  1. I was admiring this when I saw it blogged on TBB, I'm glad it was built by an EB member! Really awesome work here, the details are superb and I really like the derelict but not overly rubble-strewn look of the place. The lighting and overall presentation is commendable, certainly not something you see done with Lego everyday. Thanks for sharing it here with us.
  2. I'm not sure what you're trying to say; are you implying Big Cam is a Grand Dork? What horrible thing to say!
  3. Welcome to EB Toye, great to see another NZer getting back into the hobby. You should go introduce yourself in the Hello My Name Is... forum. It's a great ship and well worth the money (although even better when you can get it on sale! ). As you're into city sets as well I can highly recommend the modular buildings line, which are all fun and intricate builds.
  4. Well, we all knew it had to happen eventually. I wish I could say I had this many Spartans, but unfortunately only Lee Jones on MOCpages can claim that honour at the moment. Here he has 301 Spartans in his envy-inducing photo of King Leonidas and his 300 soldiers. Considering how hard these little dudes are to find, this is a very dedicated effort, and I bet he spent a pretty penny or two to get them all!
  5. I think that is a result of the EB mafia mentality that it is a sin to vote wrong. Traditionally, people vote all over the place and make random accusations such as "I vote this guy because his hair looks funny" etc. Also, many online Mafia games are done on a much shorter cycle, say 24 hours for each day and 24 hours for each night, and often without the need for a majority. This style of game has its benefits, but it also has its negatives as well, and the same goes for the popular EB version of the Mafia game. As you can see, there are many options for variation in the mechanics that still result in fantastic games. This is why I'm quite happy to let a host experiment and try different versions of the mechanics, and I think Sandy's most recent game is an example of how this works very well. But we need to make sure we don't get stuck in that one style, of course. I think a couple of the upcoming games will have you all confused and begging to know what the hell is going on. Personally I like to see a mixture of games, some with complex night actions like Hogwarts Mafia, and some with a much greater focus on the voting process. It's important to have unique game mechanics for every game, as it is more enjoyable to play something new ad challenging than to repeat the same thing over and over again. Although it is nice to return to those classic EB favourites once in a while. *whistles* Exactly Sandy, which is one reason why this topic is a little unnecessary, but it does create some interesting discussion so that is good. I agree completely def, players need to trust that the host is always right, and that what they do is for a reason. It may turn out they made a mistake somewhere along the line, but we're all human, so just take it in your stride and enjoy the game.
  6. I cannot agree more def, it is nice to have a change occasionally, but we have to remember that the primary part of a Mafia game is the voting; night actions are just added flavour. If it was all about the night actions, with little focus on the voting, then it wouldn't be a Mafia game. It all comes down to game balance really, something I consider to be extremely important; with too many night actions, the actual voting process becomes arbitrary as more progress can be made during the night. Standard live action Mafia games would normally just have a cop (investigator), a doctor (protector), and the Mafia as the basic night action roles, and that is it. I think it's great to have variation in the night actions as it gives us something fresh and new every game, something unexpected, but again I must stress how important the actual voting is to the game. Vanilla townies are the most important players in the game, as it is them who decide the majority votes and can make the difference between winning and losing during the voting. I am of course always open to variations in the game mechanics too, we've seen several examples of how this has been done successfully on EB. I really enjoy the EB version of Mafia, it has some unique mechanics and concepts that work well in our community. And, it is ever evolving; just look back to some of the first games and you can see how far we've come already.
  7. What makes you say that buddy, got something to hide? Well, we can discuss it tomorrow, time for bed now.
  8. Only a true Mafioso would send messages with bloody pasta... Well, we've got a damn conviction, for better or for worse now, so let's sit tight and hope for the best. Tomorrow should be an interesting day.
