  1. Looks like you predicted the exact premise of Mixels, right down to the 3 factions per wave thing! I don't think that would work. Action themes are about action, not going around searching for clues and solving mysteries. This would only work if it was based on the action-heavy Sherlock Holmes films with RDJ. I think the best hope we have of getting a Sherlock Holmes set is for the Sherlock Cuusoo project to pass. This is an awesome idea! I'm a sucker for crossovers and I would love a story/theme like that! Sadly, I don't think this is ever going to happen. TLG doesn't seem to like reviving old characters outside of occasional cameos. Someone definitely needs to write this fanfiction though!
  2. Well, it wasn't the first film to use that technique, but you're right that it is one of the few times it was used successfully, and that's mainly due to the fact that they were actually meant to be cartoons living in the real world instead of being intended to look real, but end up looking like inserted cartoons anyway.
  3. No offense, but I think you're the one who needs to calm down. I never said that I wasn't going to survive this or that this is equal to anything you mentioned. All I wanted to say is that I am afraid that they will screw this movie up. "Terrifying" was obviously an exaggerated expression, but if it bothers you so much, I can reword it for you. Well, his face would be CG either way, but yeah, it would be best if he would be all-CG. However, this being a live-action hybrid, I would imagine that the villain in this movie would be Professor Nimnul à la Gargamel. As for Zipper, I can easily see them simply making a CG version of him, just like the other characters, and maybe have Dee Bradley Baker provide the "voice" or noises for him. I certainly hope that they don't make him look like an actual fly... I agree with you all. Trying to make live-action/CG hybrids is one of the main things that kill these kind of movies. Cute cartoon characters just don't work in a modern, realistic world. Smurfs could have been a decent movie if they would have just stayed in the Smurfs world. It's one of the reasons why I was skeptical when it was rumored that the Lego Movie would have live-action elements as well, but they seem to have decided against that, and surprise surprise, it actually looks like a good movie. If they would make a completely CG movie based on Rescue Rangers, I would be completely on board with it, especially if it was done by Disney Animation Studios, but this way I just don't have as much faith in it. While I do think that Disney will treat it with more respect than the likes of Sony and Fox, I hope that Mandeville will do a better job with this than with the new Muppets movie (which was only okay in my opinion). And speaking of Disney Afternoon shows... Where is the next set of volumes for the DVD releases of these shows?!
  4. So apparently there is a live-action movie based on Chip 'n Dale Rescue Rangers in the works: http://www.hollywood...p-n-dale-676161 For me, this is unsettling news. All live-action adaptions of any kids shows that were popular in the 80's and 90's have been varying degrees of terrible as of late, no matter how much money they made. I didn't care much for franchises like Transformers, Smurfs, or Scooby Doo when I was a kid, so it was easy for me to dismiss those awful movies. However, the Disney Afternoon is something that is very dear to my heart and I would hate for them to ruin one of my favorite childhood TV shows. Of course there is a lot of potential for a good movie here, but while Walt Disney Animation Studios has been making a return to producing good films, Disney's latest live-action adaptions have unfortunately been passable at best and with Hollywood "raping everyone's childhood" the way I see this movie turning out is as a Alvin and the Chipmunks clone with the usual moronic humor, bad CGI, and pointless celebrity voices. I really, really, really hope I'm wrong and I will try to stay optimistic until I actually see a trailer, but it seems like the most likely outcome. On the other hand, if this means that I will finally get those Rescue Rangers Lego sets I've been wanting since I was a kid, bring it on! If you ask me, Gummy Bears or Gargoyles would have been much better choices for a live-action adaption, especially the latter, but I digress. What are your thoughts on this?
  5. Wow, I was thinking about making a MOC just like this with a very similar Firefly design, and here you are putting my dreams into reality once again! I agree that it looks a little cluttered (probably due to the bridge being too small) and I think that Firefly's equipment is a bit more bulky than it should be, but otherwise great work.

