[OFFICIAL] LEGO Icons 10365 Captain Jack Sparrow's Pirate Ship
F1stzz replied to CloneCommando99's topic in LEGO Pirates
It still looks like LEGO with the studs tiled up, what are we talking about? Anyway, I highly recommend everyone checking out the r/LEGOPirates and looking through the recent dedicated thread – Mr. JamesWilliamFlint has adjusted the image in Photoshop to make it more proportionate and straightened it out, so the stern of the ship wouldn't appear distorted. Under this new lens the aft does look less beefy & more in line with how it was in the movie. -

Because it's not the 80-90s anymore to have brick-built beams & studs exposed + just in general people sometimes love to have a clean looking display piece? This isn't a $100 Creator play set we're talking about here. -

Exposed studs on the beams & on the rear of cabin don't scream "$380" awful lot, but is fixable. What I like in what I'm seeing is how distinguishable the lower extended part is from the main hull, and the way it looks tells me said waterline extension might as well be just a part of the stand itself – that's a relief of sorts for me Gotta say: I like the arrangement of the cabin itself more on MOC Your Bricks model, but the hull shape, at least from the back (we'll see what it looks like from the side), seems to be superior on TLG's design. There are things that will certainly need to be modded, but it's all about the wicked wench price tag – in an approximately $380 set (which will totally end up being $400+ in various countries) it doesn't feel right to keep spending on modding, be it tiling up the exposed studs or remaking exterior (where are the signature mini-statues as a part of cabin's exterior, btw?) etc. -

No, we did not — those were also Pearl Dark Grey flintlocks One thing I'd say in regards of the flintlocks in 10365 is that perhaps they only seem to be black on the pictures we have available, but in reality they may as well turn out to be Pearl Dark Grey, that's certainly possible. -

Isn't true, the ones in 10320 were Pearl Dark Grey. And I've checked the catalogue, it is indeed a return of the black flintlocks for the first time since 1999 -

Impressions regarding the minifigures, obvious negatives: 1. Captain Barbossa is missing his signature yellow sash; 2. Medium Blue legs on Jack is a miss; 3. There's no point in making Marty's torso white unless he also has the double-sided jacket like Jack; 4. Only 2 minifigures out of 7 (excluding Elizabeth) have printed legs, and it's the exact same figs that had em in 2011 too. EDIT: as people on Reddit are pointing out, Jack doesn't have the scabbard/bandolier on his torso print and Cotton's supposed to have a vest. Obvious positives: 1. Hairpieces seem nice, although I'd like Barbossa's hat to be a little more massive; 2. Gibbs in particular has gotten a much closer torso print to the designs seen in the movies in comparison to 2011 figure; 3. The new Will Turner is honestly splendid, but gotta wait for better quality pics so we could take a closer look at the details of his prints; 4. Jack seemingly finally has matching skin tones on both his head/arms & torso. 5. The new bandana colour is likely about to be introduced with Cotton, perhaps in Bright Light Blue or Light Lilac, something in that colour range. Unrelated, but isn't this also the first time we get the flintlocks in black since the 90s? -

It is a picture of the box with the cover art showing the ship on its display stand, but I just hope that's some pre-production draft or something. There's no way the "Black Pearl" would have some copyright on it or anything like that preventing it from being the official set name, right? Totally not in the case of TLG partnering with Disney, so it'd be baffling to have "Captain Jack Sparrow's Pirate Ship" as the official name for such a set, for the approximate price of $330 this naming gives off the vibes of buying some cheap Chinese knockoff, lol Also, just to throw a thought on the table: if there's a chance Disney had the promotion of PotC-6 in mind with this set – this naming choice could straight up turn out to be a failure (not that I personally wouldn't consider it as such anyway). I'd guess no minifigs can be seen on the cover because it primarily is a display set & the entire focus is put on the build itself. Probably there would be an integrated option of converting it into a play set as indicated by the use of solid hulls, there honestly better be. -

I didn't even notice it looking through the details of the design, lol This better not be the official name on release, that'd be embarrassing. Even now it's sort of a red flag that makes me question TLG's actual dedication to the set, we're yet to see the detailed pics of interior & else – if this naming is anything to go by, I wouldn't be surprised if it turns out they've paid as much attention to the insides as they did to the ship's freaking name -

That was my thought as well, but the more I look at it (especially given the entire cannon deck looks like what Marooned Marin did with his model & the fact there are no minifigs in sight on the cover art) the more I'm inclining to think it may just end up being a display model akin to Silent Mary. At least it does look fairly moddable from what I see, if TLG nailed the cabin the rest can be tweaked to one's liking. I'd also say, looking at the photo it really feels like there'll be lots of new decent techniques introduced as well, and that's always a plus. -

They better nail that goddamn design at that price point with such a piece count if it has the solid hulls included -
Lego Builds account on Instagram calls em renewed Camilla & Bo'sun Will Don't know how to feel about it, I personally envisioned modern Will to have a 3626pb2180 sorta faceprint to not only emphasize his good nature and the fact he's become older, but also pay a nod to the 6235 Buried Treasure featuring a supposedly "adult Bo'sun Will", who has a stache. The torso is pretty much ideal for Camilla tho, the colours of her coat and hair are exactly matching those in the comics with the characteristic red accents, plus I can clearly see her growing into a dashing character after everything she's been through in said comics So I'd say the Camilla take here is pretty much thumbs up & I'm about to swap Will's head for the aforementioned one some time later.

Yep, it looks like the set is gonna be based on the tail end of The Curse of the Black Pearl, so the minifig selection makes sense if that's the case. Now I wonder if we'd get the version of Will in his fancy hat then -

With the rumours about the Black Pearl coming this summer, I somehow got randomly reminded about the fact this alt build existed: https://youtu.be/qoQ7BOyhgEc?si=dUkz9t5lczEUytF6 The vid has an active Mediafire download link for the PDF of instructions available in the description — just in case some of you would like to take a look at this forgotten piece of LEGO PotC history

And seemingly under the Icons brand, which doesn't sound all that exciting for me On the other hand, ofc, it's rly impossible to make things worse than what was done with 4184, so there's that -

It's 973pb4151c01 from NINJAGO's Tournament of Elements set if we're talking about the one on the right 👌🏻 -
That's certainly a creative way to wipe all the Junior Pirates minifigs out of existence and make their prices absolutely skyrocket for collectors I get that it may have been cheaper for you personally to demolish these LEGO 4+ figs than buying a big & cool third-party hat, but this ain't it, if we're being honest 🤷🏻♂️ The process itself def has to be a lotta fun tho

Yeah, ofc, but TLG didn't for some reason 🤷🏻♂️ When you check the catalogue of sets that were including the 4444 & 2345pb06 pieces, it becomes clearly apparent what exactly they're meant to represent and intended for
