  3. OK, so CN seems to be taking a break from airing new episodes (for whatever reason), let's take the time to look back at the recent episodes. How is everyone liking Season 2 so far? I thinks it's pretty good. There are still episodes there are kinda "meh" but those are getting more and more rare. Here are my quick thoughts on the individual episodes: "Long Arm of the Law!": One of the Meh episodes. I'm not a big fan of Plastic Man, and his nemesis, Kite Man, has got to be one of the lamest villains ever. You gotta admire all the cliche superhero story elements which have been littered throughout this episode, and the way Bats just left the picture at the end was classic. "Revenge of the Reach!": One word: EPIC! Blue Beetle is one of my favorite characters on this show, and he was really kicking butt in this episode! I loved! Too bad the Lantern Core got defeated so easily though. You would have expected them to be able to put up a better fight. Oh well. "Death Race to Oblivion!": Loved this one as well! I always like these types of combat races, and having one with Bats, Joker, and the gang was simply delightful! Did not see the ending coming either. Really nice episode. "Aquaman's Outrageous Adventure!": If you know me, you will already know what I think of this episode. Not only did it star a bored Aquaman, but even had a Uranus joke as well. The only thing this episode was good for for me was to see Pengi again, and spotting some familiar DC cities on the map. "The Golden Age of Justice!": This was a nice one. It had a good amount of drama, humor, and action, and a villain to be reckoned with. "That's senior citizen to you, whippersnapper!" "Clash of the Metal Men!": This one was also meh. There were a lot of things that didn't make sense, and the way Bats survived at the end was just cheesy. "A Bat Divided!": Pretty good. I liked the classic showdown with the Riddler at the beginning, and Firestorm seems to be an interesting character. And even though I'm not sure if he is really a part of Batman's personality, that slacker Bats was hilarious. Looking forward to seeing more of Firestorm. "Sidekicks Assemble!": This was also very enjoyable! I especially liked how similar Ras was to his BTAS version. But why is Speedy such a nerd? Also, even though I know they were going for a comical tone, I just can't accept that Batman was the one to come up with "Nightwing" and that robin's departure was under such lighthearted circumstances. That whole situation was just too happy and too far from what they showed in BTAS. But I'll get over it. Overall, this is shaping up to be a great season, and if the Wikipedia description are to be trusted, the best episodes are still to come. I can't wait for "The Reign of Emperor Joker!" I'm too thrilled about the Shazam and Doom Patrol episodes though. Considering that the Brain is just a gay know-it-all Frenchman who is rendered helpless once tipped over, I'm afraid to see how lame the rest of Brotherhood of Evil is in this show compared to how badass they were in Teen Titans, not to mention the Doom Patrol. Oh well, we'll see. It's also good to see those starro things from Batman Beyond again. Being a big fan of the Venture Bros, I especially liked the teaser with the Challengers of the Unkown. And it looks like we're in for a two-parter with them. Cool. So, what are your thoughts?

