  1. Great! Thanks! But it would be better if there was a sale like that in a store where they have a wider selection of sets than Kmart. I mean, come on, even their online selection is poor!
  2. Hm, I see... Well, it's hard to not have your judgment influenced by which trilogy or EU you like best, but I think I'll vote for Clone Wars sets. Sure, I like the PT and CW in general better than OT or EU, but the CW has also given us the best sets. They are usually more detailed and have more playability. And although some may not like their cartoonish style, the CW minifigs are much more accurate to their originals than minifigs from the other subthemes because they are much less a caricature of their originals. And best of all: All CW sets are minifig scale! Many OT sets, especially the latest ones, are UCS. I like UCS sets - but only to look at them. They are fragile, have almost no playability, and have a pretty monotone build and piece selection most of the time. Most of the minifig scale OT sets are the ones made in the first waves of Lego SW, back when sets weren't designed all that well. These are the reasons why I don't like the OT sets. I can't say much about EU sets since we have only had one so far - the Rogue Shadow. In general, I'm not a big fan of EU because most of the time (especially anything that happens outside the time frame of the movies) it just doesn't feel quite like SW to me somehow.
  3. Me too! Since a lot of flyer from the first 2 waves featured propellers that kept them in the air, I'm really hoping for some sort of airship that is supposed to be kept in the air by turbines like the aircraft carriers in Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow!

    Tower Raid

I thought that someone might bring this up. However there are two good reasons why I chose such floors: Each floor is supposed convey a different theme and mood. The color of the ground is meant to help to set that mood. These are the only 8x8 plates that I have available at the moment. But I will take that suggestion in consideration when I redesign my entry. Good point. I was actually thinking about doing something exactly like that when building this, but for some reason I decided against it. But you are right, it would be a nice addition to this. Since this is supposed to be a tower now (and not a house), I could change the roof (which looks stupid and boring anyway) to a more castle-style tower roof when I redesign my entry. Then I could put a pirate and a falling civilian there like you said! I hope that the pirate sets will come into a store near me before the contest is over so that I can have real Red-coats in my entry!
  5. Me? I'm honored, but why exactly me? What do I have to do with this? No. I think it was a Venator-Class Republic Star Destroyer. And I don't think that you need Jim's approval to bomb that one tower. However, I'm not sure how smart that would be since, since that might blow our cover. Besides, the deflector shield of the base is still up, so how are you going to bomb it? Btw, I have added a pic to this post from Chapter 3 where Annix and I faced Beqin in the core ship wreckage on Hoth, so that I have posted at least one pic in that chapter as the rules of this game require it. As co-leader, I need to make a good example. I might add another pic for that chapter since I have made a mini replica of MacK's white freighter a while ago, but never got around to make pics with it.

    Tower Raid

Vig. 45d I have finally found the time to take some pics of my small entry and upload them! This is an entry that shows the brutality of a pirate attack while maintaining a sense of humor. Initially, it was supposed to be a simple house, but then it turned out much taller than expect, so I called it a tower. The pirates are pillaging the tower, leaving death, destruction, and despair! :pir-skull: An Overview: NOTE: This is an updated version! Read on to see what changes I have made! Ground Floor: This pirate has stolen a chest with valuable content after cutting off the legs of the owner and is about to leave with it, while the owner is lying on the floor, bleeding to death. His face has already lost its color due to the blood loss. 1st Floor: This poor devil has been locked into a room that the pirates have set on fire. Not a smart move by the pirates since there are still some of them in rooms above this one. Most of the room is burned down; the only remains are the victim's bones, the table that he was sitting at, and his golden goblet. Click here to see a close up of this floor. NOTE: I have changed the floor color from dark puple to dark red and added some more fire and ash spots to the floor. Also, I exchanged the quills with a goblet. 