  1. The final battle draws near... Are you ready for the storm?

    1. Dannylonglegs

      Dannylonglegs

Is it gunna Rain on our Parade?

  2. Hey, you guys deserved that Double EXP after that battle. "Please and thank you. The Suffering plastered me across the wall once before, I cannot imagine what Eidolon will try." As if on cue, The Suffering draws in a labored breath, and exhales it as low chuckling. "Heh heh... Hide behind a god alll you like, we shall see who proves superior while on the battlefield. Eidolon is expecting you, heores... and you don't keep an emperor waiting! The Regret? You seek audience with him? He may be my boss, but as far as everyone is concerned he pretty much has an agenda of his own. Whatever matters he chooses to attend to is unbeknownst to essentially all Proggs. If you expect a favor from him, I wouldn't be so hopeful. I've spent enough time around that enigma to know his assistance doesn't come with a hefty price... His powers are not a service, nor a resource for someone to use. Not even he particularly enjoys breaching the line between life and death... So, are you going to put this rambling soldier out of his misery? Or shall you keep milord waiting?" QM Note: Fugazi is indeed correct, I sprinkled a full set of Nostrums/Smelling Salts/Meads (one of each) in this wave. Adjust/Distribute accordingly!
  3. It is 7 letters, its not like his name is Elliodynamussonionolodononon or something!
  4. To commemorate the soon-to-be final battle of 48, here is a compendium of all of the misspellings of Eidolon's name I have seen thus far: -Eilodon -Edillion -Edilion -Edilos -Eidilon
  5. You should be - if we double time it, we may be at Eidolon by tonight!
  6. Round Forty Seven of the Fungeon Battle! >Alex VS The Suffering (back): Special Damage Special Damage (Javelin Toss) >Sylph heals himself (back): Shield: Roots of Life (9+20=29 HP restored to entire party!) >Sylph VS The Suffering (back): Critical Hit (9x2=18+20=38x2=76-7=69 damage, -1 SP) >Punii makes jellies (back): Green jelly made! >Elgar drinks tea (back): 0 HP gained! >Galen VS The Suffering (back): Miss Shield: Mug (10x3=30+16=46x2=92x2=184-6=178 damage, 178 gold earned. His insults only serve to fuel the heroes however, and they go ballistic. Sylph finally summons up the Roots of Life, the tendrils snaking their way through the entire manor just to get to the heroes. They wrap and coil themselves around the heroes, undoing any wounds and mending any injuries The Suffering had inflicted upon them. Johon and Galen proceed to go absolutely ballistictic on the hovering soldier. He tires to parry their blows, but enhanced by thier nostrums, they land a devestating hit each time. Galen's pockets were now overflowing with coin; maybe he could treat Beatrice to a nice dinner some time? Finally, with one last throw of his wrench, Galen rips a gaping hole in The Suffering's wing. The Progg tries his best to remain steady, but with his left wing punctured and spewing blood, his flight became erratic. Zipping around like a drunk bird, he collides with pillar after pillar, wall after wall, just trying to remain in flight. Finally, his body takers too much abuse from these impacts, and he plunges to the ground with a THUD. The party looks at the slaughter around them. Dozens of Progg corpses were plastered around the room - charred, impaled, bleeding, poisoned. In the middle of it all lies The Suffering, hanging on to dear life. This battle was an incredibly taxing one, and the party can feel their experience rise considerably. The party heaves a sigh of relief - Dini mnaor had been purged by all Proggs, except one. Their inventories and resources were drained, and their bodies weary... did they even stand a chance against Eidolon? After almost 50 rounds, the battle is victorious! All heroes (excluding the QM, unfortunately) get Double EXP!! Party Leader, please distribute the loot. Sword Fragment (3) - A fragment of what appears to be a bloody massive sword. Seems to go with the other two fragments "recieved" from the other Gladius Unit members. The Suffering's Journal - A journal in which The Suffering scrawled his thoughts in. Hide of The Suffering: A rugged hide previously used by The Suffering. The hide grants extra power while the wearer is suffering from an ailment, boosting their power by 7 when under the effect of a negative status effect. Does not stack. Does damage to the target equal to all conscious party member's WP added together. The special effects in the weapon (such as decay) are not transmitted. 