LEGO Star Wars 2024 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!
Swordy replied to MKJoshA's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I thought about this too, and I’m leaning toward the 2015 Slave 1 seeing a substantial bump in price. I don’t think many will be so willing to swap the parts to Boba’s paint job when there’s already been a dedicated UCS set. Plus, from my purely anecdotal and uninformed view, it feels like dark red curved slopes are much harder to come by as opposed to similar ones in dark blue; similarly, sand green tiles are harder to find than yellow or LBG tiles. I could also see many collectors wanting both models to compare the difference across 10 years. Then there’s the likelihood that “Slave 1” will be censored, as has been previously mentioned. Either way of the debate in which you lie, a censorship would make that 2015 Slave 1 plaque much more expensive. In summation, I really wish I bought that 2015 beauty sooner. Speaking of beauties, I’m glad that Plo’s starfighter is real and on schedule (on program) for next June! Can’t wait to see the figures included, although I’m just glad that Plo Koon is making a comeback. (I still want Kit Fisto in the ARC-170 even though I know that isn’t happening.) -

Please let this be real, please let this be real. If not, then the TVA should’ve pruned this dying timeline already. XP (That went into a dark direction and shockingly I’m perfectly okay with that.) -

Yeah, unfortunately you’re probably right on the money. I could absolutely see LEGO doing that. If so, there’ll be one Sword buying a mech on January 1st. I really want both the Superman and Fantastic Four movies equally to succeed, so I’ll try to support both as best as I can. If I must buy five mech sets to that end, then so be it, I suppose. Superman looks fantastic, although it’s sorely lacking leg printing. The torso looks good, especially when compared to the set photo. The face looks positively perfect, though, no complaints whatsoever. Long live Constable Zuvio. -

Just woke up to witness the damage, lol. In my defense, all of what I said relates to LEGO fans in any theme, and since the discussion was started in LSW, it was continued in LSW. Replace terms like “Big Truck” and “SUV” with “Jedi Starfighter” and “ARC-170,” respectively, and you’ve got something applicable to LSW. Likewise, one could replace each respectively with “Batmobile” and “Batwing,” if this were in the DC Aslume, so I should’ve pointed out the connections to LSW. I’ll drop the discussion. Thank you for the warning. -

The flaw in your analogy is that other car manufacturers create big trucks. On the other hand, Megablocks ain’t doing Star Wars, and likely never will. If you wanna talk about the need of competition between plastic bricks, I’d think it best not to bring it up in a forum for one of LEGO’s exclusive licenses. It’s not just plastic bricks, as much as it is plastic minifigs and the promise of a detailed model created by top-level LEGO designers, neither of which Megablocks can offer. (I only refer to Megablocks as the generic not-LEGO plastic brick manufacturer.) Let me propose this hypothetical, going along with your Ford analogy. Ford unveils a new big truck, loaded with all the new bells and whistles. The price is a 50% mark up from the previous year’s model. Meanwhile, Ford also offers alongside it an SUV, which is updated moderately from the previous year’s model, and priced with a reasonable mark-up in respect to inflation. People flock to the SUV, Ford notices, while dozens of dozens of “Big Trucks” don’t move off the lot. The next year, Ford raises the price of the SUV, and lowers the price of the Big Truck to compensate for sales (the name is ridiculous and I don’t care). Ford observes that the Big Truck is sold out, while people seem uninterested in the SUV. If Ford is smart, they’ll figure out that the reason people didn’t buy the Big Truck from the first year and the SUV from the second is because of the outrageous price of both, respectively. They don’t have access to Toyota’s sales, and they don’t need them to see what sells and what doesn’t within their own product lineup. (Besides, they aren’t making Toyotas, but Fords, which are different enough for the public to care.) Another premise to consider is that Ford by year two might’ve sullied their image with ridiculous prices if they aren’t careful. The way to gain back the people who’ve stopped buying Ford products is to cultivate a consistent brand of affordability and trust of quality with their costumers. To summarize: fans of LEGO should vote with their wallets to let the bean-counters at LEGO know how to better sell their own products The LEGO Group adapts as the market adapts. -

Already knew the first. Honestly, Ant-Man as a mech will look kinda goofy, no matter which way you slice it. Disappointed that it’s just the mech that’ll be PS4 inspired and not the Spidey as well. It is what it is, I suppose. Glad to see LEGO won’t cheap out on Spot. Maybe arm-printing could be used as well, but I find that less necessary than leg-printing. Side note, it’s so nice to see multiple sources confirm that, indeed, Spider-Verse will be included in the set title. :D -

