I see. Thanks. Well, I didn't think that it really deserved its own thread and thought it could be related to the recent server issues, and I didn't know where else to post it. And what do you know; the question was answered after one or two replies, so I was right (about the "own thread" part).

Is it just me, or is anyone else having trouble with the frontpage? Some of the older posts there tend to stay at the top while newer posts get posted below them. First, it was the one about the Space Shuttle, and now it's the one about PoP month. Refreshing the page doesn't help. Can anyone explain this phenomenon?

I'm noting, I'm noting! Very cool (pun not intended)! It would make for a great evil twin of my sigfig. All you need is a Harry Potter head with a goatee. And indeed, that Nightwing looks totally ! -

Awesome entry, pedro! Excellent adaption of that set! Now you just need to make a shot of Nizam and Dastan having a katana duel where, at the end, Dastan gets his hand cut off and Nizam tells him he is his uncle. Samuraiturtle, your entries are also very good! Great use of that horrible baseplate. I just don't like the figs in the cavalry set. Dastan looks weird with his hair cut, and the imperial soldiers seem completely out of place. -
Is the "VIP Club" something different than the VIP program? Because I hadn't heard of that promotion. By the way, it looks like you can now use your VIP points online in the UK. LINK (You'll not be able to see it if your country is not set to UK) Also, you get 5 extra points when you buy ARC-170 Starfighter, Tantive IV, Freeco Speeder, Droid Tri-Fighter, or TIE Defender until May 12

Prince of Persia Theme Month Game: Chat
Oky replied to Shadows's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
"The Nizam"? As in plural? Did he use the Dagger of Time to make time-duplicates of himself or something (like Marty and Doc did in Back to the Future II)? I think it would be better if it was Hassansins we were killing, but whatever. I have never played a mafia game, so I'm hesitant to sign up, but considering how much fun PoP month is, this might be a good time to start. -
That's quite hilarious, but isn't that kind of old news? We've had the SW voices on our TomTom for a while now... @ Big Cam: There already is a C3PO one, but yeah, Yoda would be great! Chewie anyone?
-
A tough one indeed, but ultimately, I'll have to vote for The Penguin! Once again, great customization work, and I just love the Jafar-ness of it! Also, way to prove that TS fig parts can be used for other themes as well.
-
That's great, Rook! I love it! Great use of those stickered parts, and the inclusion of the light brick is indeed a nice touch! Keep it up! Absolutely agree!
-
I knew you would pick up on that reference. Thanks for noting it! And the Trash Compactor. And why Construct-A-Buzz comes with half printed and half stickered parts. You're welcome. Definitely! This is a perfect set to represent PIXAR! Although I can recommend you to get some of the other TS sets as well - they're quite underrated! OWK out!
-
Could a mod perhaps rename this topic? I think by now we know that these are indeed "new minifigures" so how about something more like "Collectible Minifigs Discussion" or something?
-
The 2010 episodes are here! Or at least the first one. Unfortunately no narration, but now you can choose in which point of view you want the story to be told! That doesn't mean that the stories aren't biased though. Enjoy!
-
Haven't you seen Toy Story 2? If so, you seriously need to do so! There, all these toys, along with Slinky and Potatohead hijack the truck in order to save woody. I haven't seen TS3, so I don't know if there will be a similar scene, but I'm pretty sure there wont, and that this set is actually based on TS2. Well, you can't have mine, that's for sure. "MINE MINE MINE MINE MINE MINE!"

LEGO Prince of Persia Contest - Entries Discussion Thread
Oky replied to Svelte's topic in LEGO Licensed
Great entries so far, everyone! Keep 'em coming! Some comments: Seso is using the Dagger of Time to prepare the meals! With time on his side, he must be the fastest cook alive! Awesome 1st category entries, ISC & brickzone! While ISC's is very creative and nicely designed, brickzone's looks just like a set TLC would do! Not even I am sure if I can beat that. @ Johnno: Your entry looks nice, but it does not look like a set at all. It's seriously lacking some play features and an interior. I recommend taking off the back wall and putting the treasure inside along with some traps. @ cralegoboy: That certainly is some exotic apparel, being from the 21st century and all. Someone has been using the Dagger of Time for his own profit, me thinks. -
Thanks for all the kind comments, guys. It's not really missing since he only wears it when he is portraying the Evil Doctor Porkchops, but I agree that it would have been a nice extra. It's a Target exclusive, so it will not be sold at TRU.
-
May the Fourth Be With You - The Movie! Pretty funny little summary of the OT. Poor Boba. In fact, this is the best thing that has come out of this whole promotion. The sales are nice, but not great. The sticker sheet is useless, and only one lucky person in the world is going to win the Bronze Boba. Hopefully it'll be more exciting next year.

