  1. Quarryman, while it is a good solution, then you have people that waited and waited for the topic to go up, posted as soon as it opened, and then didn't get a spot. That would probably not bode well...<_< I suggest something else - perhaps we should take a vote, but I think we should have two mafia games running at somewhat staggered times, that way when one ends another one is going on while the signups begin for a third one. For instance, taking three random games: -Witch Hunt mafia goes up. -One week later, Fabuland Mafia goes up. -Witch Hunt Mafia ends, or Fabuland Mafia ends - whichever one ends first. -Pirate Mafia begins. Of course, we'd need guidelines for this: -You can only be in one mafia game at a time. IF YOU DIE, you CAN join another game if the signup goes up AFTER your death. -If you are hosting a game, you can't be in the other one. etc. etc. Sound good? ~Trexxen
  2. Beam me up, Scotty! ...err, not era appropriate? Ok... Signeth me upeth, old chap...eth. ~Trexxen
  3. While it's not a new role, it's new to mafia games here and that's what's important - bringing new (traditional) gameplay to a current favorite was a very good move. As I implied earlier, this was very close to a true classic mafia game. There was a mafia group, a splinter murderer (Arsonist; a form of the "Serial Killer" role that so many mafia games adore...), peeping toms, abilities that triggered on death (ok, THAT I've rarely ever seen, and it's never been investigator, so full credit to Hinckley there...=D)...this mafia game was truly modeled after many other successful games, and with a touch of Hinckley (which makes anything 150% concentrated win anyways), it amounted to a great game. Another thing I liked was the sprinkling of clues - a perfect bridge between the Western Mafia, which gave few if any clues and had us rely on cunning, wit, and eachother's posts to win, and the Mystery Castle, which gave plenty of clues - even if none of us figured them out... I'll tell you right now, when I get to doing the Pirate game (still haven't even decided on a title yet - heck, haven't gotten together with Ivan - err, Imperial Shadows yet either =P), anything and everything can and will be a clue - and that'll play to everyone's advantage. ~Trexxen (currently researching marketing to come up with a slogan for Hinckley, the soft drink with 150% more win in every gulp)
  4. *claps* Bravo! Always good to see the town win...unless I'm scum, of course! Firstly, a bit of an explanation for my notes on night 3 and my cryptic comment on day 2 - I had investigated Ivan two days in a row after finding him out of his house one night. The first night I found him out of the house, and three people died (If I recall correctly...), making me suspicious. I didn't get a chance to say it (my regards to the arsonist - may you burn in a locked house, or a megabloks factory, whatever you choose), but him being out of the house the next night confirmed my doubts that Ivan would be a baritone. The only death that night was my death by flaming, and so I figured that he had to be doing something else out there - and so I figured that he had a night action he could use for good. What WAS his night action, anyways? ~Trexxen (I'm keeping my avvy as long as I can, by the way - I don't have my own, and I've grown rather fond of my charred corpse ) [EDIT: Oh, and before I get, compliments to the chef - No, not you Ivan, you Russian/Italian wrestler you - but to Hinckley. For what I ASSUME is your first hosting of a mafia game, this was magnificent - you had everything a traditional mafia game should have, and then your own little twists to make it special. Though it didn't last long, especially compared to Mystery Castle (that went on for, what, three or four months?) or of course the Roman Mafia, it was nonstop action every step of the way. Three thumbs up (Yes, three - I grabbed one from the construction man chunks) for this game! =D]
  5. I prefer GNR's old stuff, and actually their new stuff. Their old stuff is self-explanatory; songs like November Rain, Knockin' On Heaven's Door, Paradise City, Welcome To The Jungle, Sweet Child O' Mine...etc. The new stuff, only one song of which I've heard, is pretty much a different band entirely. But it's amazing. Shackler's Revenge is great, and TBH, Slash can't hold a finger to Buckethead when it comes to guitar. I'll edit this post with a video of the song when I get home from school. [EDIT]: I don't believe there's a reason (I don't, I hope you see this...) ~Trexxen