5: Critical Hit: WPx3+Level The Suffering lays on the floor, his wounds taking their toll. Blood slowly oozes out of him, the elite army Progg plastered from head to tail in wounds of all types: scratches, scars, bruises, gashes. His wings idly flap, they too horrdendously damaged. His left wing has a gaping whole on it, left by Galen's wrench. In this sorry state he injects himself with syringe after syringe, over and over and over - occasionally using two at once. However, in this form the syringes did nothing but raises his heart rate to a dangerously high level.... "Work... Work! Work, dammit! Mythrogg Almighty, why won't these work?!" The Suffering, in his fury, throwsd his syringes to the ground. He takes a few breaths to calm his sharp nerve, the army Progg having slight anger issues. "Heh... Hah heheheh... Remarkable, heroes... I'd expect no less from the warriors who sliced through this entire manro's defenses! I'm Progg enough to a dmit it, you are no feeble fighters... paragons among your verminous kind. But just because I have been bested here, do not think Eidolon will be an easy feat. I am a fraction of his strength - he his stronger then me exponenetially! Just thinking about how he'll reduce you to ashes and scatter you to the four winds... it is glorious! You think fo yourselves as a matach for an emperor?? A 1,104 year old monarch, the mightiest of our kind? Fools! Eidolon is unlike any foe any of you have faced yet - he is a horror beyond comparison! If you value your lives, you'll sulk back to your pathetic hall and try to survive the onsalught Eidolon will bring to Eubric... Lest you get slaughtered at his hands. Dpo you not understand, heores? I am not boasting here, I am giving a warning. Milord shall usher the Era of Eidolon across Uland, and you... you and all else... cannot do anything stop it!"
  7. To create conversation, you need to have some sort of event to remark about - right now, we're just walking down a street. Do you expect us to look at the clouds and go "Oh look, that one looks like a dagger!" or something? "Rather long street. Isn't it only a 30 minute walk across the city?"
  8. Since I am assuming that the heroes you will be recruiting would be on the 1-5 level scale, Encouraging the entire enemy party is an incredibly dangerous special(Heck, it almost always is.) - almost a bit too dangerous in my mind. Other then that, I like it.
  9. I murmur to the rest of the party. "Is it just me, or did you not see any frog tracks whatsoever? I'm all for trusting the experts on some things, but I didn't even see anything resembling frog."
  10. Real life is boring, I could be going on fantastic adventures and slaying or be on my butt watching TV. Also, Sorrow actually is a relatively quiet hero. I've noticed I'm far more of a QM in Heroica rather then, well, a hero.
  11. Okay, full analysis of 56 a-go-go! A Method To My Madness Every battle in this quest was designed to only to steadily rise in difficulty, but introduce more Heroica mechanics as well. They were structured as so: Battle 1: Basic battles, some stays effects. Battle 2: Harder, more enemies, more status effects, slightly more complicated specials. Introduced SP. Battle 3: Harder still, even more enemies, more status effects, complicated specials, passive specials, more SP. Battle 4 (skipped): Not every battle can be won! 56's battle was made to steadily ease you into the more complicated mechanics of Heroica. Now then, a major part of Heroica is the story, so I put more of a focus then usual on this one. I really wanted to develop the villains, The Stealer and The Apprentice into lovable/hate-able