(Doubles, you got lucky. ) Although Sylph plotted to lose a few members this round, whether or not this round of combat was better then planned is... debateably. Sylph manages to call up The Roots of Life, miraclously. Even with a lightning storm bellowing full force, the roots manage to weave their way from Dini's personal vegetable garden all the way up the tower! Once they finally reach the top of the belltower, they entangle the heroes nearly completely. The sapping the several thousand volts out of their body, they patch up the party's wounds and begin their long descent back down the tower. Invigoroated by the roots Alex stands against Eidolon, but the Emperor is none too pleased with Sylph's stunt. He swoops over and grabs Alex in his clutches - and proceeds to smash him, head first, into the bell half a dozen times! The sound of Alex's grunts and roars of pain are drowned out by the echoing clamor of the bell, an Alex-size impression left on it. Unconcious, Eidolon drops the paladin and flies back into his normal position. Alex crumples to the ground like a broken ragdoll, his limbs twisted in angles as blood leaks out of his skull... The round proceeds relatviely quietly after Alex's brutal beatdown. Eidolon laughs maniacally, this round being a victory for him. Hal shouts gravely over the whipping winds: "This is going nowhere, fast! We may be short on Meads, but don't we have something else that equates to the same thing...?" "Diiiiiing DOOOONG!" Emperor Eidolon, Level 39 Ancient *Badly Poisoned!* HP: 1553/1850 SP: 18 24 Ether: 55/70 Specials: Emperor's Wrath: Attacks the hero who rolled Special Damage for damage equal to the combined level of every single hero on the field. That they do - I'll just change Audience With The Dead to Spiritism, to prevent duplicates. -

Only issue with changing the flavor is who actually is the one who gives it - and I'm sure we can all guess who. I'll fix the issues with the class's mechanics as you have pointed out, and take a little time to see if I can change the flavor a bit. Yes, in that single battle. It caps out at a x11 multiplier. Spirit Medium Those beings walk the thin line between life and death. Additional Health: +6 Additional Ether: +7 (+1 per each level up.) Weapons: Staves, Maces, Clubs, Broomsticks, Wands, Gems, Scrolls, Spells and Scythes. Job Traits: Spiritism: See Necromancer. All The Same: Spirit Mediums can convert 1 ether to 2 HP (and vice-versa) before each attack. Spellcasting: See Mage. Battle Style: Haunting: The Spirit Medium uses the souls of the dead to fight their opponents. 6. Shield: They Wish To Be Heard: The Spirit Medium haunts the enemy party with those who have died on the battlefield. The entire enemy party takes damage equal to Level + (WP x 1). Every enemy killed by the entire party raises the weapon multiplier by 1. The targeted enemy becomes Fragile and Weak next round, as well. The Spirit medium must pay ether equal to the weapon multiplier - if there is not enough ether left, it defaults to a normal hit. Ether cost and multiplier cap at 11. 5. Ghostly Strike: For physical attacks, The Spirit Medium damages the enemy equal to Level + (WP x 2). Every enemy killed be the entire party raises the weapon multiplier by 1. The Spirit Medium must pay ether equal to the weapon multiplier - if there is not enough ether left, it defaults to a normal hit. Ether cost and multiplier cap at 11. For spell-based attacks, the Spirit Medium does damage equal WP x 2 + Level + (Enemies slain x 4.) 4. Hit: Damages the enemy equal to WP + Level. 3. Haunt: The Spirit Medium misses, but causes their target to hear the voices of those they have slain. The targetted enemy is Fragile next round. 2. Damage: The Spirit Medium is struck by the opponent's attack. 1. Special Mirror: See Witch. Audience With The Dead is already going to make QMs want to shoot me in the head, so... Arthur has connections with the Spirit pools anyway, combine that with Medium powers and I'm sure you could convincingly retcon that clause (for RP!) occasionally. -

There, I made it squishy to +6 HP. I'd still like to keep +7/8 ether, though, because it really is an ether intensive class. How is it similar to Necromancer? I agree Spirit Medium/Necromancer are conceptually close, but the rolls themselves are completely different. -
"Giant Rat B, back. If that is dead by my first action, Bad Rat A, back. If that is dead, I do nothing (back) for my first action. My second action is to Do Nothing, back."

Woohoo, 48ers, we have reached the big one-oh-oh! Thanks for sticking with me for such a long quest.

