"She reminds me of myself!" Unfortunately. "Lets proceed."

"That is a double-edged sword, sir Boomingham. I have met people who don't deserve to touch a sword or even weild a weapon - ended quite a few of them. Anyone can be devoid of honor. I see no reason to single mages out of the crowd when there are so many that commit the same wrongs, minus the spellbooks and Ether.

"Hah! You think I haven't put the hours into this little ploy? I've gotten my hands dirty more then I had to... evidenced by the fact I defeated you, outnumbered 1 to 5, and threw you into a dirty little cell. Do not try to place yourself as my superior - I am infinitely better than you. And this time, I won't be outnumbered against you pitiful fools." In one swift motion, The Apprentice strides over to the beeping console. He swipes the powered-up Harvester and points at the heroes, their eyesight beginning to jitter just from that simply gesture. The Appretnice takes a step back, standing alone in the middle of the room He speaks: "When my parents passed away, I had to perfect my little snake training act... and in the prcoess, acquired some rather exotic species of snake. Come on out, my comrades!" With a whistle, the Apprentice draws out his scaly minions. First, 3 cobars all of different colors emerge from the barrles in the corner, hssing and glaring at the group of heroes. However, an ominous rumble is heard as the large box rumbles... and a massive snake emerges from inside. "Come now, knight. Surely you don't think that a few words coated in your nice demanor can change my mind. So, shall we do battle? Or will you go back to your cage, lab rats? And sorry, this mask simply isn't coming off. I'll spare you my good looks." -
"Lets not fall apart already. Besides the tracks, is there any other way to identify your brother? I get the feeling the tracks will eventually end..."

"Sigh. I suppose beauty and intelligence are inversely proportional... Worry not, this story is quite the interesting one. There was once a young boy who lived in the hovels. The little lad, like most young boys, had a mother and father. The boy and his family weren't exactly kings and queens - not even middle class - but they got by on their meager earnings.Mommy worked in one of the hovel's kitchens, and daddy earned his money by doing the odd repair job, patching up walls and fixing up planks. The young lad earned his lot by being a snake tamer. He had found his slithery little friend when a year or so prior when the scaly chap slithered his way into the house. The boy and the snake became fast friends, and through their cooperation, earned a gold or two each day from street performing. One day, however, this little family of 3 expanded to 4. The lad's aunt, his mother's sister, simply couldn't find any work - positively heartbroken after her husband passed away. She found herselves entangled in some criminal activities... and died, murdered during a heist. Her son, the little boy's older cousin, soon joined the family. However, work was growing scarce for the mommy and daddy, and especially with another mouth to feed, needed more work. Work that simply wasn't availible. However, mommy had some "connections" from her sister... and soon, the lad's parents were both trapped in the same web his aunt had weaved. They too suffered the same fate, killed when they were just trying to put food on the table for their nephew and son. The lad and his older cousion grew up alone in the hovles, both of them oprhaned. The young boy continued his snake performances, while his older cousin worked at an aid in the Ji Pei. The cousin had a remarkable head on his shoulders, despite his humble upbringings. He soon acheved mastery of technology. However, despite his excellence, his tainted origins prevented him from securing a full job. Rejected, the cousin began to tackle various "jobs", unbeknownst to the young boy. They raked in enough money to make by, the lad's cousin away during the day and holed up in his room at night. One day, the young boy got curious. Very curious. He decided he would peek into his elder cousin's room one night... and found him toiling away at a formidable weapon, adorned with two razor sharp blades." The Apprentice signals to The Harvester. "Can you guess who the young boy was? I'm sure if you somehow manage to think extra hard, you'll figure out who the cousin was too." -

The group of guards gives a salute of good luck as the party presses down the corridor, some of them drenching their weapons in venom. The came across an old, moss-plastered door, still as sturdy as can be. Light and odd sounds leak from the doorway... what waited beyond it? The party throws the door open and enter the final room of the Locunon. An odd console, dotted with buttons and levers of all shapes and sizes, nests the Harvester. It was a most peculiar sight to the heroes, the device whistling and whirring, flashing and beeping. The machine blade gleams grimly, as if powered up by the odd apparatus that held it. A table sits next to the gadget, housing a plethora of vials and bottles, all containing strange substances. A rather large box and three barrels sit in the corner, a strange hissing sound emanating from some of them. In the center of the room stands a smug Apprentice. Though his mask concealed his face, the party could detect a wicked smile underneath all of the head garments. "Ahh, you made it past Ian and his little posse! Funny, really... rob someone of their common sense and they treat every order as if it was from god itself. What a lovely device the Harvester is... Anyway, heroes, you made it. Would you, by any chance, like to hear a story? It'll be a good one, that I assure you." -
"Wha -?! The game rules are discriminating against me now?!"

"There is the issue of finding which frog your brother is. There is more than one amphibian in Eubric..."