characters with their own backstory and quirks. The Apprentice's arrogance/madness/creepiness was developed upon fully in this quest, but The Stealer has far more to him then what has been shown; it just won't be revealed as rapidly as The Apprentice's character. Besides this focus on storytelling and backstory, I also wanted to establish a theme of taking you heroes down a notch. The world of Heroica can be a belittling one, and I really wanted to emphasize on this trait. Even in the ending there was no truly perfect option: it was either your failure or the guardsmen minds that was going to be destroyed. I hope throwing you into a cell, torturing and brainwashing you, and making you do a favor for a criminal accomplished this well enough. Player Analysis Jeaux: I always found the idea of an automaton hero intriguing, and hosting for you was a blast. I find both the concept and development of your character very interesting, and you made a good party leader. You proved well-fit for forming strategies and distributing loot, and you pulled your party through - even without a cleric! Brickington: Brickington was a fun character to watch, what with his desire to safeguard his party (despite the fact you never rolled a sentinel! ). Seeing those darker shades of him come out when you were going to do The Stealer's favor was interesting as well. Em: Em was a bit of a quiet character. He didn't develop too much during the course of the quest, but he had personality and you were active. Not all heroes need to develop so quickly anyway, sometimes having your first quest just to establish the basics can be a good move. Arnulf: Once again, sorry I initially botched your character's motives at the end. Arnulf is a good character, and seems to still have a few facts and stories hidden within him - secrets like those keep those who watch your character intrigued, so good move there. Karie: Hoo boy... Kintobor, Karie proved to be a great counterpart to The Apprentice. I feel you both developed eachother quite nicely, and you helped me flesh out the sadistic Apprentice far better then I could've initially. Seeing the dynamic between you and that green-clad jerk form was incredibly interesting, and I'm sure many others would agree. The show-biz theme you seem to be focusing on for Karie right now seems to be equally intriguing, so I'm incredibly interested to see where Karie-Quinn () goes. Overall, you were all great- active, attentive, and great RPers to boot. I couldn't have asked for a better party, and I'm happy I got to introduce you to the realm of Heroica. Have fun out there!
  12. Hey, tough decisions are fun - they test a character's limits! I'll have a full analysis up by tonight.

  14. You do realize he brought 1.5k Proggs, right? You do realize you've only killed about 100, right?
  15. Gah, I'm sorry, Shoker! I didn't see your eidt/misinterpreted your post as wanting to do the deed. I fixed it, though, I hope Joeshmoe doesn't mind his character did the chloroforming. Jeaux, had you fought The Stealer, you would've faced something like this. "You chose wrong. Feel The Harvester's wrath!" The Stealer of Senses, Level 38 Humanoid They would literally be The Stealer's stats for his later enocunters with higher-level heroes. He wasn't meant to beat: if you got TKO'ed against him, Ian and his pals would burst in with a smoke bomb of their own and they would all escape. If you smoke-bombed, a pretty much a similar ending would occur, though slightly less severe - in the end, cowardice would always cause the worst damage. You pretty much got the worst possible ending. Thank you for all the compliments, everyone! The Apprentice and The Stealer came out far better then I had imagined, and I'm happy The Stealer will have more quests to develop. I felt I was slightly stingy with the loot, however.
  16. QM Note: I didn't see the edit that clarified your post, Arnulf - I'm sorry! I'll fix that up.
  17. Hey, atleast you aren't fighting for the possible fate of Uland - you just tackled some thieves, they're going after 5 ton flying beats of mass destruction. And snark.