    Gotham Bank

Yay! Finally another Batmoc from our resident tasmanian bat! And what a beautiful moc it is! It has BTAS and classic Batman all over it! The windows on the roof are very Batman-esque as you said, but they might have been better in trans-black, and I'm not entirely sure if I like the mix of tan and dark blue on the first floor, but otherwise this is perfect. I especially like the meeting room upstairs. Good job! But how could you forget to make a robbery scene! I was anticipating it while I was reading through the first post, but as I got to the end, I was not only left cakeless, but also robberyless. You have to make one, quick! Now, please make a Joker hideout or Freeze Lab! To the Okymobile! *insert spinning Star Command logo*
  5. Toy Story Accessories Review Greetings, fellow toy lovers. As you may know, TLC released four keychains and a magnet set for the Toy Story theme recently, and being a collector of this theme, I bought one of each. So, I though I'd review them for you. I'll start with the magnets. Name: LEGO® Toy Story™ Magnet Set Item #: 852949 Theme: Toy Story Year: 2010 Pieces: 1 (according to S@H) Minifigs: 3 Price: $14.99 USD The package features the iconic blue-sky-with-clouds wallpaper as the background. On the back, it has some warnings and info, and a punch-in tab for easier opening. The tab is a nice concept, but not very practical in reality. There's no space underneath it, so you can't really punch it in, so the only way to use it is to pull it out, which is even more difficult. And even if you do manage to pull it out, it doesn't even open the package very well; it just rips off a small, zig-zaggy piece. In the end, you'll have to just rip off the whole back part to successfully remove the magnets. Here they are, in all their magnetic glory: The good news is that the figs come off very easily since they are only held onto the magnets by studs. The bad news is that they are all of the inferior Chinese quality. If you look closely, you'll see the typical engraved square on their arms. In Woody's case, this is no surprise since that's the same quality he comes in in the sets. Just like their set counterparts, all figs have back prints. They are not glued either, so you can take them apart. The picture below shows comparisons of the set and magnet versions of Buzz and the alien's bodies. The ones on the left are from the magnets, the ones on the right from the sets. As you can see, the color of both the plastic and the printing is noticeably more dull on the figs from the magnet. Their arms, legs, and hands are also harder to move than on the high-quality ones. Same goes for the backs. The magnets themselves are the same kind we have been getting for over a year now. But unlike prievious magnets with short-legged figs, the modified 1x1 bricks on the alien's magnet are the new kind without indent. As for playability, well, it's a magnet set, so there's obviously not much you can do with it, except maybe an all-out magnet whacking party. Next, I will review the keychains. I will review them in groups of two in order to save time, and I used a white 2x8 plate to help them stand. First up we have Woody Longlegs and his female sidekick. Name: LEGO® Toy Story™ Woody Key Chain / Jessie Key Chain Item #: 852848 / 852850 Theme: Toy Story Year: 2010 Pieces: 1 Price: $4.99 USD The tags on the key rings feature the usual warnings and info. The figs are the same kind that comes in the sets. Their heads are hard to turn, and in order to keep them from damage, I would recommend not to do it. Not much else to say about them. Last, but not least, the short stuff: Name: LEGO® Toy Story™ Buzz Lightyear Key Chain / Alien Key Chain Item #: 852849 / 852950 Theme: Toy Story Year: 2010 Pieces: 1 Price: $4.99 USD Like the ones in the magnet set, these figs are of the lower quality. Again, you can tell by the dark printing and the square marks on their arms (at least on the alien). The keychain nail is going into their heads at an angle, so it's impossible to turn their heads. On the bright side, if you plan to remove the nail, you wont notice the remaining hole when looking at them from the front. Buzz' wings are glued, so they cannot be removed. Hi-res version of all the pics can be found in this brickshelf folder. Final thoughts: I was hoping to be able to army-build some space rangers and aliens with that magnet set, but seeing as they wont fit in with the ones from the sets, I'm hesitant. Ambassadors are promising us that Lego is working on this quality issue, so let's hope that we'll see magnet sets with high-quality figs soon. The key chains are good for what they are, and the Jessie one is good for those who are looking for a cheap way to get this fig. I might get another one of the alien to actually use it as a key chain. Hopefully we'll see the rest of the figs put into key chain or magnet form. Overall, I'd give all of these accessories a 3/5. They all feel a bit overpriced too, especially considering the quality you get. See you in my next Toy Story review. To Infinity and Beyond!
  6. Very good alternative. It looks great, I especially like the use of Gunray's hat, but I would have preferred the new Landspeeder windshield.
