  1. I don't see why discussing starstreak's particular method needs its own thread, but if this is a general thread about collecting & discussing ideas on how to strategically find a Chrome Vader, I guess this is a good thread. I'm guessing shaking the box is a good method, especially if it's a BP. If there is an extra bag with a chrome Vader in there, you should be able to hear less rattling than in other boxes. Others suggested difference in weight. This makes sense, I guess, even though the difference would be minimal. And I doubt that anyone would walk into a toy store with a scale in their hand. Besides, I don't think the store owners would allow anyone to weigh every single set in their store. I can't really think of anything else. Nothing plausible at least.
  2. Has anyone ever considered using these for storage? Would be kinda cool IMO.
  3. Not really. We already have a base, the Fortitude. But if you want, we can hang out at your place for a while at some point.
  4. After watching Storm Over Ryloth, it seems even more strange that they included Buzz droids in this set since there were none in that episode. It could still be that they will appear in some future episode, but even if so, it would be still pretty random to have them in the set. I mean, it doesn't even make sense for them to be there. Where the heck are they supposed to have come from? They only come out of Tri-Droids, and there is no Tri-Droid in the set OR the episode (or the entire first season of the show for that matter). Therefore, it's pretty clear that these were only included to drive the already outrageous price even higher. However, this set is growing on me. I don't have any Buzz droids and only the very first version of the Vulture droid (the blocky Trade Federation one). Also, I don't have any Delta-7 JSF either, and with only slight mods, you can use this JSF for pretty much any Jedi. And I would love to have an R2 unit with green markings! But this still doesn't justify the price for me, and I'm not even sure if I would buy it for HALF the price.
  5. Er, that's not a movie. Such comments should go into the Clone Wars Discussion Thread. Of course, if you post it there, you should say more than "it was OK". Anyway, here are the last two movies I've seen: TAKEN: Not bad, but nothing special. For my taste, it could have used a bit more action since it had so little story. It's entertaining though. Futurama - Into the Wild Green Yonder: This was actually pretty good! It felt much more like a Futurama story than the other three movies and was funnier too. It was better than the other movies, but still not quite as good as the show IMHO.
  6. Yeah, and him using the "Bat-fake" nickname from BB was pretty neat too! However, I found it somewhat controversial that he was tempted to trap Batman by simply pushing a button, considering what he said in the TNBA episode "Mad Love" - "Defeating the Bat has to be a masterpiece, a triumph of my comic genius over his silly gadgets!" (or something like that). But since this was only about trapping him, and not killing him, I guess it's OK. I loved the Jokermobile btw! I have to MOC this baby some day! I'll have to take your word for it, but yes, I do believe it was quite a treat for fans. Hm... Bathulk? Iron Bat? I thought DC & Marvel were rivals? Oh well, it made for a good ep, so I don't care. That's true. And yes, Cowboy Bebop was one of the better animes. My favorite anime, however, is still Lupin III (if that one can be considered an anime). I'm not dissing it; I'm just saying it was portrayed somewhat strangely. I don't think I ever said that but yes, that is good to hear. That's OK. All the episodes, except the last two, were random stories and had little continuity. I'm glad that Batbrick, Penguin, and I aren't the only EBers to watch this show anymore. @ Batbrick: Btw, I just watched another Batman-teamup STAS episode, "The Demon Reborn". I really liked it! Batsy showed off some cool moves in that ep and Ras Al Ghul (or "Rash" Al Ghul as they call him ) stealing Supes' powers was an interesting story. Kinda makes you wonder (and hope) if Ras will make an appearance in BTBTB. I also wonder what Ras would call himself after getting all of Supes' powers. "Look, up in the sky! It's a bird... It's a plane... It's Super Ras!" The only thing I didn't understand is how Lois knew Batman and knew who he really is. But I'm guessing that this will be explained in the Batman/Superman movie. Am I right?
  7. Yeah! In that fuzzy YouTube vid, it almost looks like she's naked! The same reason why she holds her lightsaber the "wrong" way.
  8. Would be cool if the SW book would come with a little set too! But I doubt it since it is no "Brick Master" book.
  9. What the heck does that story have to do with this thread? Did you laugh at that story too?? Then you are a really bad person. Why don't you tell us why you really taped the opening of that box? It would be easier to believe you if you would. i.e. do you tape every box opening? And while you're at it, you could also explain why you did it in your car.