I was going to ask you to make one for mine, but it looks like you already made it.

INITIATE REVIEW SEQUENCE_ Greetings, worthless human! Behold the awesome power of the Dark Panther, one of our latest achievements in combat mech technology! Its agility and sinister paint job will strike fear into the heart of any enemy and shall lead us to victory in our glorious battle against the inferior meatbags! Prepare to learn all about this magnificent piece of machinery! Set Number: 8115 Name: Dark Panther Theme: Exo Force Subtheme: Deep Jungle / Robots Year: 2008 Pieces: 244 Minifigs: 3 Price: $14.99 USD BrickLink Brickset Brickshelf Gallery 1. The Box Like all boxes of the last wave of Exo Force sets of this size, the package of the Dark Panther features parts of clear plastic at the front which allow you to see through to a background image inside the box. This gives the already well-crafted box art some nice depth. The top of the box shows a 1:1 scale picture of the Devastator fig. The right side of the box has "Deep Jungle" and "Weapon becomes Mini-Robot" written in two other languages, while the left side has some safety information. The back of the box shows how you can detach the mini-robot and the two drones, and the combo model you can build out of the parts from this set and 8117 Storm Lasher. The combo model looks good enough to be its own set, and sadly, I think this was the last time we saw an advertised combo or alternate model. The contents of the box are comprised of an instructions booklet, a sticker sheet, a card board background, a bag numbered 1, two bags numbered 2. 2. Notable Pieces Some of the most interesting pieces of this set include dark purple roof slopes and those pointy slope pieces in dark purple and yellow (both of which are exclusive to this set in that color), dark purple grill tiles (which have so far only appeared in one other set), yellow claws (which are also semi-rare in that color), yellow cheese graters (which made their debut in this wave of Exo Force): 3. Instructions In the first part of the instructions, you assemble the minifigs, in the second, you build the vehicle. Here is a random instructions page: 4. Minifigs This set includes one Devastator robot and two Iron Drones. It is arguable if these are minifigs or not because they are sort of brick-built and not "normal" minifigs, but since they are officially said to be minifigs, that's what I'm gonna call them. First up, we have the two drones: Both of them have a small weapon and some kind of back-mounted device with circular saws. I'm not sure what those are for, but I think they are supposed to be small versions of the Storm Lasher, enabling the robots to fly off and scout ahead of the Dark Panther. Here they are in Flight mode: Next, we have the Devastator and the Mini-Robot, which is basically a large robot spider. The eyes of the spider are on a hinge brick, so they can "look" upward. Unlike the drones, the Devastator has a red Technic axle as eyes which makes him look more menacing. 5. The Complete Set Here it is, the completed Dark Panther in all its glory! Please not that I did not apply all the stickers. The ones on the upper front legs and the windscreen are missing. Front view. Looks kind of skinny and unimposing from this angle, but the way the drones are attached at an angle looks good. Side view. As you can see here, the cockpit is pretty cramped. But then again, these are robots; they don't care about comfort. Rear view. Unlike most Exo Force sets, this mech doesn't look too bad from this angle. Could have been better though. Top and bottom view. As you can see in the top view, you have to raise the spider's front legs in order to fit it onto the Panther. Here it is without the figs and with the cockpit open: The main cannon can be tilted up 90 degrees. With the included background, you can display the set nicely, even though the background is a bit narrow. 6. Spare Parts There are only four spare parts: A claw, a Technic spacer, and two translucent studs. Nothing too exciting. 7. Bonus Pictures The Dark Panther is quite poseable. The following action shots will demonstrate that. Here it is on the hunt: Attacking its prey: And trying out for the robot circus: 8. Final Thoughts Design: 4.5/5 - Well, it doesn't look much like a panther, what with all the spikes and strange proportions and all, but it definitely looks like a cool, menacing, panther-inspired mech. It looks good from most angles, and even though the color scheme doesn't match any of the other bad guy vehicles, it certainly looks great. It's not loaded with stickers like some other Exo Force sets either, so it'll still look good if you don't apply them. Also, it gets some bonus points for being the first four-legged Exo Force mech. Build: 4/5 - Mostly good, with some SNOT and not too much Technic. There's some repetition though, especially on the lower legs. Minifigs: 4/5 - Three minifigs in a $15 set is a good deal. Not great, but good. I like the robots because they are made out of shiny parts which can be useful for MOCs. The robots included are nothing special though. But then again, the fact that they are so generic is what makes this such a good battle pack. Playability: 4.5/5 As already mentioned, the Panther is very poseable, you can aim the cannon, and all the detaching extras are fun. My only gripe are the unbendable knees. Parts: 4.5/5 - You get a few nice parts in rare colors, and who doesn't like purple? Most of it is pretty basic stuff, though. Price: 5/5 - Three minifigs, a brick-built spider, and a medium sized mech for $15 seems like a pretty good deal to me. Overall: 4.5/5 - While it may not be perfect, it's a pretty neat set for its price. Over two Years after its release, I was still able to acquire this set at MSRP, so if you can do the same, I can definitely recommend getting it! By the way, have you ever wondered what Devastator does on his day off? He goes to the park to spends quality time with his pet Spiderbot! Again, you can find hi-res version of all the pics and more in this Brickshelf folder. I hope you enjoyed this review, and remember: ALL HAIL MECHA ONE! KILL ALL HUMANS! TASK COMPLETED_