A neew U-Wing? YES! (That was a typo, but I’m gonna leave it in because why not.) Apparently it’s 75399, which is rumored to be $80. I personally would’ve liked to have seen it at $140, given it’s the Republic Gunship equivalent of the Rebel Alliance. Whatever; I can’t wait to see a new U-Wing, especially if it ties into Andor S2 (which should be releasing around that May time period, as I recall). UCS Jango Slave 1 — My reaction: Wait what. Now I’m conflicted. On the one hand, I love Boba’s Slave 1, and I’ve always wanted a UCS version. Jango’s would be a nice compromise until then. On the other hand, though, I’d then have a Jango Slave 1 that’s way larger than my current Boba Slave 1 (the 2021 model), whereas my preference would be the other way around. Besides, a playset would be far more exciting and include more interesting figures. I think I know why it’s a UCS set, though: only adult collectors care about Jango’s Slave 1, and it’s because of nostalgia and nostalgia alone. There, I said it. (On second thought, that might come off too strong, but what is the internet if not outrage? :P) I’m gonna hold my breath on Plo Koon’s starfighter, although it’d be a beauty of a set if true. -

Meanwhile I’m over here dreaming of the Red Hulk vs Captain America set this December… oh, and then the Fantastic Four have been confirmed to be coming in 2025… :D Y’know, I guess I had always thought of the X-Mansion as an open-backed building, but, yeah, it does need to be closed off on all sides to fit with the rest of the modular buildings. Maybe it’ll have a hinged opening to the back? Let’s also never forget that the Sanctum was $250, a clear $20-$30 above what is now the normal price for a modular. (It was also for a short period $50 more expensive than some modulars!) The Museum, along with the rest of the modular buildings, also usually use more intricate and complicated techniques than your average D2C. Each unlicensed modular building is a work of the art by the designer, while these licensed buildings are trying to recreate an already existing design—while looking beautiful nonetheless—and thus likely use less smaller bricks for detailing and more generic construction. So basically, it’s possible that the Museum has more finer details than the X-Mansion, thus inflating the count of former over the latter. If Stonewars have seen it, that only increases my expectations of a proper leak within the next week -

Quite a bit of catching up to do. Better late than never, right? (Please someone validate me for forgetting to comment on this forum. Yes, of course, I’m joking.) That leaked Cap figure… In the words of our favourite weapons specialist, “Oh, it’s beautiful.” After six years of settling with the AoU torso for the Civil War uniform, and after twelve years of LEGO Steve Rogers never putting on boots, we’ve been vindicated. The suit in film is easily one of my favorites, and the minifig doesn’t disappoint one bit. Seeing a new LEGO Ant-Man MINIFIG puts a smile on my face as well. However, should he be in the Civil War set, it’s sorta a waste, in my view, given the recent news of his inclusion in the Endgame Final Battle (2025 Edt., of course). Speaking of which… The minifigs in the Endgame set sound… fine. :| Much of the same, unfortunately, but I’m slightly hopeful we’ll see an updated Doctor Strange and Cap for Endgame. (Not holding my breath on either, though.) Ooh, maybe we can get a broken shield for Cap? (Yep, definitely not holding my breath on that one.) I’m a tad bit annoyed that Ant-Man was included, but not Iron Patriot Mk. 2 or even Black Panther for crying out loud? I predict that Thanos will have an exclusive confused face so that collectors will begin to speculate on the angry-faced Thanos in the otherwise unpopular Endgame Final Battle (2023 Edt., of course). Lastly, Jean Grey! Finally, after so many years, she’s here, and she looks really good in my opinion! I personally would’ve appreciated if the suit’s yellow was classic yellow, and if the suit had featured regular blue highlights to brighten up the dark blue pattern. I think that maybe the face print is too… narrow? Something’s off about it; definitely the opacity, sure, but there’s something else too. Nonetheless, the minifig was executed very excellently overall. A hair piece in tomato soup orange? Yes please! Can’t wait to see the rest of X-Mansion soon! (Because we all know that it’ll leak in a week or so if the reveal is a month away.) -

