"Tall talk for a little man. We'll put a swift end to your little rebellion." "Heroica simply has the nastiest tendency to barge in on us during our errands, but whether we do the deed or not, your end awaits you in this mine." -
"I can't believe this happened either... My fault again, huh?"

"COMMECNING SCAN." The Minoid stares down the two hulking beasts, scanning them carefully - noting every little detail it possibly could. Scafflord, Level 38 Mechanical Plant HP: 900/900 SP: 7 Immune to Sealing and Blindness! Specials: If Bouldlord Is Alive: Pillar Sweep: Scafflord grabs Bouldord and holds him like a club, smashing each hero. All heroes take damage equal to their level times 1.5. If Scafflord Is Alone: Splinter Storm: Scafflord unleashes a flurry of wooden stakes. Two random heroes take 30 damage, disregarding SP. Passive Specials: Splinter Effect: Every succesful attack on Scafflord raises his level by 2. Vengeance!: If Bouldord dies, Scafflord becomes lucky. Drops: Splinter Broom Bouldlord, Level 42 Rock HP: 900/900 SP: 7 Immune to Sealing and Blindness! Specials: If Scafflord Is Alive: Tremor Drop: Scafflord picks up Bouldlord and throws him up in the air, the rock monster landing with a thud. The resulting quake has a 1/2 chance of Stunning each hero, and has a 1/6 chance of dequipping each hero's artifacts. If Bouldlord Is Alive: Tower Power: Bouldlord crushes the hero, cutting their health and ether in half instantly, defying row and SP. Passive Specials: Collapse: Every single time Bouldlord is damaged, he has a 1/3 chance of toppling on top of the hero. This halves their health, regarding row and SP. Vengeance!: If Scafflord is defeated, Bouldlord becomes Hastened. Drops: Silver Ore x2 "SCAN COMPLETE. OTHER INFORMATION: There are high traces of ether contained in both entities." "As the darling little automaton has revealed, we are not going to be beaten by the likes of you." "You will not meddle in our affairs anymore! Now, you have a choice: Death by rocks to the head, or a stake to the heart?" -

"Aww, it seems the poor creature is confused." "This must be a pretty drastic change in pace! He looks positively dumbfounded." "Well, little skirmisher, I'm afraid we can't allow things to escalate any more than they already have. We need to drop the hammer on you folks before anything gets too badly derailed. If it takes this little spectacle, then hey, atleast you'll go out with a bang, right?" -
All aboard the crazy train, 99ers!

The party and the freed miners go their seperate ways. The Minoid steps up to the second cave-in, repeating the procedure he had done just a minute beofre. In a matter of seconds, the rock is reduced to mere rubble, the party's way no longer blocked. The forge onwards, eventually reaching the elevator room.. To the left of the elvator sits some boulders, and to the right some scaffolding. The party begins to walk forward when something very odd happens... The mining materials begin moving. Rock crunches and wood splits as the scaffolding and boulders begin to rumble. A black aura surrounds them as they tremor, altering their shape... The wood splits and splinters, creating some appendages. They knot and meld into the main body, an ape-like collosus assembling itself. The boulders stack and begin to mesh into eachother, rock powder flying off of the minerals as they combine. The party steps back as the two new foes begin to approach them, seemingly possesing the mining materials... "Hmm, Bouldlord. What do you make of these four little whelps?" "Well, Scafflord, I dare say they are sticking their noses where they don't belong!" -
"Don't you dare desecrate the deceased like that, Heckz!"

QM Note: You are correct. The main mine circuit for floor one is essentially a diamond. -

"Actually, the room right before this one links back to the opening foyer. We can show ourselves out. Oh, and to use the crank on the elvator, you're going to have to use the elevator key." The miner passes Arthur a weathered key to use the elvator. "So unless you wanna take a 800 foot plunge down the shaft, use that. Now, should we go our sperate ways?" -
The peices of paper betray that they were playing some kind of roleplaying game. What an odd past time, for any life form on this planet. They don't even seem to notice the heroes, too absorbed in their campaign. <Shh! We found a boxed set of Ghosts and Gaols, and I'm just about oneshot the boss of this quest! Level 72 my thorax!> <I'm telling you, that isn't a valid move! Assasins don't even have Intimidation, so you couldn't have used it to lower her guard enough to use the Ashes of Demise!> <So why did you let him do it?> <I didn't! You guys just ASSUMED I'd sit back and let you break the final boss of this campaign!>

