  1. I must say that I have to agree with pedro. I too was rather puzzled about the closing of that topic and while I'm sure that you had a good reason to close it, it would have been nice to give the other members at least a hint about why it was closed. It would avoid confusion and help us to understand what type of topics are unwanted on this forum. And on a side note, I'm getting a rather negative vibe from you, Stash. Making one-word comments like "No" and comments that basically say "that's none of your business" make you sound somewhat rude. That might just be due to the fact that this is the internet where things tend to sound more negative than they should, but I'm just saying how I feel.
  2. Why not a white light brick or PF (Power Functions) lights as I said?
  3. Have you ever considered that it might be custom? (That's what I'm pretty sure it is). Nice job, pedro, especially on the design of the speeder and the photoshopping. The concept doesn't exactly appeal to me as I think that Jedi are individuals, not a generic faction that you could buy multiple BPs of, but I must say that for what it is, it's very well executed. I would have included some more hair pieces for variety, but otherwise it's perfect.
  4. Thanks for this in-depth review, Inconspicuous! I still think that TLG did a horrible job at recreating this vehicle though (click here to see why). I have only seen one blurry pic of the new Tri-Fighter, but I already know that I prefer it any day over this poor excuse of a set. The only things that save it from being "Poor" are the price-per-parts ratio and the (for now) exclusive figs. Great review, but like in the other review, I think some comparison pics with the "real thing" would have been good.
  5. Well, as the motto of this contest is "Design the Battle Pack of your dreams", I guess there's nobody who could tell you that you can't include a main character if that's what your dream BP is. Just keep in mind that people who think that this isn't a "proper BP" might not vote for it. Your call.
  6. There usually aren't any large sets in the January wave, remember? Those are always in the summer wave, so I'm guessing there will be a $100 set in the TS3 line. Not sure what you're trying to say, but if you zoom in closely on this pic, you can see a break on the hood. I see your point about the 2x4 tiles, Rick, but I still don't think that that's what they are. TLG usually only produces a new piece only when they think they can't really do it otherwise. For example, they created the 6x6 tile for the Venator because it was the exact size that they needed for the sticker and needed something that would be stable enough to keep the plates together. However, for this situation there are several possibilities, all of which would work perfectly well, so there's no need for a new, piece. Or at least that's how I see it. I don't want another <insert that tiresome argument> piece. Hehe, yeah, I'm playing with the thought of making some brickfilms with these as well. Well, it's generally January, but I'm guessing/hoping they will pop up around Christmas already, as January sets tend to do.
  7. Wow. The last few pages were some of the most pointless I have ever seen. Where are KimT and Stash2Sixx when you need 'em? In a desperate attempt to get back on topic: Uhm, yeah, I am 99% sure that's an imperial officer. You can see the 4x8 plate ending in front of his feet, so it can't be part of the gun, and what good would a BP with only 3 figs be?
  8. Yeah, I have such dreams too, where I am in a toy store where I find sets that haven't even been heard of. Or sometimes I dream that I get a whole bunch of Lego gifted to me. But I always wake up before I can open them. One of those dreams included Disney/Pixar sets. I guess some dreams do come true. These dreams always make me feel pretty geeky/childish but it's good to know I'm not alone.
  9. Unlikely. They're probably just 2x2's connected by a 2x2 plate in the back.
  10. Thanks for the info, Fenson, but where did you get those prices from? I would be very happy if the "Constraction Figures" will really be only $25! But $40 for the spaceship? That seems too much for a set that seems to mostly consist of a big windshield, a big round airplane roof piece, and some plates. Oh well, we'll see. Well, there are certain similarities.
  11. Not bad, but not great either. Dooku shouldn't be in a BP of course, and it's better to keep a BP focused on one faction, so you should probably exchange him with another clone or jedi. Also, the platform the clone is standing on seems somewhat pointless. If it had some kind of play feature, like a catapult mechanism or a secret compartment or something, it would be much better. This needs improvement, but it's a good start.
  12. Absolutely not! Thanks for the pics, dragonboy79! Looks like there is a specialized piece on Zurg's head after all, but most of his head is still brick-built. Why do you guys think that the Army Men will be 13 USD? Both the Star Wars BPs and Ambush in Cairo are 10.99 USD, so why would this be any different?
  13. Hm. That is a bit tough. The AT-AT is a much better set than the Home One (come on - It's motorized!), but its minifigs are nothing special, especially considering the upcoming Hoth BPs, whereas the Home One figs are top-notch. I'd go with the AT-AT since it will likely be discontinued soon and hope that the Home One goes on sale some time, or that they make a magnet set with some of the figs. This is easier. I'd definitely go for the Tantive. It may be more expensive, but it's that much better as a set. It is detailed and very accurate (aside from the underscaled-ness). It looks great from the outside and comes with lots of useful parts whereas the Venator doesn't look all that good and consists of Technic pieces and grey plates. Sure, the Artoo and Threepio figs come with the upcoming landspeeder too, but the awesome Antilles and Leia figs don't.
  14. Well, he might be flying one at one point, but according to the game Clone Wars: Republic Heroes Bane's ship is 'The Sleight of Hand': Which is even more disappointing IMO as it looks like the Twilight without wings.
  15. Just saw it too. Very good animation and direction. I'm looking forward to more work from Acker. I liked all the references to the shortfilm, and For one who has seen the short and maybe some of the clips from the movie, there aren't many surprises, but it's still a very enjoyable movie.