  10. Something more fashionable than a poncho, I hope. What do you mean? That Ventress should get a new dress too? We haven't seen so much of her, so I didn't get tired of how she looks yet and don't care if her costume changes or not. I agree. As I said before, this episode was the first one that actually felt like a war movie. Admittedly, the force powers Obi demonstrated in this ep were rather rare ones, but if they were truly innovative is questionable. The trick of carefully positioning thermal detonators to take out droids was something he already did in the 2D CW cartoon, so that's nothing really new, just another thing the new series copied from the old one. And him mind-controlling those gutkurr beasts was something we haven't seen a Jedi do before, but we did see Dooku forcing a Weequay pirate to turn against his partner. However, these two actions don't necessarily have to be the same force-power. Dooku could have simply been applying the force on the gun in the pirate's hand instead of controlling him. If they are the same power, though, it would raise questions about if it was right of Obi as a Jedi to use this kind of a power. Then again, it's probably much easier and harmless to control a simple-minded beast than a smart pirate. Well, I wouldn't say that he was a real threat since he got his butt kicked pretty good at the end and lost the battle. If he were a commander who actually scores a victory, THEN he would be a real problem for the Republic. But he is not, which is why it was him leading this mission instead of another organic Separatist commander. This reminds me: There is good news for all CIS-lovers! In the video commentary to Innocents of Ryloth, Filoni admits that he screwed up by having Grievous and the other big separatist baddies loose so much and agrees that they need more victories! This means that we can look forward to some more Separatist victories in the next season, especially from Grievous! Hopefully! It's Die Hard in Space after all! I don't see what's so great about this since those scenes are kinda annoying. But their love is an important part of the main storyline of the PT, so I guess it's kinda overdue that we see them kissing and it's good that they incorporate that now.
  11. 2 Mini Soulless Ones & 3 Mini Torrents from my local Target. I'm so happy! I intend to save one of each to sell them for a high price in a few years.
  12. Lucky! I may be a bit naive, but I believe you that you didn't open it previously to the video shoot. But this makes me wonder how you got this video. I'm guessing you were recording every set you bought this year, hoping to get a Vader, and got lucky this time. Haha! Yeah, right! I don't think ONE minifig (Chrome or not) makes a big difference in the weight, and even if it does, I don't think Starstreak actually measured its weight before opening it.
  13. By "Deal", I actually meant that it's OK and that you don't need to change it if you wont violate that rule again, but... if you like it better like this anyway, that's fine with me.
  14. Good point! Btw, if you don't wanna sound racist, say "Caucasian".
  15. These look very nice. The book about minifigs intrigues me especially, even though I still have the old Lego book. The Brickmaster books aren't bad either, but nothing too special. The pirate one is nice though. I don't think that these two books have anything to do with the Brickmaster subscription as these scans are from a New Zealand catalog, and Brickmaster is only available in the US. Therefore, I think they just call them that for marketing reasons. I'm looking forward to a review of these!
  16. I was talking about the post where you were talking to almost every Jedi master on the council. And don't worry about rule #2. It's not like you're abandoning your Commander Bob character and start playing as Bacara from now on.
  17. Erm, just a question, but... Isn't Bob heavily violating rule #8? He is definitely controlling more than one main character... I'm just saying.
  18. Two more observations: - Looks like Fox will be in this episode! This will be his first appearance in the show (excluding the movie)! - In the scene where Bane shoots, the guy behind Padme looks kinda like Bail Organa! Would be cool if he would become part of the show.
  19. I wholeheartedly agree with you, vulture droid! You make some very good points there! Don't get me started on the new Grievous! He was sooo badass in the old cartoon, but now he's just a little b***h who runs away a lot! The creators of the new show even attempted to rob him of the "grievous" part of his personality by claiming that he actually chose to be an asthmatic cyborg. At least there is an explanation for him saying that (repression); otherwise I would be really angry. Words of wisdom! This new show will never be able to achieve a scene that is as beautifully awesome as this: Of course I don't! As I said, I can understand that, under circumstances, a droid can develop feelings. Artoo & Threepio have been "living" for a long time now and have made a lot of experiences, so they have all reason to have feelings. Besides, they are droids that were made to interact with living beings, unlike the BDs who are meant to be metal soldiers without emotions or personality.
  20. Agreed! I can tolerate some silliness, but these BDs are just taking it too far. It takes the whole menace out of them. What also really bothers me is that, the BDs in The Clone Wars don't act like droids at all. They express feelings, which is a very illogical thing for a robot to do. There are many examples for this. Sometimes, they express sorrow for their fellow BDs, and sometimes they express fear for their own life. I could accept the fact that these droids are so advanced that they developed emotions and personalities if it wouldn't make any sense for the CIS to produce such useless droids. But in the old cartoon, they didn't say a word and were quite efficient. Of course, they were a bit stupid from time to time as well (for example, they ignored an explosive that landed in their midst and ended up being blown up), but that's OK because they are droids after all. So, while remaining the naivety of a droid, they were still an enemy that was hard to beat. One more reason why Tartakovsky's cartoon was better.
  21. In my first Chapter2 post, I have tried to include a bit more character development by having a dramatic argument with JD. Hope you all like it. I'm not sure where I'm going with this, but we'll see. PS: Don't worry, I have discussed this with JD before posting it.