  18. Quest 56 is OVER! G'night, folks!

  19. Put in an awful position, the party come to a unanimous decision: They would do the Stealer's favor, even if it meant endangering the people who had helped the before. The betrayal felt sick in their stomachs, but they did not want to face The Stealer's wrath. Knowing that he would easily crush them, the party bends to his will and announce their decision. "You chose wisely." "Your concern is unnecessary, automaton. Although it pains me to say this, with Theo out of the picture, I will be much more incognito. And no, Exterlate is just a raw material, one of the hundreds of ingredients used to make the Harvester - I have no way of restoring memories." The Stealer tosses the drenched cloth at the heroes, the party careful not to breathe in whatever it was doused in. Its smell was strong and putrid, and just being around it gave the party a headache. They required no further words from The Stealer - they knew what they had to do. Heading to the previous room, they find Ian and his crew licking their wounds. They had not yet fully recovered from their previous battle, or even the Harvester's effects. This just made their job easier physically... but more of a burden on their conscious. Ian speaks to them: "Made it out of there, huh? Nice one; we're done here, then?" Jeaux wordlessly approaches Ian, the cloth tucked behind his back. Getting within arm's reach of the town watchman, with a jolt of his arm he takes it out and covers Ian's mouth the chemical-doused cloth. Ian's eyes bulge for a second in shock, and he collapses to the ground seconds after. He entered fitful sleep, grunting and moaning after inhaling the dangerous chemical. Even in his slumber he has the occasional twitch or spasm of pain. The other three watchsmen take a step back in surprise, not sure what was happening. Why them? Why were the heroes doing this? The rogues of the party proceed to chloroform the rest of the guards, they all crumpling into twitching heaps on the ground. The experience seemed none too pleasant for the guards, and the heroes felt a jolt of guilt flutter in their stomach. Was this the right thing to do? Will the guards be okay? Questions like this running amuck in their conscious, the party hoist the four watchsmen on their back and return to the Stealer. "Huh. Funny, isn't it? Your first quest for Heroica, and in the end, you do the dirty work for someone who you know is going to commit crimes - out of pure cowardice, no less. I suppose there is no such thing as hero, at least not here in Eubric. This city seems hellbent on tainting every soul who wanders within here, and ruin them... I guess it is no surprise even the heroes of this city are not excluded from wrongdoing. I sure know what this city did to me, and my family... and I can't wait to take a little bit of revenge on it for doing so. Enough of my lamenting and rambling. You did your job - although I may have under exaggerated Exterlates effectiveness a tad. Lets just say those 4 will be lucky if they remember that the sky is blue by the time they stir awake, heh. Now then, I never want to see your faces again. Shall I escort you out?" The party processes The Stealer's last few nuggets of information, disgusted. What would happen to the guardsmen? The Harvester begins to hum as The Stealer says those last words. Glowing a ghastly purple, the party has no time to react to what was about to happen. In one slash of The Harvester a flash of black light overcomes the heroes. Their senses fade, vanishing altogether in mere seconds. They collapse to the ground, their last sight being The Stealer's feet. They try to resist the waves of nausea overcoming them, but fail. IN just a few moments, the entire party was knocked as unconscious as the guardsmen. As the last lights of consciousness fade from the party, they can't help but ask themselves: what in the name of Zoot did they do the those four poor souls? The party stirs awake in front of Heroica Hall, the morning sun beginning to rise. They groggily get back up to their feet, rubbing their aching heads. Fortunately, their memories were indeed intact - and all of the loot they had acquired was also present! They had ended the life of one foul person... but failed to eliminate his master, not even trying to face him in their fear. Worse yet, their rotten deed may have damaged the minds of some of the few kind souls that dwell in this corrupt city... One thing was agreed on, though. They could all use a drink. ~The Quest Is Successful!~ Epilogue: In the dead of the night, a figure cloaked in purple dumped four limp bodies into a dark alley, careful to evade the eyes and ears of those nearby. Come the waning hours of the night, the four stir awake - not even sure where they were. Though they had saw some heroes a few hours earlier, by now they could swear those five never existed - even the building they were in no longer held any meaning to them, also blotted out of their mind. They all had pounding migraines, the men caressing their aching skulls. Their minds were frayed - their body didn't seem to want to respond, and hardly anything in the world held any meaning to them anymore. Though they had worked alongside each other for years now, they were complete strangers to each other: though they all seemed to remember each other somewhat, they were now mere acquaintances, years of friendship and teamwork destroyed in a single night. All that was left was a ghost of a memory, and even that was crumbling quickly. The four split up and walked separate paths, trying their hardest to reacquaint themselves with the city around them. However, it simply wasn't possible. Even mustering up their own names for the men was a massive task. The four shamble about Eubric, trying to find their way around the world again... Meanwhile, The Stealer sits in isolation, restructuring all of his plans. His previous ones all required two people, and thanks to the heroes, that simply wasn't possible. After disposing of the watchsmen The Stealer set to work setting up a temporary abode in the Locunon. It was quaint, but livable. The Stealer was planning to work over time on his schemes, and constantly walking between his home and his office would simply not do. Too time consuming, not to mention suspicion arousing. The purple-clad man was content isolating himself from the world in the dismal little room if it meant his schemes finally coming to fruition... The End...? QM Note: That's all, folks! You can roleplay in this thread a little bit more if needed, or return to the hall. If anyone could leave comments and criticism in the QM Lounge, it'd be greatly appreciated. I hope you enjoyed your first experience in Heroica, 56ers! I'll have my analysis up by the end of the day.