"STATEMENT: The Giant may very well be an organic lifeform weilding a mechanical weapon. STATEMENT: Someone still had to produce said weapon. STATEMENT: Without further analysis, there is only two things we can be sure of - it weilds a weapon that is likely mechanical and therefore built by something, and it has a beating heart. Draw any conclusion from those two facts if you are able. QUERY: Shall I destroy the other cave-in in the previous room so that we may progress?" -

"Motorized, I guess? Sounded like a much louder version of the Minoid." -

"Can't say I recognize it." "I'll draw the part I could see... Erm, I;m not a great artist... At all." The bald miner presents a comically crude sketch. "Basically, it resembled a spear with some sort of weird, blade thingy at the end. At least as tall as the Giant is, since I guess its a spear and all. Really noisy, too." -
-Purple is the QM. -Green is playing a Druid. -Light Blue is a Beserker. -Blue is an Assasin. And yet, all four of them will probably be unceromoniously stomped out anyway.

"The Minoid is top of the line, eh? And no, no questions. I'm just desperate to get a gulp of fresh air... We've been under there for 2 days. We had rations, and we just finished the last pudding cup an hour before you arrived." "Smoke played some nasty tricks on my vision, but from what I could see, it was huge. Heavy, too, by the way it coordinated itself. Seemed to be stomping aorund like a troll one moment, zipping around like a dragon the next! I don't know why it isn't making footprints." "I saw the weapon it was using!" -

The party tromps up the stairs and throws open the doors, finding themselves in perhaps the most bizzare situation they had encountered yet. Four groups of bugs gather round a sprawl of papers and a pair of dice, using their collective strength to throw the toy. <Hah! I rolled a 6! I use the Golden Reaper and asssasinate the Hobgoblin Goddess!> <But she's immune to insta-kill.> <He used the ashes of demise, remember?> <I thought we nerfed that so that it only effects enemies below Level 50?> What will the party do?

"STATEMENT: The blast is designed specifically for blasting out the sides of shrapnel, causing the cave-in to collapse inwards. STATISTIC: There is a 98.64% chance you will be perfectly fine, with only a 0.01% chance of fatal injury. I will now begin the procedure." The Minoid trudges up the left cave-in and drills a hole into it with one arm. He inserts his other hand into the tiny gap created, and releases a small explosive from his wrist. He takes three large steps back, seemingly counting down the number of hisses the explosion was making. Before long, it goes off with a muted bang, causing the sides of the cave-in to collapse inward and exposing the path onwards. "OBSERVATION: The view is clear. We may progress." And progress the party does, stepping into a breakroom. Three miners stand in the breakroom. "So ol' Cobb finally sent help." -
Remember, folks, this is kinda meant to be a progressive thing, so: Next person can choose Sorrow, Hoke, or Karie.

Oh hey, remember that character review thing we said we'd do back in January? Basically, how this works is you review one character, than the next post reviews the character of the poster above them, so on and so forth. To start us off I chose a hero at random using an RNG, and that hero is none other than... Grimwald Gjinko (LordOfTheNoobs) Grimwald is a contrast to many heroes in Heroica. As LordofTheNoobs has said once before, his life lacks any big moments - just many small ones that built his character. And he definitely is a character. He is a humble, reasonable fellow who comes from equally humble origins. To see a hero come from such a background is a very refreshing trait. Further adding to Grimwald's character is his species. Grimwald is one of only two gnomes in all of Heroica's massive gallery of heroes. This opens up some interesting RP options, such as the whole "mistake me for a dwarf" complex alluded to in 99. Grimwald has faced failure as well, further adding to his character. His very first quest proved to be one of the most intense ones he has had (...so far... ), the Wolfgang laying siege to the theatre. He was knocked out by demons, and narrowly saved. Whether or not this failure weighs on him is yet to be seen, but Grimwald's combination of a humble origin and a variety of Heroica experiences have made him a very enjoyable character to follow.
