Ah! So that's what you've been so busy with! Meh, I've seen better. Just kidding! It's amazing of course! All that nougat looks yummy great! Together with the gold, dark tan, and dark bley it has a very unique look to it! Considering the limited palette of parts you had, this turned out great! The secret bathroom's color scheme has a very nice Turkish feel to it! And who knew that a piece that was intended to be ice could be used as water! Overall, really good job! However, I do kinda agree on the dark tan tiles looking "unnatural". Now go and make some vote topics! The movie starts this Friday!

Happy B-day, B-Cam! Hope you got Lotso Lego, er, I mean lots of Lego. Here are 28 not-so-big cams for you from me:

LEGO Prince of Persia Contest - Entries Discussion Thread
Oky replied to Svelte's topic in LEGO Licensed
Okay, so I have edited my 1st Category entry post to include some close-ups of the play features, and I have added lots more pics to Brickshelf. As I already said, it's based on the trireme ships from the Persian Wars, but more in the style of a typical Lego ship set, with a flair of PoP. What do you think? Haven't you read Svelte's post in the discussion thread? Soon! -
If you think about it, it's not that strange that Aurra isn't in it. She wasn't exactly in that particular scene, she was off on another building, sniping. Besides, we should be grateful for all the cool figs we do get . But yeah, I really hope we'll get her at some point, maybe even in a cheaper set, with a speederbike or something.

And to think we could have gotten those mickey mouse heads for Lego figs... Oh well. Maybe some day. I have been thinking about the future of Disney licensed sets lately, and here is what I figured: They might do another wave of PoP, considering the theme's popularity, but after that, I think, there wont be much left from the movie for them to make sets of, and it's rather unlikely that they'll do any sets based on the games, so the PoP theme will probably be on hold until a sequel comes out (IF there will be any). I could imagine that the rumors of a PotC theme are true and that it will replace the PoP theme by next summer. As for Toy Story, I fear there isn't much they could make sets of here either. Maybe we'll see another wave (I really hope we do), but as soon as the excitement of the third movie has calmed down, I'm afraid it's over. The question is, what will take it's place? I think there is a good chance we might see System "Cars" sets to coincide with the sequel next summer. It's the only thing that makes sense. I'm still hoping that there will be sets based on Disney Animation Studios films, especially the classics, and the release of their adaption of Rapunzel (stupidly renamed to "Tangled" for corporate reasons ) this November would be a good chance to do so, but if TLC was planning to do so, I think we would have heard something about that by now. But one can always hope and wish upon a star! Any thoughts?

Maybe it's because she looks different every time we see her, especially in The Clone Wars. Anyone remember the Household Item Contest? Well, I was thinking, why don't we have a similar one, but with a Star Wars twist? The rules would be almost the same: 1. Your entry must be something that is useful in real life. 2. It must be made of 100% Lego. 3. It must be Star Wars themed. It would be almost like a "Design Your Own Lego Star Wars Fan Merchandise" contest. And yes, that would include Star Wars chess sets and other board games as well.
-
So that's your excuse, eh? Fair enough. Hmmmm... Otoh Gunga? So why don't yours?
-
Hehe, that would be another idea for a contest; to make a vig showing the most creative use of the force! I just had another great idea! You know how we are totally overdue for a Star Wars chess set? Well, how about we have contest to build one? That way we could show TLC how much potential there is in such a set! It could be based on any of the Episodes or the Clone Wars, or even maybe the EU! I know, there isn't much building involved, but if you make it as detailed as the large Castle Chess Set, we could see some really cool creations! Edit: Here's another one: A Padme Contest! She's one of the most important characters in SW, and we've only gotten one yellow minifig of her in handmaiden disguise! So let's show TLC how much we need her by building a scene that includes Padme! Entrants can use any brown-haird female to take her place.

Because you said that you have to confess that you made this podracer only for our enjoyment, implying that it is not part of a contest that you were lying about the contest. Then you say "Sign me but to host the contest" which only makes sense if you change it to "Sign me up to host the contest" which would imply that you are not currently planning on hosting one. I'm not accusing you of anything, just laying out what your comment sounded like to me. Either way, I'm glad I misinterpreted you.

Nice ones, Pi! I like the speeder, and the detachable drone is a neat addition. Reminds me of the last ExoForce sets. As for the speederbike, well, to be honest, I was expecting something more innovative and less... speederbikey. It kinda just looks like you turned the chasis around. But it's still nice. I had some alternatives to share of my own, so thanks for saving me the time to dig up this thread again. The first one is a UCS STAP! Unfortunately, I wasn't able to build a stable stand for it out of the remaining parts though. The second one? Well, I haven't gotten around to taking pics of it yet, but I'll post it soon. I hope you liked it, and that I inspired you to make some small UCS sets yourselves. Oh, and Happy B-Day Pi!

So, no contest then? Oh well, at least KimT said that he is considering to host one here...
-
Hm, yes, it would have certainly been hard for you to win with non-existing MOCs.
-
Uhm, guys, I think you're in the wrong thread. Yup. "Candy Lego doesn't need to have a point, that's why it's candy Lego".
-
Yeah, but that was a completely new head. That expression was just a bonus added to main one with the goggles on. I bet they figured "Hey, if we're already gonna make a new print, why not give it a different expression?". Y' know what I mean? I think it might be part of the mechanism to shoot the headlights.

