Yes, it's old news, but it's still pretty darn cool. I just wish there was a hi-res version of it. I can't read all the descriptions. But that's how he sells his art, I guess. If I was a doctor, I would totally get one of those for my office.

I ordered Venice Canal Chase, Luke's Landspeeder, and some of the new PAB elements. And it's not Lego, but in the spirit of PoP month, I got the "PoP: Sands of Time" videogame.

I have question: Does the white assassin droid from the Death Star count in this game? By the way, I have an advise for everyone: Whatever you do, pick a small map! It's very tedious to cross a desert, especially if you have a large army, and if there are obstacles in your way. It took me and Bob several days to even get close to each other on Geonosis.

The rock looks good, and all those BARC troopers are a nice touch. My only gripe is the actual stand itself. It looks like the ARC is scraping over a radio tower. It would be better if you could use something translucent. EDIT: By the way, I love the Lair of Grievous reference in the poll.

Agreed. I like how you did the night scenes. The blue lighting with bright flashes reminds me a lot of some of the Order 66 scenes in ROTS. Thanks.

Very cool! Good job on keeping it all in the Army Men color scheme! And all the play features are a nice touch. But next time when you present a green MOC, please don't use green font to write over it.

Wow! Thanks for all the votes everyone! I'm flattered. My first vote goes to Dannylonglegs. His entry is so large and detailed and creative and keeps nicely with the whole Rock Raiders theme. Some neat techniques in there too. I love how you have created an optical illusion in this picture with all those arches, making it look like a long hallway. Plus that alien is very cool. I love those movies. My second vote goes to LuxorV. The vignette is built very well and I like the idea of two simultaneous whackings being planned. I can see a classic cartoon scene unfolding from this in my head, where Siegfried dodges the piano, which then gets shot in the air, hitting Luxor, while the debris of the blasted street falls down on Hinckley, leaving the two whackers injured and the whackee unharmed. If you are into brickfilming at all, LuxorV, I would love to see that realized! Great job, everyone! This was a fun contest!

Those would be some pretty curly branches. Rather use the PoP whip. It's PoP month after all! Has anyone ever tried using the brown tread links as branches? That might be something worth looking into...

ONE week of FREE Shipping for Design byME orders

No, I think you have to advance to page 3 for it to take effect. If it still doesn't work, something must be wrong. -
ONE week of FREE Shipping for Design byME orders
Oky replied to Siegfried's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
I just tried the promo code on an order of a $27 PAB bag and a $25 set and it worked. I also tried it without any PAB or DesignByMe product and only a $80 set, and it still worked. Turns out this isn't exclusive to DesignByMe products. It works for all of S@H! -
Agreed. Here's to hoping for a "Lego Harry Potter - The Visual Dictionary" with some kind of super awesome exclusive fig!

LEGO Star Wars III: The Clone Wars

Uhm... What are you talking about? Are you afraid they will make LEGO Jabba's eyes bigger? I doubt that since CW Jabba looks pretty similar to the "real" one: Says someone with HP hair on his avatar fig. -
That would be pretty lame if that was the case. Besides, why would they call them "LEGO Magnets" if there isn't anything "Lego" about them? On the bright side, if that really is the case, I surely wont go for the limited edition.
-
Yeah, but then again, these magnets will probably be worth much more than what you're paying extra in the future. I'm very curious if they are duplo or system... With every new vid, I'm getting more and more excited for this game. I can barely take it anymore! Accio LHP!

Oh, you know how noobs are, always posting stuff in the wrong places. Anyway, here it is again: http://www.mugglenet.com/ http://www.gamestop.com/browse/ProductMerc...&affid=3002 This is the best pic I could find: Looks and sounds pretty neat, but I'm not sure if it's worth the extra $20 for me.

Wow! Looks like the train comes with two extra blind wheels! That's great news, especially considering that they have free shipping on orders over $100! I will check my Lego Store on Friday and if they don't have the sets yet, I think I'll order them.