Flare pretty much answered all of your questions, JimB. Here is version 2.Oh: Made them a bit squishier, gave them some hefty ether costs on shields and crits, but also boosted their ether. Spirit Medium Those beings walk the thin line between life and death. Additional Health: +6 Additional Ether: +7 (+1 per each level up.) Weapons: Staves, Maces, Clubs, Broomsticks, Wands, and Scythes. Job Traits: Audience with the Dead: Spirit Mediums can contact the spirits of a dead individual, as long as the body is present. All The Same: Spirit Mediums can convert 1 ether to 2 HP (and vice-versa) before each attack. Spellcasting: See Mage. Battle Style: Haunting: The Spirit Medium uses the souls of the dead to fight their opponents. 6. -

QM Note: Poison variant, so it is technically internal damage - which defies SP and row automatically. -

QM Note: How is Alex going to remedy Sylph? He lacks remedy and nurture, as far as I can see... -
Blast, I think I did too. Eidolon's war actions were designed to make you change your strategy - some just dish out damage, others send in more enemies, others hex you, and one causes him to double up and force you to go even further onto the defense. And then Medic! and Aerial Phalanx are just there to make your life harder. From hosting and playing in Heroica, though, a battles strategy changes naturally from round to round depending on the rolls. You just haven't rolled any of those strategy-altering specials quite yet...
-
As a side note, despite being the actual hardest battle in 48, Eidolon is proving to be the easiest battle to roll for since you guys killed The Wound! Probably because his mechanic is both devious and strategy bending as well as absurdly easy to execute - no matter making hallucinations of switching out tentacles!
-
Hide requires you being under a status effect - perhaps you could drink your own venom? Don't forget you unlock a third artifact come level 20, so all 3 can work.
-
It hasn't effected the battle yet, but please remember my opal imbued fan allows me to deal double damage to vermin.
-
WARNING! Formidable foe EMPEROR EIDOLON would like to battle!
-
Zawmbies, the kids love 'em! If you dislike the Insectoids... perhaps you could pit the GS factions against each other? I have been debating doing a GS Civil War MOC...
-
Perhaps another option: just remain a rogue? The class seems to suit Romulus's personality rather well, plus your loadout isn't too shabby either. Don't pick the class, let it pick you. Sorrow could've become pretty much anything, but I just basically rolled a die and went with that.

In a chorus of chanting Sylph and Elgar enchant the rest of Eidolon's limbs, Eidolon's entire body now prone to spasms. The round goes smoothly, the party scoring clean but not devestating hits... until they encounter the Gauntlets. Hal swings at one with a wide sweep of his axe, but the Emperor's claw jolts backwards. With a feindish laugh Eidolon lurches at Hal, clutching him in his gargantuan claw. Electricity surges up his arm as he deep fries Hal, the captain's body getting bathed in powerful coils of electricty. Eidolon paractically chuks Hal at the belltower's bell, the Captain's positive effects being dispelled upon impact. Romulus nearyl gets swatted away by Eidolon's claw, but it suffers a spasm, punching the hard rock floor instead of Romulus. Combrys's humming still ceases from the encounter, though. Eidolon wrings his claw out, and barks some orders to his troops down below. A purple mist clouds the parties vision, thier heads thrumming in pain as magic washes over them. It doesn't last long, but it seems Sylph - and Elgar, in a cruel twist of fate - succumbed to the powerful magicks. They take knee, now loyal to their new Emperor. "Kill them." That simple command was all Sylph and Elgar required. They mechanically got back to their feet and rotated on their heel, their eyes devoid of emotion or thought... A die will be rolled to decide which command he will shout down: -6: Arrow Storm: The archers fire off a blitz of arrows, doing 19 damage to the entire party. -5: Bombs Away: The bombers fling sharpnel bombs at the heroes, doing 12 damage to the entire party - disregarding SP! -4: Hail To The King: The Progg Mages cast a spell over the party - all heroes have a 1/6 chance of becoming Hexed for the next round. (Can be remedied or removed with 7 ether.) -3: Medic! The Progg Mages heal their emperor, resotring 120 HP to himself and all of his appendages. -2: Reinforcements: Eidolon calls for reinforcements, 2 Aerial Proggs swooping in to their master's aid. -1: Ten Hut: The next time Eidolon shouts out commands, he will get to shout two. (If the same command is rolled twice, it only occurs once.) At the end of even number rounds, the order he shouted previously will be acted upon. Inner Rage: ???
