  1. Silly question: is it allowed for the alt build to be very similar in concept with the original, yet totally different in construction?
  2. Glad you're back! It's an outrigh chauvinistic tactic; yes, both Legends and Canon claim that the Empire was human-centric, but I don't like this idea since it came out of nowhere and doesn't make sense in context; I prefer to believe the Empire only conscripts humans in the military because they are the least sophisticated sentient species. Again, two Wookies aiding Yoda doesn't mean all the Wookies are dangerous. I think you got me wrong. I didn't claim that the Chiss should've been enslaved, I just said that the Wookies weren't as potentially dangerous as the Chiss. The Chiss weren't enslaved because they were of no interest to the Empire. The Umbarans were allies of the Separatists and sure committed many warcrimes, but it's their government that is responsible. I agree. But, to be honest, this stupid scene was added in the Special Edition and has little to do with the original (they filmed the scene with Declan Mulholland, hence why Han calls him a 'wonderful human being', but it was removed a doesn't need to be brought back). NATO are allies of the US. Alderaan is an open enemy of the Empire. Leia may be the adopted daughter of the king of Alderaan and a member of the Senate and Imperial diplomat at the same time; she's a spy sent by her adoptive father to sabotage Imperial bureaucracy from the inside, that's why Vader calls her a traitor. These are just my speculations, but I can explain them. Vader was questioning someone who might have known the location of the plans (btw, many people ask why he didn't Force choke Antilles; he didn't CHOKE him, he only lifted him to frighten the guy, got mad and snapped his neck accidentally - his bad). He didn't know anything for sure, but had strong and based suspicions. Also, Vader isn't all-powerful against the Rebels: I partially believe the scene from Rogue one because the corridor gave him advantage (I still think that it MUST be impossible for the Jedi or Sith to lift people in the air, sine Darth Vader's sacrifice in ROTJ makes no sense if they can). If facing enemies on the battlefield, Darth Vader would've been overwhelmed by their forces and lost, IMHO. For wasting time and a TIE shuttle instead of calling Vader through hologram or Skype and continuing the search without leaving his ship or crew. I am sure that if Needa had done that, Vader would've forgiven him for losing the Falcon. I am glad that you appreciate the OT; for me, the three original films are the definitive Star Wars and the only SW media I consider Canon; anything else is a source of inspiration, for they contradict the OT in many ways.
  3. I am glad that it was helpful - after all, that's the entire point of posting Lego builds. Thanks! The Mnggal-Mnggal is not too mysterious - as far as I know, it's an RPG element that wasn't much explored in Star Wars, but is considered by some the most horrifying concept of the SW universe, being compared to something from a creepypasta. I imagined Thrawn having learnt and memorised the location of Mugg Fallow because of his hope to have a fleet strong enough to destroy it someday... One of the reasons why he joined the Empire
  4. *Your entry has earned 15 XP + 2 bonus for a total of 17 XP (S:5, T:5, A:5) - That sick deranged bastard, - captain Moden Canady uttered upon seeing the captive Ssi-ruuk priest, whom captain Enoch brought on the Peremptory's bridge. The Galactic Empire was generally not fond of any religion, but the Ssi-ruuvi cult ultimately disgusted the Imperials, who served alongside Thrawn in the Unknown Regions, justifying the infamous entechment process with divine will: none of the non-Ssi-ruuk sentient species deserve having an immortal soul, which therefore must be taken away and used for the good of the Imperium. Vice Admiral Karyn Faro wondered how could the Grand Admiral possibly retain his cool while speaking to the henious creature. Thrawn nodded, and Enoch took the cult leader away. - At least, we managed to thwart their invasion, - Faro told Canady. - They wouldn't have invaded our borders, hadn't the Rebels destroyed our battle stations - both of them - Canady answered grimly. The captain was well known for his pessimistic worldview, and recent events didn't help. - Captain, - Thrawn said calmly, - please report galactic news. Did you find anything interesting? - Apart from the numerous 'emperors' and 'reforms' of the New Republic... - ... - Forgive me, sir, apart from the Rebellion's activities, Vonreg's niece is planning a grand assembly of the Remnants' leaders, hoping to unite their efforts to restore the Empire in its former glory... - Ah, Baron Vonreg... I remember him: art collector. Sincerely believes in his right to own precious works of art personally and not share them with the people... - With all due respect, sir, - Faro interrupted, - aren't you an art collector, Admiral? Canady coughed. - With all my respect, Admiral, - Thrawn answered coolly, - please allow me to remind you of the words you spoke to me three years ago: "Why do you collect copies and reprints of famous artworks? They are not genuine. This makes no sense." - I am sorry, sir, - Faro said quickly, - now I see your point... - You shall tell me the rest of the news later, Captain, - Thrawn said, - and please