  6. Well, since this is a WIP you have plenty of time to add to this MOC - but sometimes things are too full to add anymore. I like this MOC, but even with your brilliant story (and man, it's good - but I have to wonder, where did the monkey get its steroids? Seriously, pulling the skeleton OUT of the boy's body? O_o ), I honestly have no clue what's going on except that people are dying, and there's lots of blood. This MOC suffers from trying to cram a little too much action onto a tiny space. Since this is the "large" portion of the competition, go wild with how much base you use! You don't HAVE to make it 16x16, go large! I'd say that if you doubled the size (32x32), you'd end up with a much more effective MOC. Add some foliage to one side - the islanders had to come from somewhere - and a beach on the other, maybe even with a small boat (or a section of large boat) coming ashore! The only thing wrong with this entry (the guard tower is great, I especially like the caged islander!) is that there's just not enough room for all your great ideas. Expand a bit, use the expansion to add some landscaping, and then you've got an amazing MOC on your hands! ~Trexxen
  7. As many users have already told you, the most glaring flaw is that there's nothing going on. This contest was really designed for action scenes - pillaging, murdering, mutilating, rape (Ok, I'll give you that THAT may be a little too far...) - anything that shows just how determined the Pirates were to get their treasure. A simple improvement would be either to have the Pirate attacking the rat, or better yet, to have him sort of "going mad" while holding a treasure map - in other words, he got his treasure, but at a cost; and he's taking it out on the rat. Other than that, the MOC itself is nice - but a bit of backstory is what we really need. From what I can see, it's just a pirate on an island. That's it - you've got the bones of the story, now add the meat. How did he get there? Why is he there? What is a rat doing on a deserted island hundreds of miles out into sea, and how is it still alive with barely even sand to eat? MOCs are great, and this one is no exception - but a story gives it the extra edge, you know? ~Trexxen
  8. Oh, I'm in for sure! I love being a critic, it makes me feel helpful and I would expect the same quality of posts on my models as I would give to anyone else's =D And also, to be fair, English IS my first language, so judge as harshly as you deem necessary =P ~Trexxen
  9. indeed! Nightwish is amazing! Now mine's: Ramblin' Man - Allman Brothers Band Dr. Feelgood - Motley Crue (still) Colony of Birchmen - Mastodon ~Trexxen
  10. Oh, this will be good =P I actually got hooked on Lego in 1997, when I was 4. You see, at that age (I had JUST turned 4, mind), my mom was having trouble potty training me. One day she told me she had a toy, and if I "used the potty", I could have it. That did it - no more trouble with it, and I got a shiny new toy - a bright blue bucket of lego. From then on I was hooked; and I remember getting tons of sets. I seem to recall that the Adventurers sets were my favorite - Johnny Thunder was a childhood hero of mine =D I wasn't a very strong kid, so the first couple of times I got Roboriders/Throwbots (some of my favorite sets back then; though I loved other kinds too), I actually had to ask for help putting them together =P Other than that, though, the instructions were easy to follow - and yet I still have to build for my 6-year-old brother =P That's pretty much it for what got me into it; but if you really want to get into it, I got into them twice. Around late 2003 or so, I had my "dark ages" - simply put I had another, more important hobby - video games. (I since have learned to do both equally XD) This culminated in me GIVING AWAY a box of lego that weighed about 50 pounds and was full of old Star Wars, Bionicle, Adventurers, Western, and anything else you could think of... This lasted a few years, until 06, when I saw the Piraka in a store and just grabbed one on an impulse buy. When I got home I built it, and I was hooked again - though, I was hooked on Bionicle rather than normal lego. That branched out into Exo-Force, and now I'm back to system, trying to rekindle my childhood. Currently my favorite themes are those I didn't get to experience - Pirates (the only pirates set I've ever had was one with King Kahuka in it...) and Star Wars (I didn't see Episode 2, and still haven't actually, so I only bought OT and Ep. 1 sets - and when Episode 2 became the main movie for a while, I just stopped buying them =P) Whew, long post! I think I went a bit too into detail there...=P Oh well - lord I was born a ramblin' man! ~Trexxen
  11. Hit 'em right between the eyes, hit 'em right between the eyes ^.~ (Might as well return the quote from earlier - you have good taste ) Currently listening to: Dr. Feelgood - Motley Crue (OMG Rock Band full album DLC coming soon, so much win!) Under The Bridge - RHCP (Man it feels good to rediscover old music you've forgotten =D) Am I Evil? - Metallica (Yes I am. Am I Evil? I am man!) Pull Me Under - Dream Theater (Watch the sparrow falling, gives new meaning to it all...) Black Diamond - Stratovarius (The original Power Metal, some INSANE guitar work here =P) Do It Again - Steely Dan (See the comment for Under The Bridge) ~Trexxen