  16. May I ask why you think that we need an extra thread for this? I mean, it's great that you're so excited for it and all, but why couldn't we just keep it all in one thread? And what does that last link have to do with anything? Other than that, yes, it does look pretty good, but I'm still quite skeptic about this movie. I liked the cartoon for what it was, but I'm not sure if I will be able to like a live-action adaption. Cartoons are always better. Thanks for the pics of the cast and set.
  17. Well, this is different though. There are no WW specific pieces returning. Just one licensed WW-themed set which consists completely of parts that you can find in other current sets. I don't think that just because they made this one WW set for this theme means that we will see a whole WW theme soon. In fact, it wouldn't even make sense for them to release this set and then release basically the same set again, just without the licensed figs. And just for the record, Woody's Round Up, including all the buildings seen in the set, was seen in TS2. It was the set of the black & white TV show Woody starred in. It's a green stretcher. Yeah, that would be cool, even though GG's usual cape is a different color. But I doubt it's long enough, because GG is pretty tall, whereas Zurg is barely as tall as Sandy's Rocket. Speaking of which, Zurg's piece cound should be about the same as that of the rocket, so here's to hoping that the set will be $30 instead of $40 as I feared. However, Buzz may still be $40.
  18. He still got his butt whooped though, with no one assisting Siddy. Slow - but powerful! If I were him, I wouldn't be scared of a troubled little boy either. He is just starting to become a bounty hunter at this point and probably can't do jack.
  19. As I have pointed out before, Zurg's head is not molded. It's brick-built. So, aside from the minifigs, Giant Buzz' head is the only special piece in this line. And they could make a Rancor if they wanted to, just like they did with the tauntaun and might do with the wampa next year, but they don't want to - yet. I could see a revamped Jabba's palace set being released in a few years, perhaps for the anniversary of ROTJ. But that's getting off-topic.
  20. Some very good points. Besides, there is always the PAB on S@H.
  21. I'm sure it was just a pretend-worried expression. He did it to make his point of needing better equipment - and money. I know what you mean, but frankly, I don't think even the coolest bounty hunter is a match for a Sith lord. Remember how Han couldn't even harm Vader in ESB? Of course Han isn't an experienced, cold blooded bounty hunter, but still. I mean, come on, Sidious defeated Mace Windu for crying out loud! Admittedly, he had help, but still, if he can take on the best Jedi master ever*, a bounty hunter shouldn't be a threat to him. *Yoda is very good too, but Windu is better in lightsaber duel, making him the best IMO.
  22. Not a good idea IMO. TRU always inflates Lego prices, and PAB is expensive enough as it is. Plus Big Cam is right: Aside from exclusives and an outstanding variety of sets, PAB is what makes Lego Stores so special.
  23. Actually, I don't think the spaceship includes an alien. There wasn't one in the prelim box art. Sure, there is one standing next to the ship in the D23 pic, but I think that's just a gathering of all the different minifigs of the line, like at toy fair. Of course this could still change (I hope it does; I want at least three aliens). We'll see. And yellost is right. Buzz lazer simply consists of a flick fire and a stickered/printed slope.
  24. Woah! Calm down! I'm sorry I was "snarky" but I found your post rather useless, and I was kind of in a hurry when I wrote it, which is why it came out so rude. But come on, did you even think about the fact that you're actually the one not contributing anything to this topic when you started this rant? To answer your questions: Yes, I am that technical. That's why they call me Mr. Discuss It All. In fact, yes, I would have loved to know what your thoughts on the shows you listed are, and I'm sure Peppermint M and a few others do as well. Even if some of those thoughts are the same as those of another person, it would have been at least nice to see how many people share those opinions about those shows. But if you don't care to share, fine. That's all you had to say. Yes, you have posted your fave cartoons, but not posted ABOUT them. Well, I was hoping to make you see how pointless your post was and perhaps get you to add to it, but I guess it just made you rant on and on. That's the point: there was nothing for me to comment on. The only thing I could have said is "Oh, I like that show too" or "Meh, I don't like that one", but I already talked about the shows I like, and it would have been too negative for me to talk about the ones I don't. No, I do not wish to be a moderator, nor regulate anyone. I was simply trying to get you to elaborate your post, but simply expressed myself wrong, and I apologize for that. But replying with a big rant doesn't make you any better than me, if I may say so. I don't care how "adult" you are; that post didn't add much that was "relevant and applicable to the topic at hand". It didn't tell us anything but the mere fact that you like those shows. It didn't even tell us which you prefer. There fore, it would have been nice if you would have elaborated a little bit. That's all I was trying to say. Again, I am sorry for having been so rude, but please follow your own advice and keep this topic free of off-topic rants. I'm not trying to mini-mod here, just asking you for a favor. If you do wish to continue this discussion, let's do it via PM. Now that's much better. That's something we can discuss, comment on, or agree/disagree with. I think very much like you, which is why I am a big Disney fan. I agree that most cartoons can't be compared with each other, and I often get inspired by the cartoons I like, whether it's for MOCs or my own animation work. And I think we all have some cartoons that are "bad" by today's standards, but which we still cherish as good childhood memories. See? That's much better, isn't it? So, let's forget our past differences and keep posting in such a constructive manner.
  25. What specialized pieces? There is only Buzz' head and helmet, and maybe Zurg's cape. The helmet could be used as a glass dome in buildings or spaceships. The cape could be used as a sail perhaps. The only really specialized thing is Buzz' head, and who cares if there is ONE piece that can't be reused? True, but still... IT"S PURPLE!!! His head is a 4x4 cone with some other bits and pieces on it by the way.
