Good call, I do love the mines of Moria set and the cave troll big fig.
-
Made some blue wizards. Thought it would be fun to have the five wizards (plus Gandalf the white in the background).

100% agree, my kids like it, and friends kids, and family members kids all like it. (Plus all the AFOLS) If there were affordable lego sets they would buy them. I think Lego is missing out on easy sales, especially around a movie this year and another one in two years. I don't think it has to be a big theme, but 3-5 sets a year would be an easy win for everyone.

I like the book nook idea. Very fitting for Tolkien fans (beyond Lego fans) but it is also a cool concept and is not crazy expensive. I agree with your sentiment though as there are no standard sets or even dioramas which we all desperately want, it seems like a miss. If this was part of a wave of five or six sets it would feel like a cool additional idea, but we haven’t gotten a standard balrog yet, any Gondor, missing lots of characters, etc. so it is a let down. Lego needs to do some standard sets for LOTR and at this point I’m hoping we will get some hunt for gollum sets in 2026 with some older ones sprinkled in.

just found it. It says book nook on the one I saw, so I am assuming it is a small box for a book shelf (like the bat cave shadow box) just with the scene. It could be interesting, hoping the Balrog looks good. I also saw $120 listed which is refreshing to have something cheaper for LOTR. I will buy it to complete the LOTR sets, but am really hoping to start getting normal sets. I think the bookend/booknook idea is good, but when there are no regular sets all the good ideas seem lacking.

Where did you see this? hopefully we get a really good model in a diorama style that scales with a mini figure as part of a bookend. Getting a Balrog inspired book end would be disappointing (given the lack of overall sets). Although I do love the idea, and would be very excited if this was part of even a small line of sets.

This can be said for pretty much every collectible out there. Any cards, toys, cars, stamps, coins, guitars, you name it every collectible gains more value than the value of its base components. I think people are paying more for the experience of collecting than thinking that somehow the base components value is significantly higher for one collectible over the others that are similar but not as rare.

Do were remember why Gloin wasn't named in the set? Was it a conflict with the Hobbit IP, or just because he was not named in the film?

I think it is safe to say we want the set to include all of the dwarves with their proper molded facial hair, plus the 5 hobbits, Gandalf, two ring wraiths and 10-12 additional hobbits. In reality, I don't see why a set like this couldn't justify having 20 or so minifigures. Hobbits are just torso and face prints as they have roughly the same hair and legs. I think we should expect more from Lego with some of the prices going up this much, and when there is a lot of uniformity in the characters. My ideal line up would be the following (and I am thinking like the Falcon in both eras being represented). Gandalf, old and young Bilbo (not old Bilbo from Rivendell, but with the hobbit hair piece in grey), the four hobbits, Thorin, Dwalin, bofur, fili, kili, balin, two Ringwraith's, and then five or six hobbits (Rosie, Farmer Maggot, Odo Proudfoot, Lobelia, plus two others). ten of these minifugres would have the same hobbit hair (Lobelia and Rosie would have different hair). Three of the dwarves would have the same hair and no special beard. So we would need four new molds for this list (Bofur, Dwalin, Balin, Thori/kili/fili), there would be six repeat figures from recent sets (Gandalf, four hobbits, Ringwraith) I realize that Lego will not do something like this, and our expectations of Lego are generally low based on their track record, but this list is not unreasonable for $350 considering the repeats and simplicity for the hobbit designs in my opinion.
-
My Ideal situation as well! unless they wanted to add one or two extra hobbits onto the list but that my be wishful thinking (although they would just be face and torso prints because they all have the same legs and hair pieces)
-
Haha that is quite the battle pack. I am assuming that the minifigures in this battle pack are Lobelia Sackville Baggins with three spoon outfit minifigures (silver minifigures bodies with new spoon head molds). Or is this a foil pack with Lobelia and a bunch of spoons?

I am good with some remakes. However for Bag End I am hoping for a bunch of hobbits set in LOTR. Especially if it is $350. I don't think 12-15 total mini figures is too much to ask for especially considering if they are hobbits you would only have two or three legs with no prints, plus different colors of the same hair piece, just torso and face prints to work on. If they go with the hobbit version vs. LOTR then I would want at least 18- 20 mini figures so we can get some hobbits in addition to the company and Gandalf (2 sackville Baggins, and maybe one selling off Bilbo's belongings)
-
Same with me, got them to have the complete LOTR sets. different question is do you need all of the hobbit sets to be complete or are they two separate lines? also, I am happy about bag end especially at $250-$300. I would love some new hobbits outside the four so hoping we get 10-12 minifigures. a second set would be awesome. I echo the sentiment that it is not just a buildable creature like Harry Potter is doing but the actual bridge scene. still holding out hope for Gondor. Someday (hopefully not another decade goes by)

LEGO Star Wars 2024 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!

home one is a buy for me but will look for a discount later on. I think $60 on the high end. Disappointed with the prices outpacing inflation without much value add in the process. -
Nice edits. I particularly like the Obi-Wan ones, may steel these. I recently bought some of the pilot Luke key chains and swapped the arms and legs with my pilots which has been nice, but I like the wedge without the helmet on.

Simple build of a catapult, alfrid and a big fig troll would be a great set. Just need the gold coins.
-
Anyone have any part suggestions on making the blue wizards? I know there is no movie reference, but I was thinking one of the following robes combos (Albus Dumbledor Robes from series 1, the D&D elf wizard, or Ewald from legend of Chima) (Paired with beards, old man faces, potentially 20606pb06 if it can fit a beard). I also like the Dwarf Cleric face/Hair combo for one of them.
-
The Shire and a Balrog would be cool. Hopefully we get some news of Gondor.
-
Wish I had known that at the time. I would have bought a bunch of those. Bought the set though so I got them, but getting spares would have been awesome.
-
Good call, I have a spare Saruman torso I can try out, wondering if it works best with a grey cape and grey skirt piece.
-
Does anyone have a good Celebor mini figure that they have made? I am a lego purist, and was wondering if anyone had found a decent print combination for Celebor (or other LOTR characters).
-
Just picked up the star destroyer on the 30% Amazon sale. Looking forward to it at that price.

Just saw someone post that the Nazgûl torso from the GWP will be in pick a brick soon. Crazy, that makes those wings the only unique part.

I never had problems with quality until the last year and a half. I have had at least three or four times where I reached out to Lego for replacement parts due to quality issues or missing pieces, never had to do that in the past. The higher prices have also led me to not be willing to look over mistakes as quickly. I think if I had a missing part and felt I had a good deal on the set I would just grab a spare part, but with the higher prices I’m not willing to let the quality issues go. -
Haha as much as I would have used to hate the idea of LOtR mechs. At this point I would take it and buy a a dozen just to get some Gondor minifigures. Anything to get a cheaper LOtR set. I would even pay the license tax for it and pay $16.