  12. Lol, can't wait for the Witch Hunt TinyPies! I'm in for sure - I'll sign up officially in the thread, of course, though if you want to let me be a turd and weasel my way in, I can't complain either, eh? XD Also, ImperialShadows, I'll send you a PM either later tonight or tomorrow perhaps about the Pirate game - there's no time like the present to get something started! =D ~Trexxen
  13. I know this is probably a rather stupid question, but I haven't seen it answered yet and I'd hate to have my first chance to lay my hands on a pirate set (I'm a sad, sad man ;_; ) squandered by such a petty thing, so...uh... Can the Pirates be pillaging/backstabbing/fighting other Pirates? I don't have any imperials yet, although I do have two shakos and another on the way =P ~Trexxen
  14. Geeze, maybe we should change your title to husband killer? XD ptdapen, Yep - that role is called a peeping tom throughout most mafia games; though it can have variations on what it allows you to do. Sometimes it tells you the same thing it told me, and sometimes you have a specific target. =P Oh, and Hinckley, I forgot to mention - I actually laughed aloud when I read that I was a pervert XD ~Trexxen
  15. "No! Not my winning streak!! Wait. Why did I say that?" =P It was great playing; I wondered how long it'd take for them to take me out...oh well. Goodbye all... *Trekk fades into the ghostly beyond, you swear you smell roast as he departs...* ~Trexxen
  16. Wait, what? Mario could have hundreds of things - the Koopa Clown Car, Yoshi's house, a Brawl-style Luigi's mansion... And Metroid would be like a single-protagonist (save for the Prime 3 sets), sci-fi version of the Viking line - sure, you'd have her ship, but then you'd also have a Parasite Queen model (complete with rotating force field), a Mother Brain and Giant Metroid set (Super Metroid), a Dark Samus Duel set (MP3) (or [spoilerS]Aurora Unit 313[END SPOILERS]), a "meeting in the control room" with Commander, Samus, Rundas, Gandraya, Ghor, and a trans-blue Aurora (=D)... And don't forget a UCS Ridley. (Omega, Meta, whatever. =P) ~Trexxen
  17. Oh wow, that monkey is AMAZING - I love how you did the arms. A single piece can go a long way if it's flexible...=D Any chance of you making instructions of these? I'd like to be able to make something as posable as these seem to be (especially the panda!), but under all the rubber bands and vests (=P) I just can't tell XD ~Trexxen (P.S. I don't really think the furry discussion is appropriate here, as it is highjacking Sir Nadroj's thread. If you want to PM me and ask me, though, I know all about it considering I hang with a bunch of them in a chatroom. =P )
  18. Well, Adam, if you need any help running it let me know and I'll give you the basics - and if you haven't already, pencil me in for a spot! Barring any getting murdered, I intend to keep my win streak going (and technically if I die I still win if my side wins =P) ~Trexxen
  19. Ah, another baritone caught - we can only hope that Florence is right, but now it all makes sense - the notice that the town would be leveled for casinos, obviously owned by the Baritone family! Pete, I voted you in - how could you do this to me? Vote Mayor/ptdapen And for the record, I have more suspicions now...but they can wait until I have more solid evidence tomorrow. ~Trekk
  20. You owe me a pepsi because I spit most of it out laughing at the pic and the Reverse Furry comment XD Ten out of ten, man, I'd laugh again =P ~Trexxen
  21. You're Gonna Go Far Kid - The Offspring Aqualung - Jethro Tull Panic Attack - Dream Theater Shackler's Revenge - Guns n' Roses The Trees - Rush Battery - Metallica Bodhisattva - Steely Dan Peace Sells - Megadeth Colony Of Birchmen - Mastodon Today - Smashing Pumpkins Anyone have a guess as to what game I have? (Hint: One of these songs has hardly anything to do with it; the rest are all in it) ~Trexxen

I don't really LIKE MSN, and I can't use it til I get my comp back, but I do HAVE one - Trexxen@gmail.com. As for my AIM, as ExoBuilder knows, it's Trexxen - and I wonder why I wasn't already on the list? =P ~Trexxen (Feel free to IM me anytime - I might start up a EB AIM chatroom!)
  23. Hmm...I guess so. Sorry Neal... Vote Neal/Norrington ~Trekk
  24. *walks around the town, stupified at the three deaths* Three? Three innocent people? *sighs, a slight sob can be heard* I may look like a tough guy, but I'm not made to handle this! Florence, you made the sweetest food of all...Lee, our resident stand up act, sad to say he won't be *sniff* standing up anymore...Tom, I always told you your drinking problem would get you killed - but why did it have to be like this? Ivan, do you have any more scotch? I will assist you in any way I can - those Baritones, we can't let them live... ~Trekk (OOC: Holy crap, three kills?!?!?!)
  25. Sure, I'm in! Can't beat free! ^.^ ~Trexxen (It's the end of the world, as we know it...)