Stats are good! I approach the gates of Ziegfried manor, standing next to my puzzled party. They were trying to decipher the butler's words - was it really that difficult. I greet my party with a nod. "Hello, all. I believe the butler is telling us, "Heroes, go quietly through the nursery. Morgan is waiting for you.""

I meander into the marketplace, a shadowy figure clad in robes and armor. My pocket is full to burst with gold, having mugged practically every single malignant soul in Miranda. With all that gold, a shopping spree in order. Stopping at Portia's Potion Shack, I practically loot the stores of meads, smelling slats, and nostrums. As I go to check out, I realize that if looks could kill, Portia would have murdered me twice over. "...Is there an issue?" "Yes. You." I sigh and pay for my goods: 10 Meads (15x10=150), 10 Smelling Salts (25x10=250), 10 Nostrums, (35x10=350) and 2 Phoenix Essences (50x2=100) (150+250=400+350=750+100=850 gold spent) With Portia still shooting me hateful glances, I head over to Anwyl's smithy. I place down my steel fan in front of the "dwarven" smith, the blade resonating an icy aura from the opal imbued within. "This for your girlfriend, undead?" "No, I simply don't argue with results. Can you upgrade this to WP: 20?" (130+140+150+160+170+180+190+200= 1320 gold spent. Anwyl shrugs and sets to work. I grab a quick brunch at the hall, and return with a full stomach - and a nearly empty wallet, compared to how full it was before. I pick up my Steel Fan, the blade now nearly twice as deadly, and pass Anwyl the gold his services required. (1320+850=2170. 2826-2170=656 gold left.)

The Suffering begins to prime another syringe to stick himself with. "Raider, do you have a tendency to speak to people who aren't there? This is only a fraction of our forces - even if we are all vanquished, you haven't yet even murdered 20 percent of us. Did you really think you are strong enough to fight off 1,500 Proggs?! Pathetic fool! You're a disgrace, and you shall as one - whether at my hands or the Emperor's! Fight on, men! We will kill these intruders yet!" The mobs initiate yet another chant, this one less deafening due to their waning numbers. It was plenty loud nonetheless, practically shaking the entire room they are in. "EI-DO-LON! EI-DO-LON!" The Suffering's eyes flare up and grow even brighter as he injects himself with yet another syringe, boosting his power further. He chuckles cruelly, as if in pity of the heroes. "I am a soldier; always have been, always will be. And I'm not afraid to die for my cause. Even if I fall here, you will have a power far more terrible then any of you have ever faced to contend with. The Era of Eidolon is coming, heroes - and there is nothing you, or anyone else, can do to stop it." -
Awesome group, Flare! Lets go catch some amphibians! Just a slight warning: I probably won't be able to post on Thursday morning or Saturday evening. On Thursday I am flying out to a bar mitzvah (2 hour flight incredibly early) and on Saturday is the actual bar mitzvah. Other then that, my activity shouldn't drop.

Dozens of corpses of Progs are strewn about the room, blody and mutilated by the heroes. The disfigured corpses serve as a gruesome backdrop as the two forces collide, hero and Progg. Heroica RPG - Quest #56: The Stealer of Senses
Endgame replied to Endgame's topic in The Heroica Archive
The four guardsmen, all of them now conscious, somewhat cock their head in confusion at the load of questions Karie had just blasted at them. They gave the entire party quizzical looks, still not fully reacquainted with their senses. "Hey, boss, didn't this chick just fight us...?" "...And why do I have an arrow stuck in my beard?" "Ugh, my head is throbbing..." "Same here, Jacob... my head is pounding like a drum... And yes, Derrell, I'm fairly sure "this chick" just did try to rip me a new one. I also get the feeling we weren't acting of our own will... I'll try to answer your questions to the best of my addled brain's ability... My name is Ian. The bearded man is Lucas, the gentleman with the axe is Jacob, and the rude man to my left is -" "Hey!" " - is Derrell. Although I go by the term "captain", I'm just captain just of this crew of 4. The Captain of the Town Watch, Patricia, sent us over here to investigate some strange occurrences. Apparently, folks were seeing hooded men wandering about here, performing some sort of alchemy. Of course, neither is technically a crime, but odd people and stuff that can potentially explode tends to arouse the Watch's suspicion. We are currently in the Locunon - a tiny little overflow prison, built just in case we had no more cells to shove people in to. This building was never needed, and eventually just abandoned altogether. Biggest waste of our budget ever. I've never crossed paths with this Stealer of Senses, or an Allen Lias. The only person we encountered when we got here was a man clad in green. He had a pretty menacing looking weapon. After he stabbed me with it, my memory went black... and here we are now." The group of 4 pulls up their sleeves to reveal an unnerving sight: each one had two identical wounds plastered on their forearms.