LEGO Star Wars III: The Clone Wars
Oky replied to BrickBob Studpants's topic in Culture & Multimedia
Don't start that discussion again. If the SW theme is going to end by the end of the year, it's not because of a videogame, but because TLC decides to not renew the license, and lets be honest, there's no way they're going to do that anytime soon. Besides, there is a thread for discussing that in the SW forum. The theory of the CW subtheme being discontinued after the game is a bit more reasonable, but with at least two more seasons of the show ahead of us, the CW sets still selling like hot pie, and hundreds of set possibilities left, I don't see that happening either. So stop your doomsday theories and get back on topic! -
Hm, those magnets look pretty neat, and sneak peeks are always good, but I'm not sure if those things are worth the extra $20. I think I'll wait for better pics of the magnets (Are they duplo or system?) before I decide. There's still time, after all.

Not as exciting as the other Borders coupons lately, but still nice: 25% off any one item (expires 22nd) And as Siegfried has posted already elsewhere, there's free shipping on DesignByMe everywhere, with some limitations. Click here for more details. Update: The new Borders coupon is a 33% off one again. Also, as I said in Siegfried's thread, I believe DesignByMe promo codes work for other products as well, but it may not work for everyone. Still, it's worth a try. Oh, and until the 24th, TRU has a BOGO 50% off sale on all Duplo, but I guess that's not too exciting. Update 2: And once again, 33% off any one item.

"Identity" - It was pretty corny and predictable, at least to me. The idea behind it was kinda interesting, but it was just so poorly executed. If you feel like watching cheesy slasher movie with a predictable twist, and if you can watch it for free, go ahead. I wont stop you. Or will I? "The Secret Window" - Kind of similar to Identity, but at least it had that creepy Stephen King flair and Johnny Depp's good acting. Then again, it lacked the "excitement" of Identity and, instead, showed Depp taking naps and whining about his wife leaving him for about half the movie. If you're a fan of the two big names mentioned above, I can recommend it, but if not, you might want to pass this. "The Drawn Together Movie: The Movie!" - Yes, that's right, that's the exact title of the movie. It's a straight-to-DVD movie of the Comedy Central series that's about to be released, and I got to see a premiere showing at the Anaheim Comic Con. It's about ten times as raunchy and offensive as the series. It even had a sex scene with Foxy and Toot and a chic from The Flintstones in 3D. Yeah, it's that bad. Some parts are kind of funny, but mostly it's garbage. "The Batman/Superman Movie" - After so many bad movies, it felt good to watch some quality entertainment again. Very amusing movie! Mark Hamill is pure hilarity as the Joker of course, and it was pretty funny how Batman kept stealing the show from Superman (and his girlfriend)! And everything else about the movie was great too. I just looove BTAS!

I see. Well, I only have a few suggestions for you then. Do you have 24 2x2 round plates? If so, you could use two of them to fill the space behind the top part of every corner piece, and on top of those, you could have your "baseplates". That way you wouldn't even have to have anything between the corner pieces. However, if you do want the corner pieces to be one plate height apart, you could use a 1x2 jumper plate to fill the gap. If you want a whole brick height between two corner pieces, you could stick a 1x2 tile horizontally onto the side one of these and put that into the gap with the tile facing outward. Or you could just go with your initial design where you have plate corners sticking out of the corners of your tower and use those to make brick-built gargoyles. That would be easy to build and would make the facade of your tower look less plain. I hope that was comprehensible and helped.
-
You want you use baseplates for the floors? Why not just use large plates? That would be more stable and make your life easier.

I too get annoyed by large sigs. Sometimes it's because of large pictures, but often it's because of set wish lists. What's the deal with those? Why do people want to have a list of all the sets they want to show up after every single post they make? It serves no other purpose than clutter up the forum. Therefore, I propose an anti-wish-list policy. Anybody agree?

Can our market stall be partly inside a building?

Thanks for starting this thread. It'll be very useful for people who don't have any PoP sets, but still want to make MOCs. The best suggestions have already been made, I think, but I'll still throw some ideas out there. A single stud could be a good substitute for a fez, and a ball joint piece could make for a good small turban. However, these solutions will make the fig look bald. Also, I have seen the imperial officer helmet (from the snowtrooper BP) being put to great use as one of those neck protecting head-wraps, but that's probably more Arabic and less Persian. If you are looking for female hair, I think Padme's looks very similar to Tamina's. As for male heads, I think most people think of middle eastern people to have great facial hair, so any mustached or bearded head would work. For clothing, any Jedi/Sith or ninja bodies will do. Some Pirate torsos might work as well. Not the best ideas, I know, but as I said, I just wanted to get them out there.
