leaker to actually confirm it was indeed true. Did another leaker just come out and say it wasn’t happening? -

I believe that The LEGO Movie implies that the LEGO world is flat, for it all takes place on one singular plane in Will Ferrell’s basement. Unless we take into consideration the imaginations of rest of the world, all over the globe… in which case the LEGO universe is still flat. (By the way, any thoughts on the new profile picture? Should I switch back to something less graphic? [Ha, poor choice of words.]) -

Ha! They think they’ll get me to buy their dinky overpriced N-1 by throwing in R5-D4. As if! (As long as he isn’t $15 on Bricklink, anyway. 0_o) The Jedi Interceptor looks fantastic, although it’s still chronically oversized. Is the scale disparity to compensate for the LEGO astromechs’ larger scale? Anyway, a slightly different cockpit was an unnecessary expense, especially if that’s what contributed to the $45 price tag. Funny how Speed Champions is leading the way in terms of new detailing pieces (and building more compact). I wish we could’ve gotten a smiling Anakin head (there goes my great theory of a potential reuse in the Ewok Village), and he looks more fit for TCW than for RotS.(I fear he’ll be reused in several upcoming RotS sets, is all.) Ahsoka looks great; dark red is a choice, but one I don’t mind, and she has mid-legs at long last! Head looks suspiciously similar to her adult head from 2023, though. Shorter headtails are extremely welcome. Wish R7’s head dome was a new print, but, alas, it comes from some Fornite set. So, in both cases, they bait us collectors with cool astromechs in overpriced sets. (Ahsoka, who?) At least the Interceptor doesn’t have dinky little engines tacked onto it. Appreciate the Easter eggs in the midi-Home One. $70 is a tad overpriced, especially compared to the Invisible Hand, which is $50, and of similar compact size, though 3 cm shorter. -

True, but I was strictly referring to sets from before August 1st, 2024. January 1st this year was a disappointment, but that was because there were but two sets, only one about which I cared; in 2025, it’s about six sets, as I recall, and maybe two excite me. I strongly dislike being a downer, though, so I’ll try and restrain myself from complaining further. I agree that this is at least a decent start into 2025. As a side note, I don’t think I’ll ever forget my flabbergasted shock and gobsmacked awe when I randomly happened upon the Dark Falcon rumor; not much will be able to top that experience. Strangely, I’m struggling to figure out with what I should answer. (This is my third try writing this out.) I don’t buy most stuff Day 1, waiting for a discount on most sets instead. Still, here’s my list: 1. Andor S2 — I’m mostly hoping for a Fondor or anything with Luthen Rael; a strong character in a strong show only compels me to want his minifig. It’s a pipe dream, but I’d also love to see Two Tubes somehow next year. Going off what we know for sure, I can’t wait for K-2 and Cassian. 2. The Force Awakens - It’s one of my favourite Star Wars films, a great comfort movie of mine. Anything minifig-scaled (repeat: minifig-scaled) from that film, like a Black One, Troop Transport or Rey’s Speeder, would be greatly appreciated. Just one playset in the summer would warm my heart. 3. Revenge of the Sith - A lot of strong visuals and designs, for sure. I’d like to see less Jedi Interceptors and redundant Republic vehicles and more obscure vehicles. The ARC-170 is a great choice, and I’m hopeful the summer wave offers more in that vein. (As an aside, I’d love some celebratory box art for RotS to switch it up.) (Whoops! I added a fourth to my list because I am overly opinionated.) 4. Anything from Disney+ - If they can take next year to catch up on the Disney+ shows, I’d greatly appreciate it. Krrstantan, Battle-Damaged Vader, S3 Greef Karga, Mayfield, BoBF Cad Bane, Republic Crosshair, CX-2, Republic Commandos for Saint Peter’s sake! all are missed in my personal collection. There are still a couple great sets to make from Kenobi, Mando (maybe not S3, but the rest sure), Bad Batch, and Book of Boba that I’d love to see. (Sure, why not throw an Acolyte set in there too, not that I personally would care for it.) A special honourable mention goes to the Ewok Village that I hope beyond hope is the Fall D2C. As I’ve said before, all I need is to be able to recreate that wonderful, heartwarming final shot from RotJ—Force Ghosts or not. ;) -

Good points all around. Don’t forget Prowler’s motorcycle too! If he’s not in the CMF, I’d love a small $11ish set similar to the set with Venomized Doc Ock this year. I’m going to campaign for a Collider set in the near future. It would feature most of the unique villains from ItSV that don’t quite deserve CMF treatment, per se. Build would be a half of the full chamber, with plenty of studs to pose Minifigures, making it an all around great display piece for anyone’s minifig collection, just like the NWH Liberty Battle. -

