L7 Dragons Keep Lord Dragonator was still standing at the window when Grim entered, looking particularly grim. Not good news my lord, we encountered some... problems. Dragonator turned quickly from the window. What did you say? Don't speak in riddles, today of all days. The king is dead. Damn. Yes, damn indeed. It appears that in his madness he accidentally hung himself down in the dungeons where he was being held. How can someone accidentally hang themselves? He was in the Old Dungeon. Oh, that explains it. Even a sane man would hang themselves down there. Those dungeons are a reminder of this castles unfortunate history. Dragonator turns back to the window, thinking. I guess that however tragic this event is, it does come at a good time. My Lord? The world is beset by a terrible evil. I fear that this invasion that we have thwarted is only the beginning. This kingdom would never have survived under his rule. We need strong leaders now, although even that may not be enough to protect us from what I fear is coming. Only the dragons can truly do that. Was that all then? There is one other matter my Lord... Ah yes, what is it? Come on, spit it out. The case of... the successor... Ah yes, that is a delicate matter. The king had no children, and the next closest to the throne is Princess Ariana, who cannot rule the kingdom because of law. This could lead to a fight amongst the Houses to see who becomes the next king. I don't want to see another civil war like that of last century. You saw that? Um, no, why, do I look that old? No but... oh never mind. There is something else you should know. Continue. The king has, ah, that is, in his final wishes he... Get on with it please. He named you his successor. What!? Dragonator choked on the olive he had been slowly chewing a semt it flying across the room with a small burst of smoke. That was really weird... I can't be the king! Why not your majesty? Don't call me that! This could be terrible for the kingdom! Dragonator sank slowly onto a nearby chair. Then again, it could be a turn in fate that could see this kingdom survive the coming war. Dragonator sat for a moment, thinking. Which of the Houses are the most likely to oppose this succession? Well your maj- that is, my Lord, the two most powerful Houses right now are House Coliranth and House Dormon. Hmmm, House Dormon could give me some difficulty. Lord Rotrigous is the head of that House, and he has always opposed me on the council. However with a strong hand I think this could pull through. House Coliranth should be no problem, they know where their best interests lie. As long as their trade does not suffer to badly, they will not care to much either way. Dragonator stood from his chair, shaking his head. Right, it looks like it is time to take action. I will go view the war prisoners with a small guard, and then I must decide how to be rid of them. The money that Ankoria will pay to us for the return of their brave men should also help to secure my position in the eyes of many of the minor Houses. If need be I can always put some money in from my own coffers. In the meantime, I want you to do some information gathering. The main court will return from the north within a few days; when they do, you will be very busy. It was a bad move for the king to send the court on to the summer residence without himself and the council to watch over them. They have had an entire session to get out of hand. I want you to visit the heads of each of the major Houses, and pay special attention to those with strong Alliances, even if it is with minor Houses. You have been in my service long enough to understand the political currents here. I need to know what has been happening while I've been stuck down here with the king. Also explain what has happened over the long summer, and try and get an idea of where each house stands. I am trusting you, Grim. You can count on me my Lord. Have I ever let you down yet? Not too badly no. Now, I'd better be going. Can you find Majiko and send him down too, I need a word with him. I'll be preparing to leave from the entrance courtyard. The pair left the throne room, Grim heading off deeper into the keep to prepare for his duties and find Majiko, and Lord Dragonator to the entrance courtyard. In the throne room, a shadow slipped out from a hidden stairwell behind a large tapestry depicting a scene from the Battle of Klümgeur. Slowly, it crept across the room...

To right I am. Th at is punishable by death. :skull: Oh wait, I forgot. He's already dead. Your ancestors shall be eternally cursed. Right, that's better. Now, the game master wants to stick his nose in again and clarify something. Sorry to bother you all. Please don't hurt me. Right, I just wanted to clarify that the majority is indeed 8 for the voting. Current voting is as follws: iamded (General Spencer): 5 Majiko: 100,000,000 Hey! Sorry, but the expression on your face was priceless. Grrr Right, I'll shut my face now and let you get on with the game...
-
What, I can talk now? Nobody's going to get angry? Lord Dragnator slips out from behind a statue. Ah, yes, well, I wasn't hiding anyway. From what I can see, the voting looks like this: Batbrick (General Marcus): 2 These from Hinckley and Quarryman. You have a good point lieutenant, you can never trust anyone, especially Lord Dragonator. What? Why me? Because you've been telling some very naughty lies recently. I have not! That you could even say such a thing is an insult! I speak only truth! Mostly, anyway... Your the one that's been lying! Have not! Have too! Have not!! Have too!! Hav- Cut it out both of you, be fore I eat you both. He started it.