  7. Not bad, but I personally like my version much better. Yeah, that's the first thing I thought of when I saw that Nightwing too. The Foot Soldier head doesn't work at all unfortunately. I just tried it and the eyes peek out under the nose and all you see in the eye slits is a bit of the red headband. I think the only head that will do the trick is the Symbiote Spider-Man head. I tried the cowl on Venom and it looks pretty good (except for the mouth of course, which looks creepy as heck on Batman).
  8. The Gamestop preorder here in the US comes with Western Emmett and a movie voucher of $7.50. The Wild West DLC pack with the pants is exclusive to preorders from GAME in the UK as far as I know. The pants are skins that give you special abilities in the game, not real Lego pieces.
  9. For those who are interested, here is an interesting Making of The Lego Movie, including some nice shots of Metalbeard's Sea Cow: The hype is killing me!
  10. Yeah, what's up with all the spam in the Licensed forum recently? I have been observing this for about a week now. The topics are always from the same person, this "mumbo jumbo specialist baba", and today was especially extreme where he posted 20 topics with two different accounts. Isn't there a way for the admins to trace the origin of all these accounts and ban that person/computer for good? I'm not saying that the admins are doing a bad job or anything; in the contrary. I'm just curious as I have never seen such a persistent spam attack here before.
  11. Hi, welcome to EB. The store that your friend got this from probably had this custom made as I don't think it is an official Lego product. It doesn't have the copyright mark and I have never seen it before. They probably used it to highlight the Lego section of their store or something. But I could be wrong. Neat sign though. Also, this probably should have been posted in the General Discussion or Community forum.
  12. So according to Brickset there is going to be a Juniors TMNT set... I wonder what it will include. Probably just a Foot Soldier and Mikey in some kind of vehicle and a bit of scenery.
  13. That's actually a good question. Ever since I got this set I've been wondering what I could do with these bricks and haven't found much use for them. Same with the metallic silver pieces in the Turbocar Chase set. These metallic parts are just too rare and have too little variety to build anything significant out of them, plus they don't mesh well with the usual more cartoony Lego colors. However, this does not mean that you can't do anything with them. Experienced builders have made some great MOCs using these bricks, such as ACPin's Golden Pyramid! Unfortunately no. They sold them again last year, but they have since been clearanced out. You could ask your local Lego Store if they still have some or you could just wait and hope that they will have them again this holiday season. By the way, here is an example of how you can make your own ornament using these baubles: Fett Xmas Bauble 2.0 by Oky - Space Ranger, on Flickr
  14. No, rare/hard-to-find means that it's limited edition and only available at a certain time and place or under a special condition.
  15. Basically, yes, but his head is exclusive to this set I believe. Also, Grumlo is basically regular Grumlo with slightly different armor.
  16. I think so far we only know of Western Emmett, Pyjamas Emmett, TC-4, and Grumlo, plus whatever they will give out at SDCC and with pre-orders of LEGO The Hobbit: The Videogame.
  17. Not sure I get the reference... Anyway, here are some new ones: Don't Judge Him By His Size by Oky - Space Ranger, on Flickr Strange Kisses by Oky - Space Ranger, on Flickr Darth Chickenlegs by Oky - Space Ranger, on Flickr
  18. Yeah, I'm sure that would go over well with the censors of the Disney Princess brand. Same goes for a scene of her laying semi-dead in a coffin. I don't think this is realistic either since I don't think they would ever mix minidolls and minifigures. Quite frankly, the only way I can see TLG making a Snow White set is a System version of the Duplo set, much like they did with the Ariel and Cinderella sets. It would be a small set like the Merida one and include Snow White, the facade of the cottage, some furniture, and three woodland critters such as the Lego Friends bunny, fawn, and bird. They could expand it to a full cottage doll house with all the dwarfs, but they'd probably be new molds. Some other ideas: Sleeping Beauty's Tower - similar to Rapunzel's Tower, but with Aurora, Prince Philip, and maybe the fairies. Beast's Castle - a large playset with the ballroom, the dinner table, the fireplace, the forbidden West Wing, and Belle's room. Includes Belle, a Hulk-like Beast, Lumière, Cogsworth, and Mrs. Potts. Magic Carpet Ride - Includes Jasmine, Aladdin, Carpet, Abu, and Jasmine's tower. Pocahontas' Forest Adventures - Includes Pocahontas, John Smith, Meeko, Flit, Grandmother Willow, a waterfall, and a canoe. Mulan's Garden - A Chinese pavilion with Mulan, Mushu, and maybe Li Shang. Tiana's Restaurant - Tiana with a kitchen and some furniture and frog prince Naveen. Elsa's Snow Castle - a small castle made out of lots of trans-clear and light blue bricks with Elsa, Anna, Olaf, and maybe Kristoff and Sven.
