Sorry, At this point I am thinking you are just a troll. This whataboutism is getting out of hand. * 100 times less expensive is 2 cents which is basically free. It would solve your problem. * Don't tell what authors should do if you are not one of them. You are not in the position to lead this discussion. You don't even have instructions bought from members you are pointing, right? *If you do care about technic community why you are attacking cornerstone members of this community with your nonsense? This is how the "new and large" community should start? Just to make things crystal clear, I am not an author and I buy MOCs. I have several bought from M_longer and Eric trax. I know the quality they serve for the money. I don't see any issues to SUPPORT the skilled creators. At the end of the day you normally have to pay for things which you can't do yourself (plumber, electrician, dentist, quality Lego MOCs, etc.).

42172 - McLaren P1
Oh_Hi_Mao replied to Ngoc Nguyen's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Delay would be possible if McLaren won't accept the design under their license. Which, as we see, was accepted. Judging from the video with a designer, Lego was communicating a lot with McLaren. Btw, do you own 42146? -
42172 - McLaren P1
Oh_Hi_Mao replied to Ngoc Nguyen's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I can't get past the fact that from the front it does not look like a P1. It is not easily recognisible model like the rest 1:8 models. Is it lotus? Is it corvette? I could create a poll of some random people on a street and McLaren would not be the most common answer. 5th edition of 1:8 supercar series should at least match it's predecessors in terms of looks. But it did not, in my opinion. Btw they nailed the end, it is perfect. -
42177 Mercedes G500 4X4

To be honest, front end does look a little amateur. The worst part are fenders. It is a pity that they did not used fenders from defender/Volvo hauler. Colour is a great way to re-use all space themed orange parts -
Can it be a switch box for "standard" supercar specs placard? The black bottom assembly looks too big for only rotation of the logo function. Maybe you turn the handle, placard goes down by rotational motion, P1 logo goes up and rotates about its axis while rotating the same handle on the side. Just a speculation :)

I can see it after "hey look it has HOG steering and fake engine!" cars will be officialy established as a Technic subtheme. To be honest I can't see us getting less cars because people are really buying them (conclusion is made from Technic groups in Facebook/Reddit where major part of people are sharing their Technic cars-only collections)

My wallet speaks for itselft, not a single penny were or will be spent this year on a new technic sets :) in comparison, last year I spent 500 euros for Liebherr crane and 120 euros for Airbus helicopter. So yeah, for me it is also a bad year, but it is hard to be a good one because are I am not collecting cars/bikes or non motorised sets.

Lego is still profit seeking corporation so they so are interested in customers. Design is not lazy, it is well taught and calculated. You know, I don't like new Hollywood movies and love the old ones. I think nowadays Hollywood became lazy and cheap. But the new movies are still breaking the box office records. Which means regardless of my taste business model is doing just fine. It is Hollywood which is adapting to the market because they care about the profits. So either I downgrade my standards or I can start looking for movies elsewhere (f.e. foreign countries).
