Grammar lesson mode on! "-mancy" is a Greek root word that means "divination" or "prophecy". "-mancer" refers to a diviner. Therefore, "necromancer" means one who attempts to divine the future using bones and dead body parts, while "aeromancer" means one who divines the future using wind and weather patterns. Many other "-mancy"s existed back then, such as pyromancy, hydromancy, and cryomancy which have already been explained, but there were other weird ones like rhabdomancy, meaning divination via rods. All of these were seen as unusual and mystical, but necromancers, due to the macabre nature of their art, were seen as witch doctors or evil wizards. "Necromancy" eventually came to mean something more along the lines of "black magic" than "divination via bones", and the other classical elements (pyromancy, hydromancy, cryomancy, aeromancy, geomancy) followed and changed from "divination via <insert classical element here>" to fire magic, water magic, ice magic, wind magic and earth magic respectively. When I created Arasmyth, he described himself as an "aeromancer" as part of my self-imposed ruleset (You may only use Wind, Lightning, and Water magic, but you can't use Water magic in battle, when I become an Evoker, I may not switch classes at any point for any reason and may summon only a Wind spirit, I may only utilize Wind, Lightning, Water or Ice imbued weapons or Bombs, if he dies I must make a new character. Why, may you ask? Just thought it would be fun. I'm the kind of person who does Nuzlocke challenges on their Pokemon games), and the naming system sort of stuck. (If someone before me used this naming system, I apologize, I only briefly skimmed the pages of the Hall before I joined so I may be mistaken in the belief that I was the first). I believe Heroica mages are Pyromancers, Cryomancers, Hydromancers, Geomancers, Electromancers, Herbomancers, Aeromancers, Necromancers, and Photomancers, if I have my Greek roots right. Oh, and here's a list of some of the weirder "mancy"s.

I've updated Arasmyth's stuff on my About Me page, he's now 214 and has a quote that I think you'll enjoy.

Mafia School: A Bedtime Story - Conclusion
Kadabra replied to Sandy's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
Scum already knew my role from LotF, so it didn't actually hurt. Now, if the town believed me and lynched Aladdin, then we might have won. -

Curses! Well played everyone, especially you, Chromeknight! I really never suspected you! -
Memories of elves swarming across a fast rushing river, stones flying through the air, the numbness in his arms as he discharged a huge amount of Lightning energy. He shuddered, them spat at the traitor to the fair name of elves, then traveled to the library to research the new Elven dialect he had learned. He prided himself on his linguistics, and seeing a variation of his native tongue he didn't know was an insult to his pride. He also wanted to learn what some of those curses meant, one could never have too many obscenities in their vocabulary. As he left, he idly penned down his name for Quest 32.

Mafia School: A Bedtime Story - Day Four
Kadabra replied to Sandy's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
Because we were unsure ofPuss at that point. I now believe that the Townies are: Me, White, Ariel, Charming, Rabbit and you. I couldbe wrong on rabbit or you, seeing your voting for Ariel with two all-but confirmed scum. If you are a townie, I beg you to reconsider. -
"Blast. I still have to hope I'll get chosen for Quest 29,Iwould hate to be left out of this situation in Dastan."

Sleeping g, Mermaid, Snowy, and Igot together and orchestrated a plan to get Aladdin lynched today because he was the only one we knew was Scu for sure. The plan was pretty much "Vote for Aladdin before they off Puss or Mermaid!" Sleeping was supposed to send it to you and Charming, our number 1 townie suspects, last night, though obviously she didn't. Actually, Ariel, Witch, if the three of us vote for Puss, who I'm pretty sure is Scum at this point, we can wrap this day up right now. -

Witch, I think what's happening speaks for itself... Sleeping was an I side agent who's been feeding stuff from me, Cindy (bless her soul), Snowy, etc. to the Scum, and now their using the penalty to off Ariel. If you're a good guy, vote for Aladdin! -

Why? Shouldn't we all team up on Aladdin as per the plan? Although, seeing as it was Sleeping who was supposed to send the plan to everyone else, I doubt it got out there. CALLING ALL TOWNIES! VOTE FOR ALADDIN! -

And there's the proof Aladdin is Scum. Too bad we're screwed, know. Quick, Townies, vote for Aladdin! Before God realizes that we've reached a majority! (That was a joke, btw, if you hadn't noticed) -

Erm, I suppose you're right. This is disappointing, that Sleeping is scum, but we oughta go ahead with the plan. Unvote: Sleeping Beauty (Chromeknight) Vote: Aladdin (Palathaldric) -

Well, doesn't that seem scummy, Beauty? I thought we agreed to vote for Aladdin, our confirmed Scum? Vote: Sleeping Beauty (Chromeknight) I do believe the correct proclamation is, OMG, you suck! (For betraying my trust, not for voting for me. Because, you know, you voted for Ariel. ) -
"Indeed. I am unfamiliar with your dialect as well, may I ask where you hail from? (OOC: Where do you get your foreign language words from?) I am indeed a Mage, an aeromancer to be specific. I practice the manipulation of winds and weather. You are a cleric, yes? Do you worship Isiris or Galadrya and Celebryon?"