Review: 7598 Pizza Planet Truck Rescue Space: the final frontier. Infinite worlds to discover, and countless mouths to feed. Luckily, there is one planet that has the greasy goods to satisfy them all - Pizza Planet! These are the voyages of the Pizza Planet truck. Its mission: To deliver pizzas to the good people of Earth and to boldly go where no delivery truck has gone before! Set Number: 7598 Name: Pizza Planet Truck Rescue Theme: Toy Story Year of Release: 2010 Pieces: 225 Minifigs: 4 Price: $39.99 USD S@H description: Holy pepperoni...it’s the Pizza Planet truck to the rescue!! Buzz Lightyear, Hamm, Rex and their alien friend are on a car-chase adventure in the Pizza Planet delivery truck! The toy heroes will have to work together to steer the big vehicle through busy traffic to rescue their friends. Good thing they’ve got a secret pizza flinger hidden under the hood for emergencies! Brickset BrickLink Brickshelf The Box The box features the plain white-with-blue-frame design of the Toy Story 3 wave, and images of Buzz and Rex. Unlike other Toy Story 3 sets, it has a Special Edition tag in the lower right-hand corner. At the top of the box, there is a 1:1 scale picture of the Buzz Lightyear fig. On the left side it has two more Special Edition tags in different languages, while the right side has some safety information. On the back, there is a line-up of the included minifigs, a picture of the figs posed outside the vehicle, and a pictorial demonstration of how to load and fire the pizza shooter. Here is a close-up of the explanation of the pizza shooting mechanism. It describes it better than I ever could. Want to see it in action? Check out Inconspicuous' video from Bricks at the Bay: Contents Inside the box, you will find four numbered bags, a separately bagged Rex, and an instructions booklet. No sticker sheet! Yay! The other minifigs are inside bag number one. Hamm, Buzz' head and jetpack assembly, and the alien's head all come bagged separately. There are quite a few notable pieces here. This set sees the return of the 10-wide windscreen in trans-black and yellow. Also, there is a X-Wing canopy in white, inverted 2x4 windscreens in yellow, a red 2x4 tile, yellow 1x3 tiles, and some other printed tiles. Here is a random instructions page: Minifigs Here are the minifigs prior to assembly. As always, the torso and legs of Buzz and the alien are of the good quality. As you can see, Rex' tail is attached via a blue technic pin, and Hamm has a rubber cork under his belly. And here they are, the two new figs in this set, Rex and Hamm. Hamm has a slot where you can insert Lego coins, however there aren't any included in the set. Rex' arms are one rubbery piece, so they can't be taken off and move simultaneously. Unfortunately, they are also a bit loose, so they tend to fall down and are hard to pose. Rex' legs and tail, on the other hand, turn 360 degrees and are very well poseable. And unlike Hamm, he also has two studs on his back, so no one can say that he is not a Lego-like fig. Buzz and the LGM (Little Green Man) are the same as those found in sets of the first wave. Unfortunately they still haven't fixed the issue of Buzz' helmet only being half closed. The Build With the parts from the first bag, you build the basis of the chassis and the pizza launcher. You can already tell how it works: When the tab in the back is pulled back, the red 2x4 tile-at the front (left side of the picture) slides back to allow a pizza to fall onto another tile below. When the tab is released, the rubber band pulls the slider back, thereby shooting the pizza. Simple, but effective, and barely any Technic parts involved. After the second bag, the lower half of the rear section is done. The third bag contains all the parts to finish up the driver's cabin. In the last step, you attach the wheels and build the back hatch. Here is the finished product: Both at the front and back, there is a plate-high slot in order to help you open the hood / take off the back