tell Gallius Rax to attend the meeting and find out as much information on the warlords as possible. - ...Rax? We barely ever contacted this guy since his rise on Pavo Prime - Faro said, feeling that Thrawn trusts Canady with some secrets. - Rax may be unwilling to attend the meeting without our kind advice, - Thrawn explained. - I see, sir. - Good. Admiral, please give me status report on the fleet. - The remaining fleet is fully operational and fully at your command, Admiral - Faro replied. - Good, - Thrawn repeated, - please order all the remaining Star Destroyers to prepare to jump into hyperspace at my command. I had already sent them the coordinates. - So, we're doing this? - an excited Canady said, - your childhood dream, sir? - Quite exactly, - Thrawn answered with a creepy half-smile. Faro's fears kept growing, as did her dislike for the Captain. - Yes, sir. May I learn a little more about this, Admiral? - she asked. - If you insist, Admiral Faro. You must be aware of the presence of Mnggal-Mnggal in the Unknown Regions, are you? A shiver ran down Faro's spine. - ...Yes, sir. I read the Unknown Regions handbook and know everything on this monstrosity... - You can't, - Thrawn cut her calmly, - only the Chiss have the most comprehensive knowledge on the subject, as well as of the location of its world of origin, known as Mugg Fallow... - Are we going to this planet, sir?! - ...As a child, - Thrawn, ignoring Faro, I was very impressed with with the abilities of the Mnggal-Mnggal. I dreamt of having a fleet of mighty artillery starships and annihilating the root of the gray evil. Dreams are coming true, Admiral Faro... - You are willing to sacrifice us Imperials in your quest to destroy the planet, where this cosmic horror came from!? - Faro said daringly. - If course not. I calculated the risks and planned the operation carefully; the losses must be minimal. But, what is most important, I already discussed the matter with the commanders and crews of our Star Destroyers; they are aware of the dangers and willing to participate, recognising the threat that Mnggal-Mnggal poses. - That's true, - Canady added, - our crew also volunteered to the mission. We were told about the risks. - I am the commander of the Peremptory, Admiral! Why didn't you tell me? - Because you are the only fleet commander who would have been against my plan, - Thrawn answered blatantly, - but now it's your 'power of one' against our 'power of many'... - This operation shall not stop the spread of Mnggal-Mnggal across the Galaxy, Admiral?.. - Perhaps. But it shall be minimised. To destroy Mugg Fallow, we shall have to destroy the 'ghost' ships around it first - and those 'ghost' ships are responsible for spreading Mnggal-Mnggal on other planets... Not to mention that its destruction on the planet shall significantly decrease its influence. The more it spreads, the stronger it becomes... Stronger and smarter. If most of its mind is located somewhere in one place, Mugg Fallow is the obvios choice. - Well then... Considering everything you just told me, I think I agree... The losses will be minimal, you say? - They shall be much less than the acceptable level and may actually be fully avoided, if my plan is perfectly executed. - Alright... Then I agree to join your quest, Admiral. - You shall not be disappointed, Admiral Faro... It is going to be worth our efforts. / To be continued...
  5. This limousine speeder is something... Looks fun! Let's see how it's going to turn out...
  6. I meant that they should be new, built exclusively for the Mysteries challenge, not posted anywhere before. But I know those rules aren't too strict to follow, nevertheless, I shall try to build mostly new entries
  7. Thank you so much, @Sentinel_Brix! But honestly, I am now quite disappointed with the dual-molded arms. I now think that black arms with white decor would've been better. As a background build, probably... Entries for the Mysteries contest should be new builds, right?
  8. The front wheels' and windows' design were so much better on the previous version! This forum deserves a better class of Lego set (or not?)
  9. Thank you very much! Yes, you're absolutely right - the trooper's upper half is held in position thanks to him holding the controls. I totally agree that the L plates are not the best choice. I think smooth L tiles would've been better, but I cannot replace as of now If I ever improve my MOC, I shall post it here!
  10. The speeder bike from Star Wars Episode 6: Return of the Jedi needs no special introduction. The dual-molded arms are a must for the Scout Trooper minifigure.
  11. I understand your unsatisfaction with those Brickheadz, but they look quite nice actually. This reminds me of an idea I had - I wanted to build 'action figures' of TNBA characters, but I don't have enough parts for that, and I already made lots of custom minifigures, so...
  12. I am fully aware that my ancestors are 'worse than the Nazis' because they DARED! to fight their freedom against white civilized Europeans who only wanted to share their sacred democracy with them, but, hey, I don't think it's a good subject to discuss in even an Aslymic DC thread. Even the inmates of r/batmanarkham don't discuss such things Mods are welcome to ban me whenever they like. They banned Turtle (whom I don't like at all) for criticising the woke. Guess it's my turn now...