…yeah, I’ll be keeping onto my arsenal of Tumblers for the moment, thank you… My brother, Clone Commando, is this what our beloved would really want? In her past, she may have fought in defense of a regime, but she devoted her life afterward to fighting for freedom of choice and liberty of life across the galaxy. You’ve watched Horrible Histories (which I still haven’t yet, unfortunately) and are a Brit, after all, who’s probably studied your own history on occasion. Thus, you know that to replace one regime with another can only lead to a worser state than previous. You’ll only further mistrust and divide society further than before. The former regime’s allies and leaders will work back to power. If power, even your own power, goes unchecked by the people, then how will those who seek only their own go unchecked when they are elected to positions of government? Morally speaking, who can decide the villains: us, them, some random dude online who goes by the name of a weapon with a y at the end to make it sound more casual? Aren’t we all villains in some way? Yet should we destroy ourselves? Nay, but we work to make society at large better by resting power into the hands of the people whom that power will affect. Will evil still exist? Absolutely, for men will always be selfish (quite a few women, while we’re at it.) However, the virus of selfishness will remain out of power as long as people are vigilant. If they choose not to be vigilant, then they shall suffer the consequences. Who should give or not give them the right to choose their fate? Us, them, some random dude online who really likes a certain CMF Series 1 minifigure? Free will belongs to the people, thus government should belong to the people. Common law is what binds a society together against true, prevailing evil, not the words of a man (or woman) who proclaims what is good or bad. All of that to say, the new Space Police uniform looks way better than the original, although perhaps the yellow looks slightly off? Looks a bit greenish, in my oh so humble opinion. Maybe if it matched the Yellow Lantern logo more it’d look better? At the very least, some more red in the yellow colouration would work better. -

$40 for the Rebels and Stormtroopers battlepack? ….Fine. I’ll buy one and probably be done unless I see it on a discount. $35 would’ve been preferred (yes, I realize that’s absolutely too optimistic for the year 2024) but $40 isn’t terribly out of the realm of possibility. I still maintain that the set could’ve and even should’ve included R2-KT and been some kind of charity tie-in with the 501st; something really special for their 25th anniversary to give back. Instead, we get more branding to drive up TLG’s sales and line their pockets. It’s not like they had to, sure, but it would’ve been really nice anyway. On the topic of the Sail Barge, it looks alright. Too many studs along the outside for my taste, but I can live with it, I suppose. I can’t see the build as being any more than $400. However, for the minifigs and the massive sails, I’d be willing to pay $450 at most; $425 would be better though. So $500, in my opinion, is too far of a stretch for what it is. The Bib fig is a shameful reuse of that minifig headpiece. It really looks bad in this case, and only speak of pure laziness on corporate management’s part. (I’m positive the designers would’ve been more than happy to bring back that 2012 mold, if not create a brand new one.) Great to have a Jabba back in the system, though! I hope to see another set with him, maybe a diorama, along the lines of what was falsely rumored last year? I believe that his inclusion alone would boost up the price of the set, albeit marginally. -

Maybe we could all appreciate every character for what they are instead of calling characters we personally don’t care about filler minifigures? I didn’t watch Moon Knight, but I appreciate the coolness of that character. I’ll probably never watch She-Hulk, but I’m glad to have that character in my collection. I’ve never seen a single X-Men movie, (jaw-dropping, I know) but I’m excited for the upcoming X-Mansion. Even characters like Echo and Goliath, two characters about which I couldn’t care less, I believe are the best minifigures of that series, and I appreciate using those characters in battles throughout my LEGO City. -

I’ve read all your comments. I’ve chose to stay in the shadows until the chaos died down. This League of yours, it clearly needs some work. Y’all can’t seem to figure out your inside joke strategies, and this has only lead to a civil war between those for and against Mara Jade. Wasn’t the name already “Mara Jade Brigade?” Anyway, I don’t talk much because I don’t have anything of absolute importance to say. But I always come back. I always lurk in the shadows. However, I do not appreciate all of these comparisons to this dude you guys keeping calling “Bat-man”. I am Man. Will I be your most used member? Not at that the moment, no. (Then again, was Man ever the most used either.) Have I kidnapped ten kids? …For legal reasons I decline to comment. Do I share in the Mara Jade is Great faith? All hail our beloved Saint Mara! Will I ever make some bigoted comment? Depends on your definition. (A bigoted comment, by wording alone, would imply that the comment itself is being prejudiced against.) Can I fund the league in LEGO? …For legal reasons I decline to the comment. Does Paul enrage me? Paul is. Do I have an AI that tried to take over the world? …Yes, actually. I’ll leave you all to deliberate in this Court of Owls. Man out. *bampf* -