Gah, he bet me to the post! Ah well, I'll go have a good read, mine are still on their way... EDIT: Am I rude or what! Forgetting to say thank you, very silly of me. Thanks SW4J for the review, it is great!
-
Wrong, just so badly wrong. Right, I must make a quick game-moderator note. Stop moaning! Could you please not edit your posts? Yes that's you Zepher and AgentRick57. It is against the rules, for whatever reason. Don't let me see it happen again. Right, there must be another reason I decided to say something? Oh no, that was me. Oh, well, er, go right ahead then. Excellent. Firstly, my rooms are out of bounds. If I see anyone near them, I'll put Ragnir onto them. Here here! And I do not turn into a monster! Really? Well, not a Democratic campaign monster anyway. Maybe that other ghastly one, but I haven't done that in years. Not since that peasant splattered mud all over your brand new cape. Those were the good times. Can we start talking about something proper now? These people are getting far to off topic as it is without you and I starting it. Good point. Ragnir would like to inform you about the building challenge. I sure do! As you all may know, I am running the official Mystery Castle Building Challenge! The entries thread is now up, and if you want to discuss anything, have any questions, or just want to check the rules, then please do that here. You've all got around 10 days, so plenty f time to get in a great entry. So, think of something funny, or serious, whatever you wish, and get building! I look forward to seeing your entries! Thanks Ragnir. Now, on with the game, and don't talk to me, 'cause I don't exist.

Right everyone, my appologies. I will try my best not to put to much input into the game other than what I need to, ie, random chatter and the occasional hint. Of course, it is a little difficult for me to not try to clarify things when I keep being asked questions. Dragonator, can we change our clothes? Dragonator, will you kill this person for me? Dragonator, can I go to the bathroom? It's so aggravating! I leave subtle hints, and yet most of them normally get ignored. So what is the point I ask you? Then I get asked some silly question which I try not to give to much away when replying, and the people jump on me for giving them 'easy facts' instead of clues. God you people are frustrating sometimes! Remember that in the initial game rules I said: Of course, this was adapted slightly to involve Lord Dragonator and Ragnir, for comical purposes. Basically, sometimes I will give you misleading information, and other times it will be the truth. It is up to you to figure out what means what. If I didn't give any clues whatsoever, then you would all probably still be sitting around chatting about the weather and this would be a very boring game indeed. Now, let us look at this one point and then drop the whole thing. I think Majiko has something for you to think on. You mean I'm allowed to say something? Well yes, it is in the initial rules that you will sit there and give clues, as well as try and give people away. So they can't complain. Right, but who says that what I say is true? Exactly. Right, well I have this for you all to think on. If you were a killer, would you walk openly in the corridors and kill the person in plain sight, or would you try to make it look like someone else did it? Is that all? Yeah, I thought I'd leave them with that to think on, so they can draw their own conclusions. That way they can't say I gave anything away. Right, good. I think these people are a bit touchy today, probably from all the drink yesterday. So lets try and keep a little quieter than usual. OK, I suppose so. That goes for you too Lord Dragonator. Fine. I will take your feedback to heart people. In future games, and in this one, I will try to lessen my involvement and instead focus on providing small clues and subtle nudges. I hope my actions have not put you off the game to much however, and if you think I'm a lousy host, then I would be happy to hand over the game to someone else, or terminate it all together. I just wanted this to be a fun experience for everybody... EDIT: Right, I'm going back to game master mode. This discussion has got far to off-topic. Hypocrite you say? Tough, get over it. Let us please return to what really matters; who killed the king? Or had you forgotten? See if you can discover what really happened people...

