  1. Now THAT is what we call a journalism Many thanks for your effort, m8, appreciated a lot Eldorado Fortress then, aye? Let the good times roll! Guess we're down to a couple of versions only, sir Things are shaping up to be a strategic leak, given all the info provided so far & honestly β€” couldn't be happier about it Same here! 2009 wave was my introduction to the theme as I've been interested in pirates topic in general for quite some time already & being a 10 year young boy was looking for some great toys to accompany my interest, lol Got the Bounty, Soldier's Fort & Kraken Attackin' back then, wanted the Shipwreck Hideout & Loot Island as well, but first three were kinda the ceiling of affordability, unfortunately After PoTC line, which came out almost immediately next & shifted my focus to 4195, 4194, 4193, 4191 & 4181 instead of completing the rest of Pirates-2009, my dark age kicked in and I didn't look back at collecting LEGO up until the glorious PoBB release β€” that one was enough to bring the fire back
  2. Absolutely, m8, speculation is the key here. It's well-known that sometimes companies make info leaks their marketing tool, which is being used to hype people up around a certain stuff & start gathering attention beforehand, guaranteeing themselves a 100% focus of the audience and, therefore, potentially a better start for sells. It's all based on timings, ability to stir up people's curiosity, engaging them into conversations specifically about the product, steadily building up the thrill before the actual announcement, which in the end kinda serves as a detonator to audience's excitement when our anticipation (masterfully constructed in advance) gets rewarded by an official statement. Mind games indeed πŸ‘ŒπŸ» And we'll never know until the "reward" actually drops on our heads
  3. My thoughts exactly there πŸ€œπŸ»πŸ€›πŸ» I'm delighted by the fact that pirate tank tops (especially the blue-striped ones) are still finding their way into new sets from time to time, cuz we definitely need LOTS of 'em for our customs
  4. @PxChris well, great then My only problem with this sail now is why TLG decided to put their fat insignia exactly down under the skull & crossbones, lol, why do they always have to put their trademarks right in our faces
  5. Great fig indeed, especially love his legs: could be combined with several different Indian characters' torsos pretty much flawlessly Paying 150€/$ in pursue for this fig rly seems a bit too much, but gotta consider making a separate BL order to get this guy (or his parts) some time later, huh? He would definitely make a good addition to anyone's collection, IMO
  6. Did you see the official pics for new Indiana Jones sets, guys? I guess these gents right here could fit some of our MOCs decently I'm also interested in the second guy's hat piece: is this one completely new or not? Looks like something that would work fine as kinda type of a bandana πŸ€”
  7. Wow, this build gives me huge 6260 vibes & I love it Absolutely admire the idea of a "crocodile jaws" gimmick: it really improves a simple "treasure cave" concept on so many levels, as it adds some mystery, works perfectly as a treasure hiding spot & can be used as a trap/jail cell all at once β€” simply wonderful! Voting for it in a heartbeat
  8. +1 for the patched sails: I don't recall seeing too many versions of the BP with those, encountered someone giving it a try only once, actually, on Instagram πŸ€” The guy's nickname is pira.the_ships, I believe, and he simply went with a hand drawn patches. It'd be interesting to see what's on your mind P.S: OR u can bring the cursed crew of traitors back, make Barbossa their captain again β€” and go with the battered sails just for the sake of a proper anniversary celebration, lol
  9. OK, NOW we're talking I can already tell that I kinda like your take on the Black Pearl more than BrickMOCBay's one: absolutely love the work you've done on the cabin's outsides β€” truly wonderful, sleek & flawless build (which I'd like to copy someday, lol). You've also managed to make the sloped PoBB-style rear work a bit better with the sides, I wouldn't call the transition itself "completely seamless" yet β€” but it's a good improvement anyway Figurehead β€” love the idea & implementation, almost everything about the bow is fine, tbh Anchors are done masterfully: this is exactly what needs to be featured in a bigger builds instead of a standart LEGO anchor mold Staircases are simple & elegant, just like one would imagine them to be in a TLG set that never came, lmao Appreciate the use of a standart LEGO rope pieces, as well as overall accent on playability: this is what LEGO's all about in the end, innit? "Awesome stuff" is my summary here, can't wait to see how the model will look in reality β€” should be mesmerising, I imagine
  10. I feel ya, m8 After all, it's been almost 30 years since we've got a great land based set for Imperials, that's ridiculous, honestly "Armada" faction in particular has never even got anything resembling 6242 from 2009 wave, for example, which is a straight shame. So yeah, eagerness for Imperial fortresses is more than understandable & relatable That being said, I still hope to see a decent pirate hunting warship for Bluecoats (and for Armada, why not?) down the road
  11. Well, we're still gotta wait & see if source's info is legit, if it is β€” I'm rooting for an Armada Fortress Imperial Armada faction has never been gifted with any kind of a decent base, lol, that 6244 thingy that's called "Armada Sentry" is a disgrace to Spaniards That's my personal preference tho, in reality I highly doubt TLG would be taking any sort of inspiration from 6244, as it has been stated here already that the "Vault" tag rather means a new type of build based on some ideas from the previous iconic sets (obviously 6244 is nowhere near as iconic as 6276/7). So yeah, probably gonna be something like "Return to the Eldorado Fortress" or else, ofc if we're talking about a land based set. If the thing turns out to be a ship β€” I'm here for those who mentioned the Ironram The fact of the matter is, 2015 Pirates line has to be the only wave in which Imperials had no vessel whatsoever β€” this would be a great chance to compensate in a big way, IMHO. Overall, considering the bang caused by PoBB, The Lion Knights' Castle, remastered Forest Hideout & Galaxy Explorer, TLG needs to finally realise that not only videogame developers & movie creators can make huge profits out of nostalgic acts β€” toy manufacturers are able to do so as well, if only it's done right. We need a fourth reboot of the theme, we need the Armada to strike back with some fresh designs & astonishing builds, we need a new touch on the Islanders β€” and we need our beloved Blue/Redcoats back in their previous glory! Bring us Captain Foul & his right-hand man Culverin! Let us sail under Captain Ironhook's command again! Give Camilla a chance to meet Will Cavendish once more! All TLG has to do at this point is to dive deeper into their Pirate Vault & remember where it all began β€” and how it should be done. Ninjago is not your only theme with a great continuous storyline, TLG, as well as Star Wars is not the only one deserving some great builds β€” hoist the flags!