  22. "Yes, my plan..." Jim started to explain. "I thought that we could create a replica of the holocron to fool Dooku and drive him away from Coruscant. We can make him chase us through the galaxy while you try to decode its data." The council members thought about this. Then, Mace Windu said: "It's risky, but if you and your team think you can handle it, you have our permission." "Thanks, master" said Jim and bowed. He, Oky, and JD left the room and split up. While Jim left to have the replica done, Oky and JD made their way back to the Fortitude. Oky still needed to finish the repairs on the ship. It had been heavily damaged on their last mission and it was a miracle that it had been able to fly them back to Coruscant. As they walked, there was an uncomfortable silence, so Oky made an attempt at starting a conversation: "So... quite a rough mission that we had, huh?" JD grunted in agreement. Oky had hoped for a more excited response and didn't know what else to say. There was another awkward pause. Then, Oky made a second attempt: "Isn't it great that we had the chance to meet Anakin Skywalker, The Chosen One? I am so proud to have been on a mission with him! He is such a talented Jedi!" He looked at JD and saw him staring at him with the most angry face. Apparently, Oky had said the worst possible thing he could have said in that moment. "You are a big, fat fool, you know that! Skywalker isn't as great as you think!" JD shouted at him. "What the hell is the matter with you!" said Oky offended. "You have been acting really strange lately, especially in the last few hours! And what's wrong with Skywalker? He is the best, most skilled Jedi I know!" JD sighed: "If you must know, he will doom the whole galaxy one day! He is going to kill all Jedi and many others. He will become The Dark Lord of the Sith!" Oky was deeply shocked. After regaining control over his speech, he said: " How... How could you say that?!" "Er - Hello! I'm from the future. I've seen it!" Oky shook his head: "No... No, that... that can't be!... You're lying! You're just jealous of Skywalker!" JD couldn't believe his ears. "Jealous!?! At him? Are you crazy?!" "No - You are! You'll see; Anakin Skywalker is going to become one of the best Jedi ever!!!" And with that, Oky stormed off in rage toward the Fortitude, leaving a speachless JD standing in the street.
  23. Alright, everyone, just to get this straight: The holocron (click the link if you don't know what a holocron is) that we stole from Dooku does not have any powers! It does not "suck the force out of everything" or something, and Dooku does not seek to "harness its power"! The Xonohr relic (which is a completely different thing) on the other hand, may have such powers, and that's what Dooku is ultimately after. The main purpose of that relic, though, is to enhance the darkside force powers of a Sith/Jedi, which is why Sidious wants it. But our characters don't know that yet. Where this relic is is unknown! However, the holocron is a device that is believed to hold information about the whereabouts of the Xonohr relic, and since Dooku needs this info to find the relic, he'll be after it first. Got it? PS: If you must know, this is the issue I needed to sort out with Jim at the beginning of the Chapter.
  24. They are both pretty good, but I think the first one was better. It connected Ep. II and Ep. III very nicely and had a good continuity, whereas the new one is simply a random collection of stories from somewhere in the middle of the clone wars. The first series was much more innovative in many ways than the new one. It had a very original style which the new show tries to copy by adapting it into 3D. Also, it introduced a lot of new characters (Durge, Grievous, Ventress, etc.) whereas the new show only took those characters from the first show and just keeps adding stories to them and only introduces a lame, new Neimodian General/Captain every now and then. And the only new good guys that the new series has produced (Ahsoka, Rota, the Lurmen, etc.) aren't half as popular with fans than any of the characters from the first cartoon were. The first series even had some new costume (Obi's half-clone-armor-half-jedi-robe outfit, ARC Troopers, SCUBA Trooper, etc.) and vehicle designs (Azure Angel, CR-20 troop carrier, Seismic tank, Fanblade starfighter, etc.) which are also simply being copied (if used at all) by the new show. And even though the new show has introduced some new vehicles and ships as well, most of them are nothing all that new and are only redesigns of already existing ships. As for storytelling, the first show had some very good character development, especially with Anakin, who went from good-hearted Padawan to angsty Jedi Knight. But the only character development I have seen in the new show is the individualization of the clones and Ahsoka learning a few lessons in becoming a responsible Jedi. The worst part is that the new show creates canon that often contradicts with the canon set by the first show and other EU, resulting in inaccuracy and confusion. The action of the first show is kind of debatable as it was over-the-top and could be considered unrealistic, whereas the new show has relatively realistic action. However, since they both are cartoons (which are never completely realistic!) and since over-the-top action is more fun than "realistic" action in my opinion, I find the old show more enjoyable. Plus, the old show didn't have Jar Jar! In conclusion, Genndy Tartakovsky's SW: Clone Wars was much more innovative, had much more intense action, and much better character development. And considering that it achieved all that in a series that is only two hours long in total, I think that it's a true masterpiece and rather superior to the new The Clone Wars! The new series is quite enjoyable nevertheless, though. PS: Somebody should add a poll for this!