  7. Oh, there are many "major" movies I haven't seen, but from what has been mentioned in this thread and what I can remember: The Godfather Goodfellas Saving Private Ryan Casablanca The Great Escape Scarface Die Hard 2 Planet of the Apes The Exorcist Tron Top Gun The Karate Kid Bladerunner (though I tried, mind you) Most Batman movies except The Dark Knight and Batman & Robin Most Silvester Stallone movies. Most Quentin Tarantino movies except Pulp Fiction and Basterds. Any Anime, except for Spirited Away, Castle in the Sky, Steamboy, and Cowboy Bebop: The Movie. All Hitchcock movies Any classic Star Trek
  8. Nice one, JD! I really like it. The beam is indeed very cool (I envy you for those pieces) and the posing of the figs is good. The only thing that bugs me is that there is a floor dividing the beam. It just doesn't make sense. I would leave the floor out and try to find a different way of attaching the beam to the rest of the vignette. Also: Agreed. That officer looks rather healthy for the fact that his head is sticking into a beam that can destroy planets.

  15. Mkay, well, what would it cost to ship 2-4 minifigs within the US? I'm just trying to get a feeling for how much I'll ultimately pay.
  16. I don't know where everybody is (I thought we agreed on 11am?), but I'll just go ahead and start. May the force be with you, Bob. 17. Is there a way to see the shipping fee before you submit your order? Do some seller not charge shipping fees?
  18. Indeed! Well, I don't know what you define as "good", but the FBTB pics are pretty good IMO.
  19. I doubt that anyone has that amount of "cheeze slopes", especially in that color, and is willing to borrow it to you, and even if there is, it will probably take some time for it to arrive. Why don't you just get them from S@H? They usually have pretty speedy delivery. Good luck.
  20. Sorry to revive this thread, but I finally got around to seeing this movie, and I had to share my thoughts. I, like apparently many here, found it to be very enjoyable. The fact that I speak English and German fluently and have a little bit of knowledge of French as well probably helped. I can understand if somebody who only knows one of the languages featured in the film didn't enjoy it as much because he/she had to read a lot during the movie. But as Batbrick once said, it's part of the uniqueness of this movie that it breaks away from the main stream by not being afraid of showing conversations in the language that they would be in real life. I can also imagine that a lot of people would have preferred more screen time for the basterds for many reasons, especially Americans, and I must admit that I'm one of those people, but I also think that the movie works just fine the way it is. The ending definitely made up for all the action that was missing during the movie. Needless to say, the acting was great, and Lt. Raine and Col. Landa sure were some great characters! Due to its Tarantino-typical original structure, it was quite interesting to watch, and simply "something else", something that is very good to see in movies these days. I enjoyed it about as much as Pulp Fiction (which is the only other Tarantino movie I've seen). By the way, what's with the "typo" in the title? I don't get it.
  21. Don't hate me for this, but for me it's Grievous. He's just so darn accurate and so much better than the old one! Though Aayla and Boba are lovely too. Btw, shouldn't the title of this topic be "Best Minifig from Toy Fair"? I think it's a bit early to say which fig is the best of the year.
  22. That's what she said. But yes, it's a nice image. Where'd you get it?
  23. Thirded. Great job, AcPin! But, uhm... I hate to always be the partypooper with the rule book under his arm... but as beautiful is that door is, doesn't it violate the no-overlap rule?
  24. Yeah, that's probably it. The greenhouses in previous Potter games looked very similar. I too wish there would have been more Lego incorporated in the environment, but oh well.
  25. Whack-a-Dodger Jammiedodger has been talking smack about the Toy Story minifigs, so Oky decided to smack right back - literally! With the promise of free money, he lured him to a special Star Command facility. What JD didn't know is that Oky covered the floor with glue so that he can't pick up the money and is stuck to the floor. Now JD is getting repeatedly whacked by the very head molds he was mocking. Up in the control room, Oky and his alien sidekick are operating the device and observe the spectacle, amusing themselves greatly. The right side features a gear that is part of the mechanism which turns the "Toy Story Wheel of Punishment": A bird's eye view: The control room without the figs: More pics in this brickshelf folder. Hope you enjoyed it! Please let me know if there's anything I could improve or add. And let the whacking continue!