I think I upset someone... You think? Your in for it now buddy, and really, I don't know you. What? If I go down, you go down! Good point, now go apologise before he does something horrible to us. I never did like these dungeons, and that Chamber right at the bottom with all the rats is horrible. All right, all right! Sorry Hinckley. From what you said in your post it looked like you had confused when you made your action, and it sounded like you were accusing me of not taking everyone's actions seriously. Therefore, I thought it best to make sure everyone understood that all night actions are taken into consideration, and it is not I that decides the fates of various people, but instead the actions of the other players. I just didn't want anyone getting annoyed at me by thinking that I had purposely ignored your action and let WhiteFang be killed; that is not my job here. Well he certainly seems annoyed. I know. Now Mr. Hinckley, he's crying now. Look at the poor wretch. Hey! He is in no fit state to keep this game running smoothly now. You must remember that his comments re designed to make you think and to give clues to help you solve the game. Of course, some of what is said (especially by that bloody magician) is often misleading. Now, I personally think some of what you have said is a little unfair on our good host. Oh please don't blow it and piss him off any more. I can't handle the stress! I won't. Now, from what you said, you sounded annoyed that your action had not been considered. Our host tried to fix this by explaining that you made no action, and that actions are in fact always referred to when writing the story. Perhaps if you thought a bit more about what you said this would not have happened. From what you said, you were not using tactics at all but were instead wondering why your action had not been taken into consideration. The only reason I can see that you would be annoyed by this very minor input would be if you were trying to protect Marcus from the vote, in which case I am sure the host would have said nothing. However since you in fact voted for him, this should not matter in the slightest anyway. Now, you also say that this has given away the killer, by stating that he was not in fact being blocked by you. However this is not at all true. All the other players are also not being blocked by you, leaving any number of suspects. You may also notice I have refused to state whether there is a determined rule on changing people's clothes, which allows you to draw your own conclusions. Clearly only someone who has already made up their mind would see it your way. Despite what you may think, there is as yet no solid evidence that Marcus can kill at night anyway. This is simply your own assumption. Therefore it is not I who has dug him a hole, but you. You will also notice that I did not in fact confirm that you whacked him on night 3. The host merely asked if you were refering to a perhaps previous action. The reference was made because you had already admitted to hitting Marcus that night. Now don't get me wrong, but I think that a lot of what you just said has not helped you at all. The host was very subtle in what he said, you have simply drawn your own conclusions and responded with them. That is of course fine, as that is what this game is about, however the host does not appear to be taking nicely to your accusations of foul play against him. I want my mummy! Pathetic. Anyway, let us continue with the game and pretend that everything is all fine. From what I can see, I think both you and the host are in the wrong, and should get over yourselves and get on with the game. This is supposed to just be some light-hearted fun after all. I hope you didn't just go over the top, I've only ever seen a dragon look that red and snort that much smoke. Hmm yes, perhaps that little chamber is starting to look cosier already... Right well, I forgive you Hinckley, and I hope you forgive me too. Can we be friends now please? Majiko wanders into the hall from outside. Hey everyone, are we all having fun? I certainly hope so! Everyone stares at him. What, did I miss something? Edit by Hinckley: Shut your mouth already. Edit by Dragonator: Never!!
-
Glad I could be of some use. You really do chose the worst moments to open your trap don't you? I beg your pardon? I thought... oh actually I can't remember what I thought. Sometimes I wonder why it wasn't you that was killed first instead of the king. I can see more motives amongst these people for your death than for anyone else's. Do you think I should tone it down a bit then? Yes! I thought so too, this blue is quite bright. Perhaps I should try a different colour? Gahh!!!
-
No no, I think you are mistaken, you did no such thing. Last night you slept like a log and did nothing. Perhaps you are thinking of night 3 when you smacked him in the head? Your actions are never ignored people, there is no bias in what happens at night. Haha, that's funny. What's funny? You just said there was no bias at night and, and... oh. That wasn't supposed to be a joke was it? No. I'll just stop talking to the imaginary voice and will instead go chat with someone else then...

Well IS, looks like Adym answered your question. Portraits of the players court are usually found in the west gallery, overlooking the banquet hall. Hope that helps. I don't know what you do with your clothes! Do I look like a laundress to you? Don't answer that Rotrigous! Hey calm it Dragonbreath, I think he just wants to find the murderer. Don't call me that! Rotrigous is bad enough without you starting. *pause* It's not that noticeable is it? I knew I should have found a mint this morning... No not too bad, I just wanted to get your attention. Right, lets never mention this conversation again. Right you are your Dragonship. That''s a little better, I guess.

Thanks for the birthday wish, and I hope you are feeling better now. General update, Day 5 has started and also the entries thread for the building challenge is now up. Lets see some of those entries! Remember, the closing date is the end of day 6 (around 11 days from now). Hope you are all enjoying yourselves! -
The things that go on in this castle! Scandal! Who the hell is Ernst! Looks like that one backfired on you. To clarify, I think Majico was talking about Ernest the chef, not Earnest nor Ernst. By the way, lets name the Unknown Artist Ernst, just to further confuse things and so IS has a constant reminder of his slip up. (Hopefully everyone has by know forgotten that it was my initial slip up that triggered this weird conversation. That seems to happen a lot. ) Oh, I have something to say! Here we go again. Firstly yes, I meant Ernest. Good, now be quite. Secondly, I found this very interesting note: Not very poetic, but it gets the point across nicely. You just made that up right now didn't you. No, I wrote it a few minutes ago actually. Typical.