  20. "Shall we go straight?"
  21. Holy sense snatching snide scoundrels, Batman!

  22. QM Note: Opportunity for creativity, but I do have a backup plan if you really do not want to face him! "Your gold disinterests me. Seeing as I have no desire of having any witnesses to this little fiasco, I suppose you can help me erase a few. I will let you out of here intact... under a few terms. Attempt to report me to any authority whatsoever, and I will track you down and render you blind for the rest of your existence. Trust me, it won't be hard. Secondly, I have a small job for you..." The Stealer of Senses was wicked, but not in the same way as The Apprentice. The Apprentice was bloodthirsty, a lunatic - where The Apprentice had untamed malice the Stealer was cold and calculating, eager to use any asset availibe to him. He hads over to the odd console on the side of the room, reaching over his cousin's corpse - and picks an odd vial off of the counter. He gives it a few light shakes, the thick blue liquid in the container sloshing around until The Stealer was satisfied. "From what I understand from what the famel told me, there was another party of 4 involved in this entire incident, allied with the town watch. This is, obviously, a no-no for me. I'm assuming that if you are willing to fork over your life's savings, you're terrified and smart enough to perform a small job for me. This vial contains a rather peculiar substance, Exterlate - which has the wonderful effect of earasing someone's memory for the past 12 hours and knocking them out cold. You are their allies, you can get close to them. I've grown immune to the stuff, having working with it for the past six years." The Stealer tears a small cloth off of his cape. He dabs the soltuion on it. "Surely you can deduce what I'm going to ask you to do. Chloroform them, and drag their bodies out with you, place them on a park bench (or whatever suits your fancy) and continue on your merry way. After this unfortunate little encounter, I never want to see your faces meddling in my affairs again. If I do happen to catch even a glimpse of you again, or even entertain the notion that you are mucking with my carefully laid plans once more, I will dismantle your senses and leave you a pathetic wreck. As far as anyone is concerned, this night has never occured, lost to time. Do you understand? Or would you rather test your mettle against me?" The Stealer's constant threats, although subtle, were deathly serious to the group of heroes. When they had signe dup for this quest, they had never expected being entangled in such a treachorous web as this... The party can't help but squirm and grimace at the position The Stealer was putting them in. Though his deadpan betrayed no emotion, the party can detect a hint of smile underneath all the hoods and robes. The Stealer currently held all the cards, even after the party had thought they had acheived victory. An aura of hatred hangs in the room, knowing that The Stealer seemed to have the upper-hand in every possible scenario. Will the party perform The Stealer's vile favor? He taps his foot impatiently, waiting for the party's ultimatum. QM Note: Final choice of this quest!
  23. QM Note: Considering he is literally standing right in front of the door, I'd say you'd have to enter combat first. The Stealer of Sesnes speaks gravely as he sees Brickington about to ignite his smokebomb. "I'd advise against slipping away - what type of fool do you think I am?"
  24. "Yes, you meant no harm. Which is exaclty why I see a boot mark on his gut. Care to define "Chimmy-cha" for me?" The Stealer of Senses found Brickington's pleas none too amusing, nor effective. He chuckles at Karie's offer. "50 gold pieces? I can grab that in about 30 seconds. That meager offer is practically insulting, rogue." The party needs a different approach, and fast!
  25. You go back to the hall with full health, no matter what. The only consequence for fighting the Stealer, if you lose, is wounded pride. Just saying that right now.