hatch. The license plate and "YO" tile are great details and PIXAR-fan candy! Unfortunately, part of the back window is missing, but there is a reason for that, which I will tell you soon. In profile, the truck looks pretty spot-on, and the prints certainly help the authenticity! From below, it does not look so spectacular though, especially in the back. The lack of an exhaust pipe is very evident from this angle. Top view. The design of the little plastic rocket is quite clever. "It's a spaceship, Buzz!" This is what it looks like with the back hatch removed: The roof of the driver's cabin can also be removed in order to seat the minifigs inside more easily. The interior of the cabin is rather plain though. It doesn't even have a proper gear shift lever. The doors open nicely and have some of the best door designs I have seen in cars of this size. Now let's see what's under the hood. What looks like a pizza-powered engine is actually the magazine of the pizza shooter. When closed, the hood covers up the hole at the top, so you don't have to worry about pizzas falling out when you turn the vehicle upside-down, but I still wouldn't recommend it because then the stack of pizzas gets all jumbled up. All the minifigs fit into the truck, but you need to take Buzz' wings off to be able to do so. This is how they are seated: And this is how it looks like after closing the truck: Rex' tail looks out of the open back window, which is probably why it's missing. When Rex needs some fresh air, you can open up the top hatch and have him stick his head out. There are six pizzas included in this set, so there's plenty for the minifigs to throw a pizza party! The spare parts are comprised of a 1x1 bley tile, a small Technic spacer, and a yellow cheese slope. Ratings Design: 4.5/5 - The design on this is great in my opinion! The truck looks very smooth and accurate, and using solid-colored windshields as mudguards was certainly an interesting and fresh idea. However, it could have been a bit more detailed, not to mention that it is completely underscaled in comparison with the figs. Build: 4/5 - The build was quite enjoyable. Nothing too repetitive, with some SNOT and very little Technic. It wasn't very challenging though, mostly due to all the large pieces being used. Minifigs: 4.5/5 - Hamm and Rex are a great addition to the Toy Story theme, even though Hamm could have used a stud or two, and Rex' arms are kind of a disappointment. Buzz and the alien are pretty basic, but since I can't get enough of these figs, I really don't mind. It's just too bad we couldn't get Slinky and Mr. Potatohead with this set, considering they were in this scene in Toy Story 2 as well. I guess the poor little alien will fall out of the window with no one to save him and for him to pledge eternal gratefulness to. Playability: 5/5 - This set has all the play features of a good Lego truck, plus it shoots pizzas! How cool is that? Parts: 4.5/5 - You get some interesting parts in this set, such as the large/solid-colored windshields, and the printed parts add some nice detail to the truck. The only problem is that since you can't remove the decals, the reusability of the printed parts is limited. Price: 2/5 - 225 pieces for $40 is pretty bad, even if it's because most of the parts are kinda large. Overall: 4.5/5 - This is a lovely little set! The Pizza Planet truck appears in almost all PIXAR movies, so this set is a PIXAR fan's dream come true! It's very accurate and could even be used for City too. Plus it comes with some cool figs and six pizzas. It's a bit pricey, but considering that it's one of the best Toy Story sets so far, I think it's worth it. And did I mention that IT SHOOTS PIZZAS? Parting shot: The Demise of Captain Rex! Hi-res versions of all the pics can be found in this brickshelf folder. I hope you enjoyed this review as much as my previous ones. More Toy Story 3 reviews will follow as soon as my order arrives! This review has made me hungry, so I'm off to have some pizza!