Right, I spent far to much over the weekend, and now I need to find some more money to save up for the new SW sets and all the other great ones coming out later in the year. I went out to K-Mart and found my beloved AT-AT. In the end, I bought not one, but two! Talk about over spending. They were 20% off however, so not all was lost. I also bought another Dwarves Mine, as that is such an awesome set! Now I need to build them, and find the space to display them...
-
The clues are there before you, use them as you will... Now, I can see that you are all a little distressed, so I didn't cook breakfast this morning, we got Jamie Oliver in to to that from the show running next door. However, I would be happy to cook lunch. The food was brought out and the people dug in. It was probably the best breakfast they had had since Earnest committed suicide.

Mystery Castle - Building Challenge Discussion
Dragonator replied to Dragonator's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
There's your answer. Now quick, go hide before Ragnir realises you asked a silly question. Basically with the overhang, it is fine to have some legs or plants or some small amount of brickwork sticking over the edge (as long as it is no more than half a stud, eg. a snot tile that sticks out slightly from the wall) however there is to be no major structural overhang, that is try and keep everything building-wise within the 8x8 plate. I'm sure whatever you build will be fine, I'll tell you if it is a huge breach of the rules. -
Hello again, players of the Mystery Castle game! As you know, I, Ragnir the Mighty, have set up this mini-challenge for you, the players. In this thread you may post your entries. Please note that this is for entries only, all discussion is to take place in the discussion thread. The rules can also be found here. Not much else to say, so have fun, and I look forward to those entries!

IMPORTANT: If you are not a participant in the game, then please do not post in the game. These threads are reserved for players only. It was only mid-morning when the people of the keep made up their minds. Calvin the fisherman, employed investigator of Lord Ash the traitor, was taken down into the dungeons to be dealt with out of site and out of mind. He was not high enough in stature to be accorded a public hanging, but instead met his death down in the little used torture chambers, relics of a not-so-long-ago past. His death was swift and decisive, a single chop to the neck by the executioners axe. Calvin's meagre belongings were searched, and a document was found near the bottom. After someone who could read was found, it was discovered that Calvin was indeed a Mercenary, working under Lord Ash. He was neither a traitor nor a loyalist, but instead a free-lance man with only the wishes of his payee to consider. Despite not being a traitor, the people of the keep celebrated at his death, seeing it as one step closer to solving the dreaded mystery. Another reason for the celebrations was that it was Lord Dragonator's birthday. A huge cake was baked, not by Majiko, and the festivities lasted well into the night. With all the drink everyone consumed, nobody had a clear recollection of what had happened after mid-morning, other than that Ragnir had issued a challenge to the people. They all retired to their beds that night feeling particularly pleased with their days effort. Not everyone went to their own beds however. Rotrigous accompanied Mary the maid back to her rooms, just to make sure she was all right. Come, you can hardly stand; let me help you into bed. Oh but sir, I tell you I am alright. Still, I see it as my duty to help a woman when she needs it. Let us go inside. Well, if you insist. Oh I do. The couple hurried inside, giggling as they went. Unbeknown to them however, someone was watching... It was Grim, head of the royal guard. He was following Rotrigous, because he felt in his gut that someone might try to kill the advisor that night. Grim approached the door, just to have a peak at what was happening inside. Unbeknown to him however, someone was watching... Grim drew in a sharp breath, and tried to avert his eyes. However the scene was to gripping, and he could not tear his gaze away. Oh Rotrigous, it's so big! I know, I'm quite proud of it. Can I touch it? Why certainly dear, go ahead. I never knew they made swords so big! Oh, I thought you meant- At that moment, Grim heard a noise behind him. He turned just in time to see a javelin heading towards him. Helpless to stop it, Grim screamed as it drove into his flesh. At the sound, Mary and Rotrigous rushed outside, and stumbled upon the recently deceased Grim. Muffling a scream, Mary starred in horror. It was a dastardly deed that this person had committed. Unfortunately, there was no site of him (or her). Mary looked down the hallway but saw nobody. That morning, it was a solemn group that met in the Grand Hall. One by one they were dying, and still the mystery was left unsolved. Who were the traitors? That was what they wanted to know. Grim, whom they had all known as WhiteFang, was found to be a loyalist. The mood from the previous day was dampened considerably. However, the people were now more determined than ever to find the traitors and put a stop to the murders... Thanks once again for choosing to play. If you have any questions, feel free to PM me. If you need to review the rules, then these can be found in the introduction thread (link in my signature). Characters: (in no particular order) Lord Dragonator (non player) Majiko the Wizard (non player) Lord Martin - deceased, condemned by vote Mike (a servant) - deceased, stabbed at night Ernest the Chef - deceased, committed suicide General Marcus Michael (a soldier in the royal guard) Lord Savril Lord Ash - deceased, condemned by vote Lord Gary Lady Suzanne Grim (head of the royal guard) - deceased, killed at night General Spencer Mary (a maid) Paul (the cellar keeper) Daniel (a young squire) - deceased, crushed by a potato cart Rotrigous (king's advisor) Calvin (a local fisherman) - deceased, condemned by vote Kyle (the castle torturer/executioner) Lieutenant Byron (of the royal guard) Friar Brown Damien (a doctor and herbalist) Fred (a soldier in the royal guard) Players: (in no particular order) 1. As a note, the building contest is open to all competitors, including those who have died. Of course, if you are dead and don't want to enter then that is fine, as Ragnir can't eat you anyway, since your dead and all... Right, on with the show, I mean game, I mean... oh I don't know what I mean... That's not unusual. Shut it!