2nd Floor: Here, a pirate bursts into a room which turns out to be someone's bathroom. The Briton who is bathing there is shocked! NOTE: I didn't change much in this room since it was already received so well the first time around and any additions seemed somewhat too much. I only added some splashes of water on the floor to fill the emptiness of the floor and exchanged the pirate's clothes with those of the pirate from the Cannon Battle set. 3rd Floor: In this scene, a pirate has climbed into the room through the balcony, dropped his gun, and is now chasing a young maiden with naughty intentions! NOTE: I added a fruit bowl to the small table to add some more detail. I also covered the floor with white tiles and a red "carpet" to cover up the olive green color that some of you didn't like. And I included a weapon for the pirate. 4th Floor: In the top most room, a Red-coat is trying to defend his wife and home against one of the pirates. The two engage in a duel, while the poor spouse watches in awe. She was so shocked when the pirate entered that she dropped her glass of milk, which is now spilling its contents over the floor. NOTE: As you can see, the major change I have done to this room is to raise the ceiling and have a chandelier hanging from it. And to make the floor look less empty, I have added the spilling glass of milk. The Roof: On the roof of the tower, Captain Whitebeard and his first mate Smith have cornered an imperial soldier. Being the leaders of the pirate crew, they have reached the top of the tower first. Before the poor soldier can defend himself, the captain shoots him in the stomach. The soldier stumbles backwards and falls over the battlement, plummeting to his death. Oh the humanity! The only witnesses of this event are a parrot and someone who is hiding in a barrel nearby. The Exterior: I have also tried to make the tower look good from the "outside" as well. Click here to see the exterior and get a better view of the blood that's squirting out of the shot soldier's stomach. Click here for more pics!
  7. Although I'm a big fan of the TimeCruiser line, I voted for the Viking ship because it is very well designed, has many useful parts, and fits very well into its own theme! I don't own it, but I sure like the looks of it. On a side note, the Fire Nation ship is actually not a sailing ship and should not be included in the poll IMHO. And if this poll was to be updated, I would definitely add the Troll Warship! Also, shouldn't 3050: Shanghai Surprise be part of this poll as well?
  8. You know, this set could be useful in a town layout as well! As one of those big adventure playgrounds! That's what this set reminds me of. Sigh... Good ol' childhood...
  9. Wait a minute... Since when are Will and 8P-4C with Pr0 and JD? Did I miss something?
  10. Thanks for the neat review! This set is the most unapealing of all the new Pirate sets to me. Aside from the figs and some accessories, it doesn't have anything too interesting to offer for an AFOL, and is therefore not worth $20 for me. However, it's still a nice, little, pirate-y set, so I voted above average. New Pirates ON!
  11. I'm very curious about the Separatist Shuttle! I hope that it won't be more than $30 and will inlcude the magna guards from Lego world with the printed shoulders! A CW Dooku would be neat too! Dude! An Obi Wan Hologram would be sweet!
  12. All of these, except the last one, have been mentioned already.
  13. Do you want to see some really funny commercials? Check these out: My favorite is the Pepsi Max one in the 2008 compilation! A Night at the Roxburry is sooo funny! But the Bud Light ones are hilarious too!
  14. Clubland Podcast! Because there is no other free way to listen to some good Eurodance here in America. Keep Clubbin'!
  15. Nice Review, thanks! In fact, it's so good that it makes me think over my plans of only buying multiple impulse sets and consider just getting this set instead. It comes with all the minifigs you could ask for, and a whole buch of useful parts! And $40 seems quite alright for such a set. I always wanted one of those bridge pieces, and you just gotta love that Pirate chick! Just one question, though. Do I see right that there is only one of the new telescope pieces in this set? New Pirates ON!
  16. EDIT: Never mind.
  17. No. You and BPac are alone on Commander Gree's RGS, near the destroyed communications outpost, as I have already said a few hours ago. Pay attention, dammit!
  18. I'm confused. Is this thread asking which stories we like best, or which Lego sets? If it's the latter, I'm even more confused, because there isn't really any EU set, except for the Rogue Shadow maybe. However, if it's the first choice, this thread clearly doesn't belong into this forum. In that case, do you want me to make a poll about this in the right forum, Dark Brickz?
  19. Too bad indeed. But I guess it's better than nothing, and at least it's confirmed now. So which sales do we know about now? The ISD for $59.99 at Target The Big Toy Book sales in TRU The 10/20/50 dollar off surprise sale at Lego Stores Anything else?