No, I must run from this responsibility. I never stay up late at night. I definitely do not say “BECUZ I’M BATMAN,” to every life problem I face. I don’t listen to the Batman Begins or Dark Knight soundtrack all the time. Nope, I’m definitely not the hero the Aslume deserves, but I may be the one it needs. No, wait. Does this opposite logic I’m using to prove I’m not a Dark Knight, in so fact prove that I am? Am I Just Lean? Am I the Nitro Pepsi? Am I… Man? -
Hypothetically, if I were to one day build an N-1 starfighter and spray paint the respective parts in chrome, couldn’t I just use randomly-coloured parts instead of sourcing all the parts in LBG? Would the colour underneath affect the look of the chrome paint at all?

Should we be more upset about the lack of the Fantastic Four after all this time or the lack of Heimdall, Odin, Sif, and other Asgardians after a couple successful classic Thor adventures? I can’t decide which is the greater tragedy. Oh, and count me #TeamBigfig on the Thing. Give collectors a minifig in a polybag like the they’ve done with Hulk in the past, and give us a bigfig in the regular sets. I do agree that bigfigs are oversized as is, but they also look so cool on display. A Thanos minifig doesn’t stand out as much as a Thanos bigfig, even if the minifig is at the more proper scale. I need more bigfigs in my life. Can’t wait for the BNW Red Hulk. Is there any word on if there will be a release-day GWP for the X-Mansion? If not, are there or might there be any extra incentives to buying it day 1 on November 1st? -

I’d distinguish the old pattern of one or two buildable sets every year from this recent trend of multiple buildable sets in one year. One buildable BB-8 or Porg is different than a buildable Artoo, Droideka, Threepio, and four small chibi droids. Releasing multiple buildable sets at varying scales takes away from the novelty of one or not buildable creatures. It’d be like if UCS sets were released in every wave; the collectibility factor decreases with oversaturation. I personally don’t count the Helmet Collection with the buildable creatures or droids, and I don’t believe many others do either, thus their introduction and subsequent success doesn’t equal greater success for the buildable creature line. However, LEGO may see this trend differently, and believe that the market is leaning toward 18+ buildable sets. Thus, more black boxes and collector items, and less playsets. I personally expect to see a sharp decrease in buildable items by 2026 at the earliest, as I don’t think this recent crop of sets are that popular with LEGO Star Wars fanbase, much less with the general public. It’s too early to see if they are viably successful at all, though. -

We need to stop being upset about inaccurate colouration of clone armor, incorrect number of Imperial pens, and wrong belt buckles on Republic officers. We’re all overlooking the biggest, most terrible, glaring error ever in LEGO Star Wars: they misspelled “Shield” in 75291: Death Star Final Duel. This is outrageous, I tell you! It’s unfair, I say! (So, how do the kids these days clue people in that the ridiculous thing they’re saying is a joke? I can’t begin to keep up with all the lingo and trends of the youngsters.) By the way, do we know for sure that the May D2C won’t be an Ewok Village, and that the Ewok Village (or something Endor related) will be a fall D2C? -

Give me Patrick Henry or give me death. (Erm, axcutally, “Turtle’s” in that sentence is an adjective, not a noun. A prepositional phrase can only be used in relation to a noun, at best an adjectival or adverbial phrase. Also, you can only add an appositive to another noun. Thus, the correct way to phrase it would be something such as, “…at the same time of the banishment of Turtle, a confirmed conspirator.” Sorry for English class today. 🤓) (Yes, I am very aware my grammar is going to be placed under high scrutiny. 😅 On it, bring.) In all honesty, I was initially hurt you would suspect me. However, given this conspiracy has roots in the very founding of Rome, I know everyone is under suspicion. I’m always lurking in the shadows… watching… waiting… for our savior to come… his second coming has been foretold by the leakers… SUPERMAN’s mech! *John Williams’s Superman Mech March begins to play* What if the Aslume itself is the reason we aren’t getting DC sets? That this forum is over 100 pages long and we’ve been so busy unraveling the mystery of the LEGO multiverse, and that the DC team won’t even look to see what the fans want, will lead only to more Batman sets? Perhaps we have become the architects of our own destruction?