Mystery Castle - Building Challenge Discussion
Dragonator replied to Dragonator's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Glad to hear that it's done! The entries thread will be up soon along with Day 5. Until then, contemplate on your decisions yesterday people... Well I'm glad! -
Right, today I went out and bought a couple of things, firstly the 8159 Speed Racer set with Taejo and Racer X, mainly because they are two nice cars with the new windscreen that I don't have ryet, and also for that wonderful torso with the dragon pattern on it. Next, I saw some of the new housebuilding sets, so I got one each of sets 6117 (doors and windows) and 6119 (red roof tiles). I'm sure they will be useful. Lastly, I bought the smallest Coast Guard set, as I noticed Toyworld now had some in. Set 7736 is a nice little buggy, reminiscent of the old small vehicles. I just grabbed it on the way to the counter for no particular reason. Once I got home, I finally got in my BrickForge order, now that they have srted some shipping options for New Zealand. I can't wait for the new parts to arrive. Tomorrow I'm heading out to K-Mart as they have the AT-AT in now, and I'm going to take advantage of their sale. I just hope they haven't sold out... Overall, an expensive weekend!
-
Loving those pictures, I can't wait till they show them on the shop. Well, I registered, and then was told that I no longer had an account (hmm, where did that go... *scratches head* ), so I re-registered and filled out a nice order with all the new stuff in it. All ready to do my review! Only problem is, accordingly, they can't ship to my location. I'm sure they haven't had any trouble in the past, I've been receiving my packages fine. Help me Armothe! Never mind, all sorted now, there are some options appearing. I don't like the price of he new shipping though. Oh well, the parts make up for it. I look forward to getting them! Man, I should have goon to BrickWorld, then I wouldn't have to worry about this ordering business. To bad I don't live nearby... Oh, another question, does the Arabian Helmet require the turban to be attached to a head, or can it still go on a minifig without? Right, once I've got the parts, I need to go on Bricklink and figure out how to make some Romans. Man this is an expensive hobby! But so worth it!
-
Thanks Hinckley, your pictures give a lot of insight and information about the event. What fun you must have had! I envy you all the more now, I wish I could have been there... I have enjoyed looking at all the awesome models on display, really something mind-blowing!

Happy Birthday to Alice, Dragonator & Evil Willy!
Dragonator replied to WhiteFang's topic in Community
Well, I got some book vouchers, and was treated to a very nice dinner at an expensive restaurant. But I guess you want to know in Lego terms? I haven't got it yet, but my parents have said they will buy me the Eiffel Tower when it arrives sometime this month. I can't wait! -

Excellent, very good... My evil plan is coming together... Thanks for your kind words guys, I am truly sorry to keep you waiting. Although the Captain is right, it gives you a bit of time to work on your entries! That is the, er, reason for the delay. Yes. Also, another reason for the delay is that everyone was up late grinking in celebration of their Lords birthday, so nobody can remember much past when Ragnir put forward the building challenge. Ok, I've run out of excuses now. I am however a little annoyed that I still haven't received those night actions. Very frustrating. I think some punishment is due... Thanks for your patience.