Arasmyth eases himself into a seat at the bar, tense with anticipation to see if he'd been chosen for either of the Quests he'd signed up for. He was looking forward to working with the Lion Knights again. A pointed ear in his peripheral vision caught his eye, and he moved over to a female elf sitting a few stools over. "Atra esterni ono thelduin. Mor'ranar lifa unin hjarta onr. Un do evarinya ono varda." he stated, bowing deeply and performing a traditional Elven hand gesture. "Hail, fair maiden of the forests. I am known as RuGard, Arasmyth RuGard. May I inquire as to your name?" He spoke stiffly and formally as was proper when addressing a lady one wasn't familiar with. OOC: Why yes, that Elven greeting was ripped off from Inheritance, thank you for noticing.

"Thanks White. That means a lot to me. As I said yesterday, we need to lynch Aladdin. He is our only solid lead, and whether it's him or me, it will lead to a Scum lynch. We can't afford to just lynch at random now that our numbers have dwindled so without a single scumkill." -
Mafia School: A Bedtime Story - Day Four
Kadabra replied to Sandy's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
As I said yesterday, the only reason I'm still alive is because they want you to lynch me so they don't have to waste their night kill on me.Seeing as they know my identity, they can just kee Blocking me each night (as they did tonight) until you lynch me. So I don't have a result. Thanks for sticking up for me, sis, but I think I'm as good as lynched today. -
Mafia School: A Bedtime Story - Day Three
Kadabra replied to Sandy's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
They're probably going to leave me alive overnight just so you lynch me and kill someone else now. We need to lynch Aladdin, that will reveal my alignment far better than waiting overnight after lynching someone who is still potentially town (idiotic town, perhaps, but still possibly town). -
Mafia School: A Bedtime Story - Day Three
Kadabra replied to Sandy's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
Is there any evidence for a lynch more concrete than a Cop investigation? If you wait and don't lynch Aladdin, he'll just try and confuse you more. If he's town, I'm lynched tomorrow. We're not at LyLo yet, so either way to get one Scum for sure. -
Mafia School: A Bedtime Story - Day Three
Kadabra replied to Sandy's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
Er, no. I'm pretty sure Jack is town. Aladdin sent him a PM saying that he was town and being framed by me, and that Jack was next. Aladdin is the one saying I'm the Scum role-cop and is pushing for my lynch. -
Mafia School: A Bedtime Story - Day Three
Kadabra replied to Sandy's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
Shit. I'm the freakin' Doctor, and Scum knows who I am too, thanks to Goldilocks. I've got a gambit in place, so the Scum might think twice about killing me, but... I'm going to protect you now. God dammit, LotF! Why did he have to completely ignore the dat threads?? At which point he sent me and Beauty a bunch of his PM chains. This should prove beyond a reasonable doubt that I'm telling the truth, as I don't think anyone can replicate an authentic Flipz wall-of-text! Oh, and before I forget: Vote: Aladdin (palathadric) -
Mafia School: A Bedtime Story - Day Three
Kadabra replied to Sandy's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
I claimed Cop, not role cop. As I said, Cindy was in contact with me and Sleeping Beauty last night, and she told me that she had been protecting Snowy, until realizing I was Cop, at which point she switched. Do you need me to quote our PM chain? -
Mafia School: A Bedtime Story - Day Three
Kadabra replied to Sandy's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
She was, she switched when she learned I was a Cop. In the nick of time, too. Sleeping can corroborate my story. I'm also suspicious of Jack, as he contacted me privately as soon as I replaced LotF woke up and asked me if I was Cop and presented me with a couple of people to investigate without even waiting for me to reply. It seemed odd, but innocent until Aladdin, who I already knew was Scum, contacted me telling me he knew I was Cop, at which point it looked extremely Scummy as if he were Scum he'd know I was Cop already. I'll investigate him tonight as he's the one I'm most on the fence about and try to get my results to a couple people I trust before I'm killed. Assuming I'm not blocked again, which is extremely likely unless Aladdin was their blocker. -

She had entrusted Aladdin with her identity, so the point is moot.