  19. So Marvel released the opening scene of the short film All Hail The King that will be included in the Thor: The Dark World home release today: Say what you will about the whole Mandarin fiasco, but more Ben Kingsley is never a bad thing in my opinion. Plus there are supposedly several hints at future Marvel films in that short. Perhaps the fact that he is imprisoned in Seagate prison, the place where Luke Cage was created in the comics, could be one of them? As for AoS, yeah, it's a pretty disappointing show, especially being made by Whedon. The last two episodes had a nice dark tone to them and sort of answered some questions though, so I guess it might be improving...
  20. Haha! Those penguin funnies are great, especially the last one! How so? Thanks! Hopefully you'll like these new ones too: Killians Secret by Oky - Space Ranger, on Flickr Bard Turner by Oky - Space Ranger, on Flickr Gollum Arms by Oky - Space Ranger, on Flickr
  21. It seems my suspicions were correct. After Hulk, Cap, and Falcon turned out pretty much how they looked in the Avengers Assembled Lego variant comic cover I figured we'd eventually get a Wolverine that looks like this too. I like it. The Sentinel does look a bit silly with that long R2-D2 head and it looks a bit small, but kudos to the designers for making a Sentinel with so few parts. I'm a little disappointed that we're getting Magneto again, but at least he seems to be a new variant too. Let's hope the set comes with at least two more X-Men. And I don't get the hate for the Duplo sets either. They look quite cute, although Bobskink's customs were better as they didn't look so young. It's not like they affect the System line in any way or are inappropriate for young children. They just depict Batman happily cruising around in his vehicles while the Joker blows bubbles. If they depicted some of the darker stories in the Bat-mythos or included characters like Green Lantern that we haven't seen in System sets yet, I could understand the anger, but I'm perfectly fine with what we have seen so far. In fact, this might be good news as it could mean that they are moving the Batman and Superman centric sets to Duplo and Juniors and will focus more on the rest of the DC Universe in the System sets, but that's just wishful thinking.
  22. Neat! Thanks Peppermint_M! I'll send you my address now.
  23. I agree, they really should start doing this, especially now that they have (re)done most of Batman's major villains, allies, and vehicles. Sets like the Aquaman and Flash sets were already a step in the right direction, except they should have used new DC villains instead of new variations of Bat-villains. Of course I would prefer it if they ditched Batman completely, especially now that they are resorting to silly variations like Arctic and Scuba Batman and to stupid vehicles like Penguin's Duckmobile and whatever the heck that flying thing in the Steamroller set is (I refuse to call it a Batwing). They have clearly run out of ideas for Batman sets, so I really hope they focus more on the rest of the DC Universe from now on. I understand that sets with Batman sell better, so if they need to throw Batman into the sets to sell them, so be it, but please Lego, give us something other than Bat-villains and -vehicles already! Sorry for that little rant, but I'm just really disappointed with the DC side of Lego Super Heroes so far. EDIT: Oh, and as for the Duplo sets, if they turn out anything like Bobskink's creation, I look forward to seeing them.
  24. Thanks! And yes, it was. Would be great to see you making funnies again!
  25. Great build! I like the use of SNOT and the greebling on the bar. It didn't even look like Lego at first glance, more like one of those action figure playsets, and it makes me want to play out the scenes from the movie with it. Well done.