  13. It's exactly what I was talking about. Thanks for the understanding
  14. Is there really any 'no' to talking politics here? Looks like hypocrisy for me
  15. The mainstream Batman was never a nice guy who only wants to help. He always kept his (psychological) distance, even when he tried to help a villain. And he never was a wimp, easily beaten by thugs while trying to reason Harvey Dent in a kindly Superman fashion (though this applies only to "Two-Face, pt. 2", yet it looked so cringe!). B:TAS Batman may have been fear-inspiring as some degree, but he was, in my opinion, much too nice and much too lawful, while still grimmer and more intimidating than the 1966 version. That's just my opinion, but it's not based on nothing
  16. B:TAS Batman is actually one of the least fear-inspiring versions of the character. While TNBA Batman is more lore-accurate, the B:TAS version resembles Superman even more than Supes himself in S:TAS, which I always found weird. "Harvey! Let me help you!" The real Batman would've said something like In my opinion, Batman should never be such a nice guy
  17. Thanks! I am glad you do
  18. If I am correct, the Italian word for 'hope' is 'speranza', which starts with an S.
  19. That's a very cute little galleon! Looks so beautiful. I like it a lot
  20. Good, thanks for clarifying! Still weird though... Even Bruce Wayne didn't capitalise the Batman merch in B:TAS (then again, maybe because he's SUPER RICH!!! KIND OF MAKES IT BETTER!..) Hope starts with an H
  21. How can you be Spider-Man and own any sort of vehicle?! ...This also applies to the first Spider-Verse movie, where he had an entire Spider-Cave under his house!! I mean, where did he get the money to construct it?! Is he goddamn Batman, is he rich or is he stupid?!
  22. I hate to be different, but for some time I've been thinking about acqiring the 2021 minifigure and giving it a paper coat and painting hair olive green, which would be my perfect custom minifigure. The new Joker doesn't work for me
  23. Agreed. In fact, it's how I imagined it from the very beginning. It makes most sense. Especially if it's based on B:TAS
  24. If only they were. Wookies weren't primitive by any means, but they weren't as developed, militarictic and nationalistic as said Chiss or the Umbarans from CW, for example. Plus, why enslave the Wookies specifically? The Empire from the EU always acted like they were trying to create themselves as many enemies across the Galaxy as possible, without any reason at all. It doesn't work that way. Lucas tried to justify this by showing the Wookies aiding Yoda's escape, but enslaving them all for an act, commited by two persons, looks hypocritical since the Wookies weren't the only ones helping the Jedi by any means. My perfect version of ANH would've been the original movie from 1977 with the following changes: 1) Ben and Luke's dialogue at the former's house chronologicallt altered to match its original order of lines: they watch Leia's message first, Luke asks Ben about the CW, doesn't believe that his father fought and wishes he knew him. Ben tells Luke about his father, gives him Anakin's lightsaber, they discuss Vader and the Force; Ben invites Luke to come with him to Alderaan. 2)Added scene at Rebel hangar where Luke meets Biggs Darklighter and Garven Dreis tells him that he met Luke's father once when he was a kid 3)All bloopers removed Han fell in love with Leia. He started questioning his own actions after she called him a mercenary. Not the best thing ever, but not flatty flat either. Most SW posts on the Internet are about Prequels; when people think about Obi-Wan, they imagine Ewan McGregor instead of sir Alec Guinness; almost all the memes are Prequel; the OT is often viewed through the prism of the Prequels. I also prefer the OT, but it's just me; besides, I really enjoy Prequel memes! She doesn't. The most dangerous lies are those that have a bit of truth. Leia doesn't lie when she claims being on a diplomatic mission to Alderaan (which, BTW, means that Alderaan isn't part of the Empire), but understandably denies having secred the Death Star plans. Leia's claim that Alderaan is peaceful and has no weapons is a blatant lie made canon - in this universe, everyone has weapons, and Alderaan is almost openly aiding the Rebellion, which makes it a foregin enemy of the Empire and, therefore, not peaceful at all. Vader didn't torture anyone for the fun of it. Antilles knew where the plans were hidden; Han Solo was tortured to influence Luke through the Force (it worked!); HE DIDN'T ORDER the crew killed, he just wanted to hide the fact of taking prisoners from the Senate; Motti utterly deserved the non-lethal choking, Ozzel was a fool at best and outrigh traitor at worst; Needa was an idiot who wasted time and an entire TIE shuttle to apologize right in front of Vader (and assume full responsibility!) instead of calling him and making an excuse, asking permission to continue the search. Vader was very calm and tame in the OT compared to the rest of SW, never resorting to needless violence like butchering innocent children. Hell, he didn't even butcher the Rebels... I am pretty sure that the OT and Prequels are separate continuities, much like BTAS and TNBA
