  1. Fair, I was thinking mostly about clones in general as the overcorrection (years with limited clones sets to a lot of clone wars sets). I grouped in prequels unfairly.
  2. My new wishlist for the 50th anniversary in a few years. UCS Death Star $900 Play scale Tantive V $200 Sandcrawler -$160 Mos Esiley - build of the crashed ship with a molded Ronto ), a Jawa, sandtrooper, droid or two) $80 Bantha attack (with tusken, Luke, and a molded bantha) $60 red 7 (or 1/2/3/4/6/8/9) - $50 Tie advanced - $40 Lars moisture farm - $30 evaporator, Owen, very, luke stormtrooper battle pack - $20 microfighter x wing with new red pilot -$13
  3. Haha, funny. Also not hating on clones or the prequels, or Disney plus shows. I just find it interesting with all the releases this year (and last year) that the original trilogy doesn’t have any easy entry for kids, as everything is over $50. I like to occasionally surprise my kids with a set in the $10-$30 range but outside of mechs can’t really get them anything OT related. I do enjoy that we are getting some good OT sets but they are expensive. This is probably an overcorrection too from previous years where prequels were neglected for OT and new movies or shows so I get it, just excited for things to balance out (here is hoping that the rumored R2-KT anniversary set is a $30 OT oriented set).
  4. I think Jedi Bobs ship looks good. I don’t have the nostalgia for Jedi Bob despite being a Lego Star Wars fan since it was first released so I probably won’t buy it for myself. My kids will probably want it, although I would add that they really like the dark falcon (more than the episode 9 one on the shelves). The rebuild the galaxy will likely be very popular with the target audience (and it was smart for Lego to include Jedi Bob for those that feel nostalgic and will want the set). With all the set releases this year if we exclude mechs and the tusken raider brickhead. Every set below $50 is either Prequels/CW or Disney plus show (mostly mando season 3). I just thought it was interesting that with all of the releases and opportunities to get some of these OT sets under $50 like the tantive hallway, Lego chose to focus on prequels and Disney plus for their actual sets that parents or collectors might just pick up while out shopping because it is not too expensive.
  5. If the Ewok village is real (doubtful given the lack of confirmation). I am hoping we get Teebo and Leia (in the dress) again. Those two are pricey and having a new option would be cool. Thrown looks good, probably better we didn’t get Enoch if it doesn’t have a custom mold. It is nice looking but I wish the build was scaled back for an easier price point to get the minifigs. Sarlac looks good, this has an opposite effect on me than the peridia set. I want the builds but only one or two of the figs, where the peridia set I just want the figs not the build (although it does look good).
  6. Going to do this, it looks great. Just ordered some parts to make the middle section black also (on the buttresses at least). Will try to post something when I get around to the mods. Thanks for parts list.
  7. 3PO looks good, this is the year of buildable droids for sure (and at least three of the four are good looking sets)
  8. I am too, it would have been nice to get a new rebel pilot that they haven’t made yet (from the movies) but this will at least save me from buying the set or bricklinking any minifigures.
  9. Awesome! Thanks for sharing (again) :)
  10. Did you post any of these to the improving my minifigs discussion under Star Wars? Would love to see pictures. I have pieced together quite a few minifigs over the years this way, definitely time consuming to find good deals that coincide with things I am already buying
  11. seeing the ISD in solid bricks video next to the executor makes me want a starship collection ISD. I think the ISD looks good and it is nice seeing it in a review, but cleaning up the proportions on a display stand would be so good. Hopefully Praji is not too expensive on the aftermarket otherwise I will have to buy this set next year. Either that or if there are some good mods to the set to give it a more complete feel (giving it a bottom) as it does look good.
  12. My current wishlist - ISD microfighter with Captain Needa (or Piett) X wing microfighter with Biggs Hounds tooth/punishing one microfighter pack with Bossk and Dengar Jedi interceptor microfighter with Anakin Ewok glider and AtSt microfighter pack with Ewok warrior and storm trooper (or AtSt driver) Naboo royal starship microfighter with padme Sail barge/skiff microfighter pack with Leia and gamorean guard (or other alien from the scene) Imperial Shuttle microfighter with imperial officer falcon microfighter with lando Death Star microfighter with tarkin (would be hilarious looking)
  13. Hoping to get the leaks soon (or official reveals at this point). What is the most buildable characters/creatures we have gotten in a single year? This year we have R2/ Droideka/ C-3PO (rumored)/ Unknown leia set. That seems like a lot of buildable characters/creatures in one year. Just curious if there is precedent for that many from other years vs. what we are expecting this year.