Review: 7595 Army Men on Patrol ATTEEEEENTION! Sgt. Oky reporting for duty! My mission is it to bring to you an in-depth review of set 7595, one of the most anticipated Lego Toy Story sets this year. Execute Operation Review! Let's move, move, move! Set Number: 7595 Name: Army Men on Patrol Theme: Toy Story Year of Release: 2010 Pieces: 90 Minifigs: 4 Price: $10.99 USD BrickLink Brickset Brickshelf Gallery 1. The Box The box features the usual Toy Story design with a background that shows the part of Andy's room where the "Bucket-o-Soldiers" stands. Note that some of the accessories that are included in this set, such as the stretcher, are missing in this picture. On the top of the box, there is a 1:1 scale pic of one of the soldiers. The back features a scene where the soldiers carry off a wounded comrade, and a line-up of the minifigs. These pictures give you a better idea of all the accessories that are included in this set. 2. The Contents The contents of the box are comprised of an instructions booklet and two bags, one smaller than the other. This is the booklet: Here is a random instructions page. The signature Toy Story "partly cloudy sky" wallpaper makes for a nice background. And this is the parts inventory page at the end of the booklet: These are all the bricks included in this set. Some of these parts appear for the first time in green, such as the wheels and SNOT plates. The most notable parts, however, are the minifig accessories. This set is full of them, and they are all green! This is the first time we have seen these parts in that color. Plus we get the first modern military helmet (Who woulda thought we'd ever get one?) and those neat new minifig stands! It's possible to place the stands onto a baseplate, so you can use them for landscaping, but they are slightly wider than a 2x4 brick/plate, so you can't place anything right next to them. 3. The Minifigs This set comes with three identical, all-green soldiers and one medic, whose only difference to the soldiers is a printed medic symbol on his helmet. Unfortunately, that symbol does not glow in the dark like its movie counterpart. Would have been nice if they would have gone that extra step, but I guess it wasn't necessary. They look very similar to their movie counterparts: The front of the helmets is higher than the back. In the following picture, I have provided a comparison with a soldier with his helmet facing the wrong way, as well as side and rear shots of the minifigs. Sadly, no back printing, but then again, there's not much they could have printed there. Here they are sporting their accessories. Looking good, soldiers! 4. The Build The build of the jeep is quick and very reminiscent of that of the Indiana Jones Brickmaster jeep. 5. The Vehicle Even though the completed jeep isn't quite as detailed as the Indy one, it's still pretty neat. Note how even the windshield and headlights are green, giving it that certain toy feel. In the back, it has a spare tire. And yes, even the tail lights are trans-green. Here are some more views of it: Minifigs can be seated in it with or without their stands. 6. The Complete Set Here's the complete set with all the accessories. The only spare part is a single trans-green stud. 7. Ratings Design: 5/5 - The army men in the movie don't really have a vehicle, but if they did, this is exactly what it would look like; completely green, with the moving parts being black. The bley parts are a bit random, but they're not very noticeable. Build: 3/5 - Very short and simple, and a bit too similar to the Indy Jeep. There's some SNOT involved, but nothing spectacular. Minifigs: 4.5/5 - The army men are very detailed and accurate. The fact that they are so generic makes them great for army building. The only problem is that a quarter of your army will be medics, but you can always brasso the medic sign off of the helmet. Some back printing would have been nice though. Playability: 5/5 - You can zoom the jeep around and change its tires, and with all the accessories in the set, you can play out countless situations with the army men. Pretty good for such a small set. Parts: 4.5/5 - Lots of accessories and other pieces in a color that they haven't been released in before, plus the new helmet and minifig stand, make this a pretty good assortment of parts for such a small set. My only gripe are the guns. There's not enough of them, and it would have been nice to finally get some official machine guns, or even a bazooka, but the shotguns aren't too bad I guess. Also, it would have been cool if the hood of the jeep would have been made out of a green 2x4 tile instead of two 2x2s, but that's just being picky. Price: 5/5 - 90 pieces and 4 minifigs for a licensed $11 set is pretty darn good, especially considering all the neat parts it comes with. Overall: 4.5/5 - This is a great little set that is good (though not perfect) for army building modern soldiers. It looks just like it should, and you get a bunch of parts in a new color for a small price. There isn't much more you could ask for, except for some more accurate weapons maybe. 8. Parting Picture This is what you have all been waiting for (and what many will likely do with this set): A make-it-look-realistic mod! Hi-res versions of all the pics can be found in this brickshelf folder. I hope you enjoyed my fourth Toy Story review. More will be coming soon. At ease, soldier.
-
I think it's supposed to be a tiny version of Quest Against Time, so in a way, yes, it's in the movie. It's a pretty neat set, especially for someone who doesn't have any PoP sets yet. A micro-scale Alamut could have been nice too, though.
-
Where is this mail in entry system?
-
Yeah, but it's in the heart of Alamut, which is like the bad guys' headquarters, plus there's also a scorpion in Desert Attack. I just don't know what else it could be. Hm, how about a dark red scorpion then? Or maybe the golden one on a dark red circle? I highly doubt that the Persian army would represent themselves with the image of a mythical object that they just found out about a few days ago and which they aren't even in the possession of most of the time.
-
Has anyone noticed that PoP is the first theme without any printed or stickered parts in a long time (aside from the animals)? If the Persian army had a logo, what do you think it would be? A golden scorpion? I need one for one of my contest entries.