  12. "Unlucky" is an understatement, lol β€” IT'S HEARTBREAKING! Great story & excellent display tho, m8, keep 'em coming!
  13. @Legostein never ceases to amaze us with his lovely little boats What a fine cute barque the "Lucky Seashell" is, I'm sure that Cap'n Fortunitas and his crew mates will get to say their word in these pirate infested waters! Huzzah!
  14. TY, sir As for your question, even tho BrickMOCBay's QAR has pretty much identical flaws to those I have issues with on Black Pearl (except for the cabin part: a heck of a nice job done this time around), I'd say that I like the Queenie better. The color palette on his QAR is no less than sick, probably the best looking one outta all QAR MOCs I've seen so far, including MOCYB's and kwakly's widely known versions. Overall this build feels much closer to the original movie design than BP, that whole cabin section and color combo just hit the right note for me here. If there's one problem to highlight in QAR build though, it would probably be the configuration of yards on bowsprit. Like, it's kinda hard to imagine the way for a standard rectangular sail to be attached there without bowsprit itself being an obstacle, lol, unless that sail would have some specific shape or size. Not a significant trouble anyway, so yeah, I guess the QAR build prevails over the BP one in my book πŸ‘ŒπŸ»
  15. Well, I guess everything's fine with this MOC, you can clearly see the influence of the original TLG design in it, but I still have to point out some things: 1) Rear of cabin has to have 3 windows as a bare minimum. That's the stuff which makes a lot of difference for us, PotC fans: simply check out the old 4184 topic and look at people's reaction to the first revealing images back then to get the idea 2) I'm not sure if PoBB-styled slopes on the stern actually fit with the straight sides here. The transition looks kinda awkward. 3) Standard TLG anchor molds seem to feel quite small compared to an overall scale of the build. Some custom anchors are definitely needed, IMHO. 4) Only a couple of sails per fore/mainmast? Even TLG's Black Pearl had 3 of them on the mainmast initially. 3 sails per each mast (except the mizzen one, no complaints there, it's just as it should be) would be ideal. I saw that Letbricks is already selling sets based off this MOC and QAR from the same designer, this is why I felt a need to share some of the issues that caught me eye in this build That being said, I think this MOC is indeed great and comfortably sits amongst the best BP designs
  16. I'll be right back, when I manage to pick up my jaw UPD: aight, fixed it back in place, lol Nice pics, m8, again β€” truly stunning work, I'm in love with the whole lighting composition and that helmsman statue? Dude, that one's a pure art on its own Btw @mlucas86 β€” congratulations on being featured in Beyond The Brick's recent posts on FB & Instagram! Acknowledgement well deserved
  17. We totally need some detailed photos of the port itself, especially in the dark What a creation, man, magnificent display piece indeed
  18. I see what you're up to, m8 I guess you can try to use an artist's canvas. It's relatively easy to find (should be available in hobby shops, if you have any nearby), not that costly & should be just fine for an inkjet also, I believe. That's, ofc, if you want that sail to be quite like those in LEGO sets.
  19. Which is a better one between the two, if u ask me! Nothing beats the original non-childish design of the Classic Pirates era, and I get that we ain't coming back to that one ever probably (I understand what LEGO's up to nowadays), but the 2020's version is, perhaps, the best possible balance TLG could've found between cartoonish "HEY, LOOK: WE'RE A CHILDREN TOY!" approach of 2009-2015 & the OG design πŸ‘ŒπŸ»
  20. Jeez, how many of those 2009 Captain Hats does LEGO still have? πŸ˜‚ TLG just keeps on randomly throwing them into various exclusives to this day, lol
  21. Unfortunately, I think it doesn't depend on TLG alone. For example, if Disney's giving a "go" to PoTC 6 and reach out to TLG to help and promote the new movie among the younger audiences via some dedicated sets (as it was exactly what happened back in 2011 & 2017) β€” then yeah, I guess chances are there. The key point is Disney's co-op with TLG on PoTC series, if it's taking place or not. TLG can't just take a licensed theme and start putting out sets on their own. So my guess is there will be no PoTC sets anytime soon, at least not until 6th movie hits theatres or Disney & TLG come to some agreements on the matter.
  22. Wished they'd have gotten ANYTHING resembling a proper base even at slightest, u mean πŸ˜‚ That "Armada Sentry" set of 1996 was embarrassing honestly, even in comparison with the Pirates sets released literally a year earlier. Hopefully, if we're destined to have another Pirates wave soon, the Imperial Armada would get a somewhat deserving refreshment just like Redcoats and Bluecoats did in 2009 and 2015 respectively (especially considering that Armada &, let's not forget, the Islanders are only factions yet to be remastered). Fingers crossed, as always 🀞🏻🀞🏻