  20. Wrong, Adam. It's only me and present JD who are taking out the turret - and apparently some Snipers. The rest of you (which includes Garviel I think) is waiting for us. There are only few exceptions: Pr0 and future JD, who are on the way to you. Commander Bob and his troops, who are getting ready to enter the planet. William Jones and 8P-4C, who are just about to leave the destroyed communications outpost and fly to one of the Venators, I think. So it would be good if you could delete your post or change it drastically. It doesn't make much sense right now. Pr0, Adam is right, you are really being a jerk to anyone around you. Please change this behavior! About killing people off: Once Jim has made it official that a character can be killed off, anyone can do the honors! It shouldn't be so hard to destroy the Venator with Skipper on it since it has been heavily damaged ever since its shields broke down. :pir-skull: And now, without any further ado, I'll take out the AA turret so that you guys have something to do again. I'm just gonna ignore your post for now, Adam, ok? JD, your one arm is green because it was wrapped into bandages made out of leafs by me. Oky Wan tuned his comlink into the frequency of the snipers' comlinks. He asked their leader: "Team leader Fox Charlie, this is Oky Wan Kenobi. We can only see two of the droids that you reported. The other two are on the other side of the tower. I need you to take those other two out." "Yes, Sir!" Oky and JD waited while the snipers aimed at the two droids behind the tower. Then, without much noise, two laser bolts shot out of the trees nearby and hit the SBDs that were out of Oky's sight. The droids fell over and hit the ground with loud clanking noises. Then, just as Oky planned it, the other two SBDs walked around the building to check out the situation. Oky told the team leader: "Once the clankers come around, blast 'em!" "Yes, Sir!" And so, after the two droids had disappeared behind the building, there were some more shots, and the tower was finally unguarded. Let's move!" said Oky Wan to JD, and they both leaped out of the bushes. They ran over to the door, and after Oky tinkered around with the control pad a little, they were inside the tower. They climbed up the ladder and with a few shots, they took out the two BD gunners. Oky Wan walked over to the controls played around with them for a while. After a minute, he paused. JD could see on Oky's face that something was wrong. "What is it?" he asked. "The turrets," said Oky, "they're being controlled individually, not from a central computer. I was hoping we could shut them all down at once, but it looks like we will have to take them down one at a time!" "So what? No big deal. We can do that." said JD relaxed. "No, we don't have time for that!" said Oky Wan frustrated. "You don't understand... The separatists are building a secret weapon inside that base, and they should be done any moment now! We need to take these turrets out now!" JD thought about it for a minute, then he burst out: "Wait a minute! We are inside of a powerful turret! Can't we just use that against the others?" "Hm, you're right" said Oky. "The only thing we need to do is to short circuit the main power source of the turrets' deflector shields." "Then let's get to it!" said JD. Oky ripped out the wires of their turret's shield generator and connected them with some power cables, which resulted in the required short circuit. Through the window, they could see the shields of the other turrets disappear. "Now, show 'em who's boss!" Oky Wan told JD. JD got behind the controls and aimed their AA guns at the other turrets. The massive shots blew them all to pieces. "Jim Butcher, come in! This is Oky Wan! The coast is clear, I repeat: The coast is clear!" Btw, Adam, are you gonna continue/finish the whole black-haired dark Jedi story any time soon?
  21. But WHY??? Arrgh! I give up. If you're so sure about this, you should mention it in the Batman 09 thread. Back on topic, what kind of weapon(s) (if any) do you think will the Space Patrol have? The classic long blaster/video camera thing perhaps?
  22. No, I mean how do you know that they lost the license? Or does the "I think" apply to that too? In that case, what makes you think that?
  23. Are you sure? I thought TLC wasn't going to make any Temple of Doom sets because it has a too dark theme. The sets sound neat though.
  24. Sounds promissing! This first two sound kinda odd, but I can't wait for the last two! Really? How do you know this?
  25. I saw Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa last weekend. It was pretty good. It had more story than the last one: 1 main plot about Alex reuniting with his family and a couple of side plots. The main plot felt a lot like that of Lion King, which makes you think if this was an intended reference or not. The side plots are all quite allright. The whole movie was fun, but I think I liked the first one better because the plot was more original and the gags funnier.