  9. Well well well, another scumbag in my police force is it? I won't have any of it! Bloody wretched bastards. This is an embarrassment to the institution, I have a right mind to throw you on the fire myself for your insubordination Eric. I won't have filth on my force, you hear me!? Deputy, take his badge, and find me another bottle, it's lynching time! I'm quite happy to go with the crowd on this one, what has been said makes sense, and I'm a man who believes in sense. Vote: Erik King (kingofthezempk) And on that note I'll be accepting applications for raw recruits early next week once this whole flaming crisis is cleaned up; we can't have order without a god damn police force! I was probably drunk and thought somebody with a stutter would be hilarious fun, I can't see how else he would have made it into my force.
  10. Well you better practice a bit more my lad because I don't think this town can stand much more of it!! Not without some fire in the belly, anyway. Deputy! More liquor!
  11. Unfortunately nothing that I know of other than what we have all seen reported this morning; that bloody bastard hid himself very well. We'll get the fool though, whoever it is is bound to slip up somewhere, and then we strike! We did it with Carrie, and we'll do it again ladies; these blasted scum have obviously underestimated the combined talents of our townsfolk. Sounds like a damn fine cure to me! How he ever made it into my force I would love to know... An interesting analysis Ian, what do you have to say for yourself Eric? Are you a scummy mafioso trying to hide in my force by putting on this foolish stutter? Huh? Try to speak clearly boy, I'm not going to stop the lynch mob if they come for you. Although I'll probably need to start doing some recruiting... I can toast to that.
  12. Damn! What a disaster, at least you can rebuild though, that's the good thing about our hobby. This topic has got me thinking that I could do with an extra shelf, but I'm wondering if it is worth tempting fate.
  13. Hell yes, first conviction result to the town, baby! I'm glad we killed that scummy harlot, imagine betraying the force to whore it out for the mobsters, what a disgrace!! They played right into our hands on that one, but something makes me think the rest of the bastards will be more careful from now on, so we're really going to have to work hard to catch the filthy scum. Anybody got some clear ideas around what happened last night, 'cause all those black figures have my head reeling. I need a drink... deputy!! Wouldn't have a damn clue, but definitely worth keeping an eye on those two I should say if that's what the strumpet said.
  14. My lifestyle is simply glamorous! Thanks dear, I sure am the most stunningly pure and fabulous element you will ever see. You're such a flirt, but I just don't think we are destined to form a strong bond with one another. Precisely, do you know how frustrating it is trying to pose for my fans when I'm stretched out all thin like that? Although it sure does show me off to my fullest.
  15. 196.97 - The number of souls I have stashed in the attic.
  16. Bah, who wants to mess with that sort of squishy rubbish anyway?
  17. What did you call me!!? At least I'm not a collection of inferior elements who have to gang up just to look half decent! Molecules these days, thinking they're better than the rest of us...
  18. Seems someone is envious of my brilliant gleam, but I get that a lot, as obviously nobody is more stunningly lustrous than I.
  19. Good day everyone! I know you just can't get enough of me, fabulous as I am, but I really do try not to spread myself too thinly, so you'll just have to be thankful for a small amount of my time, I'm in high demand you know. I'm not sure what's going on here but you all look rather dull, certainly I would appreciate a more conductive conversation, although I'm more likely to have that with myself than the rest of you lot, you all react far too much. Well, my stocks just rose and I have some buyers to appeal to, so I'll be running along now. Not like any of you lot could afford my type anyway.
  20. Bloody hell!! You really want to touch a scummy witch like that!?
  21. It's an old and well used EB Mafia reference, relating to this scene from the original Mystery Castle. Mafia was a bit rough and ramshackle back then, but we sure had some good laughs.
  22. I think right now would be a bloody good time, not like we're doing much else! Do you know how many years I've had to put up with his drawn-out blathering? Do you!? I sure don't, but it feels like flaming decades!
  23. Sounds like a flaming fine idea to me! Th addition of alcohol always makes for a more involved witch burning experience.
  24. Don't! Wait till after the game has finished to be discussing game mechanics outside the game threads please. Burn it! Burn the witch! *throws another potato for old times sake*
  25. I would have expected an officer of my force to have a bit more god damn fight in here, even if you are a sneaky scummy bastard. Show a bit of backbone woman!