Steampunk Airship WIP
Oky replied to Randal's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
Wow! That looks great already! The ailplane bodies work perfectly for the blimps! Just look at some reference pics of real steam engines and steampunk artwork. That should give you an idea of how to make the engine look realistic. As for building techniques for pipework, just search "greeble" or "greebs" on brickshelf. Most of what you see will be a bit more sci-fi than what you're looking for, but it might give you some ideas. Good luck with this! Can't wait to see it finished! -
LEGO 8684 Minifigures Series 2 (Official Pictures)
Oky replied to GRogall's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Yeah! In fact, I think I'm more excited for the accessories than the figs themselves this time. Indeed! It will be very useful for decorating any minifig homes and offices, and for making Academy Awards MOCs (or any kind of awards). It actually might be. On the package cover pics, it looks tan, but on the line-up pic it looks yellow. Maybe it's the same color as Elsa's hair piece. Hassansins? Why not Persian guards? Then again, seeing how Persians were portrayed in that movie, troll minifigs would probably be the best choice. But yeah, I would totally like to see that too! I'm sure that with some care, such a hole can easily be drilled. Same here, but then again, I can't resist the possibility of making a Green Army Woman! True, true... Yeah, I love the mime for his hat and different expressions! Great for brickfilming! And I bet his arms would go great on a City prisoner. Agreed! Plus it gives the kids something actually useful to collect instead of that Yu Gi Oh crap. Ditto. For example, as someone suggested a while ago, it would be great to get some Greys in minifig form, just like this: Oh well, maybe in the next wave. LOL! True, but I think the head with the red glasses from Robo Attack would be better suited for him. -
Thanks for leaving the threads open, Svelte! How long will they be open? Also, is it now OK for us to post our MOCs in their own threads? You know, you can always post it as a regular MOC.
-
Sure, the minifigs in that set are cool, but I don't think it justifies the extra $10. The Pirate Tank is a Target exclusive with two new figs too, but it comes with 54 more parts and costs $40! By the way, where did that price come from in the first place? I hope it's wrong.

LEGO 8684 Minifigures Series 2 (Official Pictures)
Oky replied to GRogall's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Man, this series is even better than the first! I'll get all of them, except the four in the back row maybe, and at least three of that awesome Spartan! He even has side leg printing! I wonder if his chest will be a shiny or matte color. The surfer turned out much better than I expected! Every part on him is so useful! And after seeing The Penguin's PoPified avatar, I simply have to get that Pharaoh's staff! The "Most Uninteresting Fig" award probably goes to the Cop. There's nothing special about him except maybe his torso and whatever that tile is he is holding. He is highly stereotypical, yes, but that doesn't mean he is racist. If that were the case, you could as well call the "It's a small world" ride at Disneyland racist. I wouldn't be surprised to see a "German" in the next wave with Lederhosen, pretzel, and beer. And quite frankly, I wouldn't mind a bit! -
Hm, this does look better than on the blurry pic. I especially like the box art with the sparks and stuff. Sorry, YG, but it looks the same to me too. Besides, why would they make a new print just to change one corner of his mouth? Flick-fire headlights. Oh boy, what's next? Isn't that the same pic Dark Avenger posted a page ago, only blown up a bit? Well, thanks anyway. Indeed, especially after they even named a fig in a BP! [sarcasm] Gasp! Could it possibly have been in the first post?! [/sarcasm] Not sure what currency that is, but if it's supposed to be USD, you're way wrong!

Nizam's Warship The evil Nizam has captured Princess Tamina and is holding her prisoner on his warship! Based on the design of the mighty trireme warships, this vessel is strong and fast! Now it's up to Dastan and his loyal steed to save the day! Good thing Dastan has the Dagger of Time, so time is on his side! But watch out for the Hassansins who have been hired by Nizam to keep Dastan off his ship! Will Dastan's horse be able to leap onto the ship? Will Dastan be able to save Tamina? You decide! Includes Dastan, Tamina, Nizam, Asoka, 3 Hassansins, and 4 slaves rowers! The back features rudders for steering, and decorations that resemble a griffin. You can take off the mast and catapult to play inside! Other features include: Booby traps in front of Nizam's throne, such as a saw blade and a trap door! The catapult can turn 360 degrees and shoot bricks! You can operate the crane to lower Tamina down and rescue her! Reel in the anchor by turning the knob! You can use the Dagger of Time to amplify the jump of Dastan's horse! Insert the dagger on the side of the docks to activate a spring that will catapult Dastan and his horse toward the ship! Dastan can sneak on board by hiding in the large barrel! More pics in this BS folder.

Hello there. From the beginning, I have been annoyed by all the complaints about the specialized parts in the Toy Story line being useless for MOCs in other themes, so I decided to make a MOC or two to prove those people wrong. This is one of them. Have you ever wondered how the Power Miners set up their mining station or handle heavy equipment? They used hard suits, small mechs that enhance their strength! It features a hydraulics pressure display and an emergency light on its back. These hard suits can lift up to five times their weight! Obviously inspired by the Powerloader from Aliens. Hope you like it. Hi-res pics in this BS folder.

Well, since every single one of the MOCs you posted is a masterpiece of mind-blowing complexity and you show no sign of tiring, I would say no. Just sayin'; it's a little weird how you have her decoy and all these maidens but none of them is the real Padme. It kinda makes the scene incomplete in my nerdy eyes. Looking forward to your next work!

Those last minute entries are just pouring in, aren't they? Anyway, from now, still got roughly 24 hours to submit our entries, right?