Not to be the little dark rain cloud, but is anyone else feeling apathetic about the news so far? Most of the sets are overpriced or just don’t excite me. ARC-170 comes closest, and it’s only three clone pilots being included, nobody like Kit Fisto. U-Wing seems undersized, and not much is known about the figures. Plo Koon’s starfighter seems promising. At least last year we had news of the Captain Rex microfighter, Moff Gideon V. Paz Vizsla, Tantive IV hallway, plus the 25th Anniversary figures. Even now, I’m more pumped about LEGO Marvel’s 1HY than LSW’s first waves of 2025. -

Technically, you’re incorrect: all of these minifigures would be brand new designs, thus new minifigures. If you mean characters, then yes, you’re correct, but JohnTPT17 (TPT17 feels oddly specific, by the way) has already shown that previous series included repeats as well. The only reason why anyone was excited about those repeats was because of the source material, in my opinion; I’d argue that such is the case here. LEGO doesn’t throw minifigs into any set at random. They could, and according to us as consumers they should, but as a business they need to enforce limits to protect their bottom line. It would take three to six more sets to provide all the necessary characters, which replaces what could’ve been an X-Men, Spidey, or Avengers sets. I’ll repeat: there’s not much set-material from the Spider-Verse films. Plus, to do each character justice, with each having immaculate detail and unique design elements to their character, a CMF-budget would be required for printing all over, new molds, so on and so forth. If in a retail set, most of these unique characters would probably be missing all that detail. It would be acceptable, maybe, but not ideal. Obscure variants? Maybe, unless your introduction to some of these characters was the Spider-Verse films. The designs in these films are probably the strongest and most definitive versions of each character. They will be make for some wonderful minifigures. Of course, save your money as you like. As for me, I’ll probably buy the whole series, something I’ve never done previously, because I know I’ll appreciate every single character. -

I’ll weigh in with my opinion on the potential reuses in this Spider-Verse CMF: For Miles, while I do want THAT version of Miles, I’d also really love the version from the “What’s Up Danger?” scene or from the final battle with Kingpin. That suit is my absolute favourite Spider-Man outfit period—Bombastic Bag-man notwithstanding—and deserves CMF treatment in my oh so humble opinion. (Plus, if LEGO and Nike are friendly now, Miles could get the swoosh after all.) For Gwen, I’m gonna go on a limb and suggest her non-Spidey, “Hobbie’s jacket” outfit. It’d make for some differentiation, and make something that would appeal to non-Spider-Verse AFOLs. For Peter B., I’d like his AtSV pink bathrobe attire, since his ItSV look can be easily replicated. I’d also love a Mayday babyfig. I’m okay with Spider-Noir, as long as he has his Rubix cube. (Another copyright-mess, yes, but it’d be great for use outside a Spider-Verse CMF.) Spider-Ham should be excluded, since he’s in the Daily Bugle, and not much different from his look in ItSV. Penni would be a boring minifig without her mech, so that leaves two options open. My predictions/hopes for the Spider-Verse CMF: 1. Miles Morales (ItSV) 2. Gwen (Casual) 3. The Prowler (ItSV) 4. Peter B. Parker + Mayday (AtSV) 5. Spider-Man Noir (ItSV, baby) 6. Spider-Man 2099 (AtSV) with Lyla Hologram 7. Spider-Woman (AtSV) 8. Spider-Man India 9. Spider-Punk 10. Scarlet Spider (AtSV, h-e-double-hockey stick yeah) + Spider-Cat 11. Miles G. Morales (if you know you know) 12. Spider-Byte or Doc Ock (ItSV) or Vulture (AtSV) or Spider-Metro Boomin’ or Bombastic Bag-man -

…and after I excommunicated Black Widow because I thought I saw her hanging around the communications deck too much. Rats. So if Absolute Man can look like Michael Keaton, Christian Bale, and Adam West, are we sure he isn’t a Skrull? Are we still sure Kallus isn’t the true Brickheadz mastermind? Does Darth Brickbob wear all black? What will ever become of Black Knight in the MCU? Is there truly one, and will ever only be one, Blade? Am I stuck in the 1800s? Were all the LEGO City policemen secretly agents of Blacktron? Do I get Shield as Allies because ol’ Nick loves his black leather? Don’t I also get Knull? Can’t I just Venomize all y’all and you’ll have to join my side automatically because of these VERY arbitrary rules? Why don’t I just call on the Blacktron for help? Am I stupid? Oh, that’s right, my communications system has been disrupted. I think I need a Mystery Mouseketool. I won’t say it. I refuse to say it. Oh, fine. Oh, Tooodles!