  14. Was there any information that they were waiting for sales data on barad Dur? I know last year they said they would base the future on sales of Rivendell in an interview. I have not heard this from any of the interviews I have seen regarding barad dur . So I agree 2026 could be most likely, the only thing I have heard though is the comments from Rivendell which if they based the market off that set then 2025 is a possibility too. Unfortunately I think the hunt for gollum is the most likely timeframe we will get anything. We could also see another set next year just based on the Rivendell sales alone, Barad Dur was definitely in the works by the time Rivendell was released, so it is not outside the realm of possibility that another set (or sets) was started last year alongside barad dur. the only other thing that I can think of is that the current sets have all had the icons or brickheadz design teams working on them. I have not heard of a team dedicated to LOTR yet. Just a little concerning as it comes to an actual wave vs. one offs. I am not sure how they structure their design teams for a small licensed wave (like Indiana jones) if it is pulling a few people into a project, or setting up a design team. I am assuming there would need to be something more than what the other sets have had though.
  15. I’ve seen it a lot too. It also is imposing next to Rivendell (feels much bigger) which gives it even more of that wow moment in person. Really hoping for a small LOtR wave to get leaked soon for early to mid next year.
  16. Finished building the set a week ago, love it. Just realized though when we built Rivendell we knew Barad Dur was a possibility from leaks. No leaked or rumored sets in the future currently just the hope that they do an actual wave related to the movie this year or future movies. Any chances Lego says LOTR will be back without leaks?
  17. Nice set up, I like the double gate in front.
  18. I would prefer the birthday party scene as a D2C over a full shire (full shire seems like it would be gigantic or micro scale). I would prefer some smaller playsets for the shire like the green dragon, etc. I think my wish list for D2C sets would be the following in order Minis Tirith $500-:700 Meduseld :$300 Minis Morgul: :$400 Lothlorien : $200-$300 argonath: $100 Prancing Pony: $200 Party Tree: $400 Grey Havens: $250 Bag End :$250 Helms Deep: $500 ideally though we would get some play sets and battle packs to fill in the gaps or take the place of some of these.
  19. MBS styled sets would be great for that! Similar to the betrayal at cloud city. I agree with your earlier point though battle packs are the way to go. It is such low hanging fruit too (orc battle pack to fill out the giant Barad dur scenes) (elves battle pack to populate Rivendell), and then if minis tirith comes out orcs batt pack and Gondor battle pack. They already have moulds and basic designs it would not be hard to produce. also how much would you all pay for a grond set? Comes with four orcs and one of the beasts pulling it (big fig like dew back sized)
  20. I am hoping that if they do both of those that they are in different years. I might start grabbing a $50 gift card each month just to be ready in case they do another big one.
  21. This might be unpopular but a 5000 piece bag end does not sound fun. I would prefer something in the 2000 to 3000 range (with a $200-300 price point). The old bag end is really excellent and if you did 4x to 5x as many parts we could have a great one that’s not $500. I am hoping the massive scale treatment is only on minis tirith and maybe lothlorien. I would like some $200 to $300 sets (and $10-$100).
  22. https://www.lego.com/en-us/minifigure-factory?campaign=true anybody else see the custom LOtR fan minifig with the fan shirts?
  23. I got plastic bags, was surprised because I was expecting to see paper bags after the reviews. Did anyone else have issues with the mouth of Sauron piece bending?
  24. Finished the build, it is awesome. Way cooler in person. Here are some thoughts. Sauron minifig is great. I wouldn’t mind if they did a second age set with isildur and Sauron with the big legs but our first Sauron is great. I don’t mind the one piece helmet (two would have been better but this one is good). love the tree/shire burning, the throne room was mine and my kids favorite part (and the door, my kids loved the door, the spider, the hidden rings, and the food with the cook) The eye is excellent! It is really impressive. i like the coloring at the base and around the eye, I don’t care for it in the middle tiers. I also don’t love some of the rock work colors (I would have leaned into dark grey and light grey without the tan - maybe a dark brown would have worked here for some accents) I didn’t love the big rock pieces at first but they grey on me and I think it was the right choice. The minifigs are great (I’m including Sam and Frodo here because of the helmet mould). I cared the least about the mouth of Sauron because of how similar it was to the one I have (and the middle spike is bent - like badly bent to the left). A battle pack and a big fig troll would really populate the set well. I thought the build process was good, not Rivendell good but solid, it didn’t get boring even though some sections had multiple repeat builds. Will want to figure out a way to extend the height by 2-7 bricks. Another section would be too much but a small bump in height wouldn’t be bad - not needed but would be nice. overall great set love a lot of the details. Also the GWP is excellent, and I stand by it makes me want more smaller sets from LOtR.
  25. Me too, building the GWP reminded me how much I love building small LOTR sets. Like I can sit down for thirty minutes to an hour and build a nice set in the theme (brickheadz are not the same feeling as seeing the fell beast take shape and getting the minfigs then playing with my kids with the characters). As much as I love Rivendell and Barad Dur the long builds are cool but not as enjoyable as a smaller 50-$100 set to me, plus they are harder to get my kids involved with the more complex builds. I would be happy with a small wave like all the other franchise IP seems to get even if it is two or three sets to test the market. honestly the simplest set would be an orc camp reusing their new molds and prints. Like get the four orcs, throw in the accessories (not even printed) then do like a small hut or outpost build, throw on a catapult function and you have a great selling set with minimal design effort. Plus all the prints and parts are currently in production.
